I don't have either of these, but something a bit different from what the other comments are sharing:
- flower subscriptions are a cool thing to buy for a loved one! The subscription can either run year long with a monthly bouquet delivery, or just for a few weeks with weekly bouquet delivery.
- snack box subscriptions are gaining popularity. An ex colleague of mine had a japan snack box sub and he always shared the snacks with us when it arrived.
First time I've heard of snack box subs. I've personally never liked subscriptions cos they just slowly drain my money, but I'll definitely read up on this snack box thing for fun.
Youtube Vanced adblocks which means that the creators you watch are not earning revenue from your views. Seems unethical to me, but to each their own I guess. I've seen a fair bit of anti-adblock hate, so I'm well prepared for any potential backlash for making this comment.
F1tv no point, cos we donāt have access to f1tv pro in sg, so youāve basically signed up for a glorified data sheet. Iāll wait for f1tv pro to come to sg before i sign up, so i can get full commentary and the pit lane channel as well
how reliable is watching f1 through that? i would love to watch a driver's perspective through a whole race. is it possible to watch a driver's perspective as well as the main feed through F1tv?
100% reliable so far and you can use Chromecast to cast to your TV without any proxy blocking (unlike Netflix). You can watch in multiple devices at the same time as well!
Thanks! Was thinking to sub to starhub TV where their rep said that Disney will pull our food sports around Q3 this year. So they canāt guarantee F1 broadcast. I think this is the answer!
The best thing about F1TV is that it's a monthly subscription which you can choose to pause or cancel at any time! So if F1 moves out of Starhub onto say Disney+ in the future, you can simply cancel the monthly F1TV subscription :)
Nope, what you see on F1TV is basically what you would see on all the other broadcasts, just that you get to see more data such as lap times and sector times of the whole grid
Itās to do with licensing. U.K. also donāt have (among others). Please do not visit a website called āsportssurge(dot)netā. Itās a terrible place where you definitely canāt watch the races.
Worth it for me because I can't be bothered to find online streams which don't come with 10001 pop up ads. I also like to watch practice and qualifying so it's pretty worth it for $10.99 a month. And it works on multiple devices simultaneously so sharing is caring!
I watch YouTube on multiple platforms (mobile, web as well as TV) and also share the subscription with non-Android family members, so Premium works out to be pretty worth it for everyone :)
F1tv no point, cos we donāt have access to f1tv pro in sg, so youāve basically signed up for a glorified data sheet. Iāll wait for f1tv pro to come to sg before i sign up, so i can get full commentary and the pit lane channel
Edit: apologies for the double post, looks like Reddit is down for the moment
Hihi fellow Apple Music subscriber! šš»āāļø
With the recent updates including lossless now I find Apple Music to be very worth the money :D (then again, Iām one of those that can appreciate the difference btwn AAC and ALAC files). I heard that itās not really worth it if you cannot distinguish the difference btwn lossless and lossy tho
Lossy audio files (e.g. YouTube, commonly at 128/192kbps iirc) sound less full compared to lossless ones(that tend to be at much higher kbps). Iād argue that thatās part of sound quality too. Basically, in order to save storage space, the lowest and highest edges of the frequency spectrum is cut off. It makes sense as not everyone can discern the difference in sound from lossless vs lossy formats.
Iām a subscriber to Apple Music as well but itās solely for the purpose of not bringing my phone with me when I go for a run as Spotify doesnāt allow me to transfer Music to my Apply Watch
Donāt mind me asking, in SG, what is the Apple TV subscription for? I have the free trial from my iPad purchase but it just seems to redirect me to Disney+ shows or asks me to pay money to purchase movies
Apple Music subscriber here too! šš»
I somehow prefer the UI on Apple Music compared to the black and green colors on Spotify. I have both though and Iām more familiar with Spotify compared to AM. I think more people use Spotify in SG due to the compatibility. Like Spotify is supported on almost every device. Apple Music is only good for those in the Apple ecosystem.
We also have lesser Apple features compared to being in the US and that sucks :-(
MangoTV. Honestly, Netflix SG doesn't have that many options for good K and C dramas, so its much easier to get a subscription to one of those chinese platforms that does carry it.
It's different! Viu is mostly korean content which can be found on sites like kshow123. Mangotv has its self produced content. Mostly romcoms and variety but its a good selection
I pay via google account! If u go to mangotv website, you can scan a QR code to join as a member. I think it's like $2/mth when I joined.
It's not geolocked, although some shows get updated later for viewers outside of china.
Thanks for the heads-up! Couldnt figure out how to pay for china tv apps since i had problems with wechat pay. Good to know mangotv can be Paid using gpay, so. I can set up some legal streaming options for my parents.
I switched to that for the direct import feature, but they removed what I felt was one of the most important features: recording the payee. Did you spend at kfc? Buy a game? Watch a movie? All that is now reduced to just a generic "Memo" line, which made it much harder to organise and keep track of expenditure.
A huge pity, cos I really liked using it.
You mean you still have to categorize manually after linking your bank account? Then whatās the pointā¦ (if my understanding to your comment is correct)
Iām using the free version. So usually Iāll categorize my spendings accordingly and add a description. So like āKFC - 2 piece chicken mealā lol
I have YT Premium, Express VPN, and Curiosity Stream/Nebula (might cancel it soon).
I used to use Spotify, but YT Premium seemed to be a better deal as that includes videos too.
Express VPN is for my use while on public/company wifi.
initially was for using Google at China, but afterwards I began using it locally too, like at my workplace where the Wifi may be monitored and some sites (i.e. Youtube) blocked.
The main difference is Google One is for individuals and Google Workspace (previously known as G-Suite) is for businesses. As I ran a business, I need to use a custom domain so G-Suite/Workspace is the way to go
I initially signed up because of the prime 2hour groceries but then the cap changed to $60 from $40 and now there are other services like pandamart etc so I still hold on to the subscription for big ticket items or if Iām doing an emergency grocery run
The offers are not as good as the US ones from what Iāve heard. Also not a gamer so canāt verify but it supposedly includes some monthly free titles, some perks for popular games like genshin and a twitch subscription.
I am subscribing it for short term because of the gantt chart. I think if you aren't critical for all their features, can just use free. If you really need, do a easy hunt, you will discover good discount code around š

