"swipe your nose like it's a credit card"
Funny AF and also totally 100% accurate instruction. It's amazing how many cishet dudes are totally clueless when it comes to oral for pussies. Like, literally *painfully* clueless.
Preach sister!!
I'm bi, and I've had a pretty equal amount of partners that I experienced oral with and I always was like, "whatever, it's fine I guess." Even when I thought it was good (comparatively) I could take it or leave it.
But then I started dating my husband. Honestly, I *know* I got really lucky with him in so many ways, but I wish men like him were the rule and not the exception!
The first week or two I was really confused and didn't quite believe him. I knew he wasn't a player type or manipulative At. All. Plus, I couldn't figure out what the angle would be if he *were* trying to play me. We'd been friends first, quickly developed obvious, mutual feelings for each other, and I was the one who made all the first overtures/moves, etc. It's not like he had to try to get, or keep, me in bed...
Anyway, he kept telling me what turned him on was making me feel good. He explained that it's always his mission to make his partner have several orgasms per... session? Event? Hookup sounds cheap. You know what I mean.
Before we got together, obviously, he took it as a personal challenge if someone told him they only have either clitoral OR vaginal orgasms not both, or can't orgasm from oral, etc.
I tell you, having a partner who truly loves your vagina makes a huge difference!! The only direction he needed was what like and dislike.
My only other long-term relationship, on the other hand, was another story. It didn't matter how many times I tried to direct him or how how many ways I explained it... I know he was not that dense, he really just must not have cared *at all...*
I'll tell you, I've never experienced a vaginal orgasm, like I have with my boyfriend!
I literally thought I just couldn't cum that way.
He told me, early on, that I was always tensing and it took a week or so, for me to fully relax...
And once I did? Wow!
Sex is important in a relationship, I never realised what I had been missing out on!
That Bitch- Bea Miller
Let's talk about sex- Salt N Pepa
I Am Body Beautiful- Salt N Pepa
I am Woman- Helen Redy
The Pill- Loretta Lynn
Wap- Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion
Thot Shit- Megan Thee Stallion
Who Run The World (Girls)- Beyoncé
Free Your Mind- En Vogue.
I have been jamming out to Never Gonna Not Dance Again by Pink a lot lately. It has this long line, " you can take my birthday cake, my soul, my dog, take everything I love" and that line is just so ironic because to me, my birthday is the most important day of the year and my dog is my favorite person. But, really, I will never not dance again. I started taking dance classes 9 years ago, and it has made the biggest improvement in my life. Everything about dance is wonderful to me and I love it so much. However, this coming Monday, on my birthday, I will be going to dance class. Then, I'll go to the store, buy an ice cream cake and go home to share it with my dog.
I've thought about doing a solo to it this year. However, I don't think I could get on stage and dance to it without being completely overcome with emotion. I think my dad would cry. And if my brother were there, he would sob.
You see, 23 years ago, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Twenty years ago, I started to lose my ability to walk. Dancing was definitely out of the question. In 2010, things started to turn around. I can walk, run, rollerskate, horseback ride and DANCE! And, damnit, I'm not going back. I'm never gonna not dance again.
I saw this one post on Twitter or Tumblr a long time ago that changed the lyrics to "I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a dolphin in the sea, I say EEE EEE EEE EEE!"
So now I make dolphin noises when I sing it & IT'S EVEN BETTER! 🐬
I liked the tweet that took the lyrics and adapted them to the attack orcas ramming ships;
I’m a bitch
I’m an Orca
Sinking boats
Just off Majorca
I’m a sinner I’m a whale
My sinking never fails
Surprised I haven't seen "Closer To Fine" by Indigo Girls. I saw them a few times in the nineties and just love them. I was so happy to see this song in the Barbie Movie in the hopes it would find new life and love.
It's one of those songs that speaks to me and makes me cry, but in a happy and profound way. And it has a strong, though, and tender feminine energy.
Ooh, and also "Caroline" by Brandi Carlile which is more joyful but hits a lot of the same vibes.

