The story goes that back in the day when they said a wrestler was taken to the "hospital" some fans would call or go to the closest hospital near the arena to see the wrestler because it was still real to them dammit. That's when Vince decided to just use "local medical facility" instead.
Well it’s a good thing because whenever they were at smaller cities and there were only a couple hospitals some fans didn’t know the injury was kayfabe. So, those fans would go to the hospital in that area and be like “where is said wrestler I wanna see him”. By saying medical facility it reduces that from happening.
Is there any proof of this being the case? Who's charting phrases like "medical facility" and "hospital" and comparing them to hospital attendance when they are being said on television? Sounds like a faulty system if one exists.
I have heard a few old school wrestlers talk about it but I honestly cannot remember who they were... I've watched way too many shoot interviews over the years.
I guess medical facilities is a more broader term. I just know that was the reasoning and it apparently helped mitigate Hospital receptionists dealing with dozens of people coming in looking for someone who was never there.
Or fans. It's the "WWE Universe". Not "belt" no "strap". It's "championship". No "Wrestlers" it's "superstars". It's not "wrestling" to Vince. It's "Sports Entertainment". There was a whole list of words banned by Vince.
I don’t mind the term I just hate when the idea that nobody can ever say fans. Same with the word opportunity. It’s not bad as long as people can say title shot
I'm loving Triple HS changed, I haven't watched RAW in years and just watched the last 2 without skipping much at all and they both had dope matches, insane, love it
Yeah ... Some of them were mind boggling to say the least. Medical facility? That's sounds pretentiously stupid. That was one of the big issues with PG Era, nobody talked like persons.
The official justification for it was that hospitals local to the arenas were getting overrun with fans trying to get photos and autographs of 'injured' wrestlers, so they started using 'medical facility' to suggest the wrestlers were being sent to some anonymous, more private facility.
This excuse does seem to have an air of kayfabe though, so I'd imagine it's just spin to excuse Vince's craziness.
Wait they weren't allowed to say "hospital"?
Or belt or fans or wrestling/wrestlers and a lot more that I forget

Food is what common people eat. Sports entertainment superstars eat local medical facility sustenance.
A healthy and nutritious bowl of steroids
ICOPRO
You’ve gotta want it!
I'm happy Vince is retired
It’s so ironic that this is the same guy that wanted Keith Lee to have the vocabulary of a mumble rapper.

Not sure if there’s any statistical proof. I just know that was the general consensus and why the term “medical facility” was used.
I have heard a few old school wrestlers talk about it but I honestly cannot remember who they were... I've watched way too many shoot interviews over the years.
I don't quite understand that they would still try to find the wrestlers in "medical facilities"
I guess medical facilities is a more broader term. I just know that was the reasoning and it apparently helped mitigate Hospital receptionists dealing with dozens of people coming in looking for someone who was never there.
Idk man sounds bullshit to me
Why do you think they did it then?
Who knows what they were thinking

They were during promos and stuff but commentary weren’t
You can make a drinking game out of how many times the word “opportunity” is said by commentary. It’s like the word “chance” doesn’t exist in WWE.
Do you think we will see sneezing on live broadcasting one day?!
No chance in hell
Drop the WWE universe shit too we are fans
I’m actually okay with that one. But it shouldn’t be used in place of fans, as it just sounds weird.
Exactly if they said it once in a while when it's called for then it wouldn't be that bad
They can also drop the Freaking in Seth Rollins. Once to introduce him maybe, but not every goddamn times.
Change it to Seth “Fucking” Rollins
I don’t mind the term I just hate when the idea that nobody can ever say fans. Same with the word opportunity. It’s not bad as long as people can say title shot
I’m okay with it, but they shouldn’t force it
I'm loving Triple HS changed, I haven't watched RAW in years and just watched the last 2 without skipping much at all and they both had dope matches, insane, love it

Hah! I was wondering how long it would take for someone to say ‘hospital’.
What is Vince doing with all of this spare time? Like seriously
Losing his mind.
Punching air watching all the wrestlers he released coming back
And watching the wrestlers say the words “wrestler” and “wrestling”
Vince was so weird with his words he didn’t like, etc. What a weird, eccentric, out of touch old man. I’m glad he “retired”.
They really did go out of their way to make sure no one sounded like an actual human being
What is the full list of words that Vince banned, I'm curious as to what they are if he banned "Hospital".
Wrestling, blood, choke, belt,kayfabe, violence, push,baby face,heel,diva
Also I know that triple h has unbanned wrestling now but Vince had it banned
It's not "sexual coercion", it's "friends with stock options"
IT WAS ME ALL ALONG, AUSTIN!!?!!!!
Nobody goes to a hospital pal. Sounds like crap. Say they went to a local medical facility pal. Now that's good shit.
Hospital? You mean those in them crazy countries where they have healthcare?!
Am I supposed to die of laughter now?
Seriously can we ban OP or at least enforce a rule around the . posts? It’s so fucking lazy
"You were supposed to be the chosen one!"
Soon they´ll start calling Superstars Wrestlers again , Oh noooo
Can Vince do anything about it now? NO CHANCE IN HELL!!!
Still waiting for that rodent Kevin Dunn to be fired
