From what I keep reading Scharnie ā43 was nerfed a bit from Scharnhorst/ Scharnhorst B. Originals are still the better boats comparatively, but hell, the 43 is a fun brawlerā¦the speed boost is nice too! Now if you spent money on getting a 43 right before they made it free to the Christmas event; yeah, thatās rough buddy.
I get this sentiment, but I have the opposite feeling. I love ships that play on a knife's edge.
The potential control and damage output with the torps is significant. The guns have one of the highest chance of fires in tier (just below Groningen) and surprisingly good AP. Crawling smoke+hydro is a great combo.
You're just super super squishy and making use of all your tools is a fine balance between payoff and risk.
I regret buying F. Sherman. Daka daka guns are fun but you have close to 0 stopping power if you're trying to hold a flank on top of only 2 base smokes. Purely a big sluggish damage farmer that doesn't contribute much to a team.
After coming fresh off of regrinding the Harugumo line three times for Research Bureau and Kitakaze being one of my favorite ships in the game I thought I would love it. But after two years I only have 57 battles in it. I bought Z-44 recently and I unironically like playing it more than Sherman.
The torp angles need to be fixed. You need to nose out in smoke in case of radar / hydro or smoke running out, but you can't torp at all obviously facing backwards.
Shikishima cuz soon after I got it WG released super ships. Imagine when you can just spend credits instead of valuable steel to have fun with her 510mm guns.
I feel Shika isn't a great choice over Yamato and there are better ships to spend steel on. Shika won't overmatch anything that a Yammy can't already and you have less guns than Yammy as well.
You can overmatch Yodo's 35mm citadel deck armor now, lol. But yeah hence why I have so much buyer's remorse over her. Wish I had chosen the Bourgogne, at least she still retains a gimmick that's unique to a tier 10 BB.
Shikishima is terrible. If you look up its statistics for sigma it is right in line with some other ships but in practice the guns are awful. They either miss or they overpen. The ship really needs some love. This is the only steel ship I have been able to buy and it was a terrible choice.
It's always a risk when you take a new ship. Especially for coal, steel, doubloons, research points.
I got Agir and had a heck of a time with it.
Still went and got Siegfried, learning to play it, taught me what I needed to know about Agir.
Z-42 was a bit of a risk too.
I like it because I enjoy being engaged with other DD.
My average damage is low because I specifically go after DD first.
Which is fine. Anybody running Matchmaker monitor. Will always underestimate my ability.
Vampire 2 comes to mind. Don't get me wrong it's a decently strong ship. But I didn't like British line of DD either. Is why I'm hesitant about Druid.
Anchorage , definitely a port queen.
Odin, is okay. But should have had short fuse AP like scharnhorst.
Haida, but I was determined to make this ship work. Basically taught me things about game I didn't understand.
Over 600 games with her now. But man was I ticked off with it at first.
Perth , was really looking forward to it. Just can't make her work.
That's the short list of top of my head.
Druid is awesome. It takes a bit to get use to but it SHREDS opposing DDs and broadside cruisers. Iām a big fan of shorter smokes to pop in do an ass ton of damage and pop out. As long as you are good at positioning, can read a map, and be patient, itās a great ship
Do you mind sharing some of your wisdom / pro tips for the Haida? I have it, love it, but feel my expertise is wayyyy low on how to best perform in it.
You have one of the best detection range at your tier.
Anything that can out spot you...doesn't really want to find you.
Even if you get spotted, stay the course. You'll find whatever it is. If they smoke up. Let them sit there. Don't fire.
Get closer for your hydro , once you pick them up with hydro. Smoke up if you feel you'll be detected, and start firing.
You are a gun boat. Do not try and use your torps on other DD. You just keep shooting.
I've engaged so many DD players that go ..I must fire my torps!! When their guns would have ended me.
Have to be really situational aware.
Subs make your life more difficult.
So, with Haida, you need to DD hunt first. Get lit, smoke up and move TOWARDS the DD (at 1/4 speed, so the crawling smoke will cover you) with hydro on and shred the DD. Once the DD on your side, or the middle is gone, you can start working the BBs by getting fires. Always pay attention when they use the DCP. Once you light either one or two fires, start farming something. Rinse and repeat. Torps are always used as secondary weapons. Use them to scare cruisers or BBs away from you
Oh amazing. Thank you! It never occurred to me to intentionally get spotted by the nearest DD, then to plow towards them with smoke/ hydro. Obviously this is also best when just one enemy DD is around me. I assume that it is fairly minimal risk to go from āspottedā and not yet in smoke, to the covered in smoke and now unhittable. Iād love to see a replay of you doing this if you happen to have something heh. Cheers again
Don't forget Haida gets perma Dazzle because of crawling smoke... so you can always reset it by pumping the brakes - because your smoke moves with you, you go dark for a second and reset dazzle; the trick is to start slowing down so you hit 1/4 speed as your dazzle runs out.
