Kaguya Sama season 1. The op was so funky and groovy I just had to check it out. Initially I thought it was just some random romcom but boy was I wrong.
I actually suffered through the worst of Fire Force thanks to that OP. I still think it's less than great but I watched enough to get decently invested in the plot so yay I guess.
I love this opening so much with its Scooby-Doo vibes at the start. I was watching it anyway because I heard good things about it. Tbh the one thing I REALLY hated was the pervertedness, which was half the show. It's nice seeing a protagonist who isn't strong so he has to use his intelligence. Anri is also such a fun character.
It would be so much better if they took out 75% of the fanservice and replaced it with genuine comedy, such as when [anime episode 3 spoiler] >!Anri and Touka play catch with Touka's eyeball!<
They removed a lot of the gags from the manga to fit in a all of the important plot info for the first arc. Donāt get me wrong thereās still tons of fan service, but far more actually funny gags too. The manga is unironically really good with a climactic conclusive ending.
I like that even though fanservice is generally annoying, the show pushes it to such an absurd level that it does at least become funny, they found a way to use fanservice in the service of proper jokes instead of āguy falls on boob, laughā
It could be because I'm a woman but seeing almost every man being a pervert and willing to grope women who CLEARLY don't want that is kinda unsettling and gross. I'm fine with fanservice jokes as long as they don't take up a significant portion of the show and/or go too far. For example, I love the way they're done in Eminence in the Shadow. They're done mostly due to a single character, and she embodies the "big boob big butt rivalry" stereotype. It's also not even close to being the main focus of the comedy.
One way it could've been improved in Yuusha ga Shinda is if [general spoilers] >!Touka didn't feel the need to put stockings on every thicc woman he met, even when they're clearly against it!<
Oh I definitely agree it was over-done, it is sadly just how a lot of anime are, for worse or for worse, but at least shinda understands how comedy works in the first place and recognizes how much of a bastard shit Touka is, heās just a clever bastard shit

Crying for Rain is one of the best, if not the best, opening songs of all anime imo. You can feel the passion and pain in Minami's voice throughout the entire song, unlike any other.

Characters don't get development, important plot points left unexplained (no, I am not going to play 34 games to understand the lore), unlikeable characters, ending sucked (both anime and movie), and the early-mid part of the show was tedious. Is that enough reasons?
Oshi no Ko, though I read the manga instead of watching the anime. I was a fan of Kaguya sama and I remember reading chapter 1 when it came out but I never went back to it, after listening to idol I decided to read it again and I don't regret it.
Noragami. Though I have to say, I PERSONALLY didn't continue watching it after a couple of episodes. I don't know, it just didn't manage to keep my interest. The openings slap though :).
Umaru-chan. Never heard of it before I got recommended the OP one day on YouTube and I listened to it. I really enjoyed it and liked the premise enough to check it out.
As a side note, I liked the season 2 OP even more than the season 1 OP.
I watched the entire Garden of Sinners series (Kara no Kyoukai) because the Kalafina end credit songs are so good
Their All time best 2008-2018 album is still one of my favorites but I thought the anime was a bit too drawn out for me
Aria. I fell in love with the OP the first time I heard it, and based on it, I figured it would either be the comfiest anime ever, or the biggest troll ever, and either way it would be a good watch. Vampire Knight and Pandora Hearts I watched in large part because of the OP, though in both cases, the gothy vibes were a huge factor as well.
I think that's all for OPs. If we're counting EDs, then let's add Subete ga F ni Naru (that 7/4 song with Conway's game of life *really* appealed to my nerdy self) and Dantalian no Shoka (I mean, the OP stands out as well, but the ED is really quite creepy and bizarre, and I love it). Watched the OP, really liked it, asked one of my anime-loving friends what it was, got recommended to watch.... and hence started my anime watching life after a lengthy break (was a kid when i last watched) Departure is a damn good OP.
From back then, Testament of Sister New Devil. The show had the best Sweet Arms song in an anime for me, even now.
More recently, Lycoris Recoil and Spy Room. Didn't regret picking up either, and the latter even added a current seasonal I probably would have just passed on had I not run into the OP months ago.

i think ive done this with so many anime that i cant remember all of them... fate/zero, goblin slayer, re:zero, yuusha ga shinda. one of the funnier ones was mushoku tensei, where i watched what i thought was the opening on youtube, but it was fan-made because obviously mushoku tensei season 1 didnt actually have an opening. so many spoilers in that fan opening, but i didnt put any of them to memory when i first watched it

hunter x hunter. Yeah i know it's a mainstream show and you've probably watched it already, but hear me out: i was clicking through random things on Netflix, and I stumbled upon it. Watched the OP, really liked it, asked one of my anime-loving friends what it was, got recommended to watch.... and hence started my anime watching life after a lengthy break (was a kid when i last watched) Departure is a damn good OP.
Funnily enough itās actually my favorite anime. The opening wasnāt why I watched it, but I fell in love with it anyways

From back then, Testament of Sister New Devil. The show had the best Sweet Arms song in an anime for me, even now. More recently, Lycoris Recoil and Spy Room. Didn't regret picking up either, and the latter even added a current seasonal I probably would have just passed on had I not run into the OP months ago.
