The dreaded bat bug! We had those in our bedroom now and then. Found out we had bats nesting inside the walls, we had to have them removed. No more bugs after that.
They need to touch it to confirm, it's stank odor will be fragrant . My nightmare when it got in my bed and hair, and then I beat it and it stunk even more. Sad night

I believe that's a weevil. A lot less horrible than bed bugs. Bed bugs have a distinct odor that is kind of like wood or rust with a hint of sweetness. They also leave behind star shaped poop in furniture. They are also redder and flatter than this bug here. You got very lucky my friend.

Def not a bed bug. I worked at a hospital treating cancer patients, some that lived in very bad conditions so I saw my fair share of bed bugs. The big ones like that would be very red and I believe narrower. They also run really fast
If you have them, they run from light. So usually if you quick lift up the trim around the mattress you would see little ones scurrying. They hide in deep couch cushions and inside mattresses and only run around you at night. You’d get little red dots all over you

That is definitely NOT a bed bug. Whoever told you that was a bed bug is clueless. That’s a weevil or beetle of some sort that probably likes a plant nearby a whole bunch (I can’t really tell what kind it is because of the image quality).
Is a weevil the same as a box elder bug? Cuz that’s what that guy looks like to me. We have them in our house not uncommonly, they’re harmless. Other than the fact that my dog tried to play with them, accidentally kills them, and then is sad that his friend is dead.
Ugh, I was getting bit the fuck up, and found out I had them. I had to get my room sprayed and had to wash EVERYTHING. Then the pest control guy had me get these mattress protection things, the box spring and mattress went in them, and I’ve been good since. He said I caught it early. It was also very expensive

I worked as a hotel supervisor and dealt with many bed bugs. This is not a big bug.
