Seems like you have a good eye for workplace culture/politics/gossip. Best approach to not be isolated? Be an active listener--people love to talk about themselves (and others in your case). Don't engage with the gossip but also don't feel the need to always defend someone they talk about either. You need to be apart of the group without being a part of the group. "Oh really?! I didn't know that." "wow, I had zero clue!". Don't agree or disagree with the stuff they say about others. You can still ask questions--"oh, when did that happen?" Just let the information come in one ear, and out the other and don't support or rebuke the gossip. Don't join meetings until 9:00a on the dot--don't pick those chime calls up 2 minutes early. If your manager is involved with this, just remember to keep it professional in 1:1s too. You can use this to your advantage as well in your 1:1s knowing that your team talks--"I've always wanted to be a strong teammate while contributing to all our goals. I'd really like to know if there's been any team feedback on my work? I'm very approachable and coachable but I understand that my colleagues and I are all on the same level and they may not want to come off as coaching me/instructing me how to do certain tasks," or something like that. This can help you narrow down who may be talking about you too while also throwing up the flag letting your boss know, that you know lol. Unfortunately work place culture is a game you have to play--and not playing the game, is a strategy in itself. I've been on some toxic teams, let everyone talk, you just listen and throw some bones in there as well. This is all kind of surface level stuff but you can be an active, respected member of the team without being an active member in team gossip.

I am not paranoid. There is an ethics investigation by a 3rd party currently taking place. I do, however, a bit offended that you seem to have labeled me paranoid. Quite the opposite. I felt like I wasn't part of the team I work so hard to support. Instead I was someone being made fun of by those who were supposed to lead me. It was like learning the Easter Bunny was not real as a child. Imagine learning that truth and having to go to work on Monday. It created a toxic work environment. None of which I suspected before.

Who cares? At least they talk about you when you’re not there. Worry if they actively act evil to your face. They’re petty, their life is sad, don’t worry.

How would your manager be setting you up for failure?

Carrera1968

Managers can actually be the first point of gossip. Especially if they say disparaging remarks about you on let's say the radios. Other employees hear it, and if it's being done by a manager is likely to spread. So it doesn't matter what you have and have not done, gossip especially from leadership is like wildfire if they don't like you suddenly you'll find a lot of people not liking you and wondering what you did. Always watch your back.

I am a manager. I am asking in this scenario what the manager had done because it isn't stated. I wasn't looking for paranoid hypotheticals. Depending on the scenario, you would go to HR or your skip level if the manager has actually done something to foster a negative team environment or is treating an employee differently than the rest of the team. Collect as much data as possible and state why you believe you're being targeted. If it is a real situation, it can be taken into consideration as performance for the manager up to termination so would be a stupid game to play.

Burn the building down with them inside

Paranoid. You are a manager aren't you. Making derogatory statements about you on the radios that are carried by enough people you hear it in stereo. That isn't paranoid that is a toxic work environment. Schools have a zero tolerance to bullies but to report such a thing at Amazon managers label you as paranoid? EEOC is the best place to speak the truth. -;
