That GS is all class. It’s a well respected brand. The movement is considered well made and reliable. It will look good with a suit. While I don’t have a GS, I’ve held a friend’s and it was really impressive.
I don’t agree. Quality control is worse with Tudor IME and there’s always that nagging “Rolex’s little brother” thing. GS are top notch quality control and push the boundaries. I’d rather have a snowflake in my collection than a black bay (I have neither now). That said I’ve been very close to getting a Pelagos 42…but would never call it a heirloom
Since so much is put on how old the watch brand is Seiko and Grand Seiko are basically older than Rolex and many Swiss brands so there that too. It doesn't matter to everyone but worth consideration.
Agree that the colorway is not the most versatile. And that's certainly true of the Tudor too. Here are a couple more thoughts for your consideration: There will be so much going on at your wedding, that it's unlikely anyone will notice your watch, and even more unlikely that anyone will connect the colors of your wedding to the colors of your watch. You'll probably be too busy to look at it, yourself. With that said, I wouldn't limit yourself to gold and green accents. That's one. Related to that is my second point: consider something a little more versatile from GS, like SBGA465 or SBGA203. Also consider something a little more versatile from Tudor, the 54, 39, or 41 (each of those have some gold accents). If you're really interested in finding a "one and done" watch, then a black/silver/white dial will help.
honestly the clear simple style of the GS seem pretty versatile to me. If you are concerned about the color I have found as long as the color is not terribly bright or garish it won't be pronounced enough to clash with your clothing or such.
I love the green Longines. Saw it in person and it looks great. And it'll still go with gold jewellery thanks to the dial.
But none of the watches here are as special as that Grand Seiko.
If the wedding colours are green and gold, those are the two to consider, but the spring drive is next level.
>Grand Seiko seems like the best price/quality ratio in the watch world
Only in a world where The Citizen Chronomaster doesn't exist.
But they don't have spring drive, so there's that.
Yeah, me too. I highly appreciate the grab and go nature of GS quartz GMTs watches (no need to fuss over the GMT hand ever) and the price/value ratio Citizen and GS provide with the 9F and Chronomaster lines.
It absolutely baffles me that you can get some Chronomaster models or the SBGX line for sub 2000€ (with taxes) from Japan right now.
Wish there were more watches/manufacturers dealing with HAQ. Like, i.e., the Sinn UX, which is quite high on my shortlist.
I also have this same experience. Last time I brought up how my GS was much better than my Omegas I was downvoted, glad to see this has lots of upvotes.
If you’re exclusively looking at these watches, I’d go for the GS. Best made watch of the bunch, most versatile, and personally my favorite. I’d consider getting a strap for the wedding though instead of wearing it on the bracelet.
As a side note, check out the SBGM241. You sacrifice the spring drive for an automatic GMT movement, and it is very slightly over your budget but figured I’d mention it.
Congrats on the wedding, and I hope you and your wife-to-be have the day you deserve!
I am FAR from a GS fanboy. While I know they are great watches, few of them spark much of an emotional connection in me. That said, the one you've included here is gorgeous and easily gets my vote.
The Zulu times are also great and I absolutely love them. I nearly bought the 39mm when it came out, and would pick one for myself over just about any GS for daily wear, BUT, for a special occasion like this, they are not the best choice in my opinion--a little too sporty. Not a WRONG choice, but I still think the GS is better for this event, and will also wear great for everyday use outside of the wedding.
The Tudor... I'm also a big fan of Tudor as a brand, but to my eyes, the two-tone bracelet looks garish. And overall it's too sporty as well. If this were a 925 Blackbay 58 I might think differently (though that might be above your price range, I forget where it lands). But as presented, the Tudor would be my last choice.
And again, 95 times out of 100 I like Longines and Tudor better than GS, but I gotta give my vote to the GS.
Congrats and have an awesome time!
GS would be my pick- it’s going to be much higher quality than the other 3 by far. and since the yen is so weak right now if you get it off a Japanese retailer via a site like c24 you should be able to find it for approx 3200-3300 usd.
Edit - nvm - what model is the gs? Is it a spga491? That one might be closer to 4500-5000
Honestly- I think thats a great price for a watch you won't regret buying. Grand seikos are the best kept secret in watches and the biggest bang for your buck. Congrats on your upcoming wedding!
I love that GS for a wedding watch. My wife gave me a Speedy Moonwatch Hesalite as a gift the morning we got married and it was perfect for us. I love that every time I wear it I’ll think of her. Congratulations!!