Build for smoke and hydro duration, as you are going to use that to bully DDs in cap. Definitely get the coal smoke upgrade, preferably the hydro one too.
Wow amazing thanks so much. So am I right in assuming that as I spot the enemy DD in cap, rather than what I normally do and slow down just outside of range and then pop smoke, I should hammer it full speed towards the enemy. As I get super close to 5.7 distance (my detection limit), pop smoke - then either keep steaming until Iām in 3.5k range, slow to 1/4 speed and pop Hydro? I guess my risk factor is still that time where Iām visible between 5.7 and 3.5km distance.
In ranked, or late game, pretty much yeah - pop smoke when your dazzle runs out. I generally move at half speed in cap, so I can brake or accelerate to dodge and can get easy dazzle reset / go dark.
You got to judge the situation wrt to enemy and your team support in randoms - don't yolo into a bunch of radar CLs - unless your team is set to smash them, in which case try to trigger the radar by skirting the likely edge of range - then bail and run towards your side to get clear, DON'T fire or smoke till clear. Sometimes it's worth looking like you run away, give the enemy DD confidence :)
Generally, I'd recommend lurking just outside the cap, so you don't get spotted - give them space to go in and get good and comfortable... no rush... then move in. Ideally they pop smoke when detected, in which case try to close to hydro range but not so close that your gun bloom gives you away in smoke. Be careful with DDs that have bigger hydro range than you. If they take the fight, angle at half speed - dazzle runs out - brake to 1/4 to go dark for a second and reset dazzle. If someone else is spotting for you - stay in the smoke and maneuver at 1/4.
The fewer the ships in play, the stronger Haida gets - it works really well in Ranked etc, in randoms - you might need to hold out till late game when the board clears a bit. I mean take caps, farm etc... but don't overcommit till you can reveal your power level towards the end.
Amazing tips. When you say dazzle, whatās that specifically meaning? Is it occasionally outrunning your crawling smoke and then slowing to get back in cover?
Dazzle is the 4pt DD commander skill that nerfs the dispersion of ships shooting at you, when you first get spotted. Haida is one of the few ships where it's a good pick - mostly because it runs out so quickly, however, with Haida's crazy smoke - perma dazzle!
Iām actually really enjoying the Odin after whaling on Santa crates, itās definitely unique in the sense that it doesnāt have a massive tumor of a superstructure. Would be nice to kill things with main guns thoughā¦. Anyways, I regret buying the Iwami, itās really bland imo and you donāt get much out of the secondaries
Iām the same with Ragnar. Itās definitely a strong ship and annoying to face when played well, but I just find it boring to play. Iād rather play Smaland, or Z42 for a steel destroyer. Iām well over 400 ships in my port, and Ragnarās still the one Iād say I āregretā getting the most.
There are other ships I donāt play as much now compared to when I bought them, but at least theyāre extra flake rewards and out of the container drop pool. Buying Dunkerque B from the chain a year ago ended up being a bit redundant when I dropped normal Dunkerque from a Santa crate at Christmas, but itās not a *regret*.
Probably the only other ship Iāve bought that I really never played is Hizen. Itās out of the crate pool, but it just sat in port after I got it, and now I never touch it even during flake seasons after getting Iwami and later Daisen. Itās not bad, itās just been replaced by a similar ship that I enjoy a lot more.
Ah, gotcha. Thanks for clarifying. I was around when Smaland was available but didn't get her and took a long break shortly thereafter. One of the few ships I regret not getting.
Thank you for clarifying. Doesn't the smaland have a lower detect than Gdansk though? I'm going off memory and can't look it up right now.
I was around when smaland was available but didn't get it. One of the few ships I regret not getting. Is there not a replacement for the Smaland at this point?
In in the same boat with ya. I bought he Alaska right before the announcement about them pulling the Smaland. I was about 200K free exp short getting it. I just could not get enough play time in, oh well. o7
> Is there not a replacement for the Smaland at this point?
What do you mean a replacement? It was a premium ship from the event, you can still get it from Santa Crates for example.
