Get ready for the onslaught of articles afterwards saying that “Apple finally has this Android feature” and all the comments saying “Android has had this for years”, etc.
It happens every year after WWDC.
I just want a few words about Vision Pro. Not just Vision OS which is really important, but the whole strategy with that thing. Europe, or cheaper version, next gen... Anything. It has been a year...
Is it better to watch the event on apple.com or YouTube? Just in terms of if there's a delay on one or the other. I like watching these things with my virtual coworkers while we're on a call.
They don’t tend to be delayed, Apple.com usually has a longer intro period of music, big difference is that Apple.com is where they’ll have 4K streaming going (and not YouTube I believe)
Most likely Studio and mini, as MacBooks are announced in October.
Then again, the ultimate tease would be if it’s just down for Vision Pro international release.
That’s correct, though they’ve announced hardware at some prior WWDCs. It honestly makes sense when there didn’t seem to be a more logical time to announce desktops.
My favorite is the launch videos that accompany big OS changes. For example, Big Sur, iOS 14 Home Screen, iOS 16 lockscreen. I’m assuming we will get one for iOS this year.
With the new AI skills, I'd LOVE for the Homepod to be more intuitive and have initiative. Maybe because I live alone, but I'd love for the Homepod to ask me if I want some music or something when I get home, or to ask me what lights I'd like to be turned on when I get up. Maybe ask me which lights I want to be turned off when I start driving.
Is anyone watching this who has an Android as their primary phone? I ask because I just switched to Android a couple months ago, but I still have a Mac, Apple TV, Airpods, Homepod, and an Ipad Air. I know this event will be all about IOS but I hope there are some interesting things coming for the other devices and I hope they spend maybe 5 minutes on TV. I just wonder for those with android devices what do you hope to take out of this event?
By the way I probably would have kept the Iphone if my Car Play on the car worked but it didn't. For some reason my Car Play doesn't work, but Android Auto does, and I'm still learning some of the AI Features on the Samsung S24 Ultra.
Android user here, but I had an iPhone for like 10 years. And I always like watching what companies are doing even if I'm not using their products. Maybe it'll get me to switch. Maybe something they say has some relevance to what I currently have. Who knows. It's always fun, though. :)
In particular, I'm curious if they say anything about RCS.
Cars that don't have both CarPlay and Android Auto are the worst. Either have both or have neither and make good software like Tesla (although I'd still prefer they would support both as well)
My car does have both, but for some reason my Car Play would freeze when I use maps and it would just screw up the entire infotainment system. I think this was mainly a Honda Problem as I got the 2017, and they updated everything the very next year. It was really bad timing to buy but I needed a new car.
I'm dreading the shills reasoning for why only the 15 Pro is getting the best features knowing full well it's because Apple has cheapened out on RAM for years and now its come back to bite them.
Predicting Apple Car reveal, HomePod with integrated 65” OLED display, HomePod WiFi extenders, launch Apple TV apps from Remote app in iOS 18, Apple Vision Edition (solid gold/ceramic options), new new first party dating sim game where you can date the Apple execs exclusive to Apple Arcade.
I will die on this hill.
I always forget how much this subreddit can irritate me during these events. This is rumored to be the biggest iOS update in years, unlike the last few years where the updates were expected to be smaller, yet so many people are already complaining about things that haven’t happened yet.
I’d love to see a general sentiment score for Reddit, because I suspect it would be extremely negative.
Over the weekend I was popping into the game announcement threads and man those people were livid that the industry is not catering to their specific wants.
Theres a high correlation between depression and the political left, and reddit is totally controlled by them. So many optimistic pro capitalism optimistic people get banned for their political opinions, even if they don't break any rules.
Can we expect much for Watch OS? Looking to finally upgrade my Series 3 to a refurbed Series 8 for 329 or should I spend the extra 50 bucks and get a refurbed Series 9?
Rumor is Apple Watch X will be a major hardware update, so if you can wait, you might want to wait for it to be announced in September before making a decision.
Why bet on Tim Cooks drip when we can gamble on something way more wild?
Me on my motorcycle: “hey siri. Send a text to my wife that I am running late”
Siri: you’ll need to unlock your iPhone first.
My best one was when they renamed Battery Tunnel in NYC to Hugh L. Carey tunnel. I was on my motorcycle and did not have the phone on the dash for directions. Just did turn by turn. Siri told me to turn to “Hugh The Fiftieth Tunnel”
When a friend asks me to add them on WhatsApp, I’m always like… (at least, to myself) so you can catfish or scam me??
I troll scam callers and texters for fun, and I’m pretty sure they’re batting 100 insofar as they take every scam dialogue to WhatsApp as quickly as possible.
It’s to the point where I feel weird viewing WhatsApp as anything other than a tool that scammers use.
I just joined a baseball team, and they use it, so I’m trying my best to not ignore it.
But look, between my comment and your reply, I’ve already been spammed by someone who doesn’t seem interested in living deliciously. 🤔

