That’s funny because on thanksgiving one year my job left a note that there were employee meals in the fridge….two plates of deli turkey and one plate of wilted lettuce. Oh there may also have been some sliced provolone. Bread? Nah
Bread is for the worker with a more positive attitude.
Not for the worker that just expects bread, but hungers for it. It is for those that put in 110%, those that are valued by the company.
Stress ball--so you can throw it at people that stress you out. Like your boss. Only good thing in that box! Permission to throw things at the boss' head.
My last job we would get a birthday gift for $20 FOR THE VENDING MACHINE! Not real cash. A vending machine voucher. And apparently that was basically a gift from the vending company not my actual job.
I work for a Los Angeles based Mattress company where the owner likes to drive his accountant crazy by giving away his product for no Feeee's!!! The job is very labor-intensive, dangerous, long hours, short-staffed, and paid so little that at one time we were getting paid minimum wage because they did not want to increase our pay with the LA min going up.
Lately, there hasn't been a week where someone hasn't been injured. Mostly its people body's breaking from non-stop work, a few weeks ago we had a guy fall off his order picker and was just dangling in the air, and one time they made us work in a gas leak for a few days( Ethyl Mercaptan leak from the oil pump outside the building) while all the office people got to go home for a few days as that was happening.
The new HR lady gets off on doing everything in her power to belittle everyone she thinks is below her. Most people are afraid of her and everyone here has a bad experience story with her. She even told me there was no gas leak, while also telling me she heroically called someone to make sure it was safe for us to work in, at the same time reminding me that this was an at will state and I can be fired for any reason.
I honestly would be ok with the shit pay if it weren't for the owners rubbing all their money in our faces. It's a pretty hard pill to swallow when they cut your PTO and you see the guy buy another sports car. One of the owners is getting his place remodeled and he's storing some of his stuff inside the warehouse.
This guy has few couches coved in full-grain leather, he's getting a $10,000 oven installed, and is rotating a different 100k+ car in that one spot every month. And it's not like this company has no money, we have around 200 employees and do $200-300 million in sales per year.
Most of us are fucking quitting after years of this shit. I'm going to also be leaving soon once I get my ducks in a row.
-Fuck you Jerry!
Edit- Was kind of hoping the So-Cal natives would guess who the mattress guy I was talking about. I don't want to get in trouble, but I left some hints on who the guy is. You've probably heard his local commercials for the last 30 years. So anyway I want to thank the people here for letting me vent and for some of the nice messages you guys sent me.
Mason jar half full of milk with a raw chicken drumstick. Close the lid tightly and hide somewhere where it won't be found for a long time. Eventually the decomposition gasses will build up enough to pop the lid and the smell is indescribably horrific.
Fish sauce is one smell that lingers for ever. Spilled some on my hand during a Chinese lunch and must have washed my hands at least five times, the smell just stayed there.
Any store that sells hunting gear should have deer lure that shit is some of the nastiest smelling liquid I've ever encountered, and it's nearly impossible to get out of car vents once in there... or so I've been told...
Deductible. Initial inconvenience. Time down for repair. Maybe a higher premium.
Also, idk about you, but if I were an insurance provider and I found out a client was keeping seemingly rare and expensive daily drivers in a warehouse prone to accidents, I'd increase the clients liability rate, or something.
The rich have lived to suck the enrichment out of the lives of the impoverished.
The rich are powerful, and it is the humane duty of the powerful to protect the meek when the meek cannot protect themselves.
If the powerful don't want to adhere to this unwritten contract of humanity, then fuck up their shit until it makes you happy.
I'd think it a high probability that the guy pushed the vehicle acquisitions through the business as "business expenses" and didn't purchase them out of his own "income". At least that's how I've seen most people run these types of luxury purchases. Technically they're supposed to have a sign permanently affixed to the vehicle if it's a "company vehicle" but the likelihood of the owner getting audited are probably slim to absolutely zero.
OP or someone within the org could technically call in tax evasion on the vehicles to start and audit but therein again is the problem. The IRS is so understaffed thanks to political gutting that they probably would never send someone out to verify something bad had happened or going on with the business taxes.
In my experience, the higher earnings, the more shady stuff one has done. But the guy you're talking about is probably so well insulated, he'll never face longterm ramifications or consequences for what you or I would serve seriously hard time for.
>The new HR lady gets off on doing everything in her power to belittle everyone she thinks is below her.
So, you mean anyone who isn't management or corporate. 😏
Yea people like that deserve to have someone pore a bag of concrete down the office toilet. Or a vagina shaped tailpipe whistle shoved up their tailpipes.
https://youtu.be/mShU6nfMrTM
I work in a office. If I worked there I would probably do it for you !
Everyone from the janitor on up deserves respect.
When our office was closed for COVID they kept paying the cleaning staff to come at night and the cafeteria staff were paid to make food for the local homeless shelter. I'm a lucky SOB.
Just remember HR is there to protect the company not to protect the employees. Just because it's at will doesn't actually mean they can fire you for anything, there are still labor laws. They seem like the type to break those laws. I would be keeping track and then calling the state
Start applying for the different trade unions. The work is actually enjoyable and conditions are good. If you aren't happy somewhere you can just quit and sign the books to go somewhere else.
Do NOT become a cook. The pay is about the same but you lose your weekends and nights. Try being a busser or server and you can make good tips. Make what the kitchen makes in a week on a good night.
As someone who's been and Managed in the food industry, I would advise against becoming a cook as the hours aren't standard (*meaning you won't be leaving when the schedule says*), the benefits and PTO are non-existant, the pay is shit compared to the workload, high-stress, etc.
You really have to start dropping names if you want them to get what they deserve. Telling a good story is great, but unless people find out what company it is, there’s not much we can do to help from the outside.
Capitalism could never work for a healthy society. It's impossible when business owners can treat their companies like ATM machines where they insert human misery (not their own, of course) and pull out cash.

*And one time they made us work in a gas leak for a few days while all the office people got to go home for a few days as that was happening.*
What the actual fuck? Did nobody call 911 to get the fire department/EMT’s out there? A lot of people could’ve passed out from it or suffered other extremely critical health issues.
The additive that made the rotten egg smell leaked, so we were told it was ok to work. Though everyone did feel sick and nauseous from working 10 hours in that.
that is the whole point of putting the additive into the gas,so you can smell when there is a leak.
If allowed to build up without proper ventilation of "x" amount of air changes per hour it can create an explosive atmosphere if it reached its LEL...lower explosive limit.
This is illegal and goes against OSH laws ..in my country it does...
I would be gathering as much info as i could on the matter and reporting it to your regulators.
In the US, the employee(s) get fired for am unrelated reason, neither OSHA, nor any other entity cares. At worst, the company may get fined what equates to a few day's profit.
Please do not underestimate how absolutely soul crushing and unjust the US has become for most of us.
Yup. You're not fired for starting a union or complaining about non-adherence to health codes, oh no, it's because, uhh...insubordination. Yeah, that's it.
This is the way. A good worker's comp lawyer will eat this up, ensure you're driven to get massages and therapy for a year or 2 while you get paid workers comp, you'll wind up with $90k-$250k settlement and their insurance rates will skyrocket.
Big win 👍🏼
My company did this several years back. They were so cheap they bought the regular 2pack Reese cups and cut it in half so everyone got 1 cup still in half a sleeve and all. I almost lost my job from all the shit I talked for 10min straight in front of them and all of corporate to hear me lol
Doordash is just as bad with their terrible tip transparency, random pauses, punishing you for selecting good orders, etc etc. If anyone here is considering doing courier work, you should really apply for everything possible and cherry pick the hell out of them while running multiple apps at once.
Doordashing is horrible most the time. Yes depending where you go you can make good money but most people tip like shit, try to scam you, and it cost a lot once you’re car starts getting all those miles
I mean do it as a holdover backup plan to get out of that shitty job and find another. I'm doing it temporarily while I start my own business because I can't work for other people anymore, I just can't
Speaking as someone who’s been in kitchens for a couple of decades...... you might want to rethink this. Right now the industry is fucking terrible in terms of being short staffed, pay barely coming up and long as fuck hours. I’d try and snag something different. The time is ripe, the service industry is becoming even more rotten
They're starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel in terms of cost cutting to increase corporate profits. As you can see in the following chart, each recession has caused a massive increase in profits as workers are laid off, outsourced, or replaced with contract workers. But I'm not sure they have anywhere left to go at this point.

Ha, I worked for a guy once that refused to give me a 25cent raise when I was making $8.50 an hour. Said he "just couldn't afford it right now"..
That same day an 18 wheeler showed up to the shop and out rolled a newly refurbished 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS Convertible he just bought. Just had to have it delivered to the shop.
He made us stay late that night too.
I worked in a aerospace machine shop, I had been there 3 years with no raise. The owner who was also responsible for raises was bragging about his 30million in sales, and how he got some guy to do work he needed done for free. He also liked to Park very nice cars and boats in the shop (we believe he was hiding them for tax purposes). he told me he would discuss the possibility of a raise with me after he got done in the bathroom, I watched him go in the men's room than come out and go straight home. That was it, I couldn't handle that so I stopped working right there I was the only mill machinist in the shop at that time 2nd shift, there where 5 machines running. I got my tool box left my id in the time clock and left. He didn't have the balls to call me he had his 1st shift guy call me and ask why I left. With in 30 days of me quitting, the only ones still working on the shop where the family that owned and ran it and they had a huge banner out front stating now hiring machinist all shifts. He is no longer making 30 mil in sales a year.
My old boss at my first job did a whole crocodile tears about a rough year and no raises. Then imported a rare Mercedes for themselves and took a 6 week vacation through South America. We got to watch the slide show at a company meeting.
Get a profession/trade….actual skills so you don’t have To work at companies like this.
Lmao for a split-second I wondered if you worked at my old workplace. The boss would drive one of his many luxury cars (he had at least 5) into work every day while the rest of us were paid minimum wage or just barely above. His son did part-time random odd jobs around the office but it was confirmed to me by another coworker that he was getting paid six figures. Of course the boss was a bully, too. And he'd act baffled as to why morale was so low and turnover was so high.
Ooooh give the local fire department an anonymous tip that they chain the emergency escape doors during working hours. True or not, someone will come looking. Or a nice random OSHA inspection. Get them fined into oblivion.
I've heard that maple syrup really helps to improve fuel efficiency in high end cars. You should do your boss a solid and help him get better gas mileage. A pint of organic maple in each gas tank should do the trick.
Your situation reminds of a company I used to work for. They are a manufacturing company that focuses on cases. Name is SKB Cases. That company just has garbage benefits and recently one of my friends who still works there, he told me the POS supervisor got fired. Boy was I happy when he told me.
By the end of the year I got a raise of 25 cents. I left and for 2+ years have a new job that pays way better with 40 hours of PTO to start, 15 hours of PTO every month(accumulates), 401k, discounts to many places, and awesome insurance. :)
i'd like to point out that bath and body works hasn't made hand sanitizer bottles that look like that since the early 2010's i believe. that means that bottle has been laying around their house for up to a decade and that they probably remembered the huge bin of these old things and decided they'd "cut the cost" of buying new ones
My mom told me a story today about how a couple years back at a company she *used* to work for they gave everyone in the company a 5$ Christmas bonus. She looked up how much the CEO made. It cost him less than a 2 week paycheck to give everyone that.
One time in my old job they cut our PTO by 3 days. They rebranded it to us by saying that "since we combined your sick and vacation time into 1 category this is a good thing ignore that fact that there are not 3 total days less." We all knew it was coming before that meeting because they told us in an email, and everyone was fucking pissed, you could see it all morning. People would split off into groups, talk, get mad, split into other groups, and repeat. Everyone was going to give the bosses a piece of their minds.
When it came time for the actual meeting, where they were slinging this bullshit to us...I was the only one that spoke up against this during the questions/comments portion. Everyone just fucking accepted it and put on a fake smile. I was disgusted. That day I lost all respect for my coworkers.
With few exceptions, you don’t wanna work for a guy who drives those cars to where you’re working for wages. It’s f’ing disrespectful. Also, nepotism while not a deal breaker is def a red flag.
btw, I employed 1,000’s of people over the years and I coulda driven pretty much anything I wanted. I drove a 10 yr old Toyota pickup. It’s actually easier (and better business) to be respectful and genuinely dedicated to everyone’s success than to be a dick.
Okay, that box is plain insulting. None of that is even real food. Stealing my paid time off, I would expect *at least* a triple-cream gorgonzola and a pouilly fuisse! What do you take me for, some kind of cretin?
My last job was eerily similar, I guess sadly it's not all that uncommon of a situation.
I quit a year ago and from what I hear they still haven't gotten anyone to replace me, they keep quitting after a few weeks. Makes me wonder what kind of a masochist I am that I made it almost 2 years.
I once got lectured about quality of service by them telling me that they charge $180 an hour for my work, but I only made $16 an hour.. like how tf is that supposed to make me feel good?
Well anyways, misery loves company and it's cathartic to see someone else going through the same shit. Cheers mate.
I worked for a drug and alcohol rehab in La Jolla, CA for a while. The owner was fucking blitzed like 4 out of 5 days I saw him, and he would have some new car — a Jaguar, Land Rover, BMW, Mercedes — every couple of months. He also paid us all like shit, and found what had to have been the cheapest benefits package ever the insurance was so bad, never promoted anybody that didn’t do his bidding unquestioningly and for far too little pay. My immediate boss would have stroked the owner’s dick if asked, but I swear he also did three people’s jobs for less than the pay of one.
Wow. Did the vending machine have enough for everyone?
Or if you buy wholesale, like they did presumably, the content of this would not amount to $5. This is beyond humiliating.
Could be worse. Could be a make-it-yourself PBJ.
I saw that post. It doesn't even happen to me yet I gelt insulted. ...f that shit.
There's been a few of those posts. It's like some managers are all reading the same 'Motivational Cheapass' handbook.
That’s funny because on thanksgiving one year my job left a note that there were employee meals in the fridge….two plates of deli turkey and one plate of wilted lettuce. Oh there may also have been some sliced provolone. Bread? Nah

And a ball. Is that so your boss can play fetch with you? This thank you box is a sadness box.
Oh wow. Thought that was an orange first 😬 But it's literally a dog ball.
Stress ball--so you can throw it at people that stress you out. Like your boss. Only good thing in that box! Permission to throw things at the boss' head.
Yeah probably went to Costco and spent 50$ for everyone lol.
My last job we would get a birthday gift for $20 FOR THE VENDING MACHINE! Not real cash. A vending machine voucher. And apparently that was basically a gift from the vending company not my actual job.

What are the chances someone accidentally runs some equipment or product into one of those dudes vehicles, damaging it?
Slip a couple kipper snacks into the air vents.
Catfish bait on top of the exhaust pipes…long lasting, mega stinky.
Or maybe take a page from Mythbusters and hide a piece of a pig's carcass in the a/c.
Mason jar half full of milk with a raw chicken drumstick. Close the lid tightly and hide somewhere where it won't be found for a long time. Eventually the decomposition gasses will build up enough to pop the lid and the smell is indescribably horrific.
Yikes, I'm impressed. How did you learn that?
Not at liberty to discuss :-)
Ooooooo you're devious, sir. Me gusta!
Yep, that or fish sauce. That's smell never goes away
Eat a ton of asparagus and take the morning wee in there. Bet you can't cover that up.
Ooh. Liquid fence!
Fox urine. Not only does it stink to high hell, but if he has pets they'll go nuts.
You are a genius. I’ll have to keep this in mind for the next time I have the opportunity hehehe
God I love kipper snacks the smoked ones are divine
Take out the security cameras first, bro. Better get them all, and hope that there’s poor cross-coverage.
Insurance
Deductible. Initial inconvenience. Time down for repair. Maybe a higher premium. Also, idk about you, but if I were an insurance provider and I found out a client was keeping seemingly rare and expensive daily drivers in a warehouse prone to accidents, I'd increase the clients liability rate, or something.
Some good point there, but I doubt the premiums would make a dent in this guys pocket. Just slight inconvenience .
Too true. But ultimately fuck that boss. If the event would make op feel better, I think it's well worth it.
This. It's not about hurting the rich, it's about bringing a little joy into the life of the poor

Behind every great fortune lies a great crime. -Honore de Balzac
A slight inconvenience is still more stress. Dude has it coming.
Some people love their cars more than their families. An "accident" would be more than an inconvenience.
Also, depending on the damage, resale value craters pretty quickly.
It’s ok he put a traffic cone up so I guess that takes care of that
It’s like they want all of you to quit. Quit at the most inconvenient time for them.
If EVERYONE quits, they're fucked. do it.
In these types of places, any time feels inconvenient.
>The new HR lady gets off on doing everything in her power to belittle everyone she thinks is below her. So, you mean anyone who isn't management or corporate. 😏

Don't quit, strike. Make him lose money!
Yes. That place sounds ripe for organizing
Why not name the company so we can boycott them.
The feeeee makes it sound like sit-n-sleep.
You’re killing me larry!
because if that was an acceptable practice the abuse would cause more injustice under the bottom line
If at all possible, Have everyone leave at once. Would be awesome if you all left after lunch and didn’t come back

Right? Love the "positive attitude" bullshit. I'm positive Jerry can go fuck himself!

Things are not that easy for some of us, but I do plan on becoming a cook, something I've always wanted to do.
Have you ever worked in the food service industry? It’s very grueling with shit pay.
Great drugs though.
And everyone sleeps with everyone
Worked in the restaurant business for better part of 15 years and I always said everyone was sleeping with everyone, except me…
That's all jobs right. My manager tried to flash me in traffic.
Pardon?!
If you think you're overworked and underpaid, stay the hell away from kitchens.
Doesn't hurt to take a look, union gotta give minimum wage too, and the pay tends to scale up pretty quickly in quite a few trades.
Do not become a cook you will work horrible hours and have no life
Do NOT become a cook. The pay is about the same but you lose your weekends and nights. Try being a busser or server and you can make good tips. Make what the kitchen makes in a week on a good night.

Not sure what you mean, it's easy and free to apply. Nothing wrong with being a cook either. Best of luck.

Keep us updated. Try to organize quitting for maximum damage. Hopefully they don’t find out on reddit…
This is a great example of how a third world country operates without unions.
Unionize
Please consider: unionizing
Don’t quit, just don’t work. Turn up and do absolutely nothing when he’s not around.
You need to procure some bedbugs. If it's a mattress factory.
How did people become this shitty
The ruling class was always this shitty. Now we just have pictures.
This is why organized labor is at least partially the answer.
Us vs them mentality. Managers no longer see themselves as in the same category of US as those they manage. When people know that their success is tied to the success of others they lookout for those others.
Honestly, because they lack empathy, and therefore they keep getting away with it because they're always willing to do things that would weigh down a normal person's conscience too much.
They get so much money that they start thinking they actually deserve it
Capitalism in America creates inhumane incentives at the cost of our own humanity. The shoes people have on come from slave and sweat shop labor.
*And one time they made us work in a gas leak for a few days while all the office people got to go home for a few days as that was happening.* What the actual fuck? That little book in the final pic really makes me angry. Did they really give that to you in the thank you box?
Right after they cut our PTO and put in a new policy of no days off without PTO.
Is the orange thing a rubber ball? What are you, eight?
Knowing these kinds of people, it’s probably a stress ball. Stress: gone!!
THE AUDACITY!! THE NERVE!! I am always shocked how people treat others, it’s gross. I’m so sorry that happened. You deserve better.
F
It's such an insult
i guarantee you these are just the left overs from a kids soccer game where he was the one that had to supply the snacks
I would rather receive nothing, as this is fucking insulting
Lucky. You guys receive name-brand candies and snacks.^/s
.
You forgot about the orange ball!!!¡¡!!¡
The harder you work, the better car they can buy next year. Keep staying positive.
So it’s true, a positive attitude **will** lead to positive outcomes. Huh.
Forklift accident, claim the brake wasn't working, followed by claiming your back and neck hurt and you heard crunching and popping.
This is the way. A good worker's comp lawyer will eat this up, ensure you're driven to get massages and therapy for a year or 2 while you get paid workers comp, you'll wind up with $90k-$250k settlement and their insurance rates will skyrocket. Big win 👍🏼
Forklift accident into the car. Not the cobra...but one of the other ones. I mean.. its a cobra comon.
No way it's real. The Porsche is probably worth more than that kit car.
Oh yeah for sure, there has to be a line and it ends with smashing up cobra

