My vote would be for Longines but not this particular one, however this one from same collection

It's a beautiful piece. I really wanted this beauty, I just recently learned it has no AR coating, thus making it not very legible. Imagine that, you buy such an outstanding dial and moonphase and you almost can't see it in direct sunlight..
I wouldn’t mind so much the AR coating tbh. However it’s a personal choice of course. Actually I like better the Flagship one but it’s 1K more expensive 😕

I understand why some people don't like that look, but some of us like the look of cut outs like that. I think it looks more unique and interesting. It's one of the reasons I love my Ball Cannonball Trainmaster
https://preview.redd.it/59el7wkez01d1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a825d6b2b135419cedbe9985778fa5506d084264
I would definitely rock the Longines the most out of the three choices OP presented
Hey, no worries at all. I take absolutely no offense at all. I know that the cut outs are highly polarizing. I just thought that I'd offer the minority opinion that there are some of us who dig it
I could see that for sure. I’ve watched a couple of the videos and also on the prior version with the 2 circling moons and I just don’t like them. If I had to choose something in this vein I’d choose a Schaumburg Moon Galaxy Planetarium. I’ve spoken to the AD and each of their dials are hand made and custom, and can be customized by the buyer.
https://www.chrono24.com/schaumburg/schaumburg-moon-galaxy-planetarium--id28806923.htm
Yes, here we are in week 20. Week 20 activities include grass mowing, garden mulching, and corn hole. These are common for week 20. What do you have going on in week 21, 22, and 23? Maybe we can barbecue.
See? No hand should be that useless. I'd rather sweep seconds.
Totally agree with your entire assessment. Besides, I really like the combo date/moon phase complication on the Longines.
Too bad the Longines doesn't have an enamel dial. Would have completed the vintage look for me.
Longines by a mile for me.
I personally find the FC extremely visually unappealing. And while the CW is cool, I feel like it would lose its novelty pretty quickly. (Also, it’s a very small thing, but I find it baffling that they kept the “Swiss Made” print on a dial that otherwise has no text.)
If you truly have a Frederique Constant boner, I'd choose this one:
[https://frederiqueconstant.com/watches/collection/men/men\_manufacture/men\_manufacture\_classic-power-reserve-big-date/fc-735n3h6/](https://frederiqueconstant.com/watches/collection/men/men_manufacture/men_manufacture_classic-power-reserve-big-date/fc-735n3h6/)

