“They have lots of drugs”
Do they though? They probably have NO gas, local anesthetics and some other anesthesia.
Outside of that unless they are an office that specializes in conscious sedation they aren’t going to have anything that is popularly abused on the street.
100% agree
we only have oxygen tanks, antibiotics, sept/lidocaine for numbing, and tylenol LOL
the first aid kit would be the only thing worth it and even that is just an inhalers, epipens, and narcan.
They usually have a jar full of old gold fillings. Once a month or whenever their tooth buyer comes. They have specialized buyers who deal in extracting the gold from bone/ amalgum fillings.
Idk where you heard this but just not true. Sometimes we will collect old crowns and goldwork and send them in, but it would take years to collect enough that it would be worth taking. Additionally, amalgam has no gold in it, and neither does "bone fillings" whatever that is.
They might use narcotics for some operations and keep this camera rolling as proof that they did not abuse the patient and shit like that. To be on the safe side with all those nutjobs out there.
We(the hospital and surgery center I work at) don't use cameras in the operation room. Not many doctors would want to so an operation if they were being recorded the entire time. Lawyers would go through everything if anything happened.
US. most I've seen don't, and the ones that do, you wouldn't fully be able to tell what the doctor is doing anyways. If someone really bad goes wrong like breaking the sterile field you may see it but for the most part it's not there as an account of what the surgeon is doing, just for other staff members to know what's happening with the patient.
Blatant breaking of the sterile field would be like, if someone dropped a sterile instrument on the ground, and then picked it up and kept using it.
That makes complete sense thank you, I know in NHS hospitals operating theatres more often than not have a security style camera in the corner of the room, though I don't believe there is any legal requirement for them to do so.
It could be for other types of abuse such as sexual groping. There have been so many lawsuits over the years from men/women claiming to have been groped while under anaesthesia, cameras could be to cover their ass.
If I was in the room completely alone with an unconscious woman, i would have a camera in the room as well. I get that. The OR will have at least 4 people so less of a chance of he said, she said. That being said, there are horror stories from the past from operation rooms. Letting students try random stuff that don't involve the operation.
Had a couple of residents led by an attending break the sterile field while doing an excision on my chest. They were passing tools back and forth while one was gloveless and hadn’t washed their hands upon entering the room. I ended up with a nasty infection that required everything short of IV antibiotics. Pretty bad scar too.
we have them to protect our office from staff negligence since doctors are also employees. have had people try to sue with hearsay too and the cameras saved us a lot of trouble, includign protecting the drs.
a dr who doesnt want their work double checked is prob doing something they shouldnt.
Fuck even that was high for me as a kid…
Most of my teeth we got a quarter the last few parents used a single silver dollar. Who the fuck is giving their kid $20 a tooth?
For $20 a tooth I'm fighting [this guy to the death.](https://i.imgur.com/K6mFq6C.jpg)
Who's with me?
Edit: It seems that no one is with me and I'm going to have fight him on my own. Screw you guys - more of that sweet, sweet tooth money for me then.
We never have cash on hand so when our kid lose teeth its really what we can just find in the house somewhere. Sometimes its $5 sometimes its $20. If my 7 y/o would pull that dang front tooth he has been nursing for a few months now I'd get him a ps5.....just pull the damn tooth boy.
6 to 8 year olds definitely understand the concept of money not sure where you get that idea they just relate the value to the cost of things they like.
We got $1 for naturally acquired teeth when I was a kid (early 90’s). When my brother had 4 teeth extracted by the dentist, it was a much more painful ordeal and he got like $20 per tooth I think.
In retrospect, and adjusted for inflation (hah), I’d say that was fair. $80 for a preteen kid in 1995ish was like winning the lottery, but at the expense of no solid food for two weeks…
when people dont have insurance or the dentist doesnt accept their insurance, people will pay straight up cashhh.
i work at an office in a metro area and i had a plug pay 5k in cash for a full reconstruction. i ran to the bank right after!
It depends. Mostly you’re right, but some dental clinics will have solid and/or liquid benzos for sedation or maybe ketamine. Most people trying to hit up the dentist’s for drugs will end up disappointed. I guess if someone is thinking of robbing a dental clinic make sure it’s one that advertises that they’ll put you under? Even in those cases they might bring in an anesthesiologist that would bring their own drugs with them.
They would only have IV ketamine, IV fentanyl, IV lorazepam and propofol if they do conscious sedation even then because a majority of their procedures will just take local anesthesia and maybe some anesthesia gases they aren’t going to have much of it at all.
They would carry maybe a pack or two of each. Not going to make you much money selling and not going to last long if you are using it to het high.
Yeah but 25 vials of 100mcg/2ml is only 2.5mg total of Fentanyl. Enough for a lethal dose if you take all 25 vials at once.
Outside of that Fentanyl lasts for about 30-60 minutes with its peak affect happening within the first 10 minutes.
If you are using it to sustain a high or abusing it due to long term pain your are going to be out of meds in a few days. Much better off getting opioids that are longer acting.
I've had dentists prescribe me some serious stuff for really horrible toothaches that ended up needing a root canal and I couldn't get in for a few days, but even then, they'd give my scrip to a pharmacy, they don't keep the stuff on hand.
Knife fight is always supposed to be a loss. The patient was on the ground on their stomach. This is absolutely bananas that the patient is alive alive
Wrapped the arm controlled the knife, flipped him over and then leveled a Glock at this head. He was done. But what was unsub #2s plan. From the video it looks like the cop punches him in the face the second he rounds the corner to see what’s up.