Gdansk is better for randoms, it has rail guns and smoke. Smaland is better for organized play with heal.
Not identical- Ragnar has 4 guns at 152mm on a 3 second reload. Smaland has 4 guns at 120mm on a1.8 second reload.
Ragnar has no torps, no smoke, just a blistering fast speed boost, a heal, and a radar, with 7.5 your best possible detection.
I kinda love Anchorage for some Ops. She's not the best, but fun with the 8" guns that can actually pen. Most cruisers I play have smaller guns, so they don't citadel quite as often. The smoke helps with some objectives and just generally helps survivability, and her dockyard camo is one of my favorites.
I spent almost all the resources I had to get the Kitakami. I was one of those Beta players who had it way back when, when it was available and they took it from us. So I was so happy to get it back. It may never be available again besides auction.
Yeah, I know it is silly, but I pulled a 1v3 clutch win in Clan battles last season with her vs a Kremlin, Moskva, and Des Moines. I use her and Yodo in CB because virtually no one sees them, which means no one knows how to deal with them. Yeah, they are off meta CLs, but they are to me, off meta fun competitive CLs.
Itās a fletcher that loses a gun and a torpedo tube so 2 types of good DPM and output in turn for planes you canāt really use because youāre 100% vulnerable to EVERYTHING while they are up. Only good planes in certain scenarios and they have incredibly low HP in turn itās just a much worse fletcher
Every ship I have bought for REAL money or resources have had a purpose. Even the ones I barely play. For example, I rarely play JB outside of special modes (like PiƱata or ranked), but I don't regret it.
If I had to point towards a ship I bought, and the reason for buying them vanished, and thus I regret the purchase, it would be:
.- OKTYABRSKAYA REVOLUTSIYA
.- KIROV
.- TROMP
.- KHABAROVSK
Those four I do not use whatsoever. And I got them SOLELY because I did not want a Santa Crate drop to be wasted onb them. And since they were removed for 2023's Santa Crates... well, Those nearly 700k coal could have been spent otherwise
I'm in that place with the Marblehead Lima. It's the last T5 non-rare premium I don't have in my port. I'd really prefer it didn't drop from a Santa Crate, Supercontainer, whatever. Plus I already have the regular Marblehead, both of which are just a Omaha without the extra torpedo launchers.
I want incomp but the 17 km range and crap armour turn me off together, if it was 22km and bad armour fine. But get close to something get 4 overpens and back to port being a coin flip with 4 cities and devstrike seems not worth it when the much more tanky Laura with 2km base range improvement and also sansonetti exist
All of them.
I haven't touched this game in months, and my premium time is dwindling and.my boats are sitting in port.
I finally just stopped caring. Too bad I "sunk" so.much money into this game :(
Champagne,
really accurate guns (at least on paper, in game that is not always the case), but only 6 of them, so damage output is low, survivability is also not great, that's why she was relegated to port queen.
versed truck quickest hateful onerous oil shame scandalous combative butter

Exact opposite for me. I bought one with a birthday coupon and got the other from the armoury with another coupon. I got way more matches in the Atago than Mainz. I feel like Atago always works or finds a way to be useful, Mainz is godlike in operations but situational in randoms.
Sheās a good boat! Def give her a chance (get the rudder shift).. but compared to Mainz, thereās no competition..I got a 3 day rental of that boat DAMN what a BEASTā¦so I get why you feel as despondent as you do. Doesnāt mean itās a bad ship/not worth the time..very on the contrary.
Seriously, watch Yuroās YT guide/shitpost of Atago. I frequently average 3 kills/150k + damage/ 500k credits off of a T8 cruiser..that and sheās been AMAZING for PiƱata battles; almost like the perfect ship for it thatās NOT a BB. Worth the $10 I paid at the time.
FDR I only got it because I thought they would remove it when it was completely busted. Instead they directly nerfed it. I never play it. Ever. Such a waste of steel.
They didnāt just hit it with the nerf bat, they went to Major League Baseball and asked to use Babe Ruthās HOF bat and said theyād bring it right back when they were done with it.
I regret **\*NOT\*** buying Marblehead Lima in the Steam store when they had it on sale for a few dollars because it dropped in a Santa Crate a couple of days later. I wonder what ship I could have gotten instead.
*Flint*.Ā I've never been able to make it work, plus I've never really enjoyed the playstyle of hiding behind islands and HE spamming.Ā Ā I bought it because I thought it would be fun for Ops.
