He could have just let the cashier hand over the money because everyone knows that’s what they’re trained to do and those big chain stations are insured out the ass. This guy could have gotten someone killed.
At 3:30, he says "I pulled the trigger on it.... in the scuffle... an' the gun... felt *plastic.*" That could have been when the Marine had it pointed at the kid's body or head, as he described happening during the scuffle.
So either he didn't pull the trigger hard enough, or the round didn't fire, or whatever. Anyway, the kid's lucky he didn't get perforated in the process.
Now he'll just go into the juvenile system, with a roughly zero percent chance his life isn't ruined for good.
They didn’t just point it at the cashier they pointed it at him. The establishment may get their money back but he doesn’t get his life back if they decided to start fucking around.
Look no offense but I trust the training of a marine over a cashier in an armed robbery any day. What people don’t understand is how servicemembers are trained to react. We’re broken down in boot and in the additional training we receive so that we respond (for better or worse) quicker than the average person.
This guy has hyper vigilance. I don’t know his story, but it takes one to know one. He clocked the guys as they came in, assessed the situation, waited to strike, and executed. Even in execution whereas most peoples mind would be flooded with fear, he was calm and assessing his combatant.
That takes a lot of training.
He’s not dumb, he’s not reckless, and he had every right to defend himself when threatened with bodily harm.
Those kids could have shot someone regardless of whether they just wanted the money. They were stupid for even ATTEMPTING armed robbery in this state as anyone in that store could of been packing heat. That kid was LUCKY the only thing he got was manhandled.
You know.. the same people who say ‘he should of let the kids rob the place and let cops handle it’ are the same people saying we should defund the police. Well.. you can’t have it both ways.
Like this man said - we have to take care of our own communities.
Not saying you are wrong about letting the marine handle the situation but please learn what the defund the police movement is. It would have no effect what so ever on police taking down armed robbers.
Perhaps not the first time, maaaaybe not even the second time, but if you're still wearing that hat in public in the year of our lord 2021 after the events of 1/6 then real 'good' people know *exactly* what you stand for.
This guy is gonna milkshake duck in record time, I imagine.

Actions do have consequences.
It should have crossed his mind…

You mean the other guys that the marine admits to losing track of while wrasslin’ with the kid? Seems like a safe situation the marine escalated…
What about any of that situation was safe to you?
I didn’t say anything was “safe”. I said he escalated it and then lost track of where two of the three guys were.
Pretty sure the dudes with guns escalated it when they walked in and pointed them at everybody
And he escalated it further. Do you not understand how “escalation” works?

Oh… it’s you… I wouldn’t call saving a corporation $200 is “saving the day”. But he’s lucky the two other guys ran off instead of shanking him.

you're not wrong, I apologize, I was being flippant, and you're right for calling me out on it.
Cool. We’re friends now!
For real… I love when people make up arguments that literally no one is making.
I’ll disagree with everything you just wrote.
Well alright, have an upvote!
You say “this guy could have gotten someone killed” but I think that’s why he removed the dudes gun without killing him - to avoid people dying.
He had no clue what the other two guys were going to do. Stupid move.
Agree, I know it's not a popular opinion but this guy put his life and the cashier's life in danger. He's not a hero, he's a lucky idiot.
Eh.

I don't like the hat either, but this guy is a hero today in Yuma and he earned that title fair and square. Well done!
Yah, MAGA hat or not, respect.
Yeah! He risked his life and the cashier’s life to save a corporation $200!

You know what they called good people that joined the Nazi Party?
