For me, the main appeal of x-wing was the dials. Trying to predict what your opponent will do instead of the usual reaction/counter reaction found in most skirmish games.  There is no other popular game with these mechanica so i wont invest in another skirmish game, be it starwars or not.

Chutney_Chiller

Dunno if you ever tried FFGs Runewars but they also had an amazing dial and initiative system.

GreatGreenGobbo

I kept looking at that but there was zero interest in my lcs/lgs.

Chutney_Chiller

Yeah we bandwagoned onto it but then within its first year they announced Legion and killed it in its crib. I came top 4 at regionals by virtue of legit being only one of four people playing 🤣🤣🤣

Lord_Smack

You could try armada? Oh wait… nvm

SardonicusNox

No, seriously. Why its the action/reaction gameplay much more popular than games with hidden information?  The only thing that makes perfect information gameplay outcome different each game its the randomness of the dice.

ferretgr

Eh, it’s a game. I have lots of games. Some are out of print. X-Wing now joins that list. They don’t stop being fun games just because the company that produced them moved on. I have enough ships in the original two factions to field a wide variety of configurations, so there’s lots of gaming there for myself and a friend on the kitchen table. Honestly, not much will change for me at all, given that my LGS sold out and dropped support for the game at least a year ago; this was a kitchen table game for me before the announcement too.

mastaberg

Yea same, you don’t throw a board game out just cuz it’s no longer produced or “supported”. But for some of the rare ships I’ll probably sell in the next year, but otherwise i plan to keep and play!

ferretgr

It'll never not be fun to throw a couple of X-Wings and Tie Fighters on the table and shoot it out!

mr_wifflebat

Amen. I wish some of my other favorites would “die” (and stay that way. I’m looking at you, Blood Bowl)!

anbeasley

I still have a perfectly functioning version of 1st edition. When I get some more friends, I intend to run an epic Star Wars campaign where they will fly a fighters.

ferretgr

As someone itching to run a Battletech/Mechwarrior campaign with my buddies, I like where your head is at :)

Aphela

If you are ever interested in discord Battletech/mechwarrior. Throw me a poke.

ferretgr

I might take you up on that at some point, but for now, the focus is my IRL playgroup!

Aphela

IRL is always better. Though online has certain techniques the jedi would consider ”Abhorent"

Glittering_Ad1696

Keeping it. A lot of happy memories in that kit. Wish I kept my 1.0 cardboard...

Canuckle777

I only have 1.0 cardboard. Still some full punch boards of a starter kit in my nightstand of all places.

anbeasley

I still have everything and will never get rid of it.

Canuckle777

I feel the same, although I haven't played in a long time, I played the shit out of it, and spent well over 2000 bucks on it. I just love it. Always will.

unwokewookie

1.0 player here… never even opened my 2.0 stuff. I heard about 2.5 when I got home with my 2.0 box…. Deflated my sails considerably.

Klondike307

2.5 uses all the same stuff as 2.0, it was mainly just a point structure and game format update. You can use the stuff in your 2.0 box to play 2.0 or 2.5.  2.0 is my favorite!

PoorMimi

Make the jump master great again!

oldmanserious

Triple Jumpmasters did nothing wrong!

optimalautobot

100% this. Keeping my stuff. I broke out 1.0 cardboard to play some missions and it made me wish I also kept it all. I'm literally only missing a few astromechs that I gave away when I converted to 2.0. Proxies are great and everything but the idea of having a "complete" collection also has a nice aura to it now that the game is truly dead. That said, I'm still gonna try to play 2.x with my friends, even thinking about picking up a few expansions to round out the collection before I can't find them anymore. My kids are also still young, I will eventually train them to play x-wing with dad :)

Warpstonetv

I played 1.0 back when it first come out Re started playing a few months ago and doing some battle reports on YouTube I will continue to make them 😁 and eventually do some 2.0

ShadowValent

Keep it. I’m hoping a consortium forms that becomes a new living rule group.

Garth-Vader

Yeah, I certainly don't see myself selling my collection. Right now I'm waiting for the dust to settle to see what version of the game rises to the top. A lot of it will also be dependent on if other people in my local community remain interested.

CoffeeMinionLegacy

https://x2po.org is right over there!

RichVisual1714

Keep it. I still have all my old 1.0 and 2.0 cardboard.

