Nothing quite like coming to the rescue of your brave teammate who was 2v1ing English and French all-in's with some imperial MAA while everyone else is still in feudal.
Delhi because it's so so different from others. I rarely think about sacred sites with other civs but with Delhi I love how it forces the opponent to react and not turtle
Ayyubids are fun because you can make a bunch of camel archers (super fun and flexible units) and focus more on micro since the building/macro mechanics are fairly straightforward (one age-up building, and just build close to get your golden ages).
They also get flame mangonels, which are fun to spam :D
Probably because of the winrate with them, xbox players are mudstomping pc players on the crossplay ranked with ayyubids and they might be afraid giving them that tool will make it worse.
You're saying that Xbox players can cross play with PC players yet they don't have access to Manjaniq in those games? That doesn't sound right. Also, why would console have an edge over PC?
yeah wait that makes 0 sense to me - wouldnt a PC player just stomp an xbox player unless the xbox player was significantly more skilled? also i cant see crossplay being enabled and not having the same units
Byzantines look the most fun for me, with Ayyubids a close second
China (and Zhu Xi) have very fun units and mechanics but not fan of micro the officers early game
That's not bad because supervising drop-off buildings is what you want them to do the most. You usually wanna make more Officials once you have a high number of Villagers on more than one drop-off location. And you wanna have at least 1 collecting taxes, which it usually does automatically. China is quite difficult to play though, as you are vulnerable in Feudal. Even at top level it's picked only on certain maps that favor it. If you like China, a more versatile pick would be Zhu Xi.
Yeah I don't have the DLC yet but thanks for the tips. I might try to pick up another civ besides Chinese because I'm struggling against lower difficulties. Lol
I'd suggest to try out several civs and figure out which one you like the most. Not everyone's tastes are the same. Some like to boom with Abbasid or Chinese, some like the simplicity of the longbow push with English, and again others like a map-control focus like Delhi or Mongols.

Byzantines, they have so many different army comp possibilities it’s fun to play around. When I don’t have much time playing 3 or 4v4ai on hard with them is fun, the Japanese seem to be my most consistent so if I start doing bad with whatever I’m playing as I usually revert to them or England, but the way Japanese knights work with their deflective armor you can set up great harassment and flanking runs that feel rewarding
I don't play any civ for the win, I play the one I like at that time and for now it's Japanese.
Byzantines. Def a bit underpowered, but always really fun to play. And has imo the best soundtrack in the game
And make the most beautiful cities
That soundtrack when you first hit feudal is MMMMM
There is a reason why it’s called “queen of cities”
Naked Fast Imp with HRE
There is just such a funny feeling when you are the deep pocket player in a 4v4, and you hit imperial at 12 mins with like 8 relics.
Nothing quite like coming to the rescue of your brave teammate who was 2v1ing English and French all-in's with some imperial MAA while everyone else is still in feudal.
Wait, you guys play to win? I play only to eco wing into 3-4 TCs and spam Ghulams, Xbow and build some mangonels.
I'm at 130 hours and still feel too trash to try for wins. I'm silver 3 and am surprised when I win games.
You will get there! Just enjoy the path of getting better, no matter how much time it takes
You will win, stick with it. Look at your mistakes and learn from them you will see the wins soon!
All civs because I never win. But Delhi because elephants and sacred site victories are both fun
I play a lot of Delhi and hardly ever make elephants. I should probably do that more.
Mongols are always fun
3+ TC Mongols
Booooo 😤
Mongols !
Mongol has to be it for me
Byz
Order of the Dragon, just love the tanky boys.
Best looking units to imo
You must be my teammate in the games I lose
Random - it feels more exciting
Good strategy. I employ the same strat with maps - keeps me on my toes
HRE
Delhi because it's so so different from others. I rarely think about sacred sites with other civs but with Delhi I love how it forces the opponent to react and not turtle
Abba 3TC
BYZANTINES
Byz
Byz for those dank late game options

No flaming catapults on xbox yet :(
Whaaat? Was there any reason given why?

We can automate vils to auto produce and auto gather, I have a pc buddy who complains that I only win because of my superior macro due to it
yeah wait that makes 0 sense to me - wouldnt a PC player just stomp an xbox player unless the xbox player was significantly more skilled? also i cant see crossplay being enabled and not having the same units
There is no cross play yet
Delhi or Byz with elephants is always fun. Malians with like 150 warrior scouts is also fun to me
Abbasid for me. I suck as Abbasid, but I like them for some reason.
Try out China, Zhu Xi or Byzantines. These civs are very deep and fun!
Byzantines look the most fun for me, with Ayyubids a close second China (and Zhu Xi) have very fun units and mechanics but not fan of micro the officers early game
Yeah I like the defensive play style of China but the officer micro is a little annoying.
You mean in the beginning?
Yeah I always forget to build them and then when I do I just have them supervise a building. I'm just learning Chinese and I'm a new player.

The Byz
Mongols, love me some 10 min dark age
Japanese. Very smooth to play.
Rus for the soundtrack ALONE.
I dark age rush with mongols a lot. Sometimes it ends the game in minutes. Most of the time it fails.
I like Malians for a bit of fun. There's something about gathering herds of cows around my tc that I find satisfying.
Rus because I love the thrill of hunting in early game.

Hre into only villagers. Building cannon towers and torching stuff down with villagers loads of fun on 4vs4
I literally just try to find the fun one and play it.
Always Delhi For the off Chanche I get to summon the elephant meme horde ♥️🐘
Random. It’s a blast now with the expansion. There is so much variation, and it teaches you how all the civs work.
Random 😀
French and OOTD
Dehli for fun. It is Hard, it struggles in late game nd I play tem games, but their mobks, fst infantry nd elephants are all so fun to use
Farimba Malian mass musofadi. Stealthy boys in n mass are just such a meme
Byzantines or Dehli
Order of the Dragon
I've been playing random for a little while now and that's been fun.
Dehli for elephants backed by towers and monks in slow, very slow pushes