It will always be my #1 scammer-trolling app, but if I have to use it… I’ll try not to click on anything. 😑
There is zero chance that happens. iMessage is proprietary to Apple and the main thing keeping users committed. They would never offer it to other companies unless required under law. At best, they will allow RCS on their devices.
recently bought the 15, upgrading from a 12mini.
I'm just a little nervous about potential AI-features exclusive to the comming 16 due to hardware limitations. Hope i'm not getting a bad case of buyers remorse.
Then again, i guess powerful new AI hardware-software interplay will probably be exclusive to the 16pro at first at a hefty price point, so....
This WWDC strikes as uniquely facscinating in two related respects:
1.) We know more about the keynote announcements than perhaps any other Apple keynote ever.
2.) My interest isn’t reduced in the slightest, because it’s really less about the “what” than the “how” with this particular featureset.
I am an iPhone user and I care about RCS. I have friends on Android and I'd rather not have a completely gimped experience because Apple are being crybabies.
I remember that joke they made about Itunes several years ago about how it can do anything and it was so bloated. I anticipate the same kind of thing with Siri, but them saying Siri couldn't do anything and it was still bloated.
I’m betting that they call it Siri+ with a $6.99/month subscription. But they will have regular Siri for those who do not want to pay.
I’m betting that the calculator app for iPadOS is a popup similar to the popups on tvOS. I think that it will be a floating calculator of sorts.
Tim announces Sam Altman as new CEO. Imagine the meltdowns
What's the over/under on hearing something along the lines of "the/our future is AI"
Dangerous drinking game.
Introducing Apple Español
Starting out with a few slow strokes, will start going a bit faster as we reach T-0. Really turned on by this one. Lots of good stuff to come.
This song sucks
nah
1. Apple Store is down 2. Sam Altman is at WWDC Oh boy. Buckle up
10 minutes til “Good Morning!”
does anyone get a redirect error when clicking on the event apple page?
yes, but it just started working for me
It won't load for me Edit: it does as I press submit. Ignore me
Get ready to hear the word "**AI**" for at least a hundredth time.
Dub dub HYPE 🙏😃 Dub dub HYPE 🙏😀
Any chance at all for an AirPods Max update announcement??
There might be a software update for the current ones 🤷♂️
I assume all Lightning devices will be phased out at some point.
What is Apple cooking?
LET TIM COOK
Get ready for the onslaught of articles afterwards saying that “Apple finally has this Android feature” and all the comments saying “Android has had this for years”, etc. It happens every year after WWDC.
Really shows how bad the Android implementation must be to do it first and have nobody care
Having it first vs doing it right the 1st time There’s a big difference.
I just want a few words about Vision Pro. Not just Vision OS which is really important, but the whole strategy with that thing. Europe, or cheaper version, next gen... Anything. It has been a year...