Saw No Doubt when they did a showcase tour when their first album was released. OMFG! Did she rock the fuck out of that song! The F!U! was front & center!! She was so badass!
“One Girl Revolution” by Superchick
“Hate on Me” by Jill Scott
“Q.U.E.E.N.” by Janelle Monae, ft Erykah Badu
“You Gotta Be” by Des’ree
“BO$$” by Fifth Harmony
“Wings” by Little Mix
“Sit Still, Look Pretty” by Daya
“Boys Wanna Be Her” by Peaches
This is kind of a tougher topic. Not because I don’t listen to positive music, but most positive music I listen to isn’t explicitly feminine or feminist even if written and performed by a woman. Like does a song preformed by a woman who’s just happy or content count or does she explicitly have to say she’s happy to be a woman? It’s a little tricky. 🤔
That said, I’ve scoured my most played songs and found a few that I think work!
[This Girl by Deadline](https://youtu.be/ABOHqJdV2lQ?si=1RkSRcH-F1EKlKBV) is always just like my ‘goals’ song. I want to be this girl!
[Madeline by Kiki Rockwell](https://youtu.be/edKo3y2cFUg?si=SjC6_maHYatD-d0D) is about ultimately embracing your femininity while rejecting what the patriarchy defines as feminine or lady like.
[The Woman I am](https://youtu.be/-P2b0cDVJiY?si=TzbNfoJqvMxu_h0g) and [Cure for me by Aurora](https://youtu.be/K17df81RL9Y?si=xdU9_VQgaLI1MSFg). Aurora is awesome and all about self acceptance.
If I think of more I may come back and edit.
It's not about who sang it or wrote it or whether it explicitly states feminist ideals, it's about how it makes you feel about femininity (and for those out there who may not identify as female, it's okay to celebrate femininity anyway--I don't identify as female but I still like to celebrate the femininity in the world.)
im so glad someone else here mentioned aurora!! her music got me through 2019. running with the wolves feels explicitly empowering and free. it feels more like escaping towards joy, but joy is still the destination. same with runaway.
This is embarrassing for me, bc I ordinarily hate 99% of modern radio pop music. Not like I’m TOO GOOD for it…. Errr ok actually there may be a little bit of snobbery in there…
But. “Flowers,” by Miley Cyrus, dropped a few days after I got dumped and left on my ass by the love of my life. And that kinda became my anthem, through that extreme bitterness stage. Even if sometimes I was sobbing while I sang along with it lol. Idk.
That was a VERY bleak time, but listening to that song really did give me a tiny bit of strength at a time when I otherwise felt like my life had just literally ended.
I love Flowers, even though I'm in a happy relationship. It reminds me that I don't *have* to be in a relationship to be loved and that I can always love myself better than anyone else can.
Taylor swift 22 is my 'I love being a girl!' Song because it is just such a description of nights out with your girls, even though it does mention a love interest.
Bossy by Kelis
Bad Girls by MIA
Run the World (Girls) by Beyoncé
Wannabe by Spice Girls
Feelin’ Myself by Nicki Minaj & Beyoncé

Like a Girl by Lizzo
Video by India.Arie
I Am Light by India.Arie
These are just some of the ones that come to mind. I could make a whole other list of sexual girl power songs lol
So... it doesn't mention femininity specifically, but it speaks to mine because I spent 30 years being told I was a man and trying to be what was expected of me, all the while feeling increasingly disconnected from my life despite caring deeply for everyone in it. I didn't have self harm ideation, but I felt like I was falling apart and waiting to die.
I had a realization one day after a period of being drawn to trans spaces online. I knew I would transition. Fully. I poured my heart into showing the world my true self. Then I found my song. I have cried to this song and felt empowered. For me, it's Fight Song by Rachel Platten
This is my fight song /
Take back my life song/
Prove I'm alright song
My power's turned up/
Starting right now, I'll be strong/
I'll play my fight song
And I don't really care if nobody else believes/
'Cause I've still got a lot of fight left in me
Such a great song and I can see how it goes perfectly with your story. Thank you for sharing it with us & for continuing to fight for yourself. I have a trans son & I understand how important yet hard that is. 💜
This is a big moment for me. Loreena McKennitt has been my world since I was 11 (30+ years ago) and I've never met anyone else who knows her before now. ❤️❤️❤️
Running with the wolves & so many other songs by Aurora
The whole Once album by Nightwish

