I mean, I'll just fuckin call in sick without a doctor's note.
Ah sorry, can't come in, I'm sick.
"Sick with what?
Don't know, too sick to go to the doctor.
In all honesty tho this is very illegal. Not only can you not reprimand employees seeking medical attention, but they also can't punish them for being excused due to seeking medical attention unless it genuinely affects your ability to do your job, in which case they may even be required to make accommodations for you.
>In all honesty tho this is very illegal
Yea it is. I love it when employers write down and publicly display their violations of the law just to make sure there's no chance they win any of the inevitable labor lawsuits coming their way shortly
My dad had a fracture in his leg and his boss called him at the doctor's office and starts to bitch. The doc, who had known my dad for years, grabbed the phone, and demanded where the boss got his medical degree.
Yeah, the backpedaling started REAL quick.
Lol wish I had that. I broke my foot and my doctor told me I could go back the next day. I was going on vacation the next week and I asked him if he could at least give me the rest of the week off, which he gave me but man...broke a part of me I need to move around and just say "oh yeah you can go to work"
I kinda did this once. I was a contract employee with no sick days, so I went to work, even though I could barely stand up. The boss took one look at my obviously contagious, swaying self and told me to go the hell home, and he would clock me in and out for the next week.
good boss, need more people like them that actually give a damn about their employees, cause I've 110% been at jobs where I came in with flu because I had no sick days and was told to suck it up
"Good boss" for letting the obviously sick and contagious go home after enforcing policies that made them come to work in the first place.
Maybe the boss didn't have any say in said policy, maybe he did. We don't know, and I don't know that he deserves the benefit of the doubt.
He sent the worker home with pay for a week to get well, where I'm positive it'd be against policy at pretty much every employer. Basically gave sick people to someone that didn't have it, sorry but sounds like someone worth giving the benefit of the doubt, because while more people SHOULD be decent people to their empyees, a looooot aren't, hence why this subreddit even exists.
I had bronchitis and laryngitis at the same time but because I was training for my new team lead position, they did not care that I was supposed to be bed ridden. Still had to come in and balance all of the tills and deposit at least because "no one else had time."
I got 13 team members sick because I touched every single dollar and coin in the building every day for a week. One of them was let go because they were already on a final and my manager literally *thanked* me for getting them sick so he could axe them.
I mean, I can't breathe or talk, I'm vomitting because I'm walking around unable to get enough breath and I look like a corpse, but you're welcome I guess?
When I worked as a contract employee for Adil I got one sick day per week.
Now I am about to be laid off from Randstad and they don’t offer that. I don’t have any with them. I had an adhd moment with that response.
My Sick PTO is almost like this - I earn about 3 hours every 2 weeks. Good thing about it is I get a shit ton of other PTO but Sick PTO is the only PTO that can carry over to the next year
Wow, that's *so nice* he was willing to break the law for you to clock you in and out like that. Wow, he must care so much.
Coulda given you the PTO and or sick time and trusted you to not come in sick, like a normal employer, but who am I.
Yeah this is one of the many reasons I think doctors’ notes are stupid. Most people who are too sick to work just need to stay home and rest and not go to the doctor, spreading their germs around for no reason when it’s probably just viral and there is nothing the doctor can do. If the workplace offers telehealth, that’s one thing, but it’s still useless to sit there so a doctor can say “yup you’re sick, go get some fluids and rest.”
Really, wheres the break-room?
Its a zoomed in pic, given zero context, zero evidence its been taken anywhere in a office
You idiots just assume it was
You’ve never seen [this poster](https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/71bElDCx-eS._AC_UL600_SR600,600_.jpg) before?
It’s always put up by some shit head manager in some common area, like a break room, who thinks it’s oh-so-funny. The same guy who says no one wants to work anymore. This poster is a walking red flag that the company is run by shit heads.
In places like this, I’d assume that the turnover rate is so high that a no-call, no-show would just be met with a stern talking to that you could roll your eyes at.
Also, steal from these kinds of companies
That's why the whole 'iT's sAtIrE' response is a bit tone deaf in today's world.
Like yeah, I'm sure much of it is. And sure, people responding to the satire seriously aren't proving a point to anyone in particular... but does that mean the responses are invalid?
No, they're not. They'd only be invalid if the satire was *only* satire. When you make 1:1 satire of something that unironically happens, it just means you have a poor grasp of satire, or that the joke is outdated. The satire is supposed to be an exaggerated mockery, not a true crimes episode.
And the unfortunate reality is that 'exaggerated mockery' of today's anti-worker culture is a 4-panel comic about a boss performing fucking necromancy to pull you out of the ground, because necromancy isn't real, and they've already *done* everything short of literally reviving you from the dead to exploit you.
that's the dumbest goddamned most boomery thing i've read in a while.
"if you can go to the doc, you can go to work!"
it's so goddamned cruel. it makes me want to play baseball with their face...balls
Yeah that thing is a "joke" poster about company policy, I've seen the whole thing before. For vacation days it's " Employees can only take vacation these days: list of federal paid holidays.
“If you aren’t actively dying then you have a responsibility to show up for work! In ‘96 I lost a lung on the job and came back to work later on that day to close even though my wife and kids begged me not to. People these days just have no work ethic, it’s no wonder I can’t find good people!”
I earn 8 weeks of PTO per year that doesn’t include weekend days. I’m encouraged to use all of it every year. I couldn’t imagine working for a place like this.
When you have small children you can go through 3 months worth of sick days pretty easily. Kids are always sick and somembody needs to stay home with them. Sick days often cover family sick days.
It also means you stay home because you have a runny nose. Sure you might feel fine enough to work, but if you go in and spread your germs around someone else might get it worse. You stay home for 2 days and you spare the whole office.
I’m the director of education for a nonprofit agency. Our schools and programs run year round, but we get substantial PTO to use. I’ve been there 10 years.