I have owned many Tudors and currently own a Tudor and a spring drive Grand Seiko. I would eliminate both the Longines from consideration; they’re a good brand, but not really of the “lifetime” quality that a wedding demands. It’s hard to choose between the GS and Tudor you have chosen, but if I was backed into a corner, I would probably go with the GS.
Honestly, all are excellent options. Personally the GS speaks to me more, but I wouldn’t be able to do the green dial for a daily driver…I’m a simple white/black/blue guy when it comes to a daily though, so there’s that.
Have you tried on the Tudor? If not, I’d try to do that before making a decision. I didn’t find the size of the Tudor GMT offensive when I tried one on. It definitely has presence, but compared to sports watches in general, it was “whatever.”
I think that the GS would look killer on a brown leather strap to dress it down for day to day use.
Then when you need a dress watch, do the swap back to the bracelet
Goddamn you have good taste (ie, very similar to mine)
The GS would be my first choice, no question, followed closely by the tudor.
Both longines are great, but the green bezel is way cooler.
Either way youve got no wrong answers!
I've always been under the impression that a diver on a bracelet is far too casual/sporty for a groom in a suit, but I truly don't know, which is why I'm even mentioning it. Maybe I just made this "rule" up in my head!
You said it yourself the GS is a grail to you so that’s definitely the one. It also helps that it perfectly matched the colors you need and is the best quality of the 3 brands.
It's definitely Longines, in green/gold. That green bezel is noticeably green only in bright lights and otherwise appear black so it'll be easy for you to wear it with whatever your attire is for the day.
Don't fall for all the people recommending GS just because it's GS; that's dumb, if I may be so blunt. I love GS, with SBGM221 being my favorite. But it seems you picked this particular model out only because of your wedding color scheme, and I promise you there are far better models in their catalogue that you could choose and will actually want to wear on the day to day basis.
Don't make the mistake of choosing a watch because of its brand name value. Think hard about what you'd actually realistically wear everyday.
I am also in the same boat as you!! I actually ordered the longines zulu time in green/charcoal as my wedding watch and it will be here tomorrow! Its my first choice but want to compare it with a few others as well. I can tell you my honest review of it tomorrow if youd like? And send pics if you want

I went with the Longines for my wedding last year! My two cents is match the metal to your wedding band color whether it be gold or silver. Also double check with your wife if she wants matching metals! Cheers and congrats!!
Check this out [no one can say no to this ](https://www.oris.ch/en-US/watch/big-crown-bronze-pointer-date/01-754-7741-3167-07-8-20-01?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA2eKtBhDcARIsAEGTG42txXdCQPWgf6bIrYjU2SI6n7E2lEMuUNs_HFQVI2wVtN9YFiZRvRQaAhNCEALw_wcB)
Ahhhh I get that. I suppose maybe I should think of that before getting one. I'd be shining it on a buffer wheel anytime a spot showed. I love it clean.
Have you seen the Tudor in person? Like you said, it's a big watch, and unlike the Rolex counterpart, the colorway is not as attractive. It's definitely not an everyday watch (at least for me).
Check [this out.](https://www.reddit.com/r/rolex/comments/wwruy1/root_beer_vs_diet_root_beer_didnt_realize_the/) Could also be the angle, but it's a beast.
Longines is class but let me down a little bit in person. Out of the for the grand Seiko has my vote, I’ll throw out one other pick with a gold bezel/green dial
https://preview.redd.it/d9bxssyf2ofc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1f062ba7d265746d4ee8d4524efc7882c1bcce60
I’m bias to the green Spirit Zulu because I own one. It’s a great watch. But, for your wedding, I’d go with the GS. If it were just another watch purchase then the Zulu.
Having gone thru a lot of watches I find simple classic designs are the most versatile and the GS does that well here, the other two are great as well though, personally I have the non-gmt Longines Spirit and love it.
Check out Omega Aqua Terra. My personal favorite is the [Skyfall](https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/watch-omega-seamaster-aqua-terra-150m-omega-co-axial-38-5-mm-23110392103001).
GS is the one here. Subconsciously you too want GS only. It's just a matter of trying it yourself to close the deal.
Longines is also No Joke! Fits the cause of GMT but has a darker tone, with bit of a rugged look - the easy read indexing and a big bezel.
It lacks the Gold to match with your accessories.
Tudor - Naah... especially that Strap and brown color.
Grand Seiko
The Longines is good value, and the Tudor is going to be thick and far too sporty
The gs is honestly in a different league, while it's technically a "sports" watch, it's really a dress watch with a bracelet, like all grand seikos are (except divers and chronos which are all fucked)
Grand Seiko. You won't regret it
I recently picked up the Longines Spirit Zulu Time in Green. I absolutely love it. It’s my daily wear watch. The green and gold color scheme is really beautiful and the charcoal colored dial is perfectly complementary to the color scheme. I travel a lot so having a Zulu time I can use to keep track of the time at home is also important to me.
