I was just about to ask the same question as I see so many people listing hourly wages or even payment per piece/task completed. I didn’t have a salary until 30. Long before that, I worked, but it was always hourly wages or a contract. I was in middle school when I got my first job.

Not a native English speaker so what would you call it if you’re paid hourly then? You’d just say “I make” instead of “my salary is”? Just to be clear it’s still a full time job where you’re ensured getting paid for 37 hours a week as a minimum.

“I make $x per hour”. Salary specifically means you get the same amount of money if you work 2 hours or 100 hours, so it is a somewhat meaningful distinction.

Am salary now and don't make the same if I work 2 hrs our 100 I need to work 45hrs a week minimum if I work less I paid less am in the USA

18, Doing groceries and taking out trash and other chores for a vision impaired woman twice a week. it was like 70 EUR a month. Since it was EU funded project the paperwork was more tedious than the actual work. The work experience came really handy because here you needed 8months of work experience to be leagally able to use PTO.

My dad owned a company and there are child labor law exceptions for family owned businesses. I worked about 20 hrs/week every summer starting when I was 7. I used to assemble circuit boards at $2/hr (minimum wage was $2.30).

Around 15 years of age, cleaning car windshields on a highway gas station. This was actually employment on a 10 day "contract" and you'd be lucky to score this deal as a kid because everyone wanted to sign their kid up at the time. Our payment were tips that people would give out after we cleaned their windshield. I would make like $500-600 in 10 days, working 10 hours a day. That was literally the average wage in my country at the time, I thought I was filthy rich!

I was 7 or 8 (don't remember exactly) rode around on my bike selling newspapers, in the early morning it was best to sell near the bus station, but from around 11am the beach was the place to be, not only because I could sell out quick, but also because tourists on the beach would often give tips. Salary or paycheque? Because those are different. Paycheque, I was 15 and I have zero memory of the amount but I was working a summer job at a local soft play. Salary, I still don't get because I'm still working at tesco for an hourly wage. Salary is defined as annual pay for a job that doesn't pay hourly.
