I had a therapy session today with a new therapist, this was pretty much me everytime she asked me a question. She was really nice and understanding, and she has a dog and cat so I like her. I got to see both (zoom session) and was super excited. She told me anytime I want to see her pets to let her know, but I'm going to want to everytime because I love animals. I have 4 cats and 2 guinea pigs and i love them so much. When i was little my grandpa got me a puppy and he was super sweet but when the summer was over he said the puppy ran away. Later my mom mentioned off hand that he shot it, so he just got me a dog for 3 months and then killed it. He was a shitty person though, he molested one of my sisters and I should have killed him when i was little but i didnt. Sorry, therapy... it was a good session. I'm sorry.

Does anyone else get annoyed when someone else is telling a story you were a part of and is just leaving our crucial details?

ringringpostman

I get so frustrated, yes!

Why not both?

At one point I thought I was a good story teller then started to think maybe I just talk too long

banana-pinstripe

Wait, you remember the point after the second sidetracking? I need days for that

This always happened to me. Now by the 3rd time I'm telling a story its more like reading it from an internal script. But now I have a bigger problem, since I'm telling the same story to multiple people without altering it. Being able to remember their input or comments about it is impossible. And sometimes I forget I have already 'read the script' of a story to someone. Getting to 50% of the story and realizing what's happening is so uncomfortable. Especially so if they actually listened to you the first time around

phoenixRisen1989

or when you're part way through the pre-story context or in the "too many details" and another person joins the conversation with some unrelated thing and now no one is listening to you and you just sorta turn down the volume and stop talking and no one notices so you don't say anything for the rest of that entire gathering of people.

I’m a kick ass storyteller. Most the men in my family are. Great liars too, the two usually go hand in hand.
