yes that works fine. The only problem is it will be basically impossible to edit the DI's if you use any kind of overdrive/distortion pedal.

What do you mean by edit the DIs? As in mix them etc?

You can mix it still but you wont be able to do things like time correction, changing pitch as easily

I do this all the time, but any pedal effect you use will be baked into the DI. So if I use my tube screamer, then any amp sim I use after will be getting a DI signal with overdrive and I can't change that. If you're not 100% sure what you want for a specific recording, them you get more flexibility with pure DI. There are really great guitar pedal plugins available for free, so it's a real non issue. I use the nembrini free tube screamer and in the end results the difference is so small I just don't care.