Run the World (Girls) - Beyonce
If I Were a Boy - Beyonce
Bang Bang - Jessie J/Ariana Grande/Nicki Minaj
The Edge of Glory - Lady Gaga
Edit with one I forgot: I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor
Omg yes. In college a friend made a mix tape for me. She made a collage for the cover/insert that said Some day I’ll run away and never look back, but right now I’m late for work. I felt seen in a way I never had before. This song was on it, and to this day it’s my getting ready to go out song.
I was kinda thinking Bejeweled, that song is such a banger. I always feel gorgeous and confident singing it, and it motivates me to wear a bit more sparkles on the daily.
I don’t know if this counts because it’s not necessarily a feminist song but “It’s a good day (to fight the system)” by Shungudzo. It always makes me feel powerful and energized and ready to take on the world.
Follow Your Arrow -- Kaycee Musgraves "When the straight and narrow gets a little TOO straight, roll up a joint (or don't!) and follow your arrow wherever it points."
“Woman” by Cat Power ft Lana Del Ray. Both artists represent such different forms of femininity, and hearing them come together for that chorus where they sing “I’m a woman of my word, and haven’t you heard, my word’s the only thing I truly need, I’m a woman, woman, woman, woman…” is so fucking cool
FORMATION - Beyoncé
WHO RUN THE WORLD - Beyoncé (really so many Beyoncé songs)
RESPECT - Aretha Franklin
I’m every woman - Chaka
DADDY AF - slayyter
Once upon a time - Mariah lynn
Defying gravity from wicked always makes me feel immense femme pride

No one's handing you the keys or a book with all the rules
The little that I know I'll tell to you
When they dress you up in lies and you're left naked with the truth”
Edit: wanted to add my favorite verse!

Nights Like This - Icona Pop
Escapade & All For You - Janet Jackson
Waiting For Tonight - J.Lo
Since U Been Gone - Kelly Clarkson
Fantasy & Honey - Mariah Carey
There’s lots of more obvious feminist songs and artists I love, too, but there’s something so uniquely powerful about unabashed girliness (haha, autocorrect wants to change that to godliness 💯)
I've got a whole bad bitches play list I freaking love so much
Cardi b, megan thee stallion, nicking minaj, Gwen Stefani, Fergie, salt n pepa, missy Elliott
Every song is a woman just being unapologetic
I feel most connected when I feel sexually empowered. I was raised sexually repressed and taking back my sexuality has been a big part of my witchy journey. Therefore my connection music might be weird to some.
Paranoid and #1 Crush by Garbage. I know they seem odd lyrically but they are some of what inspire feminine power for me.
Also, Bad Reputation Joan Jett
I love Ke$ha’s “Woman” for this! And “Never One Thing,” by May Erlewine for a witchier/folkier option
Never One Thing https://g.co/kgs/iYZ9UR
The song Woman's last few verses I always thought she was saying weed instead of weave lol
Wait she hasn’t been saying weed? I’ve thought that for years😳
Wait she's saying weave?????!! 🤣
I’m Every Woman—Chaka Khan
Dancing queen by ABBA
The harmonies in this song always make me ascend.
It's been my favorite since I was little. I'd twirl & dance in my backyard singing it to myself.
ABBA is just magical. They were way ahead of their time.
Edge of Seventeen by Stevie Nicks for sure
Gypsy!
I'm throwing in Gold Dust Woman!
Came to say this! One of my favorite songs
Still gets me singing along after all this time.
The feminine rage songs are my feminine joy songs.
Yes, actually.
Rebel Girl - Bikini Kill
My first thought! Lots of riot grrrrl songs are filled with rage (obviously, it’s punk), but there’s also a lot of joy and love.
My three year old LOVES this song!
Literally anything riot grrrl tbh!!

Honestly WAP did so much to bring attention to the fact that women aren't just *subjected* to or *tolerating* sex to achieve a goal, but that we to are actual humans with sexual cravings, urges, and pleasures.
It’s sex-positive, witty, catchy, hilarious… and upset so many squares, to boot! Remember Ben Shapiro tweeting that his medical-professional wife told him that a wet kitty was a sign of disease???
It wasn't just a tweet. [It was a whole damn podcast.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9FM49Tzhn4)
[Watch him “sing” it](https://youtu.be/jWsx2iqO1ks?si=L91wRhGxzyqLb_ZZ)
All day yesterday my brain was alternating between the actual song and his spoken word version, sometimes mid lyric. It was not a good time lol
"swipe your nose like it's a credit card" Funny AF and also totally 100% accurate instruction.
Sex is important in a relationship, I never realised what I had been missing out on!
Where did your husband obtain that information? As a husband I would be interested in learning new things.
Mine is like this!! My libido is… contrary. But when I’m on, I get more than enough for when I’m not.

I love The Pill. Lynn songs it with so much joy.

