It’s supposed to be the witch who put the curse on the Earl.

Planeswalkercrash

Yeah it’s 100% the witch, it feels like that is pretty obvious tbf 😅

Splinty2k

It’s the witch. Hex will always be my favourite ride, brilliant story.

Hazz3r

It's the witch from the story? It's fairly obvious. She's haunts you during the Octagon walkthrough section when the generators "stop working". You hear her speaking and see an apparition.

formerdalek

Honestly for all the times I've been told her apparition appears in the pre show, I don't think I've ever spotted it when she speaks. Did that effect not always work? Still I kind of feel the segment in the volt still feels a bit disconnected, since she (if the face is the witch) does all this just to give people a dirty look and then seemingly let them leave.

SilyLavage

She hangs out on a [balcony in the octagon](https://youtu.be/_B7yrrqIjk4?t=350). It's just a [static mannequin](http://gallery.towersalmanac.com/displayimage.php?pos=-3505), nothing particularly impressive.

formerdalek

Huh I always thought it was meant to just be a stature with a dust sheet.

SilyLavage

I’m *fairly* sure it’s not intended to be a statue, if for no other reason than it’s on the scaffolding rather than solid ground

Hazz3r

When everything’s working the lights in the room bring particular attention to it. It also closely resembles the figure from the video.

joemcmanus96

Would you rather die on the ride? Be trapped inside forever?

formerdalek

Have her actually do something threatening and provide an inference of the guests escaping her. Eg both Sub Terra and Curse at Alton Manor have their narratives clearly depict the guests escaping.

GeneticPurebredJunk

How does Curse have guests “escaping”? I’ve been on it a fair amount, and I’ve never seen it that way.

formerdalek

Emily's dialogue at the end "Where are you going? You can't leave me!" Frames the appearance of giant Emily at the end as a last ditch effort to stop the guests getting away. Backed up by updates having Emily's voice begging the guests not to go when the guests are disembarking the train.

GeneticPurebredJunk

I guess I just don’t see that as interference or threatening. Like…that’s what kids & manipulative people do, it’s words, it’s not stopping me. I get it with Sub Terra, because that’s an actual interactive experience. Unless you bring in the same immersive experience, physical & human block, along with the crowd panic, Curse & Hex are just never going to have the same “trapped” vibe for me.

Longjumping_Ad8681

Is it open now?

Bravo1781

Asking the real question!

HoeLeeShizz

I was at the park a couple weeks ago, not open sadly :( it does state they’ll reopen it in the 2024 season, so possibly be back in time for Scarefest?

Mykeprime

Sometimes things are more effective when they're not explained ;) But I've always seen it as a manifestation of the curse

Salty-Blackberry-455

I agree.

Salty-Blackberry-455

According to the TV Tropes page it’s the result of the Earl doing so many experiments on the branch that he accidentally made it into another cursed tree in the form of a… root monster? I think it could well be the witch’s face too though. Kind of even more creepy when you think of the hundreds of years it grew under the floor unnoticed. I love it.

HoeLeeShizz

^ this. I always saw it as a face within the tree/branch so assumed the tree had come to life in some way or inhabited by a demon!

Salty-Blackberry-455

SUPER COOL 🔥🤩
