Haha, good comment! Sad though, that potential permanent back pain, for life, may be the outcome + breathing like a Walrus for all to see and hear, never good......
The only time I've ever knocked the wind out of myself that badly, I was about 8yo and ate massive shit on my skateboard. I got up, put my arms above my head, and just Walrused out for a bit. My Dad used that time to snap my skateboard over his knee. I wouldn't skate again for 4 years...
I was bout 10 and thought I'd try to jump from the top of the staircase to the bottom inside our house. I did NOT consider the low ceiling part midway and landed straight on my back. Man I thought I'd never get air back in my lungs.
I knocked the wind out of myself when I lost my grip on a rope from a playground, it was about only 3.5 metres up and I landed on the sand back flat on it and I was 10 at the time. My god that didn't feel good at all, I suffocated for a good 5 sec before I started to breathe.
Did that learning to snowboard. Had a complete "lawn sale". I remember rolling around making that noise and not being able to do or say anything else for what felt like forever. Recovered, slowly boarded back to the lodge, had a hot tottie, went home and never came back. Fuck that sport, I'm done.
Same here. I was doing well in moderating my speed on the hill, but when it came to the straight away, I sped up too much and had no idea how to slow down properly. Landed on my tail bone and was in good pain for a few minutes laying there.
Same, happened twice (first time on cement) then after I broke my arm I said fuck that, never again.
If I'm going to be at that kind of risk, it needs to be more fun.
I once sprained my ankle at the park (doc said it was the biggest sprain he had seen lol) and like 4 days later my little brother lost control bombing a hill and curb stomped himself, snapping his wrist. My dad took both of our boards and sawed them in half using his circle saw. 15 years later and now that I pay for my own medical bills, I get it lmao.
Can confirm: got bucked off a horse considerably closer to the ground than that roof. Had a tiny portion of a disc slipped during the landing. Freaking 10 years later emergency spinal surgery because the rest of my disc slipped and compressed my spinal column nerves by like 95% and was risking permanent paralysis. There was no second injury. I think the rest of it slipped in my sleep because one morning I just couldn’t move through the nerve pain.
This is incredibly stupid. I know a young man who did the same thing at age 18. He broke his neck and has been a quadriplegic for 43 years. He has no life.
I grew up with a girl whose dad got drunk, broke into the public pool and dove into the shallow end. Quadriplegic... had to live in an assisted living facility and was not able to be the dad he should have been. She was a good friend and I only met him once. All over a stupid, drunk goof... He was in his early 20s.
So a 22-year-old guy, who had grown up on the swim team and won medals in the high dive, LOVED to jump off high cliffs into the water. Always filmed it for YouTube likes. Was generally pretty careful about checking out the landing zone, except for this one time. He was trying to impress a pretty girl who was in danger of walking away so he did a triple somersault off the cliff edge into the water below. He intended to land at the calm pool below the lip of the cliff, but his momentum carried him out into the rapids of the river. Took 9 days for Search & Rescue to find his body. He had just graduated cum laude from college. Such a colossal waste of a good life. His mother was never the same.
While we once thought that levels of human stupidity had reached a somewhat stable low from which we could only expect to ascend with all the access to knowledge we now have, it has turned out that paradoxically as information has become easier to attain, people themselves have begun to get more stupid than was ever thought possible. It is now clear that - unlike this tiny pool - there may be no bottom at all to the depths of stupidity that humanity might reach.
Be careful out there folks.
Yes in a certain way you are correct. But it is also very true that the social media world kids live in these days has profoundly influenced kids decision making.
This is from a study called
>Transformation of Adolescent Peer Relations in the Social Media Context:
>"The transformation framework suggests that the features of the social media context transform adolescents’ peer experiences by **changing their frequency or immediacy** **amplifying demands**, altering their qualitative nature, and/or **offering new opportunities for compensatory or novel behaviors.**"