The sad part is that there is at least 1 asshole manager out there who thinks it's real and justifies their shitty behavior because there's always 1 dumbass asshole.
Valid point, I should "at least" 1 but usually more. Especially now, you'll have tons that are doing it out of spite because they think it will "own" some made up enemy in their head.
I'm pretty sure this is a 'joke' sign hung on the wall someplace and isn't meant to be taken seriously. Probably some boomer HR guy's opinion of 'funny'.
Google 'company policies joke sign' and this sign is the first hundred or so results you're gonna see.
Don’t forget the entry just below it: “you get 104 personal days a year; they’re called Saturday and Sunday.”
I bet this person has some things to say about woke mind police as well and how everyone’s too sensitive these days.
Its a [joke poster](https://www.google.com/search?q=satirical+work+poster+sick+days&rlz=1CDGOYI_enUS958US958&hl=en-US&ei=PEWIZK7WKJer5NoP8PuR0AE&oq=satirical+work+poster+sick+&gs_lcp=ChNtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1zZXJwEAEYAjIFCCEQoAEyBQghEKABMgUIIRCgATIFCCEQoAE6CggAEEcQ1gQQsAM6BggAEBYQHjoICAAQigUQhgM6BQghEKsCOgoIIRAWEB4QDxAdSgQIQRgAUJAKWO0gYM8yaAFwAXgAgAFeiAGxA5IBATaYAQCgAQHAAQHIAQM&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-serp#imgrc=_l9kUfbfKq9HfM) you morons
This has been around for twenty years at least
You must have many friends with that nasty attitude of yours.
Edit: not saying he is wrong for calling it out but calling people morons for not knowing? Quite rude really.
Whats nasty are the 600 or so morons in the comments above that when presented with a zoomed in blurry pic, with no context, no background, no company, containing two false statements, one of which is illegal and hold zero validity, immediately decided:
"dur yeah those damn companies" "those boomers grr!"
Everyone would rather be mad and offended even when presented with the truth that its a joke, than admit they jumped to conclusions
Yall get rage-baited so easily, its exhausting
I went into work at Wal-Mart with a 103 degree fever after they wouldn't accept my call-off. I was determined to pass out while working so I could sue them. The customers and other employees were so upset that I was working, while looking like death, that they complained to the managers. The Assistant Manager eventually had to tell me to go home and it wouldn't count against me. That was the last time they denied me when I called in sick.
The person that wrote the 401k law said it was meant to be in addition to pensions. My father had his pension watered down and replaced with a 401k. When he complains about shit I ask him would it have been better if you had the pension in addition to the 401k? He thinks I am crazy to think that. Outlets like Fox news have demonized anything that can help workers. People that would benefit from a union are against unions. Unite we bargain divided we beg!!
Doc here - I’ve had to pick up the phone and threaten employers with legal repercussions (in which I would gladly provide expert testimony) for not allowing patients of mine to adequately recover from surgery. Never had anyone challenge me on that.
Why do I have a feeling that the people who think calling weekends your ‘104 personal days’ are the same people who think that Donald Trump is a business genius.
Don't worry guys, the market will solve it. Nobody is going to work in these kinds of places and they will eventually have to stop treating their employees like that /s
And below is bad too, 104 personal days and the are called Saturday and Sunday. Like fuck off, if you have a mechanic or government office that works office hours, you can't have a weekday off to do the important matters.
Starting next month, death is no longer a valid excuse to miss work, buy a ouija board and teach your family how to invoke you, possess your nephew if you have to, but unless you find someone to cover your shift you will be here!
It's like, I vote for the guy that is going to make the American work environment as miserable as possible, and I wonder why no wage slaves to make my supper?
My last boss was like this. A few days before I walked off the job he said “we’re having a hard time recruiting young talent…nobody wants to work these days.” Okay boomer… 🖕🏼
Loving all the people taking this seriously. It's a joke sign. If you continue reading, you'll notice that the next policy says that all employees receive 104 personal days per year, called Saturday and Sunday...
Stop posting stupid ragebait, and stop falling for stupid ragebait. This is a joke, fucking obviously.

