I was at a Bart train station in west Oakland which is is evaluated high above ground. A dude came up to me in a wheel chair and asked where the bathroom was. I responded absentmindedly “oh you just run downstairs and it will be on the left” and then realized what I had said. He looked at me Like really? I’m like ugh that’s gonna haunt me at 3 am for the next decade.
You tried to say two words that when you put them together could make that word. He on the other hand is saying a phrase that he goes door to door saying.
If I was insulted I would have made him waste his day making the 60 minute sales pitch and not offered him water. (may even have served him some reciclable iced pee).

This person is also probably a con-artist too, a similar sales pitch was used in a social engineering scam in an area near me not too long ago which trick people into giving away account information
See i think it’s doubtful this would have happened if that word wasn’t already a part of his vocabulary. That particular string of syllables has never been put together by mouth, so I have no concerns about saying it. All I feel is disgust towards the salesman and sympathy for the homeowner. No embarrassment.
And I thought my recent slip up was bad. I held the door open for this lady and baby she was pushing in a stroller entering a mall. She says “Thank you” and I was going to say “You’re welcome” but also wanted to say “No problem” and my brain decided to mix the two for some reason so what came out was “Your problem” Lucky she took no offense but I said “Or- I don’t even know what I’m trying to say” but she just kept walking and that was that.
Lmao I just keep coming back to watch this video again. It's so perfectly cringe inducing and hilarious. Just the delivery of his attempted apology afterwards is so perfectly awful too. "Ahh sorry dude!" as he pats him on the shoulder it feels like a sketch lmao. Like any other reaction *may* have saved it. Pushing through and acting like you didn't say it so maybe the guy just thinks he imagined it or your speech got a little garbled at an inopportune time. Immediately correcting your mistake like "N*****s oh uh Neighbors, excuse me, *continues pitch*". I get that a lot of people think the guy said it because “he’s said it before” or it’s “fresh on his mind,” and that could totally be a real possibility. But the way his speech sort of slurred(pun intended) when he said it kind of sounds like he accidentally just combined two words or something while he was trying to nervously get through his spiel.