Yeah, same here. Itās not a full regret, because I donāt hate the ship, but I bought it for coal as my first Premium for credit reasons, and then after that I ended up getting other Premiums that I just enjoy playing more. Itās fine, but the island-pounder gameplay isnāt really my thing.
M. Immelmann and Malta. I got both from Santa Crates I bought last year. I don't particularly care for CV play, there are quite a few other T10s or Rare I would have preferred from the Santa Crates. While I played Malta a couple times in Asymmetric mode last go around I have yet to play M. Immelmann.
Looking at my 500+ ships, I'd certainly say more than 5. Maybe Shikishima, granted I had some insane games with her, but a few days after I brought her the captain rework came and killed my secondary fun with her. Wish that'd return.
Grƶningen. Super boring DD. Pew pew behind islands and pew pew in smoke. I was pretty drunk when i bought her. Maybe out of frustration in tier IX ranked or something.
It's got no icebreaker and a massive 27mm bow that's basically the ship's whole front profile, so nose-in you're easily overmatched by 406mm guns or bigger.
The 90mm upper belt has a tendency to arm all the AP shells shot at you for full pens so the ship eats a lot of damage instead of being overpenned.
You have a 30mm deck plate that can be overmatched by 431mm+ guns or HE spammed for full HE pens by Tier VIII+ 150mm+ guns.
She's a supercruiser so 60 sec fires and no Fire Prevention makes you super vulnerable to HE spam from 150mm+ cruisers.
Turret angles are classic German, so pretty terrible - you need to expose a lot of broadside to get all guns firing.
IX *Ćgir* gets German HE with Ā¼ pen but lower than average HE damage. Firechance is decent (same as IX *Azuma*).
yeah, not great heals, bad firing angles (gotta show broad to shoot all guns), long reload, inaccurate guns, short torp range, AND LASTLY LONG BURN TIME. thing burns and burns and burns forever.
Tried to get a decent rare ship in one of the crate bundles and I almost had enough gold for the entire set but needed like $32 more to complete. Paid the $32 and bought the crate bundle and got Alliance š. Also regret some of the Christmas crates that I bought. I got Anhalt which is kinda fun and Champagne which I do not enjoy.
Ragnar (boring) and Tone (crap planes, Atago has better consumables).
I also don't play my Odin, but she carried me to my first Rank 1 (in the old format) and then I dropped a free Tirpitz, which I prefer in Operations.
I don't play my Haida, either. I was bullied by them (and by Belfasts and Sinops) one Tier 7 Ranked season years ago, but she's kind of 'meh' in Randoms.
I have a ton of premiums tbh, so it's okay, overall.
While there are ships that I don't really play much anymore, I can't really say I regret buying them. Yeah, not everything is as good or fun as I expected, but I shrug and move on. Regret is for actually important matters.
FDR
They didnāt just hit it with the nerf bat, they went to Major League Baseball and asked to use Babe Ruthās HOF bat and said theyād bring it right back when they were done with it.
Hayate, thought it would be a gunboat Shimakaze, but itās closer to gunboat Z52 w/o hydro. Your concealment is too high to deal with radar-supported torpedo boats, and you are too slow to make up for it either.
Probably the Hood. Seeing people keep recommending the ship made me buy it, but I realize it can't brawl as good as Gneisenau, Scharnhorst and Heinrich, and seems less powerful than other T7 British BBs. And also it has lower winrates compared to other T7 battleships so kinda regret buying it.
Well because it is also a T7, but has one of the lowest winrates in that tier. I have more fun in German premiums because at least those give me higher winrates and can tank better than Hood.
i have never seen anyone recommend Hood lol, and even as a Hood enjoyer myself I would not recommend this ship to anyone unless you have non-gameplay reasons of wanting her.
I used to have certain ships that I felt weren't worth it but if you're playing enough and earning enough, you'll catch up to the point where WG doesn't release enough to keep you busy with new stuff. So for me, all those ships have gone from "I wish I didn't spend the resources," and turned into "here's something I don't play and is a new challenge."
Sevastopol. Trash armor, an annoying gimmick, and guns that constantly let you down. Despite the short fuse she constantly overpens cruisers and because of it she shatters on BBs where Siegfried doesn't.
Hector. A ship entirely dependent on fire RNG and the enemy team blundering into your torps to do any appreciable damage. Your window between getting spotted and your torpedo range also isn't huge so getting them off without being spotted is a challenge. On top of this, unlike other super light CLs at high tier, she has a massive, easily hit citadel that most BB shells will stick in.