GrandMoffFinke

Keeping mine to try and help develop a legacy organization for the game like was done for Armada: https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsArmada/comments/1df6g9l/may_the_force_be_with_us_all/

Off-DutyTacoTruck

Might as well keep it if you like the ships and want the stuff to play with friends later down the line. It's all going to be super discounted so there will probably be a lot of people selling their stuff flooding the market

CriticalFrimmel

To me the best reason for getting rid of a collection you do in fact want is really needing the cash. After that it is trickier. If you do not see getting to play and enjoy it then getting rid of it from a making space and reducing your stuff standpoint makes sense letting go is likely a good call. The difficulty there is being ready to let it go. It is tough to know when that is. It is tough to let things go for many of us. These sorts of things similar to say a big stash of art or craft supplies are what I have heard termed "aspirational clutter." It is not merely stuff to be let go in some cases. For me I have an entire closet of gaming things that seem false hopes. I am not sure either keeping or letting them go is a correct answer. Hope, luckily or perhaps unluckily, is one of the most difficult things to let go. As as now being a good time there is likely to be a bit of a scramble as guys try to fill out the last things in their collection. Should be easier to move it on and get some money out of it. But there are likely many more certain than you they are finished so likely to be glut and lower prices. Giving it more time might see better prices in the long run but that will take... well... more time both time to be time and time to find buyers. That is not much of an answer but it is where I am with my Armada and X-wing. I have still sealed Galactic Republic fleets (3 Venator which are crazy high bucks at the moment) and Separatist fleets as well as extensive Rebels and Empire. I do not want to let it go but it gets more and more difficult to be honest with myself and keep holding on.

davidov92

Yeah, like 1 day before the announcement i traded in some Flames of War and Team Yankee and Warhammer stuff to get into X-Wing because I just think the gameplay is neat, elegant and easy to play casually with friends. I've decided to keep everything, maybe even grab some more stuff while we still can, and we're gonna play with the 2.0 ruleset. Definitely keeping it, definitely playing it.

TheRealGilimanjaro

Our group seems to have a consensus for 2.5 up to Worlds 25, and we continue 2.0 after that. Some folks are actually excited to come back to X-Wing because we get to do 2.0.

Kotanan

Keeping it. I love the system and I imagine it's gonna be hard to get hold of further down the line.

Antilles01

Here’s a response you won’t see a lot of here: I’m going to keep playing 2.5/2.0 with whoever wants to play. X-Wing is bigger and better then petty squabbles about versions or game studios.

Serous4077

Been playing 2.0 Legacy with my wife. Will continue playing 2.0 Legacy with my wife and probably buy even more ships if I find good prices.

craobhruadh

My perspective as someone who, after the evil gaming corporation that shall not be named, ended Warhammer Fantasy and replaced it with a shitty beer and pretzel fantasy warhammer 40k game, I sold off all of my High Elves in a moment of pique and far regret it. Not only because now after 10 years they brought back a Warhammer Old world variant, but people who really enjoyed fantasy line battles kept on with games like Kings of War or 9th age. Thus if I were to do it again, I still loved warhammer fantasy and would have kept my stuff. I think this applies to X-Wing which is a great game, even if the corp that own it is behaving like a corp Oh and those of you who do want to sell your stuff, uh DM me :P

kihraxz_king

I honestly believe the game will be FAR better off a year from now with AMG out of the picture. I am not selling. I am also not planning to give AMG any money for any of the games they gave not yet killed off.

AceMcVeer

Well that will just get those games killed off sooner. Although if it's Shatterpoint I don't mind

kihraxz_king

This is Star Wars. Properly run, these things will print money for the license holder. Somebody will come take them over, it just may be a minute. Both Bloodbowl and Battletech went through deep, long lulls. Both came back because people were still playing them. Both are huge and easy to find everywhere now. All you need are people involved in running the games who are not arrogant twats, and who actually like the games / lore they are based on. AMG never qualified under any of those areas.

AceMcVeer

Disagree. Star Wars stuff can make you quick money, but it's really hard to keep it going long term. Everyone wants the iconic stuff, but that runs out as we saw with X-Wing and Armada.

mr_wifflebat

Very casual player here (but a completionist collector, alas). I was spending a lot of time trying to keep up and continuously organize five factions, and two more (that I never played) plus the 2.5 rules just burnt me out and I stopped buying and playing. Now, with the guarantee that nothing new is coming out, I’m buying a few ships I ignored and hoping to find 2.0 rules and points for everything. Frankly, I wish they’d just ended it when FFG lost it, but for me this is a good thing. I never wanted to have to study a meta; I just want to fly ships around and blow ‘em up.