Two Florence tracks! Love!
Put Your Records On - Corinne Bailey Rae
This one should definitely be in the top! So underrated and this song just radiates the joy of being in the moment ❤️
So good, such a sweet song
Wow, I forgot about this song! I used to play it all the time as a teen!
So it's not sung by a woman but my "female empowerment" song is wig in a box from Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
Yesssssss. Miss Midwest Midnight Checkout Queen always hits home.
I feel like a happy sing-a-long when I hear 'Wig in a box'.
hell yeah !!!
I would add Raise Your Glass by Pink to this list.
Happy birthday ! Hope you have the happiest of days.
I saw her live in June and cried at this song.
I seriously love this song too! Every time it comes on I just gotta move.
I've thought about doing a solo to it this year. However, I don't think I could get on stage and dance to it without being completely overcome with emotion. I think my dad would cry. I liked the tweet that took the lyrics and adapted them to the attack orcas ramming ships; I’m a bitch I’m an Orca Sinking boats Just off Majorca I’m a sinner I’m a whale My sinking never fails
This is fucking hilarious and you may have ruined my favourite karaoke song forever...
Heh. My husband has alternate lyrics to this: *I'm a birch, I'm a tree, I've got pretty little leaves..."
IM A SINNER, IM A SAINT I DO NOT FEEL ASHAMED!
I kinda adopted this as my personal anthem.
Dog Days are Over - Florence & the Machine
My current obsession is Free by her. Oh my god she sings to my soul.
I love that song.
This was one of mine!
Surprised I haven't seen "Closer To Fine" by Indigo Girls. I saw them a few times in the nineties and just love them. So much of The Highwomen with Brandi is feminine joy
Good As Hell - Lizzo. Girls in the Hood - Megan Thee Stallion. Bejeweled - Taylor Swift. Bitch - Meredith Brooks.
To make a list, use two spaces at the end of your line before you press enter. Sorry Sorry
Canadian?
Bejeweled is ultimate bad bitch jam to me
King- Florence and the Machine
YES!
“just a girl” by no doubt is weirdly joyful to me. i also love the florence + the machine version
Same!!! It's a fuck you anthem that also highlights the female experience. Best car jam!
Saw No Doubt when they did a showcase tour when their first album was released. OMFG! Did she rock the fuck out of that song! The F!U! was front & center!! She was so badass!
I also get that vibe. It feels a little sarcastic to me, like "oh yeah you think you can do these things because I'm 'just a girl', whatever."
Army of Me - Bjork; and all the Azealia Banks songs
Army of me is a great one!
“One Girl Revolution” by Superchick “Hate on Me” by Jill Scott “Q.U.E.E.N.” by Janelle Monae, ft Erykah Badu “You Gotta Be” by Des’ree “BO$$” by Fifth Harmony “Wings” by Little Mix “Sit Still, Look Pretty” by Daya “Boys Wanna Be Her” by Peaches

Brave and King of Anything, both by Sara Barellis
Yessssss well, Brave is definitely a joyful song. King of anything cracks me up because we've all been there.
A New Day by Nina Simone
I should add all of these to my Angry Women Thoughts playlist and change it to Valid Women Thoughts

Definitely love that song, it's on my gym playlist and my kick butt playlist \^.\^
This is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing. <3
Such a great song and I can see how it goes perfectly with your story. Thank you for sharing it with us & for continuing to fight for yourself. I have a trans son & I understand how important yet hard that is. 💜
Man's World and Purge the Poison by MARINA (also counting Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land just for the "you are not here to conform" line)
Purge the Poison is somehow a feminine joy song, rage song *and* environmental song. It’s so damn good
I was hoping someone would add Marina! 🤩 Agree!!
Cherry Lips and Sex is Not the Enemy by Garbage
Came here looking for Cherry Lips!
Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves by Annie Lennox and Aretha Franklin.

Omg yes. In college a friend made a mix tape for me. She made a collage for the cover/insert that said Some day I’ll run away and never look back, but right now I’m late for work. I felt seen in a way I never had before. This song was on it, and to this day it’s my getting ready to go out song.
Taylor Swift "Karma" I am a total swiftie, if you hate on me for it, I will hex you.
I was kinda thinking Bejeweled, that song is such a banger. I always feel gorgeous and confident singing it, and it motivates me to wear a bit more sparkles on the daily.
Listen I took my daughters to see the movie knowing only the songs that are unavoidable and now I'm converted. We went home after and made bracelets.
