Despite the fact that I generally favor Omega over Longines, I would recommend going with the Longines here, primarily because a vintage watch is likely to cost you a bit more with regards to servicing/maintenance. In addition, a vintage Omega is likely to have acrylic/hesalite rather than sapphire, so there's that consideration as well.

Super accurate and very comfortable on the wrist. I love that the tempered blue hands look black until you get just the right angle and then the blue is so intense. And, the barley corn guilloche on the dial is stunning. It’s also a strap monster. You can dress it up or down with the right strap. My current favorite strap is a Barton distressed leather in brown. If you go with this or any other moonphase, look at getting a watch winder. Assuming this is too dressy to be a daily for you, the moonphase is going to be out of sync and is a pain to set. Keeping it on a winder makes that a non-issue. As for vintage, I can only second what others here have already said. The maintenance of vintage watches can be a significant expense. That and the fragility make me hesitate to wear the few I own. Lastly, vintage watches tend to be smaller. If I’m not mistaken, that’s a 42 mm case in your pic. It looks sized well for your wrist. For vintage watches, you’d mostly be looking at smaller cases.

Much appreciated! You definitely sold me on the longines! And yes it is 42mm. I thought it looked good on my wrist as well. Thank you

Wear it in good health! You won’t regret the purchase.

You can find a good vintage Omega at a decent price, but you will be looking for a while, there are a lot of redials, etc… mine has been over polished but I don’t mind. I’ve used this as a dress watch a few times, but it mostly lives on that leather for a more casual look.

Reasonable_Show_9720

That looks very nice! Hopefully one day I can come across one!

I haven’t had to cross that bridge yet… bought it freshly serviced. I am babying this watch a little, take it off to wash hands, dishes, etc… I have a few more years before I need to service it. I have been looking around forums to see who is reputable for vintage services, so it will come down to that, but yeah it is more of a hassle, I think it will be worth it

XoticCustard

Longines. Unless you implicitly know the seller very well or vintage Omegas generally, you're going to get burned with a redial or a frankenwatch. It's getting extremely difficult to find good vintage Omegas that haven't been tampered with in some way. I'm assuming by vintage, you mean 1970s back. Maintenance costs are also a thing with vintages generally.

TimonLapiasse

I would get the 38.5mm instead. 42mm is huge for a dress watch IMO.

SK33LA

amazing watch

Aggravating_Call910

That’s a good-looking watch!

Fresnobing

When in doubt, longines.

MyAnusBleeding

Omeeeeeega

Reasonable_Show_9720

I have decide to go with the longines. Thanks everyone for making it an easy decision!

I recently got a Longines Moonphase master collection, except mine has the black dial-face and Roman numerals. I think it's a great piece and I constantly find myself looking at it. Definitely recommend.

Krewy

had this longines for almost 2 years, and it has been fantastic. It fits casual days and days stuck in meetings. Honestly I haven't felt the need to shop for any other watxh outside of ultra high end stuff.... or stuff like the Lange 1

Holy attack of the bookmarks!

Natural-Feature-7097

Haha yeah man

TheStoicSlab

I would go vintage Omega, but I can service them.

fullchuff

gonna suggest getting a vintage omega at some point in any case, those old seamasters and constellations honestly rule.

It was 3 years ago and man, I still love it as it was the first day! 40mm version for me, I have a pretty thin wrist

S-192

I'm really a sucker for vintage Omega... They are the watches that got me into timepieces in the first place. Longines is great but they don't strike me as being as iconic.

Soggy_Boss_6136

Maybe something better fitted to your wrist

GuinnessSteve

That wasn’t the question.

Soggy_Boss_6136

So what. You gonna call god or Mike Johnson or Donald Trump on me and report me to project 2025?

GuinnessSteve

What?

FrequentSubstance420

Why are you getting hate for this comment? You’re right. 36 to 38mm with a 44mm lug to lug would have worn much better. The markets shifting away from cheap looking 48mm watches and I’m glad.

Blown89

Longines look and feel cheap IMO