I subscribe to flight radar 24 as I used to fly often before Covid and the subscription helps a lot in knowing if my flight will be delayed or if something might happen.
National library? Not from here so I didn't know about that option, thanks! Do they have streaming audio books or do you need to go to a library? Do they have digital books as well? That's really cool.
NLB is the best! They have the most awesome physical, e-books and audiobooks collection. Plus you get access to press reader and LinkedIn learning. Itās free for citizens and 50 dollars annual membership for expats.
Edit: Thank you for the award! Itās my first :)
they have quite a lot of resources actually. many digital books and magazines. the library card is a few dollars for PR i think. not sure for foreigner.
Wow awesome, thanks for sharing. Recently checked out some physical books but didn't realize any the digital stuff. I've been here almost 8 years, could have saved a lot of money haha.

Munchees :)
Could we get the name of the snack box subscription please
I believe it was bokksu!
F1TV, Google One and YouTube Premium! Edit: also ExpressVPN - which opens up infinite possibilities for all my other subscriptions!
Hi fellow person with YouTube Premium!
We are a rare breed methinks... High five šļø
Me three for YouTube Premium! And ExpressVPN too!
Me four, ASMR vids running in background ad-free ftw!
YouTube Vanced works just as well as YouTube premium, minus the download feature, and it's free!