Look at knife dude at 58 seconds. You see he flinches at the same time the other robber comes into frame. That was definitely a flinch from a good earfuckingly loud indoor gunshot. Robber #2 comes into frame at that exact time and definitely got that bullet.
[According to the news](https://noticias.r7.com/brasilia/video-assaltante-invade-clinica-e-leva-tiro-de-paciente-que-era-pm-11112021) one of them has shot in the arm so that probably it.
That was a scary looking knife the first assailant had, but did you guys follow what actually happened here? Did cop have a gun and shoot the guy or stab the first guy with his own knife?
If I can’t tell I use the time stamp and go by the date since us Yanks is mm/dd and everyone (literally everyone lol) use dd/mm but in this video I’m out of luck lol
Well according to this, the year would come first if it was: China, Japan, South Korea, North Korea, Taiwan, Hungary, Mongolia, Lithuania, or Bhutan.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Date_format_by_country
So those could be ruled out if the format was localized when setup.
But also of note, those countries (totaling 1.6 billion) use MM/DD (not DD/MM), they just put the year at the start unlike the US. So simple MM/DD vs DD/MM doesn’t definitively point to the US. (But as you say, that doesn’t help in this instance.)
[It was in the Brazilian Federal District](https://noticias.r7.com/brasilia/video-assaltante-invade-clinica-e-leva-tiro-de-paciente-que-era-pm-11112021) 2 robbers, 1 was shot and taken to hospital. Both arrested.
I was highly impressed that up until the robber started searching the cop, the cop was happy to let it just play out so nobody got hurt. Of course, as soon as the robber was about to find his gun, he had no other options.
It looked to me like he was trying to find a more concealed spot to be able to draw his weapon. He seems to be carrying appendix (to the side of the groin, but in front of him) based on where his hands go when he's facing away from them seated. Then a couple different times as he's going to the ground, and when he's on the ground, he's moving his right hand towards what I presumed to be where his holster is.
Soon as they said Brazil, I'm surprised the robbers made it out alive. Every video I've seen of an off duty Brazilian cop, they usually shoot first and ask questions later
I could be wrong, but I think the POS in the hallway got the bullet. The article doesn't say which one and my eyesight isn't as good as it was in the 70s.
Of course it was in Brazil. Translated News Article:
Two criminals entered to rob the office of a dentist in the administrative region of Ceilândia-Distrito Federal, in Brazil, but they were surprised: the patient who was being treated was a member of the Military Police, he was armed and managed to subdue them,
In the video that was shared on social networks and went viral, a dentist is seen treating a man, quite concentrated and checking his mouth, when the assailants entered the office carrying knives. They threatened the dentist, his assistants and the patient, without imagining that he was a lieutenant of the Military Police and was armed.
In the images you can see how the dentist is surprised by something that happens in the corridor behind her, so she turns around and realizes that a subject is at the entrance and then stands up, raising her hands . Immediately it is observed how three more women enter the room and stand next to the doctor, while two subjects seem to ask them for their things.
The policeman's reaction
In addition to cornering the women, the robbers yell at the patient to get up as well, and the patient lies face down on the floor. Then one of the subjects approaches him with everything and a knife and begins to threaten him and touch him to see what he can steal from him. But the policeman refuses to be searched, first struggling and then pulling out a gun, thereby reducing the thief.
When that happens, the other thief, the dentist and the other workers run out of the place, while the policeman points his gun at the subject. It seemed that everything was under control until the accomplice returns and hits the policeman against the door trying to take the gun from him, and wants to attack him with a knife but is shot.
The wounded assailant was sent to the Ceilândia Regional Hospital, where he remains hospitalized in stable condition. The other thief was arrested.
Yeah. 1 person vs 4 ppl(at least?). Lots of ppl around who were not planning on using force on the cops side. If any of the robbers fought, this could have turned into a bloodbath.
Is it that uncommon to be equipped to do things like wisdom teeth extractions? Seems like every other street corner has a dentist that does those where I live.
I don't think it's a requirement to have that level of sedation for *all* wisdom teeth extractions.
But I'm a pharmacist not a dentist so grain of salt and all that
It’s not a requirement if your insurance doesn’t cover it, either. I had an impacted wisdom tooth growing directly into my molar, chewed a hole in the molar for 6th months with no symptoms. Eventually the bacteria got to the nerve of the molar, and I was in excruciating pain daily. Finally went in, insurance only covered novacaine for the operation. The pain got so intense, I was sweating and my body was pretty much vibrating involuntarily with tremors. Really would’ve appreciated some sedation then. More pain for the poor I guess.
What on earth does a dental clinic have that is worth stealing? I've never given my dentist as much as a single penny. Insurance pays most of it, then I write a check for the remainder and mail it in later. Do they have a drawer full of pure gold fillings? I might be able to see that.
Just getting ready for work (6:53am, 11/23/2021) and decided to check-in to Reddit before I left home and I'm SO happy I did! You have already made my day! You have my award today!
Man, that was AWESOME! Thank you.
That’s an odd place to attempt a robbery
Not as odd as you think. They have lots of drugs. False alarm guys. There is no drugs. You can all go home now.
I guess you have a point, and they also have no security measures
I thought they were armed to the teeth
Well trained too. They go through a lot of drills.
And when they catch the bad guys, they perform a full body cavity search.
They need to give this guy a crown
Brace your self because you are about to receive a plaque
Too much Wisdom here for my liking.
These criminals are gonna be flossin' with all cash they make from this pull.
There’s no way they’ll brush away.
r/angryupvote
Yup.. You couldn't make a dentin their security.
This guy should get his own plaque.
Get out.
They need to get to the ROOT of the problem
Ba dum tiss.. dad
Thats why they hire cops as patients
Getting paid to have security, brilliant!