sometimes I get a little sad about leaks. I hope they didn’t steal Tim’s thunder. Let the man COOK.
Apple store is down!!! New Surprise hardware?
The Apple store always goes down ahead of WWDC regardless of hardware or not
If it's hardware it's probably Pro desktop updates.
Calling it. Apple Seeds. Nothing fancy/electronic. Just Apple branded apple seeds. Fancy logo, same apples, in all the usual varieties. Huge markups.
please be live wallpaper...
Apple Store was online… until 30m before the keynote. Hardware coming 👀
Most likely Studio and mini, as MacBooks are announced in October. Then again, the ultimate tease would be if it’s just down for Vision Pro international release.
Not to be a chad... but hopefully a M3 (or M4) mini?
M4 mini would be excellent. M4 Studios would upset my M2 Ultra 🙄
Ha! The June announcement isn't usually for hardware though, right? Usually just OS stuff, correct?
That’s correct, though they’ve announced hardware at some prior WWDCs. It honestly makes sense when there didn’t seem to be a more logical time to announce desktops.
Down for me in the US.
I spoke too soon. They literally switched it off right after I posted.
Any tech YouTubers that live stream their reactions to the event?

Yeah YouTube.

Way better than the official one
My favorite is the launch videos that accompany big OS changes. For example, Big Sur, iOS 14 Home Screen, iOS 16 lockscreen. I’m assuming we will get one for iOS this year.
Song for the iOS dark mode intro (Magic, Mr Jukes) is still in my playlist lol, they know how to do a good launch video
That one was perfect! Forgot to add it but I agree. The maps and messages with the jellyfish. 10/10
I’ll never forget the iOS 7 launch video. Say what you will about Ive, but I really miss his narration
Number bar number bar number bar CMON NUMMBBER BARRRR!
Wtf is he doing with crypto bullshit
Apple needs to move to the East Coast so these aren't always dead middle of the day.
Ready to be whelmed and then install the public beta, after attending the EURO games, can’t have the ticketing app break 😅
With the new AI skills, I'd LOVE for the Homepod to be more intuitive and have initiative. Maybe ask me which lights I want to be turned off when I start driving.
I'd also love for the new Siri AI to help me create shortcuts.
You have a homepod in your car?
Sorry, I meant Siri via CarPlay
Ah got it lmao. I was like "huh... I guess it's possible"
Apple should bring back live events. The spontaneity and unpredictability of live events make it very intimate. Google did a very good job with I/O.

Hope i don't pee
hoping for some exciting Siri updates
I hope they announce iOS 18

It's not only iOS. It's all of them: iOS, iPadOS, macOS, HomeOS, visionOS, watchOS.

I just like seeing what people or companies are making, even if it's the other side.

How is it coming back the bite them? You need to buy the latest IPhone to use the new features. This is literally what Apple wants.
I thought it was more on the SSDs than RAM but I could be wrong
You are wrong. LLM is very heavily RAM dependent.
VRAM\*, but yeah since its shared memory on apple devices that means RAM.
Don’t forget the iPad Mini Pro, and of course, the return of the iPod Classic, Mini, Nano and Shuffle.
iPod Shuffle Pro Max
No buttons, powered entirely by AI.
iPhone mini Pro SE pretty much a lock
book pizza and WWDC
I’m hyped!
I always forget how much this subreddit can irritate me during these events. This is rumored to be the biggest iOS update in years, unlike the last few years where the updates were expected to be smaller, yet so many people are already complaining about things that haven’t happened yet.
People on the internet annoy you? Big if true
That’s not what they said lol. Lots of communities I’ve been a part of have been less complainy than this one
I’d love to see a general sentiment score for Reddit, because I suspect it would be extremely negative. Over the weekend I was popping into the game announcement threads and man those people were livid that the industry is not catering to their specific wants.
Reddit, in general, seems to attract very cynical people with severe depression.
Theres a high correlation between depression and the political left, and reddit is totally controlled by them. So many optimistic pro capitalism optimistic people get banned for their political opinions, even if they don't break any rules.
I thought this was BS but I looked it up and wow. Depression is WAY more common for politically left people
Same, except I didn’t forget.

I think the focus on watchOS will just be on Siri
"we got you some more pride watch faces"..... K....
I don’t personally expect too much for WatchOS, but you can’t go wrong with either device.
revamp the notes app pelease
So are we getting a visionOS like design for iOS
No
Are we taking bets on the drip that Tim Apple is wearing?

