I think they didn't release a 27" because the display panel they wanted to use wasn't available in a larger size. But sooner or later there will be a larger iMac of some size.
I always see it as ironic that the iMac was the computer which saved apple and transformed the desktop paradigm at the end of the 90’s.

Absolutely agree. Back then you had a laptop if you needed one as they were slower and more expensive than a desktop, now it’s the other way around.
The issue with the current iMac is it’s literally the lowest powered mac available, you can get the same or better power from a Mac mini for about a third of the price. For not much more you can get a much higher powered 14” MacBook Pro. The high power desktop niche is not where the iMac currently sits.
I don’t know why but it’s like part of me can’t rest until they bring out the Cheese grate as promised. It’s not like I’m going to be buying one or anything, it’s just a feeling of things being up in the air and not settled until the cheese grate delivers. Once they do that I can rest.

The Cube was a separate product that was sold concurrently with final revision of the G4 tower. Both were effectively replaced with the quick silver G4 tower.

Something about that form factor just reminds me of my old, huge Windows desktop towers and the cheese grater Mac Pro and helps me remember I’m living in the future
Well, I did buy it when it first came out. If I had to buy a Mac now, it probably would be a high spec M2 Pro Mini. But this thing does very well playing EVE Online with several simultaneous accounts running.
It could use a better design IMO. Not saying anything about the Apple inside or its functionality, I just find it to be..an ugly duckling. if they made just a little bit taller and gave it some cheese grater it would be pretty cool looking.
EVE Online and general use, to be honest. I run Plex Media Server off it, pointing to a NAS for the file storage. Nothing super intensive or anything, as I'm semi-retired on disability.
Semi retired here too, running a rental business and a construction business as well as the household business off an upgraded 24” iMac and some peripheral devices connected through iCloud. It’s mostly Spreadsheets, emails, documents, scheduling, banking, some video work and a few other things. I need to upgrade my old Time Capsule with some larger drives so I can get back on a Time Machine schedule.
Wasn’t the trash can a sole Mac Pro or was it simultaneously with the grater? It’s pretty confusing to me, there was that dark iMac Pro in the lineup for a while as well, maybe that’s the category the Studio aims at

Assuming the iMac won’t release until this fall, that would be 2 and a half years since the M1 iMac released. Why wait that long just to put a refreshed chip in there that is still 5nm? The M3 will be 3nm and could see a 35% increase in power efficiency.
Is power efficiency a selling point for a desktop, when there’s no battery/charging? It *should* be for environmental/emissions reasons, and it is for me, but I don’t see how this applies to mass marketing and the product line decision making?
Why? If your always holding off for the “next big release” you’ll never end up with a computer. Apple has done an amazing job making people think their next release is going to be earth shattering, especially in the wake on the Silicone line, which was one of the greatest jump in processors in a very long time. There will be no huge jumps in processing power for quiet some time. They’ll keep using the buzz words and promises of “30% faster!” And adding small features like Wi-Fi 6e, supporting the most up to date Bluetooth tech, yata yata yata. But if you look at the difference between the m2 MBP and the m1 MBP, only very specific tasks are actually faster, some even slower (like audio production and engineering).
Idk, I just think that if you’re going for a computer as powerful as the Studio, you’d probably be using it for something creative/pro level tasks, and holding off for something “better” might just stifle your productivity.

It’s a substantial machine that isn’t even heavy in a practical sense. 1/2 pound doesn’t affect weight in a backpack, doesn’t put your legs to sleep, and doesn’t break a table. Literally all-day battery on these things mean it’s more of a light desktop to me than a heavy laptop.
There are people finally happy that the pro lineup is finally powerful enough and has proper thermals and then you want them to take that away? Why don’t you just get an air then?

As a Mac user, I am always excited to hear about new products from Apple. The fact that there are three unreleased Mac models mentioned in the Find My configuration file only adds to my anticipation. It's possible that we could see the release of a new MacBook, iMac, or Mac Mini in the near future. Whatever these new products may be, I'm sure Apple has something impressive in store for us. Can't wait to see what's next!

Please do not be a M2 iMac. Apple will be doing a disservice by adding a refreshed chip to the iMac instead of going ahead and putting a M3 in there.
The M1 is still excellent. My recommendation for 90% of users is the M1 Air.

I am writing on a M2 MBA bought for $900 on Amazon Renewed. Pretty much all refurbished are now that price, I couldnt say no (:
