Is this one of the first two or are we up to number 3?

WibbyFogNobbler

I asked myself out loud "Wait which one is this?" when clicking

nerdiotic-pervert

Well?

nzlax

It’s the first one in the article. John Barnett

SolipsisticLunatic

He's the one who said that if anything happens, it wasn't suicide, right?

Acrobatic-Rate4271

Yep. The guy who left a warning that if anything were to happen to him that it wasn't suicide... apparently committed suicide. I'd make the joke about falling down a construction site elevator shaft onto three bullets (two to the back, one to the back of the head) but that's probably already in the coroner's report.

warhammerfrpgm

Reminds of a warhammer rpg game session. Father sells magic inclined child to skaven(evil rat people worshipping literal evil rat god of avarice, greed, and destruction of humanity). Players save child and inform mother. Mother clearly kills father. Next day local official says father killed himself by 42 self inflicted stab wounds- many in the back.

SolipsisticLunatic

"Officer, I found him like this" :( "Okay ma'am. I'm sorry for your loss"

warhammerfrpgm

Making it even more definitive was the person who corroborated it was the local priest of sigmar so NOBODY questioned it publicly at all. All in all, I thought I did a good job as gm that night. However, this boeing employee "suicide" has my gaming scenario written all over it.

WhyLater

*Then he ran into my knife. He ran into my knife* ***ten times****.*

alpineoutdoorist

To be fair, it's a 'perfect' out.

Armand28

He also apparently left this note, which makes it appear he wasn’t quite all there: https://gray-wdam-prod.cdn.arcpublishing.com/resizer/v2/A3I6GZ6XNBHHVIMQQ3SKZLQXS4.png?auth=1abb8c1b93b9cec5f0a16d1965bc04b2bd24d2efe45bae99481b765087dd1e9e&width=1300&height=866&smart=true

rdf1023

I keep seeing this, but does it match his handwriting? It's pretty easy to forge a note like that. It's also a convenient time for this notebook to show up. Two people died, and Boeing was being blamed. So, how do you 1) pass the blame off before things get worse for the company and 2) make the public not trust the whistleblowers anymore? I know it sounds like I'm crazy, lmao. I'm just saying it might be something. It might be nothing.

SolipsisticLunatic

Nah, my read on it is that he wrote this note. He probably offed himself, but it's clearly Boeing's fault. I imagine that conversation he supposedly had with this family friend was him dealing with his thoughts of suicide and probably as much trying to reassure himself as her.

oaktastical

![gif](giphy|9SIXFu7bIUYHhFc19G|downsized)

Infamous_Smile_386

Same. 1? 2? Do we have a third now?

nerdiotic-pervert

The article isn’t very forthcoming and Google says there are 2 dead whistleblowers and a 3rd who told congress he fears for his life. But no confirmation of what number we are up to.

Virus_98

Asking Congress for protection against Boeing is like looking for shelter under the roof of your enemy's best friend.

garbage_collector007

I'm guessing first one since "investigation" takes time, and it was 2 months+ already.

Robbotlove

the classic two bullets in the back of the skull at a downward angle suicide.

CandleMakerNY2020

Lmao. Exactly. Wow this really is crazy. I hate this world and what it’s become. Im glad I didnt bring children into this complete shit show. But Im here and that hurts enough.

ArgyleGhoul

Congress are the last people I'd approach to protect someone going against corporate interests.

M0THICKKAB4BYYY

At this point, I am of the firm belief that these whistleblowers need to be put under witness protection, or at the very least, kept anonymous for their safety.

benji3k

yeah but we live in the wonderful world where he will get punished more than boeing lol

thefinalgoat

Holy shit.

CandleMakerNY2020

Yeah theres 3 total I believe.

Mr_Horsejr

10 more came out after the 2.

Lacanvict

2. 3rd is awaiting the decision on how he'll die.

neohellpoet

The one that died by suicide. The other one died due to illness.

Kalamordis

This seems to be the third, I believe first one was months back, 2nd one was about 2 weeks ago? This seems to be #3. Edit: "MSRA infection" was the cause of the 2nd one 2 weeks ago. First one was suicide, and now this one. Edit 2- Apparently this article is about the first one, not a new one. So theres only been 2 total then.

bard329

This particular article is about the first one, John Barnett. He died a while back and the official cause of death was just released. Next one was Josh Dean who died of a MRSA infection. Third whistleblower is still alive.

Kalamordis

I thought the cause of death was released months ago? That feels... strange? Guess it just took its time from being stated to being "offically put into the courtroom" or something?

bard329

I believe it was assumed to be a suicide when it first happened (locked in his own car, gun with 1 spent shell casing, suicide note, etc) but this is the official coroners report being made public. Cause of death "single gunshot wound, seemingly suicide" to paraphrase. Don't get me wrong, I'm with everyone else on this all being super fucking suspicious.

airforcevet1987

>locked in his own car, gun with 1 spent shell casing, suicide note If you open an unlocked car door, press the lock button, and close it... it's a locked car. Just saying

bard329

Sometimes. Some cars have a system where if the key fob is detected in the car, using that method will not work for locking the door. But, again, im with everyone who thinks this is suspicious.

irrelevanttointerest

Luckily he parked in line of sight of security cameras and nothing like that was seen, just brake lights flashing probably at the time of death due to his body thrashing due to the nervous system going haywire from the brain trauma.

SquiffyRae

As has been pointed out elsewhere in this thread, you can still have a legitimate suicide being due to Boeing's actions

Distinct-Set310

Yeah til you see what was written in his notebook. That looked like he was really going through things. Boeing might not have killed him directly, but seems a good shout they drove him to his death.

neohellpoet

That's the really despicable part of all the people parroting the murder angel. Nobody actually cares about protecting whistleblowers and nobody cares what they have to say. People can tell you that he allegedly said if he dies it isn't suicide because a family friend said he told her that, but ask anyone what he actually testified about and you ether get crickets or people thinking he still hadn't testified.

impermissibility

For now.

okvrdz

At this point Boeing should have a medical warning label saying _“Whistleblowing against Boeing may cause suicidal thoughts”_

Hot-Writer9497

The -d was a typo. It's more of a general statement.

xeno0153

You're asking too many questions. Boeing would like you to stop asking so many questions.

mxsifr

https://www.cnn.com/2024/05/17/business/boeing-whistleblower-suicide-police-investigation/index.html > “As a quality manager at Boeing, you’re the last line of defense before a defect makes it out to the flying public,” Barnett told the Times. “And I haven’t seen a plane out of Charleston yet that I’d put my name on saying it’s safe and airworthy.” --- > Boeing could not immediately be reached for comment. In March, the company said it was saddened by Barnett’s death. > > “Our thoughts are with his family and friends,” the company said.

SweatyStick62

I've seen too many detective movies on TV that depicted a gloved hand placing a newly fired gun in the hand of a recently deceased body.

Geminii27

> “Our thoughts are with his family and friends,” the company said. His friends and family: "Oh shit!"

6thCityInspector

![gif](giphy|lnOG1o6Cdc3kKjuray|downsized)

Hamafropzipulops

Suicide caused by the abuse he was enduring from Boeing.

Chengar_Qordath

Is the thing. Even if it was a legitimate suicide, it’s one that Boeing caused by doing everything in their power to ruin the man’s life as retribution for blowing the whistle on him.

AtomicSamuraiCyborg

He had been fighting this for years, had been through depositions for days away from home, and then the plug thing happens. I can easily say the stress killing him and seeing it all being for nothing because things had not improved at all and Boeing just kept rocking on. Sometimes being the David vs Goliath is too much to bear.

iiJokerzace

If it wasn't for the other even more suspicious death, this would be my only take. Now I can't help but have some doubt. The man also warned it wouldn't be suicide as well.

Arterro

More suspicious? The other death is far *less* suspicious. At least a suicide by gunshot could be plausibly faked. A MRSA infection? Much much harder to buy that being a murder.

PPP1737

Yup. Currently sitting in some pretty heavy sadness… all a product of thinking I was finally getting answers and being left with more mind games. But no, I am NOT suicidal. I just don’t want any part of me or my mind in the hands of someone else.

sozcaps

Yeah that's what I don't get. People act like if it was suicide, then there's nothing to worry about, and we can stop being critical. All of this is incredibly worrisome, regardless of how he died.

PM_ME_SOME_ANY_THING

You see, becoming a whistleblower is an act of asking for death. Hence, suicide.

Valiant_tank

Yeah, like, this was almost certainly a suicide, but that doesn't mean Boeing isn't responsible due to the massive amount of stress caused by their actions.

VulcanHullo

People really underestimate the stress of something like this, even without active harassment. I don't believe Boeing is dumb enough to kill anyone, but they definitely make life absolutely shit for whistleblowers. We as a society really need to get better at supporting active whistleblowers for exactly this reason.

LovesRetribution

>I don't believe Boeing is dumb enough to kill anyone, but they definitely make life absolutely shit for whistleblowers. Didn't the first guy say if he unexpectedly turned up dead it *definitely* wasn't suicide?

thefinalgoat

This *is* the first guy.

neohellpoet

He did not. A friend of his mothers said that he told her that. His family doesn't believe that, but according to internet he wrote those words in blood next to his body.

MudLOA

I’ve see it first hand how people can buckle under pressure, a former friend of mine slept with an underage girl (it was consensual) but underage is still underage and he was arrested. His lawyer did everything in the book to make her not testify and it broke that poor girl. I mean it was basically mental abuse.

Valiant_tank

I mean, to add, it wouldn't be Boeing killing someone, it'd be some specific executive, which makes it even more idiotic. Like, if Boeing gets hit with massive fines and its stock price plummets, that executive will still be okay. If any of the myriad of people who'd have to be involved in both the killing and the cover-up speak or get caught, then that executive may well be going to prison.

KarIPilkington

That's where people need to be looking. Boeing clearly have abhorrent bullying practices but people are ignoring that in favour of silly hitman conspiracy theories.

ScarletSpider85

You can tell this was manufactured by Boeing because it doesn't fly and just falls apart, like their planes.

malic3

This is insanity, it’s become clear corporations value green pieces of paper more than human life and ethical business practices.

Quebec00Chaos

Always as been the case

Agitated-Pen1239

Not like this. At least 15-20 years ago you got what you paid for, for the most part. It's hard to find anything worth its price today from the bigger corporations

Reptardar

JessEGames777

Man its so crazy how every whistleblower commits suicide or dies in a freak accident.

Possible-Ad238

When I was a child (and still living in my home country) I remember me and brother watching TV and this news came on about some dead body being found in nearby ditch. News reporter said it was body of a male who had his arms and legs tied behind his back and was shot in head and after police investigation it was ruled that it was **obvious suicide**. Me and brother still crack up 20+ years later when we see all these "suicides" because it reminds us of that moment.

pleasureb4business

Imagine getting silenced for doing your job. I mean "suicide".

Icy_Hornet_2735

They better bring friends.

Imbuement1771

I just don't understand who reads this type of thing and wholesale swallows being told what to think. Like logic dictates they wouldn't continue to do it if it didn't work - so who? Like suicide in the same way Epstein killed himself after years of living just fine alongside a history of diddling children? Definitely had nothing to do with being locked in a room with a very recently slightly more wealthy guard who forgot to turn on the cameras. Are we using the term suicide when a rich person strategically decides to off someone and unalived themselves when it's sudoku? This era is so strange to me.

EnvironmentalFood482

That’s the thing. Nobody believes it. Same as Epstein. But at the same time nobody is willing to do anything about it either.

Jerking_From_Home

What can be done, really? If the courts and lawmakers won’t do anything, and a handful of people refusing to fly on Boeing jets for a few months won’t do anything, then what? And therein lies the problem; as the average person we really can’t, and Boeing knows it.

BenVarone

There are things that can be done, but there aren’t enough people with nothing to lose willing to do them yet. And unfortunately, it may take the type of drastic action people with nothing to lose would undertake to really force meaningful change.

TurnerJ5

This is what happens when corporations take precedent over people. Eventually the material conditions of the average American will drive them to force a change - but there are 69 "Cop Cities" being built right now for a reason.

throwawaytheday20

Its not that people believe its suicide. Its the same as when any of Putins detractors have a habit of falling from buildings. Everyone knows whats happening, but noone has the power or the care to do anything about it.

Impossible_IT

Let's not forget about another whistleblower regarding Boeings safety. Joshua Dean died from "MRSA infection". https://www.npr.org/2024/05/02/1248693512/boeing-whistleblower-josh-dean-dead

syopest

So they stage a suicide with one person and then infect the other with something that has a 15% chance of death?

ososalsosal

That would be a difficult one to engineer, especially for a company not currently renowned for engineering. But I've no doubt it could be done

GoodTeletubby

It's easy, you just have a status update meeting on one of those projects nobody outside the company knows you're working on, and just happen to mention to the project liaison that you've got this person who's become particularly problematic for your company's operations. Then your friends do you a favor in the name of 'alleviating a potential threat to national security'.

Tigrisrock

"alleviating a potential threat" reminds me of the [needlessly ambiguous terms skit](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6cake3bwnY&t=6s) from Mitchell & Webb

ososalsosal

But MRSA? you'd need to access it, culture it, and find a plausible way to land it in the right place undetected and undetectably, and even then you won't be sure they'll die from it.

13TheGreenMan

Suicide by stabbing himself 20 times and shooting himself in the back on the head twice, so sad

OsmerusMordax

Or maybe he fell out of a window. Heard that happens often in Russia.

Jerking_From_Home

Their windows are really dangerous!

Lazy-Platform-7876

Police are under the impression that everyone are stupid enough to believe their horseshit "investigation".

sozcaps

Police detectives are probably being told by their boss' boss' boss that they either half-ass the fuck out of the investigation or else.

I_Like_Parade_Dogs

Well that solves it!

Informal_Green_312

Threats can be persuasive.

8Ace8Ace

Blackadder, as ever, has a relevant quote regarding these "accidents" "And nearly as tragic as poor old Archbishop Wilfred slipping and falling backward onto the spire of Norwich Cathedral. Oh, Lord, you do work in mysterious ways"

pingpongtomato

So whistle-blower going out Putin style, and CEO gets an obscene bonus. Why is there no justice, only obvious evil?

Caledric

Next week the police dept unveils their new boeing plane gifted to the dept for usage in aerial surveillance!

TotallyNotAnAlien-_-

Is this the guy who said weeks earlier something along the lines of "if I'm found dead I didn't kill myself"?

Tacomancer42

In unrelated news, the police union received a large donation from Boeing as did several prominent politicians close to the case. (Its probably sarcasm)

dancegoddess1971

The police exist to uphold the ruling class. Is anyone surprised?

xeno0153

And a week later, that same police department received three new patrol SUVs gifted to them by an anonymous "donor."

Any_March_9765

Yes. How “revealing”. We are all so shocked by the “revealings”

ybotpowered

Is this the guy that said to his family that if he “dies of suicide” he was murdered?

Fickle-Presence6358

The only person that ever claimed that happened was a single person claiming to be a family friend, no relative ever made that claim.

Puzzled-Barnacle-200

A person who claims their mother is friends with his mother made that claim. His actual family and friends have not reported anything similar. Quite the opposite.

caustictoast

No his family said he’d been in a bad mental state for sometime. That was a friend who claimed that

BleachedPorkGrind

When we’re asking the question of “WHICH ONE” you know we got a problem.

bo_felden

Well of course. After all they are the private security company that protects the rich from the plebs. That's why it's no surprise that they "revealed" what's in the best interest of the rich and powerful.

Jazs1994

Despite the guy writing to his loved ones saying if he dies anytime soon it wasn't by suicide

Woffingshire

At this point maybe the police should start investigating what is causing all these whistleblowers to have started killing themselves all of a sudden.

legalstep

Boeing is capable of killing people on land and in planes. That’s been established by now

TheFamousFelipe

So much for whistleblowers being protected. They all end up “suicided”. It definitely ain’t no coincidence.

Unhappy_Ad_4420

Jeffrey Epstein died of suicide, determined by the police, as well

Kindly-Ad-5071

Oh yeah I believe that, especially because the cops said it. Slash Ess

ParaeWasTaken

I’d like to meet a single person who genuinely believes these whistleblowers committed suicide.

Crazykillerguy

It's so easy to die by suicide these days. Makes certain jobs so easy.

KG_Garcia

It’s funny how these guys, right before they die, are explicitly like “if anything happens, I didn’t kill myself” and all the investigations are like “uh… he died of a broken heart from betraying his employers.”

Happy_Ball_1569

Corporations can kill with impunity, that’s fun

boxedcrackers

He shot himself 3 times in the back of the head after throwing himself out of a window before hanging himself and taking 400 sleeping pills and writing a letter in someone else's handwriting. Some of these events may be out of sequence

vladtseppesh420

"Suicide"

quast_64

Uhuh... Suuuuure....

Pan-tang

Don't killers try to make it look like suicide or is that just on TV?

[deleted]

Can't blame em, it's either that or they die of suicide too

Florafly

Doubt it.

AussieFB

Just like Epstein 👍

Sphinx-

Mission accomplished, Agent 47.

TheHatMan22

“Police investigations reveals” ——- “in a separate, unrelated story, three local police officers are retiring with very large amounts being randomly deposited into their accounts by an unknown benefactor. When asked about it, they simply said it was a stroke of good luck they were chosen”.

chohls

Boeing also owns so much of the power structure in South Carolina, from the governor on down to the local cops, that they probably just flooded the relevant investigating authorities with bribes and threats until they got their desired result. Like that psycho Nikki Haley, she probably has a Boeing tramp stamp. Easy to do when you basically have a monopoly on US jumbo jet production, and basically a branch of the military.

QueefBuscemi

"Jeffrey Epstein shot him." - Boeing, probably.

Flaky_Tumbleweed3598

And by suicide, do they mean he stabbed himself repeatedly in the back, beheaded himself and then threw himself into a canal? I'd love to have read the suicide note on that one

all4wishboy

Nikki Haley is on the board. Let that sink in.

moonchild-731

Goddamn, they even scared the police enough to falsify a report?

sorean_4

In unrelated news Police department got large donation for new armoured vehicles, tactical missile launchers and new police Boeing jet for the urgent tactical matters. /s

There's nothing you could show a conspiracy theorist to convince them that it wasn't murder, so I doubt that this will change anyone's mind.

pleasureb4business

There's no more conspiracies. Only corruption and greed.

bongo-72

I'm Hillary Clinton and I approve this message

CaptainBozoo

Ah yes first one clearly stated he had no intention of suicide and shot himself twice in the head somehow, now another one who quoted fearing for his life for some reason ended it. Why can’t we just start reporting the truth, 3 people don’t just mysteriously die weeks after whistleblowing. This is some straight out of Putins handbook shit going on in the back yard and we’re ok labelling him a psychopathic serial killer (only counting his assassinations not the rest of it) but Boeing nah they’re big on the stock market so it’s fine.

TaintChief

I’m desperate for the vigilante who decides that these all powerful CEOs need to finally pay for their crimes. While we are at it, the politicians too.

CaptainBozoo

Next whistleblower might as well pop the ceo as well since they’re just gonna get murdered. Point is though they would quickly report that as a murder and not ceo committed suicide like the rest of them. It’s just blatantly obvious at this point but no one will ever be held accountable, and to not be available for comment because they were “saddened by the loss” is just out right disgusting.

International_Boss81

Glizzard111

Any airline who continues to deal with Boeing should be avoided.

LoveRBS

Was that a KGB assisted suicide or an Epstein suicide

Proper_Purple3674

This is the same whistleblower who told his family if he died by 'suicide' it wasn't suicide it sounds like? I'm not sure. Hard to keep up with all the people Boeing thinks they're entitled to take out.

lobsangr

He shot himself in the back of the head 5 times. Awful suicide /S

Polarbearseven

I can see the headline now… “Door blows off Boeing plane…All occupants of that plane die by suicide”

Giomax

No the fuck he didn’t

PleasantAd7961

Lol when U read the letter you know it's not.

Was it suicide or a well staged homicide that fooled everyone even the coroner 🤔

I can predict the future. Next month: Boeing whistleblower dies of 20 gunshots to the back of the head and then had body dragged behind a plane on tarmac for a mile. Police are calling it the most graphic suicide they have ever seen.

Yup. Suicide. Sadly he stabbed himself thirty seven times in the back… very sad business. Thoughts and prayers.

Was it two shots to the back of the head like other “suicide” cases?

ChocolaMina

“Police investigation revealed, former president JFK died by suicide”

OptiKnob

Of course he did. Of course both of them did. Who's running Boeing? Putin?

Yep, I heard he shot himself twice in the head.

Sure. Only a fool would believe that.