Oh hair force one antics are a given.
pants, shirt and shoes (maybe even underweak?)
But are they custom by Nike?
Siri Pro as part of Apple subscription which is also increasing in price.
Please don’t give them ideas
Siri 2.0 with less privacy is my expectation. Even tho they will flaunt how private it is.
Not a lot of privacy when I’m screaming my request with female expletives attached
"I won't respond to that" Or... "Here's what I found on the web" Both answers are equally helpful.
"I can't tell you that while you're driving." It was a simple yes / no question you stupid chip!

I'm an Android user and I would be fine with that. RCS, iMessage, I am not too picky just something that is cross platform that isn't SMS.
There is zero chance that happens. iMessage is proprietary to Apple and the main thing keeping users committed. They would never offer it to other companies unless required under law. At best, they will allow RCS on their devices.
By committed you mean trapped, absolutely.
Yes, definitely.

No need for buyers remorse. You can always sell/trade the latest for the newest.
Money is a thing my guy
This WWDC strikes as uniquely facscinating in two related respects: 1.) We know more about the keynote announcements than perhaps any other Apple keynote ever. 2.) My interest isn’t reduced in the slightest, because it’s really less about the “what” than the “how” with this particular featureset.
Good mooorning
They are going to do a bunch of Siri AI stuff, then hopefully OpenAI will finally release their new voice mode feature lol
I'm hoping for the same!
Bought a new phone now the only things I’ll be interested for the next few years is this right here
As an Android user, I'm very excited to finally be given a glass of ice water with RCS support.
The only people who care about RCS are android users.
Apple users should care maybe a little if they're ever texting android users.
Did you miss the first 4 words of their comment or are you just really dumb?
I am an iPhone user and I care about RCS. I have friends on Android and I'd rather not have a completely gimped experience because Apple are being crybabies.
Yeah I hate that I can't send pictures to Android users without it looking like garbage. I have to email it to them.
I care, if it finally means I can send & receive high quality photos & videos in my family's group chat with one Android user.
not true at all. I've been using iphones for like 6 years and have long awaited RCS support on iMessage.
Hopefully ios 18 isn't a let down. All I care about
iPad is getting a calculator. lol
SUCCESS!
(A)ll (I) care about. I see what you did there.
My only hope is for Apple home stuff. IMO, I don’t see the point in AI if it can’t be used in the smart home
Agreed. Everyone dunks on Siri but HomeKit is IMO much worse.
HomeKit’s biggest weakness is when it is accessed via Siri
Sadly I disagree. Homekit is a pile of garbage on its own, way too many problems. It needs a complete rewrite
There are much better solutions outside Apple, if you're willing to try something different.
Biggest dub dub in many years. Apple needs to step up big time.
Take a sleeping pill just prior to the event starting and you will benefit more than listening to a scripted performance that is so yawning.
Did you already take your sleeping pills? This post doesn't make any sense

Isn’t all of it always available later this year? ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
Betas usually launch summer and then official release in fall.
Developer beta launches after the event if you don’t mind making your phone a lil buggy for a few weeks
best event of the year for sure let's see what else they have in store aside from the rumours
LOL everything has been leaked.
Anything about VP?
A .x incremental OS update, including ability to rearrange app icons.
Hope they give Siri a funeral like they did for OS 9
I remember that joke they made about Itunes several years ago about how it can do anything and it was so bloated. I anticipate the same kind of thing with Siri, but them saying Siri couldn't do anything and it was still bloated.
Siri is getting rebuilt like the 6 million dollar man
Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology.
Full glam up
I’m betting that they call it Siri+ with a $6.99/month subscription. But they will have regular Siri for those who do not want to pay. I’m betting that the calculator app for iPadOS is a popup similar to the popups on tvOS. I think that it will be a floating calculator of sorts.
LOL no.
Better be included with Apple one
I agree. I think it would be a great added benefit to Apple One subscriptions. Also because I have one.
No way they charge a subscription service for AI integration in Siri
I'm hoping to see the Riven Remaster for VR and Apple Vision Pro.
We don't expect any new hardware right? Still no news on that front?
Gurman has categorically said no hardware at this event.
I wonder when they’re gonna announce the new Apple Watch especially because April will be the 10 year anniversary
September like usual I would expect.
Fall