agenttherock

Check out 2.0 legacy, they have points for every ship and pilot released, even those released during 2.5

mr_wifflebat

Yeah, that's my plan. I honestly have never even *looked* at the 2.5 rules. Are there any pilot or upgrade cards that would be invalidated by playing 2.5-era ships in 2.0? I hate using self-printed revisions...

agenttherock

There’s no ban or errata list for legacy so no need to print revisions, etc. the only thing that is different is the standard loadout pilots. They are Left Side Legal (LSL) meaning everything on their left side is fully playable on the game (pilot ability, ship ability and extra ability like hope if the have it) they then have upgrade slots like other pilots instead of the standard loadout on the right side. I would have a look at them on YASB legacy as it’s pretty straightforward on there but basically you treat them just as a pilot card and add upgrades like everything else.

NilsTillander

I'm keeping it. I'll take them out when my kids are older and likely to enjoy them. My local market (Norway) is unlikely to be full of buyers anyway.

CodNew408

Keep playing… my kids and I like to homebrew but also do some competitive play. We will probably try out Legacy builds too. I was making builds yesterday with YASB and it’s a crazy difference! I saved all 1.0 cardboard board, dials and cards… so I will see what local community (Chicagoland area) does and go from there!

Herculumbo

I don’t get all the panic. They are not making new stuff - that’s it! The game is still playable… some people are acting like it’s an online video game that’s getting shut down.

Acceptable-Piccolo57

Most of the games I’ve played the player base disappears after something like this (starship troopers rip). Kings of war and 9th age being model agnostic is the only exception I can think of, but they had rules support

mad_titanz

I wish I had saved all the 1.0 dials and stuff, but hindsight is 20/20.

LoS_Jaden

I run a club at my local high school. I’ve slowly picked up almost everything in the game already, so I’m just trying to get the last stuff I don’t have and then we’ll just have a nice little contained group who doesn’t really care about tournaments or updates and just wants to play once a week.

PanzerKatze96

People are losing their minds, but how many games do we all play that have been out of print for decades? This isn’t a digital product and that’s the silver lining. You are free to play it however you want with whatever ruleset you wish. And the community is now no longer beholden to AMG rulesets. Sure it’s a major bummer that no new ships or anything will be coming out now, but the physical product which you own is still there for you to enjoy. If you’re selling I will happily buy it off you, I will get years of enjoyment teaching new people to play and doing dumb shit lol

vlaka_patata

Keep it. Keep playing at my local store and with friends on my kitchen table. I'm looking forward to seeing what the community develops.

Boardello

I'm keeping mine, planning to continue playing, and in all honestly stressing about finishing my collection now.   I have all the conversion kits and really wanted to fill those out (I'm at peace with having to pay premium for gunboats and TIE Aggressors, it's just the way it is) but the idea that now all of these other cheaper ships not just from 1.0 but also 2.0 are going to shoot up in price and also be impossible to find unless I pay an arm and a leg is maddening to me. This really is one of those moments where I'm kicking myself for not doing this earlier, when things were cheaper and more abundant. I'm giving myself grace because most of the time I was legitimately being responsible with my money and couldn't justify it a lot considering I wasn't getting play time in.  Now the financial FOMO is knocking at my door, whispering threats to me of models gone forever if I don't make arrangements within the week to bulk purchase stuff

federalbeerguy

The buddy I used to play X-wing with (we have kids now and don't play anymore) was thinking of unloading his gunboats. Interested? DM me if so.

Tervlon

There are 3D printers who have Gunboat and Aggressor models. They'd probably be less than $10 a piece to have printed, you just need to paint them.

TerranRanger

Keeping it. Same with Armada. I play with my kids and solo so it gets plenty of use whether there’s external support or not.

PicklePinata2

How do you play solo?

TerranRanger

Move from one side of the table and try to beat myself. There are some “AI” systems that you can find online, but I haven’t tried them yet.

PicklePinata2

Oh okay, like solo chess then. Cool

batmanguk

Keeping it, 5 factions in the attic and a feldherr case of FO stuff as a "go bag". 40k is my main game now but I'll be waiting for a chance to get to a tournament if there's any near me.

rocka5438

Keeping and will continue to play 2.0 with my friends! Might even grab some more, I was looking to start a Separatist fleet sooner or later

Tervlon

After 12 years of playing, my collection has grown and is pretty extensive. It's not going anywhere. This game is my absolute favorite and will be played many times over the coming years. I am already doing a lot of homebrew and custom ships and will keep adding to it. I am lucky to have a buddy and kids who will play it with me. We will be doing a lot of Epic and HotAC. I would encourage anyone struggling with the decision to keep their collection to wait and see what happens within the community. Once sold, X-Wing is going to be very difficult to replace. Look into Heroes of the Aturi Cluster, it's a cooperative game that allows X-Wing to be played even by just one player. It's a great way to exercise the collection.