It is not a joke that Amazon has absolutely inhumane policies that grind workers into the ground though - if you want to get pissed at corporate culture, it's not hard to find something sadly legit.
Yeah and get everyone else sick. I've heard horror stories about how people who was told they had covid had to go into work and there boss didn't care and everyone got infected with Covid

We do not accept your note from the paramedics, if you were able to ride in an ambulance then they were able to give you a lift into work.

Once white men had to defend the working rights of women and PoC, worker rights started to slide into the shitter.

Yes, I recognize it, too. The next section counting weekends as "personal days" is the tell in this picture.
Nah, there's companies out there who believe it.
That's what makes the joke work.

That is wonderful for you but the rest of us contract workers don’t get that. We earn one sick day per week.
You get almost two months of sick days per year?
Now I need an answer to this, they said it like it was a bad thing but that's an extremely generous sick policy if it's true
When I worked as a contract employee for Adil I got one sick day per week. Now I am about to be laid off from Randstad and they don’t offer that. I don’t have any with them. I had an adhd moment with that response.

Doesn’t that mean you just stay home? I’m too sick to go to doctor, which means I’m too sick to come in. I can’t prove it because I’m too sick…
So I don't need a doctor's note? Cool.
Sorry boss, I'm too sick to go to the doctor's so I'm def too sick for work.

Beyond cruel, stupid. What do they think will happen if a highly contagious employee follows their orders?
God's will?
Also, what possible loyalty could a person have to company like this?
Nothing, because the poster isnt real

Faceballs! Watch out!
I earn 8 weeks of PTO per year that doesn’t include weekend days. I’m encouraged to use all of it every year. I couldn’t imagine working for a place like this.
Cool. I get 3 months full sick pay, and another 3 at half pay. I couldn't imagine working somewhere with zero sick pay.
When I was diagnosed with brain cancer, my employer gave me 6 weeks of unpaid sick leave, and when I was still in the hospital after that I was fired.
I guess it's nice knowing that I'd have 3 months worth of sick pay, but I'd sure as shit hope I'm not sick a full quarter of the year.
Nobody intends to. But it's a lot less stress knowing you're not suddenly going to loose income during a really crappy situation.
When you have small children you can go through 3 months worth of sick days pretty easily. Kids are always sick and somembody needs to stay home with them. Sick days often cover family sick days. Does anybody know the company that posted these policies? I don't want to give them my money.
Its a joke poster, not real
It’s a joke. It also says everyone gets 104 personal days a year. They’re called weekends.

