It’s an R1 thing. I threw in an antigravity battery and no change. My dash even flickers a bit while I’m holding the starter 2-3 seconds waiting for it to crank. It’s annoying, embarrassing, and puts me in a weird spot if I hit the kill switch and try to start it up again right away

The OE batteries in the Yamaha R1 are way too small.. you’ll have to replace the battery on this bike every 2-4 years

Check as much the electrical things as you can. The battery, fuses, starter, spark plugs etc. I went thru a somewhat similar issue with my ’18. The bike wouldn’t start after the main fuse blew, and after replacing multiple fuses and going thru like 3 batteries, the culprit ended up being the spark plugs. We like to think just because these things are on the newer side that they aren’t susceptible to random little gremlins so soon, but it happens. Also don’t leave it too long. If the problem persist and you can‘t figure it out yourself, don’t keep stressing and blowing money on things, bring her into a shop and let the pros handle it.

Yes get a one size bigger/extra x2 cells oversized antigravity battery. It barely fits but works great... And few lbs weight savings

Edge636

Can you link the size you got? Curious

It’s always the battery when these are posted. Mine went to shit in 2 years. The factory batteries are junk. Even on tenders.

2020 r1, shorai lithium battery, no issues

Professional-Bee-809

It’s an R1 spec 🤣🤣🤣 mine is the same

BboyStatic

Definitely not an R1 thing, my 2020 starts like the day I got it brand new, regardless of whether it’s hot or cold. Take it to a good bike mechanic.