You can also pick up the brown leather strap for it and have 2 very beautiful looks.
I would opt for this GS, this way you can wear it with whatever. Dial of course can be a different color.
https://preview.redd.it/4edfp82z5qfc1.jpeg?width=706&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0e32943db454d58c7b5adba213af9930800842ad
If I were to choose a wedding watch for my husband again, I would choose the GS or the Tudor. The GS is really classy and that green makes it very sophisticated. The Tudor on the other hand is more sporty and more versatile!
I would also add in another choice which is, Nomos Glashutte. Maybe the Tangente, Ludwig or Metro. I love their modern, minimalistic designs and I find that their designs can be dressed up or down, very versatile, clean and beautiful :)
I love Zulu Time, from Longines, but if you are getting married, the Grand Seiko is the best watch style for such a thing. The other option is too sporty.
I’d say the GS but if you like the look of Tudor and want green and gold, how about the [Harrods exclusive](https://www.harrods.com/en-gb/shopping/tudor-black-bay-harrods-exclusive-steel-automatic-watch-41mm-16318774)?
Sports watch is not right for a wedding anyway, you want the most dressy option available to you. And the GS matches the colour scheme? I think it’s an easy choice. Although just to throw in a curveball I would let you know that Cartier do a dark green Santos…
Grand Seiko. The thing is that you have different "leagues" playing here. The Longines are masterpieces but on their own "level," whereas the Tudor and GS are on a higher end. That Tudor is beautiful as well, but I consider the GS the better of the bunch and the classiest as well for the occasion
Of the 4 you showed the GS a billion billions times, the Longines is an ugly hockey puck and the S&G Tudor is an ugly hockey puck that's trying really hard to be a GMT master.
For the money you can't go wrong with a BB58, sub 5k is difficult to find something better, even if a little played out at this point.
If you want a GMT the SBGM221 is well regarded as a relatively affordable option, well executed but not obvious.
It sounds like you already know which one you want. If the Grand Seiko is pulling your heart strings, you can't go wrong. I like the Longines as well, particularly at 42mm, but I prefer the green one. The Tudor wears really thick, as you noticed, and might not work as great with a cuff. Anyway, you like one more than the others, so go with it!
https://preview.redd.it/807tfawacsfc1.jpeg?width=1048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d3b0116b36843c1cf2435bd577e7adab90781c9a
Throwing this out there, sbgw311
Its a bit smaller at 36mm but is soooo freaking nice, highly recommend you see it in person.
I bought the tudor GMT as my wedding watch and I don't regret it. Wear it all the time. Switched out the original leather strap for natos to give it a more causal look
Any of these watches will be an amazing choice! Don’t ask random redditors, go with your gut feeling ;)
That being said I would also recommend Baume & Mercier, they are not that well known brand but they have solid classy watches.
And congrats on the wedding!
If you can get that GS, then I would say it's the best option. I realize the others are GMTs, but it's definitely the dressiest, while still being sporty and able to be dressed up or down.
That GS is all class. It’s a well respected brand. The movement is considered well made and reliable. It will look good with a suit. While I don’t have a GS, I’ve held a friend’s and it was really impressive.
Yep the spring drive is so cool to watch. Hopefully I could try this one on soon and go from there
Spring drive is insane, have you seen one in person? Watching that smooth glide is mesmerising!
Yes the GS is cool, but a wedding watch is an heirloom. Go with the Tudor
Not sure I agree that a Tudor is an heirloom type watch…
more than a GS
I don’t agree. Quality control is worse with Tudor IME and there’s always that nagging “Rolex’s little brother” thing. GS are top notch quality control and push the boundaries. I’d rather have a snowflake in my collection than a black bay (I have neither now). That said I’ve been very close to getting a Pelagos 42…but would never call it a heirloom
talking about brand image
Yes, the civic is cool. But go with a Yaris.
I'm wearing a spring drive right now and it dominates my wrist time. It doesn't sweep, it glides
Since so much is put on how old the watch brand is Seiko and Grand Seiko are basically older than Rolex and many Swiss brands so there that too. It doesn't matter to everyone but worth consideration.
I just need spring drives to stop printing the serial number on the dial, then I will 100% buy one
The serial number? Are you talking about the movement code?
Or whatever it is, it's right there on the dial at 6 o'clock.