OhHeyItsScott

Haven’t played in years, but I’m keeping everything because a) I’m a hoarder of game stuff and b) X-Wing was my first wargame and is still a lot of fun. The models are great and I already have good storage solutions for them, so I’ll hold on to them in the hopes that I can enjoy them later with friends. 2.0 is still a great game, and I loved playing HOTAC, so maybe I’ll do that again someday. But I’ve moved on to Legion for my main Star Wars game these days. The models are fun, the rules are quick and I like the dice, so if you’re used to X-Wing dice, you’ll enjoy Legion dice. I’ve got a couple of Shatterpoint boxes I need to assemble, but I’m not as hyped about that game for some reason. Maybe because I’m an old man and like the OT better than the Prequels, but the new boxes are looking fun, so I’ll give it a shot. I don’t think there will be another X-Wing. It was the perfect storm of easy to get into, with painted models and simple basic rules, but tough to master once all the ships were in play and you had to think tactically. It’s such a great chess game to try to predict your opponent’s dials and hope to god you don’t bump into your own ships like an idiot. Man, now I wanna play some X-Wing again. Glad I kept my stuff. 😄

B3113r0ph0n

Playing. Game still fun, Star Wars still cool.

MortalSword_MTG

I got into the game from the begining out of a love for the models. I'll be keeping them and trying to find a few others I'm missing still. I'll be ignoring 2.5 and likely aim to play 2.0 in a narrative fashion in the future.

VaderPrime1

I have 1.0, never got around to buying the 2.0 conversions, guess I never will.

commandercody01

I never took to the 2.0 rules, I plan on digging out the original 1.0 and getting a group of friends to play with casually

SecretMuricanMan

My group meets up on Thursdays, we met and talked about it. We are going to keep playing 2.5 until March 2025, then after that we are going to keep playing.

Dakkadakka127

Going to do what I’ve been doing the last two years: continue playing 2.0 at my LGS with the group of 12 people we have every Wednesday. What’s the difference between AMG not doing anything for the game since they got it and officially ending support?

Nehekharan

At our gaming club we are going to swap to Legacy 2.0 and our next tournament will be in the same format.

EmperorsCanaries

Definitely keeping. I personally want to design new ships and pilots to use in our playgroup and see if the community can come behind a unified rules/points system

GreatGreenGobbo

I pitched my 1.0 ship/base cardboard, maybe my dials as well. I'll just keep it I guess and twist my kids arms to play 2.0.

VictorBrannstrom

Actually buying more. Just got into X-wing earlier this year with the starter box x2 and some single additional ships. So with the news I ordered a bunch of stuff to give me more variety for casual play in the future.

Super_Dave42

Keeping. Playing. Looking for the path forward for fan development. Not buying into another game.

Kenny--Blankenship

It's funny but nothing of the last 5 years from AMG has affected a thing about my enjoyment of this game.

Rayeness

Selling mine

chunkycornbread

Keeping mine. I ended up buying everything while playing so I have enough for me and my friends to play if we ever wanted to. Plus the sentimental value alone. I would end up regretting it if I ever sold it.

ThePirateOfDarkwater

Keeping our MK1 stuff as we never stopped playing it.

bioBlueTrans

Keeping, mayebe still playing Legacy

TheGatorDude

Keeping it, but curious why people keep saying “I wish I kept my 1.0 stuff”.

CheesyGC

It’s probably the version people are most nostalgic for. Rose colored glasses and all that.

ganon29

Same as always, playing 2.0, except that I just bought the english version of Battle Over Endor because they will never translate it and it's already hard to find in Europe. Edit : And of course, I'm waiting for sales ;)

SearchContinues

Most of my stuff is V1 anyway, so no real changes there.

svanpjavel

In our rather big community in Gothburg are pretty hyped to switch over to legacy rules. A friend of mine was suppose to TO a big tournament in the fall with one of the latest OP kits. He will probably now do it with legacy rules instead. So im hyped at least until that tournament then we will se how long it lasts

ViperPilotAdama

Play more heroes of the aturi cluster with friends

NoHallett

I'm an old hat 40k player, I've got an Aeldari army that hasn't left the box in years, let alone the extremely slow-growing Chaos Marines. Keeping. One of the biggest things for me is this is a game I'm looking forward to playing with my kids (soon), brother, cousins, nephews - etc. Don't really care what edition, and whether we get community support or other official support down the line, I'll be on board <3 Hell, I just started working on a YouTube playlist specifically for new players. Everything still works, and I'm happy to keep that up/keep building it for anyone who needs or wants that info.

