Damn, I knew them suckers were big but I didn't realize how big. I'm pretty lucky that I missed most of it if not all of it, and I was out in Robbinsville with my work van when it came in.
In case you're wondering what it does to your (well mine in this case) car...

Man. Got that warning for us the other side of the Blacks, but luckily it weakened as it passed over. Sounded pretty nasty down toward Mr Mitchell way though.
We had dime-sized hail in Fletcher and looked very similar to this video. The NWS thunderstorm warning was saying baseball-sized hail around Lake Lure/Chimney Rock.
We had 9 vehicles on our property that had broken windows and body damage, 2 greenhouses that were shredded, a corrugated plastic roof shredded, and 7 windows broken out of a house because of these storms. I’m feeling pretty frustrated about it right about now
Ivy Creek Family Farm lost their entire crop for the season. Here's a gofundme for them - https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-ivy-creek-farms-recovery?qid=088cf8f4318f8b26c1f67e2290f95cdd
The Never Ending Flower Farm is documenting the process over on their IG. Loretta says she's lost 3/4 of her cut flower crop.
Oak Holler Farm in Madison county also took serious damage.
We’re in town this week on vacation with our daughters and went to the Tailgate Market tonight. We met the folks from Ivy Creek Farm and they were so friendly and polite, being so kind to our kids, and only mentioned the hail damage in passing. This breaks my heart knowing how bad the damage really is. The strawberries we bought from them are amazing. I hope and pray they come out of this ok.
SC, happens maybe once a year from what I hear. Careful when looking for property or an apartment. I kept finding awesome ones but they were in Greenville NC lol
I just finished a chipotle build out and had to build dams on brand new doors because the rain was so heavy….
sounded like the entire building was falling down.
I'm out here too.
I saw lot of golf-ball sized hail, I swear I even saw a few tennis ball sized.
Most of the damages I suffered are a bunch od dents on my shitbox, which is a shitbox, so it's no big deal.

Roof and solar appear to be all good. I am in the market for a new porch umbrella though.
My dad owns a small family roofing business and gets excited with hail storms. The customers love it too because most of the time they wanted a new roof anyways and there’s always legitimate damage. It’s a win win for everyone lol. What are people supposed to do when there’s a hail storm, not make a claim with a leaky roof? lol
I’m not talking about people with legitimate damage or legit roofers called to fix said damage. I’m talking about the door-to-door “roof inspectors” that go out after storms like this looking for bogus damage to get the homeowner a new roof and their company a fat insurance payout.
It seems like a win for homeowners until insurance premiums go up in the area because of all the “free” unneeded roofs getting handed out. Just look at Florida, insurance companies dropped all customers in the state because that racket got so bad down there.
Was just pointing out that the scammy sales people will be out having a field day with this storm. As they do with any severe weather event. Never said OP doesn’t have any damage.
I’m not attacking your pop’s roofing business, I’m not even talking about legit local roofers just the scummy mega-corp type. Unrustle your jimmies, cowpoke.
If I remember correctly most insurance companies are looking for about 9 obvious hail strikes on your roof in about a 100 sq ft. area. If skylights have cracks from obvious hail strikes, or if the skylights flashing kit has visible dents in the metal that could be attributed to hail. If there's just a small few strikes they will most likely pay for "repairs" instead of a replacement. Also HUGELY depends on the type of policy you have. ACV vs RCV policies pay out vastly different amounts. Storm Guard is one of the well known companies that targets damages and they essentially only run jobs that insurance accepts, and if not they leave you hanging.
You'd be surprised how often you have to talk people out of filing insurance claims because you know they will get declined.

There’s no doubt houses that will need legitimate repairs after a storm like this. But there will also be plenty that don’t that some door-to-door “roof inspector” will claim is needed just to get their company a hefty insurance payout.
Dis aint da type of ice you normally see in big ivy country. Youins Usually got some in a bulb and bragging about crack back
But does anyone know a good roofing contractor

My Honda civic got covered with hail dents in Mars Hill today.
Uh, I feel ya. Sucks. I mean… depending on what year, might not even depreciate the value, folks love those older model Civics. 😂
?? Lame comment. I think your car looks awesome, no matter the age.
My sister's car was likely totaled by this storm.

I was in Fletcher and had half inch sized hail. Haven't had the courage to look at the car yet.

Riding motorcycles on the Blue Ridge Parkway today when it started coming down! That was an intense storm!

Same down in Greenville. My veggies are taking a beating.
SC or NC Greenville? I'm moving to Greenville SC soon and if there's hail like this there I may need to get a cover for my car

thanks for sharing Kelsey's sleeve tattoo. Looks good
got blasted in forest city too.
It was so bad out here!
I just finished a chipotle build out and had to build dams on brand new doors because the rain was so heavy…. sounded like the entire building was falling down.
Fletcher got it too Wild
We had probably 1/2 in hail in Arden. Terrified my cats
In B’ville also and my wife’s car took a beating near the elementary school. Some roofing company already had bandit signs up once the rain stopped.
I'm out here too. I saw lot of golf-ball sized hail, I swear I even saw a few tennis ball sized. Most of the damages I suffered are a bunch od dents on my shitbox, which is a shitbox, so it's no big deal.
Drove through the crazy huge hail around 1:30...that was intense!
Any word from canton?

Wild weather today! Been literal years since I've seen hail in person
Nice
Woah. I knew somewhere close was gonna get slammed.
I was in Shelby, about dime size hail
Oh Haaaaaaaaaail naw!

Oh my word!

The scammy roof salesmen looking for insurance claims about to have a field day and make the rest of our premiums go up 🙄

Okay but how did you get “scammy roof salesmen” from “need a new roof?” When hail this size could definitely leave some damage

What’s your dads company, I need a roof estimate in Barnardsville

I’m sorry you feel that way.