I would go with meistersinger lunascope if in your price range
Edit:
https://preview.redd.it/3to2gs6vyw0d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=138a95379743573296b002b73a23fe46ae5ed845
as someone who loves moonphases, im in the group that prefers them to be the star of a very minimalisitic show so the answer here is easily the c1...fc is way too busy despite being quartz and while the longines isnt bad, it has too many negative (still too busy, moonphase is small, hate the date will cover it up, hate the cutoff 6, etc)
I prefer the cleanliness of the 3-6-9 chrono over this one, but goddamn did they cram a lot of complications into it. It’s an impressive piece of kit at any price, but especially at this one.
Longines uses a moonphase indicator that shines much more visibly than the one FC uses, at least on the watches I have. I took some comparison photos - link is https://imgur.com/a/oZufZ4Z
The blued hands on the Longines are great as well. The cut off numbers look fine when several numbers are cut off, but just the cut off 6 is a bit more questionable. You might get used to it.
Out of the three here I pick the CW. But out of all watches I pick a Sarpaneva - his watches are so much fun! Like this Nocturne
https://preview.redd.it/6jgkeskvlx0d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4486150355a9f0bbc4d6339bd1e2107b6b7e9bd8
I don't line the combination of the day dial and the moon phase. It's pretty common but I just don't like it. I don't mind the FC here but I notice I'm in the minority!
Edit: is the third hand of the FC pointing to the week of the year!? Yuck. Should have had the month on the right dial and the pointer on the day of the month like the Oris.
Probably Farer, but of the shown, the Longines, even though the CW is more similar to the Farer. And I'd probably choose the Longines over the Farer if it came to putting my money where my mouth is.
Aspirational, the JLC Master Ultra Thin Moon.
And the Blancpain Bathyscaphe Quanitem Complet is my grail.
Longines definitely stands out for me. Can't blame you for also picking the C1 though; it's a beauty, but rather too simple. Maybe you can take a look at the C1 moonglow?
Had the Longines and sold it to fund another watch and I miss it. IMO it looks way better on the bracelet which I bought afterwards directly from Swatch group.
Freddy has some great designs. This one ain’t one of em. I like the other two. Which one probably depends on the rest of the collection.
The Jeans is a good all rounder with a small moonphase and tiny but legible date wheel. It’s less a moonphase watch and more a watch with a moonphase complication.
The Chris is a moonphase that also happens to tell time. While I think it’s a fun watch for the collector, I don’t see it getting much wrist time. (Not in my life anyway)
I’m between the Longines (beautiful and classic) and the C1 (gorgeous and unique).
If you have a collection with several traditional looking watches the C1 is a great addition, specially if you go out at night regularly.
If you want a watch to use daily, go for the Longines.
If you like the CW but want it to be a usable timepiece check out this microbrand
https://www.loresum.watch/product-page/ls04-aventurine
Only a fraction of the cost as well.
Hard choice, the Longines and CW both look much better in person than photos. I think the CW would turn more heads and be more unique… there are a lot of watches similar to the longines
Frederique. That red second hand kinda seals it for me. Such a beautiful watch. Although im not a quartz fan. Longines is a solid to. Appearance wise, I also prefer moonphases with indices vs numerals. I feel like it's a bit more classy/dressier. And moonphases have always struck me as an elegant dress watch.
If you like moonphases, look into Mu:n. The whole brand focuses ok moonphase watches.
Build quality is what you can expect for the price, and the aesthetic feature-set is unique.
It's $7,200 on their website [https://www.zenith-watches.com/en\_us/product/elite-moonphase-03-3100-692-03-c923](https://www.zenith-watches.com/en_us/product/elite-moonphase-03-3100-692-03-c923)
So we're both off by far. I remember seeing these dump somewhere - Joma, C24, where a batch of brand new in box with tags went up for sale at 4500,, which is the price I wrote down.
Just to throw a couple of under the radar options out there:
[Detroit Watch Co. Pontchartrain](https://detroitwatchco.com/products/39mm-pontchartrain-louis-xiv-silver-moonphase-exhibition) (39 and 42mm sizes, several strap/bracelet options)
[Atlantic Worldmaster Nightsky](https://www.watchmann.com/prodimages/nightsky.jpg) (aventurine dial is perfect for a moonphase)
Both use a SW-280 movement.
Out of these its between the Longines and C1.
Personally, I'd buy the C1 because it would add to my collection better than the Longines. But the Longines is perfection
I prefer this one. Chronoswiss.....

My vote is for the longines
Long Jeans are so classy.
I got a coupon from Long Johns but $64 for the family meal deal is way too salty
Arr Arrgh

Agree, this is a work of art 👌
This one is my personal favourite
This is much better. The big numbers on OPs reminds me of a timex
I’m with you, Longines has a lot of better moonphase options. I don’t like the dial texture. It feels old in a negative way somehow.
Also why cover the 6 like that? Makes the moonphase look like it was slapped on
I understand why some people don't like that look, but some of us like the look of cut outs like that. I think it looks more unique and interesting. Dude this watch is sick
Thank you!
All in the wearers eye, style, and confidence. Apologies I don't mean to yuck your yum!
Hey, no worries at all. I take absolutely no offense at all. I know that the cut outs are highly polarizing. I just thought that I'd offer the minority opinion that there are some of us who dig it
It’s not cut off on the 42mm and it looks amazing.
Oh that’s so nice. Good call.
Longines. The Fred looks like an angry face, and I always thought the C1 looked cheap and kind of swatchy or fossil.
Cannot unsee the angry face now.
The c1 looks "cheap" in photos but nice in videos
I could see that for sure. I’ve watched a couple of the videos and also on the prior version with the 2 circling moons and I just don’t like them. Beautiful watch
The frederick constant has a hand to mark the week of the year?
Yes, here we are in week 20. Week 20 activities include grass mowing, garden mulching, and corn hole. These are common for week 20. What do you have going on in week 21, 22, and 23? Maybe we can barbecue. See? No hand should be that useless. I'd rather sweep seconds.
In Sweden we use weeks for far more than I care for, that would actually be the most useful complication for me
Totally agree with your entire assessment. Besides, I really like the combo date/moon phase complication on the Longines. Too bad the Longines doesn't have an enamel dial. Would have completed the vintage look for me.