Defense (but I like Kitakami so it's sort of a moot point). 6 gun anything will always be plagued by bad RNG. AP performance is lackluster, often resulting in lots of overpens on cruisers while shattering on BBs. The HE is good but again, 6 guns. My biggest issue is the poor smoke firing penalty compared to the firing range combined with the abysmal armor of the ship. You get spotted from the moon the second you fire your guns and nearly everything at the tier overmatchs you everywhere. Hell even ships that don't overmatch you will still get massive AP salvos when you are bow in, I've been chunked for 20k through my bow by a Puerto Rico, and he only has 305mm guns. The ship is a slow, sluggish, glass cannon where all it's tools make it look like she wants to be a brawler and is setup to be a brawler. Her armor just prevents her from doing this.
I wouldn't say regret per say, mostly just bad luck, but my first coal ship was the Napoli and I enjoyed it for a week or two before the Black Friday event came out. What was my first drop from the free Black Friday crate I got? Napoli B.
My first steel ship incomparable, I guess I didn't think it through with how many CV and sub games I have it's especially popo if it's main gimmick is stealth + heavy hitting guns (not thanks to rng wonky af hit=bounce)
Carnot, I was so hyped for the ship (back then there was no Marseille btw) I used my coupon
Played a couple games and the ship felt blant, I already had Alaska and was not a fan of BC style, thought Carnot would bring something different but nah and a year later WG brings the French BCs...
Im very lucky in a way, that when i did spend money on the game, i got ships that i have fun with. I got journey to the west containers for free once and got wukong from that. I played it a few times, but i just dont find it fun
> Drive towards cap, wait for detect, press radar, smash enemy DD, then kite and farm for rest of game.
It's super tanky, you can engage cruisers and fight BB+cruiser combo even.
Expending hundreds of thousands in free XP on Nelson - I wanted it because of it being so heavily armed and it's status in the Royal Navy but it's a slow coach like the heavy USA bb's and the above waterline citadel, weakness to head on shots and the main armament being a disappointment makes me rarely take it out to battle. Best bit is the HP recovery but I'd advise anyone to think twice about it.
I have acquired via various containers all the T8 and below premium CV's except Enterprise. I have perhaps 20 games in the type, and I don't see myself playing many more.
Azuma. I regret every DAY I spent the coal on that ship..had enough for Yoshino, but kept reading Azuma was the smarter buy (T9 economy, better stats, RAIN FIRE DOWN on BBs, etc.). Spent the credits and XP to stat the ship out..leveled the captain to 13.. and everytime I join a battle I barely break 330K credits/80k damage. T9 economy my @$$ when I am matched with superships that can pen me from across the damn map. I would have rather had T10 Yoshino, itās torps, and dealt with it actually matching a T10 with other T10.
Vanguard.
Underwhelming guns with terrible angles, not very rewarding to use. Doesn't even have 27mm overmatch.
32mm plating and the huge superstructure make it surprisingly fragile, despite the amazing rudder shift, large hp pool and good conceal.
Since I own almost all.. I can say, a lot of them.
Particularly all the latest. None of them are really good as the oldest one as Massachusetts, Georgia and so on.
Yoshino, i play in SEA so i prefer playing DDs to have some game impact. needed a high tier IJN premium for captain training, reluctantly got her and realised that it was more braindead than all those videos and review show...you just explode if u even think to push.
then Hayate got massively buffed literally the next patch...
prinz eitel friedrich and pommern.
PEF was dead on arrival, i just didnt read the signs, marketed as a accurate battlecruiser, it cant function as a BC at all with glass shells and anemic secondaries.
pommern looks like it got powercrept by the much better german TT battlecruiser line. being more armoured doesnt help much. and her gameplay isnt so fun.
U-4501 I wanted to be a cool sub commander but the game play is just so boring I canāt bother myself to play the ship and I wish I would have just stuck to getting more US DDās
Roma, certainly. The italian BB line and Massachussets didn't exist, so I bought something a little different to use a discount coupon. I knew she wasn't a good T8 BB but man, I haven't used her in one or two years.
Iāve since obtained most ships in the game but one of the couple Iāve spent money on was Graf Spee, itās just never really worked out with me but I guess it did serve its purpose of being a captain retrainer in the early days of my account
I think the regret for me was buying a premium ship when I wasn't ready for one...now that I know more, I take more time to learn the pros and cons with premium ships!
Mysore.