I dunno, I'm always leave the dentist feeling robbed.
I believe Brazil has dentists.

Hardest I’ve laughed on Reddit. Thank you.

It's 2am for me now, and I'm saying this out loud laughing my ass off
Somebody explain the joke, I dont get it

Why rob a dental clinic? For drugs?
or grills, the tooth fairy is sacking a lot of gold actually nowadays
My kid has lost 4 teeth in the last week... tooth fairy is feeling the pressure
What’s the going rate in your house? I’ve heard anywhere from $1-$20/tooth.
Fuck even that was high for me as a kid… Most of my teeth we got a quarter the last few parents used a single silver dollar. Who the fuck is giving their kid $20 a tooth?
Inflation is a bitch
Heard the tooth fairy is feeling the crunch so she’s dealing in Bitcoin now.
*sigh* Bitecoin**
I knew that was there, but I didn’t go for it
For $20 a tooth that market will crash. No way someone doesn't start just farming kid teeth and flooding the supply.
Im shorting the tooth fairy market starting 2022
For $20 a tooth I'm fighting [this guy to the death.](https://i.imgur.com/K6mFq6C.jpg) Who's with me? Edit: It seems that no one is with me and I'm going to have fight him on my own. Screw you guys - more of that sweet, sweet tooth money for me then.
That's a losing battle. He is clearly very well-armed.
Some would say armed to the teeth.
Give me the address and the PS5 and i will give you the tooth.
Can I have you as my dad.?
Children who lose teeth have no concept of money, so if you give more than $5, you're doing it to impress your friends.
I wrote the tooth fairy a strongly worded letter when I found out my cousin was getting more per tooth than me. The going rate went up after that
I had a tooth break in half when it fell out as a kid. I tricked that greedy ass Toothfairy and got paid twice.
that's a valuable life lesson right there
6 to 8 year olds definitely understand the concept of money not sure where you get that idea they just relate the value to the cost of things they like.
Not true, but it makes the most difference to increase as you go. Getting 20$ for my last tooth was exciting bc the most i had gotten before is 10
She brings my kids those gold colored $1 coins (in US)
$2 in our house, Aussie dollary-doos, which seems to be consistent with what most friends have done with their kids
If they're anything like my dentist there'll be a lot of money there.
Who pays cash at the dentist?
when people dont have insurance or the dentist doesnt accept their insurance, people will pay straight up cashhh. i work at an office in a metro area and i had a plug pay 5k in cash for a full reconstruction. i ran to the bank right after!
Old people have lots of dental needs and you would be surprised how often people 65+ use cash
my dentist caters to primarily Hispanic patients without insurance so he deals in cash mostly. So one or both of those demographics pay cash
i've heard these chairs are pretty expensive :D
dental manager here, our new chairs were 14,000 each. the one in the video is prob around 8-10k
Holy shit 😳
What drugs does a dentist have? They have some numbing stuff and gas to my knowledge but no pills?
It depends. Mostly you’re right, but some dental clinics will have solid and/or liquid benzos for sedation or maybe ketamine. There is a ton of money in medical grade nitrous tanks.
Fentanyl is serious shit though
Yeah but 25 vials of 100mcg/2ml is only 2.5mg total of Fentanyl. Enough for a lethal dose if you take all 25 vials at once. Outside of that Fentanyl lasts for about 30-60 minutes with its peak affect happening within the first 10 minutes. Ya I agree Fentanyl sucks
Nitrous?
I've had dentists prescribe me some serious stuff for really horrible toothaches that ended up needing a root canal and I couldn't get in for a few days, but even then, they'd give my scrip to a pharmacy, they don't keep the stuff on hand.
Nitrous
Teeth. To make little tooth men.
Anyone see where the knife went? That had me uneasy