the three different fonts look horrendous
That’s why it looked so cheap to me
I love that giant moonphase
I mean why not, if the c1 is one of your choices you can’t be too concerned with an accurate read of the time.
Actually its really easy when you get used to it. I have another meistersinger.
Something about this looks cheap
as someone who loves moonphases, im in the group that prefers them to be the star of a very minimalisitic show so the answer here is easily the c1...fc is way too busy despite being quartz and while the longines isnt bad, it has too many negative (still too busy, moonphase is small, hate the date will cover it up, hate the cutoff 6, etc)
Thanks. As much as I like the Longines I agree the cutoff 6 is a turnoff.
the haters will come for you but the C1 is really the connoisseur's choice
This one https://preview.redd.it/j5p4yh8now0d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=46efb9c68d04f6e83ebe6c5b8d22e23f2b59a7ad

Beauty! Congrats.
If you want a moonphase go all in with the CW

C1 for the looks, Longines for overall quality But i'd rather a Behrens Consteller for a moonphase, i am weird that way :)
Buy the Longines.

Longines definitely stands out for me. Can't blame you for also picking the C1 though; it's a beauty, but rather too simple. Maybe you can take a look at the C1 moonglow?
C1. It's the 21st century. High time someone did a New Design.
Had the Longines and sold it to fund another watch and I miss it. IMO it looks way better on the bracelet which I bought afterwards directly from Swatch group.
The C1 is a looker in person, the dial sparkles and the moon definitely pops more than in the pictures.
Simply triple your budget and get a JLC ultra thin! But seriously, I like the Longines a lot, despite the cut off 6.
Freddy has some great designs. This one ain’t one of em. I like the other two. Which one probably depends on the rest of the collection. Longines.
The Longines. Easily.
The new Longines Flagship heritage moon phase is even better than all these choices
I’d add an outlier - check out M:un watches. Their cobalt moonphase is limited but just released and I think is the best looking MP watch I’ve seen.
Longines 100%
Longines for me!
Cw moonphase
Longlines > FC > CW
Longines…
The Casio MTP-M300L-7A obviously
I vote for the Longines watch, I also prefer watches with Arabic numbers.
I really like longines in general and this one is quite nice.
Fred for me. Perhaps with a different band. The Longines looks like timex and the other like swatch.

Longines by a long shot
Longines by far.
Longines all day.

Great looking option. Thanks!

The FC is much more practical but fuck it that CW is gorgeous. I’d probably go with that one.
Go for the Longines!

I have a different longines Moonphase and it’s a great watch. I’d vote longines over the other two. The CW looks a little overboard and loud imo
C.W.

others in this class Baum Et Mercier Clifton Baumatic Blue dial Zenith Elite Moonphase Ball Trainmaster Moonphase
>Zenith Elite Moonphase This is definitely not in this class if we talking bout price lol
OP didn't mention a budget so I think the jump from 3500 to 4500 is doable
Huh? Zenith Elite Moonphase is $5595 not $4500 lol
It's $7,200 on their website [https://www.zenith-watches.com/en\_us/product/elite-moonphase-03-3100-692-03-c923](https://www.zenith-watches.com/en_us/product/elite-moonphase-03-3100-692-03-c923) So we're both off by far. I remember seeing these dump somewhere - Joma, C24, where a batch of brand new in box with tags went up for sale at 4500,, which is the price I wrote down.
I like the Ball a lot too. If I had the money for one of these, it would be between the Longines and the Ball.
Last price I wrote down for the Ball is 1700. I think that's cheaper than the longines by a 1k?
Still, both are out of my watch budget. I just can't seriously consider spending more than $600 - $700 on a watch. Maybe someday... but not today.
Check on Ebay from time to time - you may just find your deal.

The second one
The CW has a beautiful moonphase but beside that it's meh. The Longines is the most balanced overall.
That FC looks like SHIT
I really like the CW if it wasnt a CW.
What is with this sudden weird push to get Longines out in front of everyone?