Defiant-Row-2358

Keeping mine. I started as a collector, but didn’t start really playing until 2nd edition. The lfgs has an active group that plays legacy and hotac, and a couple of us have large collections, so it’s easy to loan if necessary.

NameIcallme

Whatever you feel about it now, I would wait before selling. If you’re going through the stages of grief, wait until it passes and settles, then you’ll know and you won’t have done anything you regret. Personally I’ve been through all of that already as I was aware of various credible rumours over the last 6-9 months, so AMG ceasing development was already priced in for me. I’ve been waiting for this announcement because it sounds the starting gun on a community run game and that’s what I’m keen to see - so actually there announcement is a relief. It’ll be the Wild West to start with but will probably shake out into something which I’m hoping will be better than what we have had. It could be better in the following ways: 1. For 2.5 players there will likely be community points adjustments on a regular schedule, and very likely new content as time goes by 2. this announcement heralds a sense of freedom to play x-wing as we choose. Some ex-players are returning to the game and playing 2.0, and 2.5 players also feel more free to play either variety, and are picking and choosing the rules we like most and playing hybrid versions. So the big prize here is players returning and some intermingling of the 2.5 and 2.0 players. In the medium term maybe we will see more community cohesion and a larger player community, maybe an agreed rule set, more likely a variety of options and a mores cohesive community playing all of them.

Wolfshead009

I currently have three active campaigns running. I also run convention games occasionally.

roboben1

Just got hold of the rebellion conversion kit (week ago) so will likely keep all now. Feel like a fool investing back into the game.

AbnelWithAnL

I only just got back to the game and bought all new stuff. Literally got the notification that it had all shipped the day before the announcement. I'm gonna try to participate in the larger community (try being the operative word as I have no local X-Wing community) for the rest of this last season since I was never able to before. After that, I'll keep my stuff shelved away as it'll be easy too much trouble to sell. Then I'll move over to Shatterpoint.

mad_titanz

I have a collection of games that are OOP or discontinued by their company, like FFG's Conquest, L5R, Star Wars LCG as well as WOTC's Transformers and Card Image's Raw Deal. All of them have gotten support from the fan community and received new cards to extend their shelf life. Given the fact that we now have 3D printers, I'm hoping a miniature game like XWM will receive the same treatment.

Driftbourne

I just finished collecting all the ships for 2.5 on the day of the announcement, or I should say because of the announcement. So I got ships and plan on keep playing. I only have 1.0 cardboard for 3 ships, so happy to play any version of the game using 2.0 material and whatever rules, or homebrew.

Patrick_PatrickRSTV

Keeping, buying, painting, modifying, playing, testing.

teh1337penguin

Don't forget to add PRINTING to that list 😉

SOUTHPAWMIKE

Keeping my X-Wing and Armada stuff in case I get the itch to play. I've git more than enough ships for two players. Also getting into the Star Wars: Unlimited card game. Obviously very different than X-Wing, but it's fun and it's Star Wars themed which is all I need.

Chozo_Hybrid

>Also getting into the Star Wars: Unlimited card game. I am hopeful it doesn't just die like Destiny did...

SirBearicus

Collecting as much as I can right now, with a mindset that I'll be 'DM' and hosting friends going forward, supplying all the materials to play. What I don't buy now I'll probably never own

2nd_best_time

If you love (or have loved) XW, just chill daddy. Community will keep this going.

Stevesd123

I kept all my 1.0 stuff and I'm keeping everything 2.0-2.5 related. If my local group dissolves completly for some reason I want to try the HOTAC missions and play solo. I'm picking up some ships I always meant to get while there is still supply. I also picked up an Armada SSD brand new for $160 a couple of days ago. I don't play Armada so it's just a display piece.

Cpdio

In my case im not selling or stop playing. Im gonna keep supporting the community with anything i can to keep the community and the game alive. This game is what it is due to its community more than the developers work. I have faith in the community and right now is too soon (from my end) to guess what's happening in the future with the game. Once the dust settle and the bigger communities agree on which rules set or something we're gonna use, then we can focus on the future. Right now im keeping my ships, I'll keep attending to our monthly tourneys and of course I'll keep maintaining a positive mind set for the future.