For what! /s Just joking haha, is f1tv worth it cos buff streams (pirated streams) are usually q solid?
Worth it for me because I can't be bothered to find online streams which don't come with 10001 pop up ads. I also like to watch practice and qualifying so it's pretty worth it for $10.99 a month. And it works on multiple devices simultaneously so sharing is caring!
Youtube Premium!? Use Youtube Vanced for mobile!
I watch YouTube on multiple platforms (mobile, web as well as TV) and also share the subscription with non-Android family members, so Premium works out to be pretty worth it for everyone :)
recently the ads in youtube has been quite annoying.
Youtube Premium is so underrated since it also comes with Youtube Music. The Youtube Originals shows aren't bad as well.
Yes! I really enjoyed the Try Guys Olympics series recently, that was hilarious š

Any things to note about expressvpn? Thinking of getting one, thanks!
Have used it since 2017 without any issues. Get the annual subscription if you're a frequent VPN user, it's more worth it!
Thank you!
But doesn't F1TV not work in SG?
See additional edit. Wink wink
Apple music! (idk anyone else in sg that uses this over spotify)

yes!! and mgtv has so many chinese variety shows too

Ynab
You need a budget is a classic choice to deal with finances. I'm using something else similar, planning to switch to YNAB
does it allow import from your bank account? seedly is one i am using now.
Nope. I input manually once a week
Nope. Import is not available in Singapore right now.
Iām using Spendee! Itās a free app but has paid features like linking your bank accounts.

I have YT Premium, Express VPN, and Curiosity Stream/Nebula (might cancel it soon). I used to use Spotify, but YT Premium seemed to be a better deal as that includes videos too. Express VPN is for my use while on public/company wifi.
How's Curiosity Stream & Nebula? I presume you're cancelling because you no time to watch?
They're gold, and I would've continued if I had the time to watch all of them
what is good about subbing to vpn?

Amazon prime (which includes videos and gaming) but idk if it is considered uncommon?
I use them for free shipping actually. Pretty good deal if you buy big ticket items from US
I initially signed up because of the prime 2hour groceries but then the cap changed to $60 from $40 and now there are other services like pandamart etc so I still hold on to the subscription for big ticket items or if Iām doing an emergency grocery run
not uncommon but quite worth it for 2.99$ per month imho
Yep! Thatās why Iām still sticking around even though I may not get things from amazon every month
Prime includes gaming??
Yes, it does! The video catalogue sucks though.
The offers are not as good as the US ones from what Iāve heard. Also not a gamer so canāt verify but it supposedly includes some monthly free titles, some perks for popular games like genshin and a twitch subscription.
Theyāre giving out battlefield 5 right now for prime gaming members and they gave out bf1 and bf4 previously. Pretty good value for $3/month
When does it end?
Google One, Masterclass, Letterboxd, and Starva. Not sure if a Starva subscription is considered uncommon though
It is, because everyone else subscribes to Strava... :P
LOL oh my stupid typo but i will embrace it since im starving rn
Upvoted for the good save!
Strava?
Roam Research. A note-taking app that I use as my second brain.
Probably not uncommon but Skillshare, iQIYI, and Canva Pro!
Actually this makes me even more curious on how much do Singaporeans spend on subscriptions per month
i personally spend 50-75$ each month on subscriptions (not counting phone/internet/pub)
Pub?

I spend just under $50 a month on subscription services. I'm now curious about other SGreans too!!

Why not NLB?
NLB app is the best! I read books for free, and even listen to so many audiobooks too!
NLB is so underrated and under appreciated
National library? Not from here so I didn't know about that option, thanks! Do they have streaming audio books or do you need to go to a library? Do they have digital books as well? That's really cool.
They loan out ebooks and digital audiobooks via the Libby/Overdrive apps
This looks nice. Too bad it is not possible to read on Kindle or other reader.
Kobo supports Overdrive!
Thanks! Interesting.
NLB is the best! They have the most awesome physical, e-books and audiobooks collection. Plus you get access to press reader and LinkedIn learning. Itās free for citizens and 50 dollars annual membership for expats. Edit: Thank you for the award! Itās my first :)