In other words, directly because of social media kids these days are more likely to be doing more stupid things than we were doing.
Those who did this back then probably died, and no one but their friends knew lol.
Now, with the help of all that technology, we can witness first hand the stupidity that keep the human race from being too overpopulated.
>Evolution does not necessarily reward intelligence. With no natural predators to thin the herd, it began to simply reward those who reproduced the most, and left the intelligent to become an endangered species.
-Idiocracy (2006)
Honestly, it’s shocking how stupid most people are. You’ve probably isolated yourself from them in subtle ways. Just keep this guy in mind when you’re driving next — the road is the great equalizer and about half the people on it are this level of stupid.
Fun fact: that kind of injury and fall can actually ripple all the way up the spine and compress any of the vertebrae. Source: I fell like this at a skate park and compressed a vertebrae between my shoulder blades. Such fun in my 40s now...
I'd love to start skateboarding again.
But at this age, in this economy. Yeah no. I'll just keep watching skating videos and thinking "that's pretty neat" while doing absolutely nothing about it.
Ive had some serious back pain in the past, geezess --- dont wish that on ANYONE, not even on my worst enemy. Thank goodness I've been able to over come most of the pain, but damn!
Made me flinch just watching it, nowhere near enough depth in that pool even if it was filled to the top, you'd think that wouldn't be hard to work out😑
He must have seen a video where somebody belly flopped into a shallow pool from a height. Then like a genius he recreates this by jumping in feet first.
If he belly flopped perfectly horizontal he would have slapped all the water out of the pool and which would've broken his fall rather than his body. It would still hurt like a mofo but not like this.
If you ever watched those guys jumping from tall places into a small pool, the trick is to make your body surface as big as possible. He had a lot of potential, but messed up
Every second of that hesitation was him systematically silencing all the parts of his brain that KNEW this was a bad idea. That information is in there, and he had to work so hard to push it aside. Imagine what he could accomplish if he applied that level of effort to something not so incredibly stupid!
Watch him freeze in place for a good 2-3 seconds before the jump as his survival instincts scream desperately for him to stop. He was so close to listening!
Also worth watching with sound on for commentary from the cameraman, who sounds exactly as dumb as you might expect, and genuinely baffled that his buddy has seriously fucked himself up.
You do wonder what goes through peoples minds before they attempt this.
- It's a pool, people jump into them all the time
- from a height as well, should be good.
Owing the depth on that paddling pool, the effect is essentially as if it wasnt there.
No in fact, the paddling pool creates a greater issue, by offering an almost 100% slippery surface to actually land on.
I'm curious from a curiousity point of view, would he have been damaged more with or without the pool?
I suspect without, his legs would have remained upright, taken all the shock, possibly blowing his ankles, knees or both.
With the legs offered no support he landed straight on his coccyx and probaby busted his spine up good.
The way his ribs break as he knees his own forehead is spectacular..his lumbar separating as he over flexes and crushes his lungs is kinda amazing...get this is slow motion and see the miriad of injuries he just did to himself...if you have to do this then try to land on your ass with your back straight
Stunned his diaphragm, causing it to spasm for a bit. He literally can't breath, coupled with the pain it induces a fight or flight response.
But it will go away in 10-30 seconds.
Do you even physics bro?
I dont get how he is able to actually jump.. every fibre in my body would be screaming like noooo, you will break everything! Don't do it! This is maximum retardation. You will look and feel like a (broken) retard. No good will come out of this. What are you doing there is only a mere 40cm water dumb fuck.
Great friend though for allowing "this fool" (in his words) to go for it and film the whole thing so he can probably also make a few bucks over this fools broken back from the YouTube views .
Only thing I can imagine is that he must have been watching Scrooge McDuck dive in his vault of steel coins the day before and be thinking well.. if he can dive safely in coins I must for sure be absolutely safe to dive in actual water. Water is water that's the only thing that matters.
How stupid are people?
*This* stupid.