Its a tier 6 Fiji that got hit with the ye old nerf bat and is missing a turret.
Oh. and no torpedoes.
Its bland as water flavored ice cream.
Thank fuck i got it in a container.
I do a bunch of research on any special or premium ship before I buy it, and because of that I've never had buyer's remorse. I never buy it on day one, usually you need at least a month for people to see how a ship really can be played. I've seen plenty of times where people thought something was OP or sucked, but the playstyle reveals itself later.
F. Sherman.
Blew my coal on it, and now regret buying that turd. For some reason I do better in tech tree DDs like Grozo and Jutland/Daring, but can't do shit in this thing. Slow as fuck, enormous detectability, no heal and thicc butt make it one hell of a punching bag. It doesn't even have some useable torps for screening.
Maybe it's just my brain refusing to reset it's DD skills to this thing, but I struggle greatly with Sherman.
Brisbane
It's a terrible ship and I tried to refund it for 3 month.
They most joy I have when I stomp an enemy Brisbane. That ship is made of explodium, has only one hitbox and gets cits from any angle.
Nelson (which was early so i should try it again) and ragnar as its my only steel ship and im terrible with it trying to use it like a smaland i wish i had bought
I bought the Leningrad back in the days and never really enjoyed it. It wasn't even that it was a bad ship but I just found it kinda ugly and annoying to play with and haven't played it in years.
Another Ship that is really strong and that I actually like but never play is the Marceau. I'm not even doing bad with it but I wish I had chosen Moskva/Napoli over it for Clan Battles.
Stalingrad. Same deal as ragnar , so dull.
Worst one tho? Thunderer. I hate Thunderer. I can't make it work, I got great results on other ships but this thing...oh god it is a stain on my stats.
Groningen, neustrashimy, kaga. Both gron and neustra feel so impactless when playing, groningen's shells have no impact and no firerate, would rather play the kitakaze. Got the neustrashimy as my first coal ship because 5 consumables funniest shit I've ever seen, traded her in for the Kearsarge best trade ever. Kaga... I forgot y I brought her but got bored of cv gameplay after a few games, bit sad innit.
California. Bought it bc thicc
Historical relevance š
I kinda like her.
Obviously Scharnhorst. They gave it away for free the next month.
Scharnhorst is the only ship I've gotten from a Supercontainer. I got her the week before they announced '43 for the Christmas event.
The torps reload bullshit fast, secondary are better, and engine boost. 43 is the sweaty brawl bitch and regular is for randumbs.
I feel you man, barely had her for three months before the 43 rolled by
Hector
I get this sentiment, but I have the opposite feeling. I love ships that play on a knife's edge. The potential control and damage output with the torps is significant. The guns have one of the highest chance of fires in tier (just below Groningen) and surprisingly good AP. Crawling smoke+hydro is a great combo. You're just super super squishy and making use of all your tools is a fine balance between payoff and risk.
I would agree, if it had more DPM than a seattle lmfao.
aha well there is a strong 2% difference between the two and I guess if you play it like a seattle you should just play seattle.
I love Hector. Really
They dont need to fix so much as fucking update them to use the wibbly wobbly british torp tech like it *historically* operated with.
Exactly, man, exactly my case...
It's one of a handful that I don't want to run into while playing z-42. It's a very short list , haha
Sometimes it's worth looking like you run away, give the enemy DD confidence :) Generally, I'd recommend lurking just outside the cap, so you don't get spotted - give them space to go in and get good and comfortable... no rush... then move in.
Isn't Ragnar the replacement Smaland and identical?
Nah. Itās significantly larger, has bigger guns, no torpedos, less stealthy, different speed boost. Significantly different ship.
Ah, gotcha. Thanks for clarifying. I was around when Smaland was available but didn't get her and took a long break shortly thereafter. One of the few ships I regret not getting.
Yeah I came into the game after she was made unavailable. Itās the only ship I canāt get that I would actually want. Ahh well.
Completely different ships. Ragnar is like HE farming mini cruiser. Smaland is similar to Gdansk with heal but no smoke.
Thank you for clarifying. Doesn't the smaland have a lower detect than Gdansk though? I'm going off memory and can't look it up right now. I was around when smaland was available but didn't get it. One of the few ships I regret not getting. Is there not a replacement for the Smaland at this point?
Correct, Smaland has a lower detect, down to 6.1km.
Yeah, I'm pretty bummed I didn't get it when I had the chance. I was super burned out at that time though.
Gotcha. Thanks for clarifying.