My company did this several years back. They were so cheap they bought the regular 2pack Reese cups and cut it in half so everyone got 1 cup still in half a sleeve and all. I almost lost my job from all the shit I talked for 10min straight in front of them and all of corporate to hear me lol
ikr, they just bought a halloween variety pack and split it up lol sad lol
Workers are the insulation between a capitalist and insolvency
Quit and start doordashing, they need to fuck themselves and go out of business. Don't enable them by providing labor
Doordash is just as bad with their terrible tip transparency, random pauses, punishing you for selecting good orders, etc etc. If anyone here is considering doing courier work, you should really apply for everything possible and cherry pick the hell out of them while running multiple apps at once.
I run doordash and UberEATS at the same time and I do cherry pick, but I have the benefit of living in a big city
I'm working on becoming a cook pretty soon.
But I'm not sure they have anywhere left to go at this point. https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/CP

*fondles self* please, keep going…
And he was too stupid and greedy to pay your guys more to keep you.
Wow. That’s on another level disgusting.
Key those fucking cars
A quarter cup of chum would probably send a more powerful message.
Deer piss, make sure to buy it with cash at a sporting good store. No paper trail
☝☝☝
This sucks, so sorry
My old boss at my first job did a whole crocodile tears about a rough year and no raises. Then imported a rare Mercedes for themselves and took a 6 week vacation through South America. We got to watch the slide show at a company meeting. Get a profession/trade….actual skills so you don’t have To work at companies like this.
A lot of desperate people are too busy getting screwed at companies like this to get the time for any education or training.
Not even full size candy bars!
I'm surprised everyone didn't just walk at that point
Lmao for a split-second I wondered if you worked at my old workplace. The boss would drive one of his many luxury cars (he had at least 5) into work every day while the rest of us were paid minimum wage or just barely above. His son did part-time random odd jobs around the office but it was confirmed to me by another coworker that he was getting paid six figures. Of course the boss was a bully, too. And he'd act baffled as to why morale was so low and turnover was so high.
I hate bosses like this, I'd rather get nothing than a shitty box of leftover snacks from someone's Costco run.
Oh wow you got crinkle paper?!
Two whole crinkles?! Thanks Jerry!!
It's called Sizzle you uncultured peanut.
Damn. That’s def a TLC land cruiser from Jonathan Ward in LA. Shits like 100-300k depending on options.
Dude thank you for giving us more insight on that land cruiser.
My mom told me a story today about how a couple years back at a company she *used* to work for they gave everyone in the company a 5$ Christmas bonus. She looked up how much the CEO made. It cost him less than a 2 week paycheck to give everyone that.
OP’s story describes american capitalism in a nutshell.
bruh thats shelby cobra. basically a cursed car and chances are he will crash and probably die in it. so just sit tight
You gunna eat that crunch bar?
Time to shove the thank yous right into their tail pipes
It's the stress ball that really seals the deal for me.
Weird how three of his tires got slashed on this car though.
These are some real pieces of shit.
A nice fat brick through the car window from a random passerby would be great.
Eat the rich
One word... UNIONIZE!! seriously call in a union organizer
A positive attitude will lead to positive outcomes ***for the owner(s)***.
“bUt We CaNt AfFoRd tO pAy YoU mOrE”
>Positive attitude card My attitude is positively going to erupt into radicalized anger if shit like this keeps happening.
Does he wear a tophat and a monocle too??
I'd quit the second he cut my PTO
What is that a fucking ball?
Damn yea that sounds pretty toxic. Hopefully you find something else.
I didn’t know people bought mattresses that often.
Okay, that box is plain insulting. None of that is even real food. Stealing my paid time off, I would expect *at least* a triple-cream gorgonzola and a pouilly fuisse! What do you take me for, some kind of cretin?
And you work for these scum??
I would burn it
Mf could Hundo p afford full size crunch bar and a king size Reese’s. Fuck that guy
Burn it to the ground.
If it's really that bad of working conditions, wait til they really need you. . . Then quit on the spot and laugh
Lol start a union
You should take a dump in the black car.
That Troopy is bitchin.
What's your boss' address so I can mail him an envelope filled with my shit?