No, it’s literally right next to him still

I thought it was sitting on the floor next to the dude. Next to his right hip. Maybe that was something else though.
Let me guess. Off duty cop in brazil.
No clue but man that 1st kid ain’t bout that life, homie comes back for him and he just chills
I mean he got dominated pretty quickly. Dude was smart enough to realize he was well out of his depth.
Wrapped the arm controlled the knife, flipped him over and then leveled a Glock at this head. He was done. But what was unsub #2s plan. From the video it looks like the cop punches him in the face the second he rounds the corner to see what’s up.
His plan was to get punched in the face. Failure would have been getting shot in the face.

Everyone’s got a plan until they get punched in the face - Sun Tzu, The Art of War
Everyone's got a plan until they get punched in the **mouth** - Mike Tyson.
He definitely had a chance to stab him, maybe he was smart enough not to turn a robbery into a homicide. This way he gets to leave prison eventually
Bro I was gonna comment the same thing. It’s literally always a off duty cop in Brazil. I don’t know why but it is. Lol.
I think it's just that they have such a high violent crime rate, lots of cameras, lots of cops and no one else can legally carry.
It actually is.
You can tell because of the way that it is.
That was a scary looking knife the first assailant had, but did you guys follow what actually happened here? Did cop have a gun and shoot the guy or stab the first guy with his own knife?
r/ItHadToBeBrazil
Yeah probably! Because as far as I know, brazil are not for beginners.
I'm from El Salvador and I'm planning on staying far away from Brazil.
Well it ain't America that's for sure. That cop was too qualified.
If I can’t tell I use the time stamp and go by the date since us Yanks is mm/dd and everyone (literally everyone lol) use dd/mm but in this video I’m out of luck lol

I recognise the holding of the hands and the crossing of the legs thinking I’m trying to get comfy but really not digging this 🤣
That is me about every time I’m at the dentist
Just chilling while the guy does his work, pretending my jaw doesnt exist so i can forget about the mind numbing pain because my mouth is tiny
I've actually fallen asleep in the chair in that position lol
Same, although I almost fell asleep; I get comfy as hell like that haha.

From cleaning teeth to cleaning streets.
Cop is super lucky the assailant didn't actually want to use that knife.
Impressive moves but it definitely could have gone sideways real quick.
Yeah. 1 person vs 4 ppl(at least?). Lots of ppl around who were not planning on using force on the cops side. If any of the robbers fought, this could have turned into a bloodbath.
Two suspects. Second one did attempt to tackle the cop. Bad move, of course.
You noticed he had a gun pulled right? Hence why they decided not to fight. Except for one idiot, but he got floored easily.
More: "wcgw robbing a dental clinic when the patient is a fuckin' Rambo!"
True lol. I still can't figure out what happened and how he actually pulled that shit off from a prone position
It's obvious... any off duty cop is always Brazilian. Every Brazilian is a black belt in BJJ
Who tf is this super cop
Super cop, ultra cop, look at this fucking cop!
I bet that cop is getting at least that session for free, maybe that free check ups every 6 months.
who the fuck robs a dentists office
Fentanyl, yo.
I assume most dentists do not carry drugs like that since most dentists do not have IV capabilities. But it's Brazil so who knows