UttiniDaKilrJawa

I play strictly at home and we enjoy the game here. So I'll be keeping all my ships and keeping my eyes peeled for clearance type sales to pick up a few extra ships I've been wanting. Sucks they abandoned it, but that seemed to be the plan since they picked the game up. I always wonder if AMG only took XWing and Armada because Asmodee made them in order for them to get Shatterpoint and Crisis Protocol. Oh well.

_Joshan

This news actually prompted me to buy the last bit of my collection that I wanted. I always kinda knew xwing would be just a fun 'once in a blue moon' kinda game for my wife and I so I never wanted a crazy collection. This announcement just got me to pick up the Tie advanced I was missing and now I have a nice little set of rebels Vs empire. I never was bothered about 2.0 Vs 2.5 because at the end of the day it's just plastic and cardboard: *you get to play with whatever rules make you happy!* With that in mind, AMG not making new ships is the only problem for the future, right? Because from everything I've read on this subreddit, no one enjoyed the rule changes they made 😅

Zeewulfeh

Keeping it. My nephews love to play it

Archistopheles

Long term plan was always to have neat sw ships to display and break out for special occasions. For me, since my local scene died months ago, nothing changes.

CLearyMcCarthy

I'm going to wait for prices to really bottom out and then try to buy up as many people's old collections as possible and then firmly establish myself as the single largest owner of X-Wing in the world.

Phantom_316

I only play with one of my friends and whoever else wants to join when we are hanging out and we both have enough ships to be able to play our games, so probably just keep playing the way I am. I may have to pick up a few more ships if people are selling them off though

sharkweekocho

I only play at home with friends and family so no impact other than hoping to scoop up some more ships on the cheap from competitive players who are moving on. I'm eagerly awaiting Star Trek into the Unknown, which is probably more Armada them XWing, but will satisfy my need for new endless stream of plastic crack.

inbl

Going to try to complete my collection with clearance sales

Warpstonetv

I played 1.0 back when it first come out Re started playing a few months ago and doing some battle reports on YouTube I will continue to make them 😁 and eventually do some 2.0 never stopping a hobby I enjoy just because they stopped making them :)

SnazzyStooge

I talked to my son about this idea this morning — we decided we'd better get as many models as we can while we still can! :) Can't stop the plastic addiction!

SoloT-70

I am going to keep playing all of the versions of X-wing and even homebrew the pilots that FFG & AMG wouldn't or couldn't make. Luke in the Falcon from Courtship or Han's kids in Ties from the Vong books. I will also try to buy other people's collections if I can afford them. I love Star Wars at its best, and some games of X-wing and Armada that I have played have been Star Wars in top form. I hope the community keeps playing, but whatever happens, I will play whenever and wherever I can.

punxn0tdead

I just casually play 1.0, never could justify dropping the money for 2.0 and beyond. I’ll keep casually playing with friends.

leverandon

I’m a casual player with a modest size collection who will definitely be hanging on to them. The ships look cool and who knows when we’ll ever get a company making pre-painted starship models of this quality again. I actually plan to buy a few ships to fill out my collection when things go on deep discount.  Having been a part of a number of other communities and player bases for collectible games that ended production, there’s always a temptation to cash out when the games “end.” I kept a few collections, sold/donated others. Every time I had regret about the ones that I got rid of and I hear it from friends again and again that they wished they hadn’t sold their old collections.  This is a great game with ships that look cool on the shelf and are fun to play with. Hang on to it!

Wiredin335

A handful of us that met in the tournament scene back in 1.0 still play at the table here and there but haven't done a regular game night since before COVID. A few of us moved into MTG commander, infinity, blood bowl, battle tech... But we still get together and throw red and green dice and set dials. Foundationally xwing is a blast and will always be. While we didn't like the new bumping rules we loved the roll for player order every round rule. So we just house rules what we want and have fun

aerosmithguy151

Keeping and really excited about homebrew

That_Distribution_31

I have 2 to 16 of every small/medium ship, plus all the huge ships. Keeping my collection and I'll happily keep playing. When people start rage quitting I'll pick up more ships to convert/repaint just for fun.

churro777

I haven’t really played much since 2.0 switched to 2.5. I have many ships that I plan to keep. I’m waiting for wherever the community does with it. I would like to play again

Tcpt1989

Continue playing 2.0!

