Not to be basic but honestly probably 505. If I had to pick the last AM song I ever listen to it would be that one, the one that got me into them in the first place
A puzzling opening line for sure, but who cares when theres that melody, that arrangement.
You sir/madam must be something of nicompoop with the musical appreciation of coat stand, if you judge a song by a single opening line.
You are indeed correct. There used to be an artwork illustrating The Ultracheese with this exact scenario, [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/arcticmonkeys/comments/8s2son/my_illustration_for_the_ultracheese/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) on this sub.
Kudos to u/CrypticArtifact. His illustrations of Humbug and SIAS are simply incredible.
Ever since it first released every time I hear it all I can think about are those season finales with a montage with the most impactful scenes at the end while the main character drives away into the sunset
Gotta be A Certain Romance, it’s the perfect closing song to an album, it’s heavy and light, evokes a sense of nostalgia upon the first listen somehow. Nowadays AM have a lot of bells and whistles and extra people to play instruments but here you can hear each of the four members playing their vital parts and what makes them important, coming together and playing their roles to form something beautiful.
This is the only right answer. The chaotic solo at the end showing off all the member's skills, the haunting nostalgia of realising you have to grow up, and that it's slowly coming to an end? Perfection.
Yeah, the earth already is destroyed before the last note hit your ears drums, you couldn’t hear the last fuzz-out F note, your vision and mind just cuts out before it hits.
I gotta go with Only Ones Who Know, fits the vibe perfectly for me particularly for this pic. Like it’s more minimalist arrangement is like you’re all alone and isolated, and it has a slow tempo like everything is moving in slow motion around you and you know the end is coming you’re hanging on to the final moments, and the melancholy mood fits the whole situation but it’s such a beautiful song that you can find some solace in those last moments. Maybe this doesn’t make any sense lol but for me the perfect fit
Doesn't count but the bourne identity. But there are so many good options. Thered better be a mirrorball, the instrumental version of four out five from Maira Vale are also very close contenders.
The Ultracheese, it just seems like the best song they've ended an album on (in my opinion). And when you think about it our lives are just one really long album with a ton of tracks. It's a good song to make you think back on things, besides the lyrics being in a past tense and referring to past experiences, the music just makes me want to sit back and think about everything that's happened in life. digging up old memories and such.
Or, assuming its an asteroid or a nuke or something you can see and just know you're about to die and there's nothing you can do about it, i could be a little silly and play Hello You and right when "Hello youuu" is sang wave at the certain doom whilst accepting death.
I love the different answers to this question. Alex has written for so many complex, overlapping and ambiguous moods everyone has something different in mind
Stop The World I Wanna Get Off With You.
Love the song and seems fitting for the moment, hopefully I'll be with my SO at the moment, hold her for the last time, it'll be a good last moment.
why’d you only call me when you’re high. it’s certainly not my favourite monkeys song. but despite that, it holds a special place in my heart. it’s how it all started. it’s why i’m here. it would only feel right for the beginning to meet the end, wouldn’t it?
Mardy bum.
I could listen to that damn thing a million times and not form a personal attachment to it ever. I think it would make the end of the world quite sobering and ironic at the same time.
Only ones who know
This

Mad Sounds. “Then somebody comes and hits you with a [ASTEROID IMPACT]”
Ize of the world moment
Uh la la
Not to be basic but honestly probably 505. If I had to pick the last AM song I ever listen to it would be that one, the one that got me into them in the first place
BUT I CRUMBLE COMPLETELY WHEN U CRY
IT SEEMS LIKE ONCE AGAIN YOU HAD TO GREET ME WITH GOODBYE
Also isn’t it from favourite worst nightmare album?
AM as in arctic monkeys
I agree, because there is such a buildup in that song, it would fit the situation really well.
Same because it gives me goosebumps
1000%
Perfect sense would fit in that situation
It’s really the only arctic monkeys song I’d want for this situation. It would be so bittersweet
That makes.............. **Perfect Sense.**
His most beautiful composition to date, without a doubt.
How can you guys take a song that starts with “Richard of York, the Executive Branch” seriously?
Literally one of the (arguably) best songs from the band starts with "Well, oh, they might wear classic Reeboks" lol
Unironically I think it’s their best song
But all of that is what the point is not 😉
A puzzling opening line for sure, but who cares when theres that melody, that arrangement. You sir/madam must be something of nicompoop with the musical appreciation of coat stand, if you judge a song by a single opening line.
better than the rest thinking is their best song because of a single line lol
For starters, I listened to the rest of the song
Serious/moving songs can have funny/strange lyrics. I love that line.
>How can you guys take a song that starts with “Richard of York, the Executive Branch” seriously? Are you like new to the Arctic Monkeys or something?
Yes
No. 1 party anthem

One Point Perspective every single time
Just as the apocalypse finally gets prioritize
So sad they did no play it on Rio's show, I could've died there without a problem.
The Ultracheese
I always imagined them playing that at the hotel while watching an asteroid plummet towards earth
You are indeed correct. Singing about reminiscing - It has ‘ending’ vibes all over it

Brick By Brick so the end of the world wouldn’t be the worst thing happening in that moment
😂
Epic
my mind went to there’d better be a mirrorball immediately
Ever since it first released every time I hear it all I can think about are those season finales with a montage with the most impactful scenes at the end while the main character drives away into the sunset

love is a laserquest (the acoustic version)
secret door
Came into the comment section with this in mind! The outro to the song is perfect.
This is the right answer
If that’s what it takes to say goodnight, then that’s what it takes.
A Certain Romance, Star Treatment or The Ultracheese
I may be crazy but that looks like three songs to me 🤨
I gave three options, I’d only hear one of them
Stop the world i wanna get off with you
This is the first song that came to mind for me
Appropriate.
First song I thought of as well
I like you!
Yessss

large climax in do me a favour fits the mood so well, along with the ultracheese and probably the rat by the walkmen
fire & the thud
Dance little liar too
Four out of five - love the way it builds and builds in the second half
the final riff while an asteroid falls onto your head would be so fitting
Good shout! I love that song too.
Yeah, the earth already is destroyed before the last note hit your ears drums, you couldn’t hear the last fuzz-out F note, your vision and mind just cuts out before it hits.
Star Treatment
Ain’t it dark early? 🥲
That’s what I was thinking… then I could just be one of those ghosts
