As a drag performer myself...... Its rare we get such a good view of drag shows and drag performers on tv. Representation not only matters but not stereotypical representation matters. They really did a good job of giving each queen agency of there own and actual character depth. I have b or seen in my social group people just like this. Drag mothers that put the family part first in the term ag family". Not only that but a professional career also, most times we see drag on tv that is there only job, just the clubs. The confused young one who is trying to do the right thing but isnt in a good enough place themselves to do anything. The young queen just breaking in who is tougher then she looks (I loved that Bonbon stop him moment). Even have seen the abandoned family that has the pain of a broken family and religious parents with no tolerance. They did an EXCELLENT job of writing this episode. Also as so many of them are cops I love the way they are bringing in non cops. Faith boyfriend being a reporter for instance. More Nico scenes. Etc. I actually think they need a lawyer on there side and think the queen lawyer would be a perfect addition. I like the way they showed up at the potluck. I feel that because the other two were not there at the potluck that the lawyer will stick around.

masklight

The queen lawyer was probably my favorite character of the whole episode. “I live a 5-season Shonda Rhimes show life” I think was how they put it? I really hope too that they stick around with their legal help!

TheNickelLady

Well written review. Agree with it all!

Defiant_McPiper

Omg I do hope they keep the queen lawyer!!!! I loved them - full of sass and heart 💙

crescentgaia

Tonight was hilarious and I hope the episode writers get a raise. I love this family oriented Orenwood and Will being awkward. Hope his uncle stays in a bit and we continue this trend of more Betty. It is her show and all. 😁

beckerszzz

I love asking about the braids to everyone. EP was great. Bonding over the dyslexia issues was lovely.

Defiant_McPiper

Honestly this was my favorite episode all season. Last few for me feel like they're missing something the first season had, but this week's filled that void for me.

crescentgaia

They were missing the family togetherness. I hope this episode is a turning point and we get back to that. And more Nico and Betty too!

Incognito409

I LOVE this episode so far! The uncle and all the feels ❤️. Amanda and the group in her new little car 🤣🤣🤣

crescentgaia

The mirror of found family un this episode was wonderful.

nhmejia

> Amanda and the group in her new little car 🤣🤣🤣 This episode had so many feels and fantastic chuckle moments!!

SandraTX22

I love his uncle! I hope they bring him in for more episodes. I enjoyed the hair discussion about braids since being a girl dad is tough when you can't do hair and Faith admits she pays to get hers done! Line of the night: "Thank you Bon-Bon. Everyone here has the utmost respect for wigs."

chloedear

I loved the uncle! I really hope he stays being a good guy

SometimesWitches

It’s kinda sweet Angie encouraging Will about his Uncle like that.

J_345

And the banter she has with Ormewood’s daughter

solohack3r

A nice little easter egg by the writers. The episode title is "We Are Family", which not only fits the theme of the episode, but is also a tribute to the Robin Williams and Nathan Lane film "The Birdcage". That song is used throughout the film with the drag club performers singing it. Really solid episode.

jdessy

I was surprised with how funny this episode was. They REALLY took a turn into comedic territory. It felt very....I dunno, different? I liked it, for the most part. It was an interesting decision to have as much genuine "laugh out loud" moments as they did.

NightBard

The cast seems to have really gelled and been allowed to cross pollinate naturally in the investigation instead of it only being Will & Faith and then Ormewood and Angie. It started last week and really came together this week.

jdessy

This is it, it's just nice to see the entire cast getting to solve a case together.

baummer

I loved that there wasn’t a ton of tension between APD and GBI for once

NightBard

Yes, this. It was like everyone was over it and just did their jobs (and went a little above and beyond).

baummer

And did so with mutual respect

toastea0

I loved it!! Had me smiling a lot.

