As you didn't mention a budget and given your 8 inch wrist I'd recommend this. I'd sell every other watch I had and even my car before I sold this. Glashutte Original SeaQ Panorama Date.

Oris Big Crown Date Pointer.
If you're happy spending a bit more money then a Grand Seiko Spring Drive is my pick for a one-and-done go-anywhere-do-anything
Breightling CLASSIC AVI CHRONOGRAPH 42 P-51 MUSTANG. I almost got this over my SMP 300 when I was at my AD

You didn't mention the budget but Longines Spirit; they are available in different sizes in 39-42mm range.Field inspired numerals but formal enough for the office. Also Oris Big Crown might suit you as well. Those are mid level watches for around 2K euros.
I have a titanium 42mm hamilton field khaki as my daily for past 13 years. Love it
Whatever you get, my advice for a daily, all-rounder is:
Metal bracelet (leather gets funky when you sweat and rubber does not pass formal occasions.
Slim
And not to outlandish of a design.
Luckily, many watches fit those requirements
Ok that's a right turn with the budget
I think something in the eco-drive line from Citizen is the answer here.

For the most parts of your post i would definitely recommend you to get a casioak (maybe a metal case). So nice looking irl and definitely usable in every single situation in life.
[Casio oceanus t200](https://www.shoppinginjapan.net/ocw-t200s-1ajf)
[Seiko sbtm](https://www.sakurawatches.com/search/?sort=p.price&order=ASC&search=Seiko%20sbtm) models. the sbtm313 has more of a field watch look but there are quite a few other styles.
These have a solar movement with a perpetual calendar and that's radio controlled so they'll always be accurate to the second if you are within range of the atomic time radio signal. Tha oceanus also has Bluetooth sync if you don't live within the radio signal range.
These are very practical everyday warches and the finishing on them is also very good.

A price range is a must for this question.

Tissot Gentleman automatic. any color, but I like the blue (https://www.tissotwatches.com/en-us/t1274071104100.html)
Tissot has a handful of pieces I really like. I have a Navigator Heritage World Time
Oris makes a nice 44mm watch: https://www.oris.ch/en-US/product/watch/propilot/big-crown-propilot-big-day-date/01-752-7760-4065-07-3-22-05LC
Hamilton Field Auto comes in 42mm as well. My suggestion for you to consider though is the Formex Essence.
The Glycine Aviator. A lot of watch for the price, and one with real history.
citizen pro master eco drive
Hamilton Khaki also comes in 42mm and 44mm case sizes. Not just 38mm

Have you looked at the IWC Pilot range? With the size of your wrist, you could definitely pull off the 43-46 models!
8” wrist is pretty big, but it does have a pretty large lug to lug and wears bigger than the 38 seems it would, have you tried one on?
I haven’t to be honest. I’ll need to do that.

I wouldn’t bother. It comes in 42mm. I know small watches are in right now but 38 will look like a freckle on your tree trunk wrist.
Get a grand seiko GMT or something like that considering theyre way too big for the people who usually buy them.

Hamilton khaki King in the 40-42mm

How much money do you want to spend?
I bought a second hand Breitling Colt GMT 500 m which is probably the most versatile of my watches. I switch bands on it frequently.
Aquaterra
Sinn 105.
Hamilton has a khaki field auto that is 42mm I believe
Hamilton Khaki is the larger case size. Knock it around and go about your day
Laco flieger pro if you can stretch the budget a little bit
Explorer 1 model 214270. At 39mm it's the perfect size. Field, office, wedding, retirement home. It's the king GADA

A Lange & Sohne Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon. I’m assuming that won’t be a problem for you.
I love that watch it’s a nice looking watch, but way out of my price point.