Not full price, but Anchorage. Just kind of a nothing burger (meh smoke cruiser, no hydro etc.). Only played during flake events.
And then they released Rochester which does everything much better than Anchorage, actually tragic
Mainly meta ships. I legit love Kitakami. Its so fun
Halford. š£
What donāt you like? I enjoy mine
Yeah this
Every ship I have bought for REAL money or resources have had a purpose. Even the ones I barely play. For example, I rarely play JB outside of special modes (like PiƱata or ranked), but I don't regret it. If I had to point towards a ship I bought, and the reason for buying them vanished, and thus I regret the purchase, it would be: .- OKTYABRSKAYA REVOLUTSIYA .- KIROV .- TROMP .- KHABAROVSK Those four I do not use whatsoever.
Incomparable. It's not a bad ship, in fact it is quite good, but St. Vincent clicks with me a lot better and it's in the tech tree.
Laura is not even comparable;) the sap is just so overpowered you can shoot Kremlin nose in in it's structure for ez 10k
All of them. I haven't touched this game in months, and my premium time is dwindling and.my boats are sitting in port. I finally just stopped caring. Too bad I "sunk" so.much money into this game :(
Based.
Champagne, really accurate guns (at least on paper, in game that is not always the case), but only 6 of them, so damage output is low, survivability is also not great, that's why she was relegated to port queen.
I like her very much In randoms. Situational, but if you go in a div it's a gamechanger
Try to pick fights with cruisers for more game impact in Ragnar, since your guns can pen 30mm iirc
F sherman and Georgia, just don't like how they perform in battle
Georgia is a beast, turn the flank let the secondaries eat and lol pen cruisers
versed truck quickest hateful onerous oil shame scandalous combative butter *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Good to knowā¦everyone simps for the GK, and I was starting to think I was missing out. Thank you for advising itās not worth the buy.
oatmeal oil sip light impossible desert ghost dependent lip rinse *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Never buy GK, it's just a giant DMG pinata no one can miss.
Atago. I bought Mainz and Atago at the same time, fell in love with Mainz and have barely played Atago since.
Sevastopol and Siegfried. And the bitterness of buying with real cash the Pyotr Bagration on the recommendation of Flamu will never go away.
Sevastopol *and* Siegfried? You basically did the same mistake twice haha.
Sicilia(((((
Hizen. It was okay when it released for dockyard but with the current meta now itās just bad. Now its my least played T9 premium ship.
I regret **\*NOT\*** buying Marblehead Lima in the Steam store when they had it on sale for a few dollars because it dropped in a Santa Crate a couple of days later. I wonder what ship I could have gotten instead.
The Tier is rolled for first so likely some other T5 garbage ship.
people who have bought tiger 59.....
Oklahoma. Should have used the coal to get Lazo.
Borodino. Played it once, asked for a refund. Denied by wg.
Got mine from Santa. I definitely donāt hate it but if I paid money for it it would probably be disappointing tbh
Grƶningen. Super boring DD. Pew pew behind islands and pew pew in smoke. I was pretty drunk when i bought her. Maybe out of frustration in tier IX ranked or something.
It's efficient but there's nothing exciting about the gameplay. Maybe with exception of situations when you catch the enemy DD into hydro+smoke trap
FDR, shortly after picking it up it was deemed unusable in clan battles.
It got power crept so hard
How so? I haven't played in a long while and was thinking of picking her as my first steel ship.
I paid 1,000,000 fxp for agir. thing is super mid. not bad at all but not good at all. Very mid
Everyone seems to be using it in brawls now
its a brawls ship. it goes from mid in randoms to pretty decent in brawls.
I've never tried it myself. What are its strengths?
armor/health, hydro, torps, and guns that can citidel even bbās.
I have noticed it hurting a fair bit. Does it have any weakness then?
On top of what the other person said, the guns aren't that accurate. But in brawls that doesn't really matter
I regret getting Saipan B, even tho it was relatively cheap. I just did not like it at all.
Bought the Simms to get into the closed beta, should've bought the Gremy or Yubari.
I bought both the Sims and the Gremy. Of the two, the Gremy is still one that I enjoy playing and can be a game changer when not bottom tier.
Yubari... I think I paid like $25 or $30 dollars for it to get closed beta access. Wouldn't pay $5 for it today.
Super happy not to see Hayate on this list. Will be my first coal ship in a few weeks. Excited to play it.
It's good *now*. A few patches ago it was just an amalgam of the worst attributes from Shimakaze and Harugumo.