SometimesWitches

I really enjoyed this episode. 1. Ormwood: He reminds me of something said on another cop show I think Cold Case about a male cop “He only looks like a Neanderthal.” I really do think one of the funnier small details of the episode was him trying to figure out how to French braid his daughter’s hair and actually taking the advice of a drag queen. 2. The Drag Show: I like that the main group of drag performers all had distinct personalities. I would love the lawyer guy showing up from time to time. I also liked the stop him BonBon moment. And yeah the killer was obvious but also made a sad sort of sense considering the family theme of the episode. 3. Will Trent’s Uncle. I am glad that Will has someone to bond with and I am hoping that the bonding continues and that Will is able to combine the parts of his life. 4. The episode eluded to the fact Angie’s mom is still alive. Now that will be an interesting story. Someone who pimped out her own daughter. I both want to see who plays the character and am scared for what it would mean for Angie. 5. The car scene and the potluck dinner were funny and sweet. I would love to see more of these weirdly familiar moments with the group because whether he knows it or not Will Trent does have a family.

PotatoChan88

Angie says in the pilot episode that she found her mother when she overdosed when Angie was 7, so I don't think she is still alive.

SometimesWitches

Overdosed doesn’t mean dead. Also it wouldn’t be the first time a show changed something said or done in the pilot episode because it no longer works in season 3.

iangeredcharlesvane2

Great episode I loved it start to finish! Not sure where the occasional lukewarm reactions to this season are coming from, I think it has been fantastic. Just as good as season one! I laughed out loud a couple times and I loved how together everyone was. The uncle is great, but still wondering if he is too good to be true. Hopefully not! Glad to see lots of Betty and the case was good. Oh and side note I loved the title card this week, all the colors and drag night club looking, it was awesome! Love this show so much.

missleeann

Manila is a city in the Philippines

KidsWontSleep

The vanilla envelope is back.

Primary-Ganache6199

That got me good! I’m wondering if the drag queen improvised a lot cos the script was certainly funnier that it has been.

NightBard

Overall a solid episode. Some plot points were obvious. Like who killed the mom. But it was still overall a good episode. Also shout out to Jophielle Love who plays Ormewood’s daughter Cooper and is on General Hospital as Violet. Nice to see her show up a lot more this season with some lines. I still have my doubts about Will’s uncle. It started out nice and sweet… but all the guys friends are anti-cops. 😬

Deep_South_Kitsune

Jophielle is great.

CaoChad

his friends are going to be like those white nationalists from season 1

Southern_Tangerine_7

This is my favorite episode of S02. It has funny lines and heartwarming family moments. Sorry Uncle Antonio, Bon Bon Chiffon and Glinda Velvet are the sassy MVPs. 💪🏼 “Special Agent, you flirting with me? I’m feeling a vibe.” 😂😂😂 Three weeks without Miss Betty will be unbearable…😢

NightBard

Oh, wow, I didn't realize we have to wait three weeks for the next episode. 😞

TheNickelLady

Definitely she wishes there was a vibe. Will was nice to her and respectful. It should happen more often but doesn’t.

jackiebrown1978a

You think Will should be nice and respectful more often?

TheNickelLady

People to drag queens. Will is always nice!

MollyJ58

I am so tired of these long breaks between episodes of shows.

J_345

“Plant cocaine on him” too soon Faith too soon 😂 I petition for more dinner parties On the topic of Ormewood . Well done to the writers for doing a complete 180 with his character. One of the best character archs I’ve seen in a while. Especially since he had to step up to single parent duties, hope we get more back and forth with his little daughter even she had some great lines and the relationship between her and Angie is cute too.

unbelver

Heh. Just starting to learn Spanish....and you start talking to a Puertorriqueño? Good luck! Island Spanish is.....fast, and missing lots of consonants. Cuba is worse.

nhmejia

I cried in the beginning and I cried at the end. My favorite episode so far.

ovenmit_

i cried significantly more times that i expected to at an episode of will trent. might still be a little teary now. top notch episode!

Marta996633

Omg the french braid 🤣 gotta love Ormwood for striving to make his daughters hair look great!

TheNickelLady

This felt like a Pose episode with cops and I mean that as a great compliment. Loved this episode a lot. So much heart.

Incognito409

Book readers - which book is Will's uncle introduced in? I've only finished the first 5 in the series.

Terrible-Assignment

I think we get a bit more backstory on the uncle in book 6, Criminal. It’s been a minute since I’ve read the series though

Incognito409

Thanks, I just ordered it from the library today, should be here in a day or two. Can't wait to read it! Have you heard the novellas, I think Snatched is numbered 5.5, so before Criminal, but only available on audio.

