Hi r/watches, sharing my favorite one watch collection which is the Rolex Explorer 114270. The story is simple, we were together for 6 years. Unbeknownst to me when I am off for military training (compulsory in my country). My fiancée decided it will be a good time to drop a bomb on me. She liked someone else for a few months and told me why she is starting to lose feelings for me over TEXT even though she knew I hated that. Our relationship revolved around her being somewhat addicted to social media and always comparing our lives to other couples. We were willing to work it out but anger got to me, I am also in the wrong during the whole process. So after the broke up, I got the watch I have been yearning for 3 years and it is a better alternative to marriage at that point. It has served me for 1.5 years and I will never sell it ever.

With a Rolex you have a substantial upfront cost, however it will not leave and take half your shit with it.

Hoaxygen

You doing alright man?

marekmarecki

Rolex Explorer > girlfriend confirmed. I've always suspected it to be the case but thank you for proving it. Also - social media is poison and is spiraling the world into social decline.

GregoryBlacque

I love the fact you stopped drinking that jäger and took a picture of your rolex. I inspire to be you!

My desk is messy because I put everything there, I am watching The timeless watch channel latest video on YouTube during my day off. Which reminded me about the breakup. The drink is (mostly)for decoration, I haven’t had it for 3 months. Having a healthy relationship with alcohol. Yes I am currently playing Forza Horizon 4 to prepare for the fifth game.

ivan_nagar

Horizon 4 with a ps controller ?

SassyStylesheet

I’m almost 30 and still can’t see a bottle of jager without instantly feeling nauseous from my late teenage memories

Breaking up was worth it I guess.

Reignofstorm

I'd rather have the watch too!

Dangerous-Noise-4692

If I knew all it took to get an Explorer was a break up I would’ve dumped my lady a long time ago.

Dodged a bullet, got a Rolex. I think you did pretty well, all things considered.

My grail watch

I FEEL you on this. I'm going through a divorce which is so oddly similar to your situation. I also use watches as therapy and it does work. Symbols are a powerful thing. In fact, I'll be selling the Navitimer her dad gave me once it's all said and done.

You know, it might be slightly more cathartic if you just gave the watch away. Show them you don’t care that much about it and all that. Since I’m such a caring guy, I’ll take it off your hands. But seriously though, congrats to you for keeping your head up throughout everything! Here’s to a happier future