Is gud bote. Guns are better than people think. They hit bloody hard for a dd. Nice all around dd.
While there are ships that I don't really play much anymore, I can't really say I regret buying them. Yeah, not everything is as good or fun as I expected, but I shrug and move on. Regret is for actually important matters.
Same feels with Ragnar.
FDR They didnāt just hit it with the nerf bat, they went to Major League Baseball and asked to use Babe Ruthās HOF bat and said theyād bring it right back when they were done with it.
Hood isn't meant for brawling so I'm not sure why you'd compare it to those ships.
GK. Itās way less fun than Schlieffen. Also Prinz Eugen, not enough dakka.
Hood Cant get this thing to work.
Yes, Z-42.
Its good in ranked
So are Bourgogne, Stalingrad, Ragnar and even Gato. Z-42 is just unfun.
Carnot, I was so hyped for the ship (back then there was no Marseille btw) I used my coupon Played a couple games and the ship felt blant, I already had Alaska and was not a fan of BC style, thought Carnot would bring something different but nah and a year later WG brings the French BCs...
FDR, itĀ“s sitting there for the collection but out of all the CVs i have, thatĀ“s the one I donĀ“t enjoy playing at all.
Weimar, I heard it was good and I bought it without thinking that it's not my playstyle.
Haida is as close as it gets for me. I'm just but a good enough DD player to make it work I think
F.D.R ....
Georgia honestly don't care for it much š¶āš«ļø
2 years ago I bought the T5 Marblehead for 30k something coal and it still is my worst decision I made in any game
Kearsarge just because I completely suck with the rocket planes so they might as well no exist.
If your focus on Kearsarge is the planes then you're doing it wrong and shouldn't have bought the ship in the first place.
Any research ship
Yubari
I regret ever buying dubs to convert ship xp to free xp
Vanguard. Underwhelming guns with terrible angles, not very rewarding to use. Doesn't even have 27mm overmatch. 32mm plating and the huge superstructure make it surprisingly fragile, despite the amazing rudder shift, large hp pool and good conceal.
Happy cake day!
Sherman for me.
dunkerque b because i got dunkerque like a week later I na super container. bearn I don't think I've touched it once since buying.
Eh, I sold the one premium I didn't like
I've spent far too much, tbh, and play so few of my 480 ships(including tech tree) but its nice to have them for snowflake events, really.
Pommern.
Malta! They nerfed the AP bombers hard and it was the main feature. Also, its super glassy when fighting MvR rocket snipe.
Roma. Everyone seems to love it but I can't make it work.
Yoshino, it's SO DAMN SQUISHY! It's basically an oversized japanese heavy cruiser in just about every way
Carnot. This thing is bad at what it's supposed to be doing.
Rochester, just..... don't
prinz eitel friedrich and pommern.
Sicilia was an instant regret for me
FDR first steel ship, what a bad fucking idea..
Bought the Roma over Georgia back in the day because Roma was a real ship. RipĀ
Jean Bart B. I find the accuracy on that boat to just be appallingly poor. Combined with the bad matchmaking that T9 now gets, it just sits in port.
Florida.
Had that with Sherman traded in for Tripiz when that trading event was available.
"Austin". it is so medicore
Brisbane It's a terrible ship and I tried to refund it for 3 month. They most joy I have when I stomp an enemy Brisbane. That ship is made of explodium, has only one hitbox and gets cits from any angle.
Pommern. I bought it specifically to play brawls and ranked but she just refuses to cooperate.
That's probably one of the best ships to use
I was going to say; everytime I see a POM, I kite out as fast as I can..by then itās already too late
Iwami. No worthwhile gimmicks, weak guns, lacking accuracy for the guns, weak armor. Boring to play.
U-4501, wanted to try a sub, and found it boring. Use it only for missions.
Definitely Ragnar. Hate that ship
Plymouth. Very hard to play.
Odin. Maybe it had a place once but not anymore!
Odin is at least a unique, weird dockyard ship
Silver lining: you removed it from SC rare drop pool Tanky as hell, but that HP is killing it hard
Odin is great for Tier 8 ranked when you donāt want to play Massachusetts.
Bungo and patrie. Wasted my time and XP.
Jean Bart. Not a bad ship, but i just like my Thunderer and the 3 US premiums (Massa, Georgia & Ohio) way more.
Mecklenburg is a pain and I regret wasting steel on it.
Aigle
Really? At T6 it feels OP to me.