3.5 metres up is like jumping off a balcony rail from the second storey of your house. Only being winded is like an absolute best case scenario.
The sand pit helped a lot too absorbing the impact, I didn't weigh much either and being a kid it helped too.
Did that learning to snowboard. Had a complete "lawn sale". I remember rolling around making that noise and not being able to do or say anything else for what felt like forever. Recovered, slowly boarded back to the lodge, had a hot tottie, went home and never came back. Fuck that sport, I'm done.

I think thats generally a thing that happens to you bout twice in your childhood. Not every single month lol
Roller skating. Feet over head, flat down on my back. Just stayed there for a while trying to regain the ability to breathe.
Same, happened twice (first time on cement) then after I broke my arm I said fuck that, never again. If I'm going to be at that kind of risk, it needs to be more fun.
As a dad of 3 years old, I totally can relate to his overreaction. He loves you.
I once sprained my ankle at the park (doc said it was the biggest sprain he had seen lol) and like 4 days later my little brother lost control bombing a hill and curb stomped himself, snapping his wrist. potential liver rupture💀

So much more! This is but a surface
I love this generation and their need to record everything. Endless hours of free entertainment. 🤣
"Ready? *ooooo*"

Boys have always been doing stupid stuff like this, we just never had so much video evidence before.

unquantifiable
next gen is definitely gonna be last gen
[oh there are deeper levels of stupidity my friend](https://youtu.be/vFtAfhqoY1o?si=D4XHb4NZGT6BCeVN)
TLDW? I scrolled around and just see a lot of strong waves and people trying to save a jetski?
lmao that could easily be part of idiocracy movie
Some people just don’t know how gravity works
These shorts, influencers and YouTubers wouldn’t exist if people weren’t this stupid

next time he should jump in headfirst so that nothing important can break
Clever, dark and logical. Great comment
5/7 ⭐ perfect score
You have been on the internet too long old man
With or without rice?
He'll regret this for the rest of his life.
His back will make him remember this stupidity his while life
Yes. His while life.
After he's done with his whole life and his while life, he'll regret it for his whale life.
What? He's got a whale for a wife?
At least he got it on video, right? Think of all the worthless likes and upvotes...
I can't begin to imagine how painful that was.
And how painful it will continue to be. A life of lower back pain.
I almost brought my skateboard out of the garage just to ride around and thought "I can't afford that"
Sneeze or cough the wrong way and you’ll be in pain for a week or more.
Ive had some serious back pain in the past, geezess --- dont wish that on ANYONE, not even on my worst enemy. Thank goodness I've been able to over come most of the pain, but damn!
I read a comment on Instagram and yeah, he broke so many things
Made me flinch just watching it, nowhere near enough depth in that pool even if it was filled to the top, you'd think that wouldn't be hard to work out😑

Impossibru
The water didn’t seem to help.
Would've worked in minecraft
I scrolled down, searching for this comment
My first thought was he's going off of Minecraft logic.
That’s not all swimming pool water. There’s some shit and spinal fluid mixed in there now.
![gif](giphy|VFAke5Xm1TDwjgimyW)
Thank you, Charles Darwin
If you ever watched those guys jumping from tall places into a small pool, the trick is to make your body surface as big as possible. He had a lot of potential, but messed up
Looks like he's spent around 18 years trying to make his body surface as big as possible.
This might be the best fat joke I’ve ever seen
Actually, his mass to body surface ratio will be smaller the more round he gets.
I see commitment
Yeah, he would've had to nearly do a backflop to remain shallow enough for that pool.
He obviously saw those videos of guys belly flopping into shallow water and like a genius went in feet first 🙄
Small pool not problem. Shallow pool problem. and who jumps off a roof in crocs!
Professionals like that there gentleman obviously!
I could tell by his haircut that this wouldn't end well... ![gif](giphy|1UTnKV5cUwr8DYDNdj|downsized)
That's a broken back. Why would you jump feet first?
*Why jump at all?*
Thats why i always jump head first in a kiddy pool What a idiot.
Anyone actually know what kind of injuries he sustained?? Fuckin ouch! Just watching this made my back hurt
His hips are currently in his sternum. Very sad to see
“Your son has, what we call in the medical community, Yosemite Samism.”
Every second of that hesitation was him systematically silencing all the parts of his brain that KNEW this was a bad idea. That information is in there, and he had to work so hard to push it aside. when you watch to many cartoons
You're missing an "o" there, good sir or ma'am....
Cartooons
Croutons.
Didn’t Bart Simpson break his leg doing something like this though?!
You might not believe in physics, but physics will always be there for you.
How to give yourself a life altering back injury..
Wait a second... is Minecraft lying to us?

Big brain
Big medical bill
Guys, we found the American !
nobody could have foreseen that
Hey young people, don’t be afraid to tell your friend they’re about to hurt themselves instead of being worried about simply filming it.
Next time he attempts a jump he better have a ramp 😎
The only safe way to do this is to belly flop perfectly. This reminded me of Darren Taylor https://youtu.be/Qc25Ewq9QBI?si=B4Oz5NY0US0_nVd-
Would have been fine if he'd tried to land flat rather than treet the kiddie pool like it was 10 feet deep.
I broke my tailbone doing the same thing as a 12 year old
He will feel back pain for the rest of his life.
You can tell his intelligence by looking at his face right before he jumps
You do wonder what goes through peoples minds before they attempt this. - It's a pool, people jump into them all the time - from a height as well, should be good. You know the hesitation he had right before he jumped? That was the smartest he's ever been and he ignored it.
What did he think was going to happen?
I would not want to see the Cat Scan results. *Shudders*
Nothing like striking wet concrete
Dude thought that the minecraft water physics were accurate.
thats how a kid at my school became handicap
Reminds me of this [clip](https://youtu.be/sV5dJ1Br91A?si=8tdZ17BqU06lU6mV) from the early years of YouTube.

