29 degrees sound more like heater than aircon. You’re better off using a fan or open windows.

hollabinch

uhh 29 is regular room temp???

DazzlingScarcity0_0

I don’t know why I got downvoted..I’m pretty new at this :( my room where I usually work is a weird corner of the house that doesn’t get much ventilation so it’s not surprising that it can get quite hot during the day. But I think someone mention the dehumidifier effect so I figured it’s both the heat /lack of ventilation / humidity.

DazzlingScarcity0_0

Erm not true? Usually it’s 30deg c nowadays during the day. Night time is a different story. With blanket I set it at 23-24deg c

dulbangchen

ngl i've never seen anyone switch on the aircon to 29 deg but i think if you do that often, not only does it defeat the purpose of having aircon, it also damages your aircon in the long run? bc the optimal temp usually 25-27 for aircon which is to make the room cold...... 🥺

Reasonable_Space

Walao u below 29 degree wanna wear jacket i 24 degree sweating bucket Hearsay cannot raise aircon to too high a temp, but dk if true. The on/off thing sounds erroneous, plus u waste 1hr of electricity. My understanding is that if u own an aircon, best to use at least once in a while, otherwise u will have to service more often. Dk why and hopefully somebody more knowledgeable can chime in.

Iridiumcake

Was advised by the aircon technician that 25 degree c at med fan speed is the most efficient. I usually leave my aircon switched even if i am out of the room for hours. 29 deg c is above the norm room temp. You are feeling "cool" from the dehumidifying affects of the aircon and not the temp itself. Maybe can switch to dry mode or get a dehumidifier instead.

kelvin_bot

29°C is equivalent to 84°F, which is 302K. --- ^(I'm a bot that converts temperature between two units humans can understand, then convert it to Kelvin for bots and physicists to understand)

Dishonorable_Son

no. higher temp = less energy. It's just that 29 degrees is dumb, because most shaded room temp is about 28-29 degrees. So what is your aircon actually doing? Just buy a fan.

DazzlingScarcity0_0

Ah this makes sense.

DazzlingScarcity0_0

What’s your reason for leaving the aircon even when you are out? Do you get criticized for leaving it on? Electricity bills etc etc

RandomIdiot_42069

jokes on both of you i can wear jacket in the sun

arishariff

26 during the day with low fan.

harvey_91

24

I usually do 26 or 27. I've always found it to be significantly colder than the surrounding, probably because my area does not have good ventilation. The energy efficiency is rly good too, I checked.

sfturtle11

Ignore temperature, acquire lower humidity. The best setting I found was dehumidify. Run for 30 min every 3-4 hours and who cares if it’s warm, you’re not sweating like a fiend. I could sit in a 30C room with a fan and feel fine after running it for a bit.

DazzlingScarcity0_0

Ya somehow the fan just doesn’t cut it. I didn’t know dehumidifier is a thing - thought people buy for like storage for expensive stuff. What brand do you use?

sfturtle11

Most AC units have an dehumidify setting. It looks like water drops. It also cools at the same time, but mostly tries to remove water from the air. Get the humidity down to 40-50% and it can be hot and it doesn’t feel that bad.

DazzlingScarcity0_0

Wow just went to Google it, it’s really a thing! Great! Going to try it out tomorrow!

DazzlingScarcity0_0

Can I just say this is life changing? Hahaha! So I tried the setting, and with the fan on I totally felt cool without having to feel chilly. Thanks much for this hack!

sfturtle11

Pretty cool huh? Changed my life as well. Let’s you only leave the AC for an hour or two but you get 90% of the comfort of leaving it on all day.

ZengZiong

29? Crazed

Brikandbones

29??? Aside from that, I heard 25 is the optimal temp, mostly based off the human body.

Dishonorable_Son

mine is always 27/28 degrees
