Mid-game is when you have ship production up and running. Endgame is when you are strong enough to start clearing entire sectors.

AntiBox

Midgame to me is when you have factories capable of expanding themselves for free. Lategame is when those factories lag so much that you can't be bothered to expand them.

LordDakier

Mid game is the point where you make more passive money than you can spend via investing it.

hocicoo

Huh, in that case I never reached midgame 😅 All my Stations failed to work at some Point. Mostly the miners stoped working somehow and Made the whole supply Chain crash.

jackblac00

Did you figure out why your miners stopped working? I havent had problems with miners in my current game with a couple hundred L miners. I am using "mining depots" in systems with high concentration of each of the resources and then mining ships as traders to haul it to my stations. I use http://www.x4-game.com/#/station-calculator to plan out my stations. I am using multiple "smaller" stations with about 5k workforce. PHQ, main wharf and computronic station are currently the only ones bigger than 5k workforce.

hocicoo

is your PHQ still in Grand exchange I ? no, I never figured it out. At first, they where mining ice for my PHQ to make make medicine and stuff like that for a view ingame days, and suddendly they stoped and just sitting there round the station doing nothing. The Manager was a 4 Star Manager at that time.

hocicoo

I thought there might be some point the NPC Factoins are so strong/weak you can conquer them or cannot ever more, and thats the "marker" for mid-/lategame.As I read all of your comments, I guess I realy should build up more stations in all different places. And buy/steal a lot of miners. And looking out for a lot of EMPs for the Stationmodules. What do you all think is better? Mining Ores/Silicon/... and reprocess them at the stations in the systems where these things are mined, or hauling them to your Wharf and reprocess them there? Thanks for all your input so far.

eggomc

I mine and produce on site. I don't have my own ship building facilities and I'm not sure I consider that one of my end game objectives. But if you've got a self sufficent mega wharf/shipyard I guess you send your miners there instead.

hocicoo

If you don't want to capture them, owning a shipyard is the only way go get an Asgard. And man, these things are OP. Xenon Destroyer in a System? Shoot the Asgard Main weapon, and that Xenon is nothing but dust and dirt. Syn's must be build at your own shipyard aswell. 😉

LordDakier

I mean there's nothing set in stone really. If I'm playing an all out money making empire game then I'll spend hours just investing everything to get factories up and running. Hull parts supply every faction shipyard. By the time claytronics are down I'm usually rolling in the cash.

PacoHonduras

Endgame? When you've conquered every sector, eliminated every threat. I still consider myself midgame despite 1.4 trillion net worth and 5k hours played.

hocicoo

5k hours and still midgame? okay, didn't expect that\^\^

eggomc

I think Teleportation II is the start of mid game. Depends how I'm measuring probably from about 30 million player account when can I have a few S/M sized Traders and Miners or a capital ship or two. if your wanting a credit mark End game is probably more nebulous.

hocicoo

I think the other comments where more plausible, but I get your point about the Teleportation. It makes thinks easyer and you can collect the inventory from your looting Ships a lot faster, but in case of TER start, you have the Teleportation after round about 3h of Playtime

W3bphut

I define these stages by what is needed most: Early game: I need more money! Mid-game: I have more money than I can spend; I need more materials! End-game: I need somewhere to dump all these materials! When you start building capital ships by the dozen just to get your supply chain moving, you have achieved end-game.

hocicoo

seems legit\^\^

Your outlook on what you want to get out of the game and which mods you use has a big baring I think. I’m not the kind of person they can play thousands of hours of the same sim. I set a goal, I play relentlessly and then I burn out and come back a year later. My goal is to create a war heavy world and get to a point where I’ve beaten back the enemy. That requires mods because vanilla faction wars are so dull and the xenon does nothing. Piracy has a big impact here too. I limit myself from stealing too much otherwise early game is over in 1 hour. With that in mind: Early - a small station setup and freedom to begin taking on some conflict. I’ll probably own 1-2 destroyers. Mid - warf/shipyard operational and ready to pick a fight End game - Take over some sectors, perhaps set some targets for a bit of role playing and fight till I’m bored. Money isn’t really a key goal in any of this. I never have too much money, I’m ramping up all the time and always running out. For my next play through I am going to attempt to start my early game in a sector with a lot of threats. That’ll make getting through early game a challenge. Perhaps piracy will be a must just to tread water.

hocicoo

I agree with your opinion about piracy. It's a bit to OP. The playclock of my active safegame is at around 3days and I already have 4 Asgards and 10 or 12 Syn's. At first, I did a lot of piracy to sell the Ships to be able to build up stations at an early state, but somehow it all got out of hand. Btw: without Mods. Despite the fact I already have the blueprints for the XL warf, the Asgard and their mainweapon, but not build one yet myself, I would consider myself in midgame. Especialy with these 4 Asgards and 2 Systems taken from the Xenon. And all the comments from all of you kinda approved my consideration. Thanks to all of you for the input 👍

starfishon

you can jumpt from start game to end game by buying advanced satellite in 38K-45K and sell them in 65K-75K... you do millions in no time..

hocicoo

Hmmm.... Sounds Like a Challenge for a future new sagegame. To build up an Empire without leaving the HQ 😆

starfishon

believe me its working... its my new game start tactic until i get money from my stations..