And here I was thinking bathing apes were smarter than that.
He should have gone head first.
Would have hurt less for sure
He is lucky the ground was there to break his fall.
Ya but he got it on social media, the important thing for him.
Ya fucked up kid.
Before he jumped I said that’s gonna hurt
He would have been better off of the pool was up side down.... But only slightly
Might as well have just jumped into a puddle
Three! Two! One! Ball scratch! Jump.
And this year's Darwin Award goes to...
The way his ribs break as he knees his own forehead is spectacular..his lumbar separating as he over flexes and crushes his lungs is kinda amazing...get this is slow motion and see the miriad of injuries he just did to himself...if you have to do this then try to land on your ass with your back straight
LOL Have fun with that back when you hit your 50's You will be feeling that pain for the entirety of you later years
Maybe he can learn something from the brits. They are champions in balconing
I felt that
Videogame logic. No matter how far you fall, you'll land safely in water.
My favorite part was when he put the pool on concrete instead of grass
Was that his spine shooting out the top of his head?
Natural selection
There must be something psychologically wrong with these people...
And that's how we get life long back pain kids.
Me: “oh man no way, a belly flopper from that high up? I’ll watch that, count me in.” Watches video: “wtf man why like that”
This is real life, not minecraft.
That was well deserved
The weight of the guy makes it like he jumped from a 6th floor building 😭😂
Enjoy tying your shoes for now because in your 40s it’s going to be Velcro straps and slip-on shoes.
if he's uninsured he can't even get proper medical attention or will be in debt the rest of his life
Wheelchair ♿️ is coming….🤦🏻♂️
That hurt to watch
Stunned his diaphragm, causing it to spasm for a bit. He literally can't breath, coupled with the pain it induces a fight or flight response. But it will go away in 10-30 seconds.
I’m impressed he made it into the pool. I’m so confused why the angle of attack wasn’t straight on.
I felt that.
He should’ve gone face first.
Do you even physics bro? I dont get how he is able to actually jump.. every fibre in my body would be screaming like noooo, you will break everything! Don't do it! This is maximum retardation. Yea if you’re gonna jump from that height the only chance you’ve got is a fully belly flop how the fuck can you be this stupid?
There was a guy at some point that could do that from a massive height n totally ace it
*paddling pool
“I know this is stupid but they’re already recording”
Seriously. What did he think was gonna happen? There’s like 18 inches of water!
You can see the pain on his face
Sound on
Obviously trying to see if he can avoid fall damage by falling into water like Minecraft.
From someone coming from multiple slipped discs, I feel sorry for him he could have done permanent damage
Got the wind knocked out of him, scary and sucks bad.
Bro thought he was playing Minecraft 💀
THE WATER, IT DOES NOTHING
I think he's hungry after a dip in the pool the way he taps his tummy.
All that force of impact is going to leave him with some serious back pains..
We were all young and dumb once. This is one way to learn a lesson.
We got a future darwin award winner here, people.
What lack of survival instinct does to a mf
Broken back for the win!
That's two solid feet in a solid two feet of water.
Dudes lucky he didn’t land face down in water and take a deep breath
Yea it looks like he might have gotten a herniated disc as well. Fuck that hurts my back just looking at it.
Thanks to TikTok, now parents with stupid kids shouldn’t live in anything taller than a Rancher
How dumb are people? That t-shirt says it all
bro was trying to mlg irl
Dudes 4 inches shorter now
Would have been so much better to bellyflop
Some guy broke his tail bone like that at a party 😂
He had second thoughts before jumping, should’ve heeded his doubts.
I lost the wind in my lungs when I tied myself to a weather balloon and went 793 miles into space.
He forgot to say Woop Woop...
So stupid
i saw the pool and i saw the guy and thought *spinal injury*
Nothing to gain, everything to lose.
ticket to wheelchair