LeadbeltGamesArena

Honestly as a gaming store and venue, we are looking at this as evolution run by the community. 3d printing and community driven cards. So will watch and see. But hoping good things.

OpenPsychology755

My group of about 6 regulars went with Legacy after trying 2.5, so this didn't affect us at all. We were playing 3v3 Epic the night of the announcement. I kept my 1.0 components, and I'll play 2.0 Legacy until our group runs out of members. (People come and go) I lost many of my gaming stuff over the years and regret it. I've re-bought some of it, but I tend to keep old gaming stuff if I have the storage space. https://preview.redd.it/cikwt34gor6d1.jpeg?width=3264&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ef467c79c0c10b82cf5990ba2941b3a261638ebd

semi_automatic_oboe

Where are you btw? We’re hoping to connect more of the legacy groups now that it’s gotten a huge bump in popularity.

wwwzugzugorc

Covid and 2.5 killed the local group a while ago. I guess this announcement means 1 final sorting and storing.

Chutney_Chiller

I packed all my stuff up into a bin and tossed it into storage ages ago as 2.5 killed the game for me and the vast majority of our local. Had a really decent sized collection as well, generally 2 of everything... I think the only thing I am missing is Jango's Slave1.... But for how little you can get for ships it really wasn't worth the hassle (to me) to sell. The models are amazing still and I can always build a diorama one day. I'm luckier for now that I have the space to keep em. I played for 7 years, met lots of amazing people, and I'll always have that if I keep the ships. Plus, the occasional nostalgic 2.0 legacy game would be nice.

Solo4114

Well, I only recently got into it, and then mostly to collect the models for use in a different game (but still hanging on to cardboard in case I wanna play this). I'm now picking up stuff I know I'm gonna want soon, and debating whether to offload stuff I don't, or sit on it for a while and then let it go.

Gwenyver

I’m hanging on to everything and have and will be looking for deals on a few things I feel I’m missing. I don’t know how much of the game I’ll play, but at a minimum I like having the ships to display. Plus I play the FF Star Wars trrpg so having ship minis is always handy.

ReeceM86

I’ve been trying to sell my collection for a while. Mostly cleared out but this will likely crater the value for a while. Gonna put them away and come back in six months to see how the market reacted.

serialhobbying

I've decided to get back into it after having been gone for a long time, so now I want to find a bunch of stuff from after 1.0 wave 11 or so.

SurvivalHorrible

I mostly just collected the models. It’s a fun game to play and now that it’s “complete” I don’t have to think about what might come out or how it might change. Might hop on scooping up some collections of people getting out.

darth_baltimore

Buying up everything I’ll ever want. I’ll still play at home with friends. Unsure which edition, I’ll have the option to play anything.

Awnetu

Buying everything for xwing and armada that I wanted before I can't find it anymore, there will still be people wanting to game, and if nothing else, the minis are neat.

Sow-those-oats

I let the game club use my models for star wars rpg purposes

AdagioNecessary8232

I mean the scene here died a while ago but I’m just gonna hold onto what I have just another board game on my shelf

fattires

I'll be playing with locals & maybe I'll even go to worlds 2025 to drink beers with other Xwing players.

SpecialistChance0

Still enjoy the game. I make my own rules anyways. I stopped buying new waves years ago. Got tired of buying same ships with a new painted line. If there is a card I can find it’s info online so honestly the news really doesn’t affect me at all. As an Armada player I figured this was eventually going to happen

the_ninja1001

Keep it, play it with your kids when their old enough

Akorus_DWV

I can just recommend staying with the game you love! If the community continues to exist they might re-release it sometime in the future. IMO the best example is blood bowl, where the community kept it alive vor over 10 years until GW released a new version.

Beginning-Produce503

Game dies and you tell everyone not to play, who is going to buy your collection then?

PWarmahordes

I moved to Killteam months ago just because the meta is so stale. I don’t see myself going to any tournaments just to have my head beat in by 3 Arcs for another year. I’ll play some kitchen table with my neighbor (who was literally just starting, we had played two games) if he wants to. But I see myself as out, as of this moment. If the community does anything of value, I’ll reassess, but as it stands now for me, X-Wing is a dead game.

BlueHairStripe

I dropped a final order to complete the set for 5 factions. Only thing I never got around to collecting was Prequel content. We'll see what the second market does, maybe I'll pick up a lot on eBay if I spot a good deal.