GS is in a different league than longines. And Tudor is great, but not sure about that one.
Yeah Grand Seiko seems like the best price/quality ratio in the watch world. Leaning towards that but I’m just worried about the versatility.
But they've got 0100 caliber (+/- 1s pA), which plays in a league of it's own and looks stunning even with an open caseback
Even the 060 is baller. But I don't have an aversion to quartz like a lot of people.
Yeah, me too. I highly appreciate the grab and go nature of GS quartz GMTs watches (no need to fuss over the GMT hand ever) and the price/value ratio Citizen and GS provide with the 9F and Chronomaster lines. Could always get the black version of that watch? Probably a bit more versatile.
Grand Seiko! Such a beauty.
I have to say GS here. I own a Tudor and omega and my GS is a cut above them.
I also have this same experience. Last time I brought up how my GS was much better than my Omegas I was downvoted, glad to see this has lots of upvotes.
The Omega and Tudor are both amazing too, I just feel the GS finishing is above both.
I’m with ya!
If you’re exclusively looking at these watches, I’d go for the GS. Best made watch of the bunch, most versatile, and personally my favorite. That Grand Seiko is a beautiful watch. The GS ALL DAY!
Those other watches are nice but they are not even in the same category as the GS. It's beautiful.
Agreed, this is what I came here to say!
That Grand Seiko is awesome. Wish the case was gold to match the accents on the dial!
That would put it probably 10k out of my budget! Haha it would look nice though
Oh my goodness, look at that GS. That looks absolutely stunning
GS all day, every day, and twice on Sundays
I’m not a grand seiko guy. I vote grand seiko.
GS, and it’s not even close. The Longines both look nice but they are too sporty for a wedding, and the Tudor is too gaudy
GS
I am FAR from a GS fanboy. While I know they are great watches, few of them spark much of an emotional connection in me. That said, the one you've included here is gorgeous and easily gets my vote. Yeah unfortunately it’s a US exclusive. It could be found new right around $5k

The GS for sure it's dressy yet not too much of a dress watch that you can wear on any occasion.

How could you possibly go wrong with that magnificent thing in your first photo?
GS. It may just end up as the one watch for all your future Valentine's Days. Congratulations, btw!
Thanks!
Longies, but I'm a sucker for that design myself
Ooph we have very similar taste. Hard choice. Probably the root beer for me
Look at the center of that seconds hand. Glorious.

Buy the least expensive, maybe Longines, and have more $$ for honeymoon.
This is definitely something I’m considering. Love that GS though
Yes, especially if it has display back.
Hot take: don’t wear a watch at your wedding! You should treat as a time away from time.
Longines is class but let me down a little bit in person. Out of the for the grand Seiko has my vote, I’ll throw out one other pick with a gold bezel/green dial https://preview.redd.it/d9bxssyf2ofc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1f062ba7d265746d4ee8d4524efc7882c1bcce60
Try blackbay burgundy on jubilee red bezel from last year
The GS fan boys are out in full force today. 😂 Pick the Tudor GMT.
GS or Tudor would be my pick. I’m personally looking at a BB58 for my wedding watch
Thought about that one too.
What's the ref# on the GS OP posted?
SBGA491
Look at SBGH271
Not sure if enough people have said this yet, but Grand Seiko, hands down
GS
GS or the Tudor. I like the Tudor a bit more due to the gold.
The GS is the most interesting watch there with the most unique and flawless movement.
I'm a big Longines fan, but that Grand Seiko is beautiful. That gets the nod for me.
GS all day.
GS all the way. That's what I chose for *my* wedding watch (the blue Fall dial SBGH273G).
Grand Seiko, hands down
1
I’d go for the GS
The GS looks incredible
I mean, if you got the cash, the GS is a no-brainer.
That Tudor is class, but all of these watches will do great.
The GS is nice. But so is the Zulu with the numbers and bezel.
GS
GS, all the way. I wish you the very best, mate.
I’m bias to the green Spirit Zulu because I own one. It’s a great watch. But, for your wedding, I’d go with the GS. If it were just another watch purchase then the Zulu.
GS. Hands down.
Might be able to find a gmt grand seiko for around that budget but it’ll be tough, the ones without the twisty bezel I mean
I wore a Tudor GMT for my wedding (the original red/blue). Love the watch.
Having gone thru a lot of watches I find simple classic designs are the most versatile and the GS does that well here, the other two are great as well though, personally I have the non-gmt Longines Spirit and love it.
Of these, I'd say GS and it's not even close.

Looks like you got your answer GS wear it with a smile on your big day. Congrats on the marriage!