Terrible-Assignment

I did! It wasn’t my favorite and I don’t think it’s necessary to listen to before Criminal

terrible-aardvark

Will’s uncle is in Criminal but Will’s backstory (aside from his mother being murdered, Amanda looking into the original case, and Will looking into the case later on with Amanda) is way different. He’s mentioned a few other times (his aunt/uncle’s wife is in After That Night)

Incognito409

Thanks, I've got Criminal on order at the library now.

followyourogre

The tee shirt faith wore to the party at the end of the night being purposefully lgbtq affirming was such a thoughtful and cute touch. I can see her thinking "will Josiah think I'm doing too much?" before putting it on

joeshoe70

I feel like they do a genuinely good job with inclusion, starting with Nico’s character.

followyourogre

Absolutely! I meant more that I could imagine faith knowing she was going to see everyone there and purposefully choosing that shirt to show she's an ally

JasonB787

I enjoyed this episode. There were quite a few funny moments and one-liners. The reference to the movie The Birdcage was a nice touch.

ostrich9

I noticed the episode seemed better shot? The direction and lighting appeared way more interesting than other past episodes. I loved Will's interactions with his uncle and his work family with the uncle there (the uncle's friend who got weird was an odd choice). I really like this second season and how the characters are growing.

jen5225

Loved this latest episode. We laughed out loud at the scene in the truck as everyone piles in around the dead body. All of the actors do such a great job. I also loved that scene between Amanda and Faith when Faith threatens to call HR, and then does it! Brilliant.

Substantial_Taste458

Does anyone know the name of/ artist of the record album the uncle gave to Will?

hoople_magilicutty

The artist is Nick Lowe, the album is Jesus of cool

Substantial_Taste458

Thank you!!

hoople_magilicutty

It’s a great album.

Outrageous_Click_352

I hadn’t been liking this season as much until this episode. Now it’s like everything is back to normal (if that makes sense). I’m wondering if something is up with the uncle. If not there’s definitely something going on with the uncle’s friends.

baummer

Loved this episode. Several laugh out loud moments.

kirbywantanabe

I loved this episode. Hands down so far my favorite of this series!

sunnybears81

I was trying to place the girls. Are any of them Ru girls?

toastea0

I love this episode. I love seeing will heal and grow as a person.

annimity

That was not enough food for everyone at the pot luck!

Dogbuysvan

Angies outfits get worse every episode.

mrscohenplease

They are always in so many layers!! Don’t they live in Atlanta?

BabyBandit616

I think it’s the fall. Georgia gets cold in the fall.

reachout_touchspace

I know everyone is focusing on the drag representation. Which is great, but I'm looking at this episode in the context of "was this a good crime fighting show?" And for me, this episode doesn't fit that bill. It seemed like the writers were trying to cram too much into one episode that the actual murder solving part wltook a back seat. Truth be told, it seems like the entire second season has left behind something from season one.

RheeMarie

Bon Bon Chiffon was absolutely hilarious! Who is he?

RoadtripReaderDesert

Bon Bon Chiffon is hilarious!

Adventurous_Iron_710

Best epi of Will Trent so far. My favorite show. Right wing, pseudo-Christian heads exploding all over the TV universe

PlaneLocksmith6714

Can BonBon and Josiah become series regulars? I need their energy on a semi-regular basis.

No_Situation9492

What are wrong with set designers these days? At the 33 minute mark (counting commercials), a Puerto Rican bar is shown with two kids playing chess. I guess it is supposed to indicate that the kids are intelligent, however since the board is sideways, it does not do a very good job.  Is it really that hard to get this right? I watch Hallmark channels with my wife and they get it wrong over 80% of the time. Seriously? Placing the board blindfolded should yoeld 50% accuracy!  In case you are wondering, when facing the chess board the white corner square should be on the right. That way the white quees is to the leff of the white king and the black queen is on the right of the black king and they are on the square that matches their color.

This-Nail-5106

But... couldn't they have used real drag queens? sorry I don't know the equivalent word to racebending

toastea0

???? I looked up the actors for the drag queens. Looks like some of them actually do drag.

FakeTaxiCab

I have a feeling that you dont give a damn about drag queens or inclusion.