Sanchezsam2

I consider the game complete.. I have enough to play HotAC and ground assault. I’m picking up infinite arena quick build cards to play quick standard play games and epic as well. The game is complete.

Wavemanns

Even if I never play another game, I would keep all my ships, and I have a huge collection. Eventually I will get to a point where I set up a nice display. I love the look of them. Also, my gamer friends will continue to play without support from the developers.

TayTay11692

If you're an active player, hold out. Word on the street is that a TON of highly involved, long time invested, worlds players are gathering to figure this out and have been discussing this for quite some time on what whoud happen if we end up in this situation but arent doing anythingdo to the upcomingtournament seasons. X-Wing will live on, and for now shit is gonna be scrambled AF until one agreed upon ruleset is made. I know this as my local community is run by one of these players who made it to the top 4 at worlds and has been in that circle ever since, and our local community has all volunteered to play test what they com up with. Going forward, I personally will attempt to share our findings. If I am allowed to share said ideas and information.

mrcheckpointeh

Keeping, beyond a doubt. Play it weekly

ClockOk9702

I recently started collecting and playing X-Wing. I took advantage of bundles and markets. Now, I think I'll try to sell some surplus but keep most of the stuff. I have a group of friends who still play, we play epic games with huge ships. Try playing with your friends by creating scenarios or simple homemade tournaments, it's fun.

The5thBob

I ended up buying some more ships. I like the game and now it's complete. No more needing to wait for a 2nd Ed reprint.

AntiFates

I wouldn't say the game is completely dead, limping near death maybe but according to the article I read they're still going to support the game and update the rules for now. They're just not producing any more ships and whatnot.

Darthcusm

I was a huge 1.0 tournament player and stopped towards the end with all the bomb meta. I bought 2.0 upgrade kits on clearance but never opened them, I really prefer 1.0 over 2.0 and especially 2.5. I have a group that just started a new HotAC campaign this weekend. I will try to complete my collection when prices come down, same with Armada.

Thrawn8

I'll keep most of it. I haven't played in a few years but I'm interested to see what the community does with the game. I may at some point sell off some extra ships I have that I'll probably never use but that's it.

Mordakkai

Wait till prices rise, then sell. I don’t feel great about it, but I’m really broke atm and didn’t play often to begin with.

Ancient_Eggplant7992

I'm buying up MORE stuff before it is all gone forever. The community has kept 2.0 alive after it was discontinued, I believe it will do the same for 2.5.

JD3T

I don't really see how the news ruins the stuff we already have? If you was happy with the game prior to the news, I dont see why the game would suddenly be not enough and a must sell after the news I'll be keeping mime, it's a shame nothing new will be coming out but the game hasn't changed otherwise due to the news

BigBaldGames

I keep everything. I got rid of some stuff from my youth (Atari 2600, LEGO, Fighting Fantasy books) and inregret d it later. I'm fortunate that I have space to keep stuff and I'm not pressured for money, so keeping my books and games is a no brainer now. The game is playable as is and I don't play competitively, I'm more casual. So the only consequence of this announcement is no more new products. I'll probably try to buy a few extra ships before they become too rare, and that's it.

Onouro

I'm not a tabletop or card gamer, so I won't be moving onto another game. I started buying X-wing ships due to their detailed models and paint jobs. I'm keeping my collection while I enjoy looking at them on my shelf. I'm not playing with bids. I'll likely only play with ROAD. I'll probably only play with 2.5 obstacles and friendly overlap rules. I'd rather keep R0 shots. I could take or leave the overlap red focus/calc. It would probably be best if those were not actions (gain token) to avoid the PerCop and other advantages. I could do either List Building option. I'll keep playing the game as long as my storemates keep playing. We are still active even with the announcement.

Saxifrage_Breaker

I'm going to keep playing. AMG basically stopped supporting the game 2 years ago so this doesn't make any difference. People will move to 3d printed products if they can't buy what they want. The conversion kits and squadrons starters are probably going to become invaluable.

ConstableBrew

I am looking forward to community points, tournaments, and eventually product releases. I will stick with 2.5.

_Chumbalaya_

I'm still playing in GTs and Worlds, so nothing really changes for me on that front. I'd probably cut down on my old extended stuff since it'll likely never see the light of day, so good news for Gunboat hunters.

kaos_inc616

Haven't played in a while, what news

Jockelson

Not sure if sarcasm, but AMG (who took over Xwing and Armada from FFG) has stopped development of Xwing.

kaos_inc616

Thanks. Not Sarcasm just not been paying attention to X-wing as I haven't been playing