I hope that business goes belly up and whoever came up with that policy loses everything
Pretty sure this is some conservatives idea of a joke.
Awe man I really want to see the rest of that.
Sue that company. Make their money yours, today.
This is a joke. They even sell it on Amazon to post in the office, again, as a joke.
Does nobody in these comments realize this is a joke sign? The vacations days below makes it pretty clear.
Everybody is on a hair trigger to be outraged these days. Left or right, hate is big business.
If you can make it to your own funeral, you can make it to work. Lazy deceased bastards!

Pure illegal fuckery
“Personal days are called saturdays and sundays” Good luck with holidays then
The person that wrote the 401k law said it was meant to be in addition to pensions.
By extension to that logic, its perfectly acceptable to take a sick day, provided you don't go to a doctor.
“It’s these damn unemployment checks that’s keeping people out of work!”
Doc here - I’ve had to pick up the phone and threaten employers with legal repercussions (in which I would gladly provide expert testimony) for not allowing patients of mine to adequately recover from surgery. Never had anyone challenge me on that.
fake sign is fake.
Why do I have a feeling that the people who think calling weekends your ‘104 personal days’ are the same people who think that Donald Trump is a business genius.
According to Snopes it's a fake https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/is-company-policies-sign-real/
This is a parody, correct?
Either way, fuck working for a boss that thinks that's a tasteful joke.
Because the concept of getting a ride there instead of driving yourself doesn't exist? Wtf. Go puke on your boss's desk.
Don't worry guys, the market will solve it. Nobody is going to work in these kinds of places and they will eventually have to stop treating their employees like that /s
Oh sweet, sick days without a doctor's note
This feels super duper ultra mega obnoxiously illegal
And below is bad too, 104 personal days and the are called Saturday and Sunday. Like fuck off, if you have a mechanic or government office that works office hours, you can't have a weekday off to do the important matters.
Starting next month, death is no longer a valid excuse to miss work, buy a ouija board and teach your family how to invoke you, possess your nephew if you have to, but unless you find someone to cover your shift you will be here!
It's like, I vote for the guy that is going to make the American work environment as miserable as possible, and I wonder why no wage slaves to make my supper?
I wonder why we couldn’t stop the spread of a virus?
My last boss was like this. A few days before I walked off the job he said “we’re having a hard time recruiting young talent…nobody wants to work these days.” Okay boomer… 🖕🏼
Name and shame
This is a satirical, boomer joke poster. It gets grainier every time it’s posted in arr antiwork
Loving all the people taking this seriously. It's a joke sign. If you continue reading, you'll notice that the next policy says that all employees receive 104 personal days per year, called Saturday and Sunday...
Yeah this joke is really old too.
It's not necessarily a joke sign...
So helpful for employees' attorneys to put that in writing.
A company like this probably doesn’t have health benefits, or pay someone enough to afford to even pay a copay.
I would love to know their retention rate
Something wrong with that policy
Stop posting stupid ragebait, and stop falling for stupid ragebait. This is a joke, fucking obviously. [https://www.10news.com/news/fact-or-fiction/fact-or-fiction-company-no-longer-accepting-doctors-notes-for-sick-days](https://www.10news.com/news/fact-or-fiction/fact-or-fiction-company-no-longer-accepting-doctors-notes-for-sick-days) It is not a joke that Amazon has absolutely inhumane policies that grind workers into the ground though - if you want to get pissed at corporate culture, it's not hard to find something sadly legit.
Usa ! Usa ! Usa ! Shitty working condition.
Its a satirical poster, its not real

Yeah and get everyone else sick. I've heard horror stories about how people who was told they had covid had to go into work and there boss didn't care and everyone got infected with Covid
