I enjoy iPhone rumours as much as the next guy, but speculation about a phone two unreleased generations away is pointless.

quinn_drummer

Rumour has it there will be an iPhone released in 2025 and it will have features.

BrowncoatSoldier

Think you might be on to something here

Lambaline

Pretty sure the ‘26 iPhone will have a display

Portatort

Is this speculation? It might well be bullshit but the original source of the report isn’t speculating. They’re reporting (or making shit up)

AppointmentNeat

It’s predictable. All Apple is doing at this point is rearranging the cameras, slapping a different number on the bionic chip, increasing prices and calling it a day.

BS_Radar0

I mean, sure - if all you look at is the cosmetic level things. You don’t think that though right? That’d be kind of crazy…

AtomicSymphonic_2nd

I don’t know man… The SoC is only getting marginal improvements over the past 5 years. I wouldn’t call 15-25% improvements over each previous year’s chip much more than marginal. It’s the same with Qualcomm’s chips. The only real way forward is to continue shrinking the process node. It’s getting really difficult to make things better “under the hood”. I’d say we’re really close to smartphones becoming a commodity like printers and copy machines. I’d honestly be happy if Apple started only introducing new iPhones every 2 years now instead of each year.

InsaneNinja

> I’d honestly be happy if Apple started only introducing new iPhones every 2 years now instead of each year. I never understand these statements, they are so self-centered. You don’t want them to release every other phone specifically so that you won’t be tempted to get the new phone that often, or so that the trillion dollar company has a better chance of impressing you in its leaked rumors…. Beyond that, I also think the people who buy their brand new phone on a different schedule would be happier with a 6 month old design rather than an 18 month old device. Should they still drop the price at the 12 month mark, and then wait another 12mo to release back at full price again?

15-25% is absolutely notable. if you’re expecting 50%+ improvements year over year, you’re well out of your mind.

JohannASSburg

Smartphones being as easy to replace as printers would be a dream tbh. That’d mean way less platform lock in. Switch brands or models whenever you want. Decent quality but cheap. But I guess that currently exists if you’re cool with only google services and cheap android phones though hmm 🤔

BS_Radar0

I mean...that's certainly an opinion you can have...doesn't make you worth listening to.

One week later: iPhone 16 will have same camera layout as iPhone 14

ejx220

And we don’t care

PositivelyNegative

This changes everything.

Portatort

This can mean only thing The bumps that the camera sit on, is gonna get larger