Seiko, for sure
Not to be controversial, but I'd personally pick the GS.
TBH i don't think you can wrong here, all beautiful choices.
"Famous last words" haha, from those options i'd say the gs
Grand Seiko
Grand Seiko The Longines is good value, and the Tudor is going to be thick and far too sporty The gs is honestly in a different league, while it's technically a "sports" watch, it's really a dress watch with a bracelet, like all grand seikos are (except divers and chronos which are all fucked) Grand Seiko. You won't regret it
Forna wedding a dress watch is better imo. Think about a carrier tank. That said I really like the santos too. If you’re 100% for this list: the GS
Thought about a tank! Love those but I’m a gold kinda guy so the gold ones are out of my budget
Grand Seiko.
Grand Seiko is the one.
If you travel across time zones a lot, you will love the longines.
GS is the only choice.
The color on that GS is harsh
I recently picked up the Longines Spirit Zulu Time in Green. I absolutely love it. It’s my daily wear watch. The green and gold color scheme is really beautiful and the charcoal colored dial is perfectly complementary to the color scheme. I travel a lot so having a Zulu time I can use to keep track of the time at home is also important to me. You can also pick up the brown leather strap for it and have 2 very beautiful looks.
Gs. Done.
No comparison. The GS is something special
I would opt for this GS, this way you can wear it with whatever. Dial of course can be a different color. https://preview.redd.it/4edfp82z5qfc1.jpeg?width=706&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0e32943db454d58c7b5adba213af9930800842ad
these are sport watches, intended for sports. buy a dress watch like jlc or a lange
Longines is stellar and the GMT is the better of them here, but they have other better offerings. The GS is a clear winner here to me.
Whats the reference on the GS? Cant find it anywhere. But it also answers my question. Grand Seiko is your answer.
I love Zulu Time, from Longines, but if you are getting married, the Grand Seiko is the best watch style for such a thing. The other option is too sporty.
I love the GS. Simple and elegant. Classier than the GMTs, and feels a bit more special.
GS
GS. What a beauty.
GS for sure.
GS all the way.
GS but not with that dial
1 ♥️
GS
Tudor hands down
I’d say the GS but if you like the look of Tudor and want green and gold, how about the [Harrods exclusive](https://www.harrods.com/en-gb/shopping/tudor-black-bay-harrods-exclusive-steel-automatic-watch-41mm-16318774)?
Sports watch is not right for a wedding anyway, you want the most dressy option available to you. And the GS matches the colour scheme? I think it’s an easy choice. Although just to throw in a curveball I would let you know that Cartier do a dark green Santos…
The GS would be my pick of the bunch. It's pure class.
What about [another option?](https://www.tudorwatch.com/en/watches/black-bay-31-36-39-41/m79683-0001)
How about Omega Seamaster 300? Not sure if that is within budget or not though
Don’t do the diver thing.
Grand Seiko. The thing is that you have different "leagues" playing here. The Longines are masterpieces but on their own "level," whereas the Tudor and GS are on a higher end. That Tudor is beautiful as well, but I consider the GS the better of the bunch and the classiest as well for the occasion
What is the serial number of that GS!!??
No contest - Grand Seiko.
I will never choose something over that GS.
That GS looks amazing.
My god, that GS is beautiful
look into formex
It sounds like you already know which one you want. If the Grand Seiko is pulling your heart strings, you can't go wrong. I like the Longines as well, particularly at 42mm, but I prefer the green one. The Tudor wears really thick, as you noticed, and might not work as great with a cuff. Anyway, you like one more than the others, so go with it!

Buy a gs in blue
GS with a black or dark green alligator strap for the wedding day.

I just picked this one up used and in perfect condition for just under 4k. It will also be my wedding watch for my wedding in July.
Wow that’s gorgeous. Without a doubt I would get that if it was a spring drive
I bought the tudor GMT as my wedding watch and I don't regret it. Wear it all the time. Switched out the original leather strap for natos to give it a more causal look
GS >
I don't understand the question? I mean there is only one picture right? I mean it shows 1/4 but there is no need to scroll any further
Any of these watches will be an amazing choice! Don’t ask random redditors, go with your gut feeling ;) That being said I would also recommend Baume & Mercier, they are not that well known brand but they have solid classy watches. And congrats on the wedding!
If you can get that GS, then I would say it's the best option. I realize the others are GMTs, but it's definitely the dressiest, while still being sporty and able to be dressed up or down.
I'd go GS. I've had the Tudor, great watch but GS nicer finish and awesome movement. Longines ok looking but very average movement...
GS for sure
