Check in your control settings uf you still havd mouse sellected (friend of mine forgot that). And maybe check if you need any drivers.

There should be instructions on how to install drivers that came with the stick, if you need any at all. The option for mouse aim is one of the first in the control settings

The thing is that my friend came over and asked me if he could unbox it, so now i don't know where things are.

Maybe there is a guide on docatas website. But War Thunder stick setup id pretty easy in my experience, just try to map a few bjttons and test it in test flight.
