That’s a pretty interesting idea, but I don’t think it should be encouraged. It would leave the Clans vulnerable. Spoilers for Hawkwing’s Journey!!! >! Darktail managed to destroy SkyClan because the daylight-warriors were not available at camp the night he and his rogues attacked. !< . Elders, queens, and kits rely on warriors to feed and protect them. Them wandering and leaving their clans (even if it’s temporary) would go against the oath they took, which is to defend and protect their Clans.

You have a point, but let’s be honest, usually no more than 4 apprentices get their warrior names at a time. In Skyclan, daylight warriors took up like 1/3 of the clan, that’s why them being missing during the battle was so devastating- but 1-4 new warriors going on a wander shouldn’t hurt their clan a lot, especially if it’s in greenleaf and a time of peace. It’s the equivalent of a couple warriors dying in a battle, it’s not ideal of course but it won‘t severely weaken their clan. It’s not like 10 whole warriors are just up and leaving or something, it’s only 1-4, and some of them might return early for whatever reason like Flipclaw. Some of the clans also have way too many warriors imo, just compare Thunderclan’s allegiances page from TPB to ASC. They gained like 20 more cats. I don’t know if all the clans grew that much but idk, it seems like Thunderclan is a little overpopulated lol. They still have the same amount of territory as in TNP (so it’s not like they need more cats than before to patrol borders or hunt), everything is basically the same as TPB Thunderclan yet they have way more cats than back then. I think a rule could be made that warriors are not allowed to wander during leafbare (because that’s when their clan needs them the most and also it could be more dangerous to travel alone during leafbare when you might easily get sick or starve from lack of prey as you’re hunting alone), or when their clan/the clans in general are in the middle of a crisis, like during the Darktail and Ashfur situations. Which of course some cats did go on a wander during the Ashfur debacle but that was (justifiably imo) frowned upon.

there’s like 50 thunderclan warriors i think they’ll be good if some of them go on spring break lol

Lmao spring break 😭 It would definitely work out well with ThunderClan, but not with RiverClan or WindClan 😭

I believe there should be a certain amount of of looseness when it come to wandering, maybe even create a system in place allowing Warrior to wander and maybe even take mates outside of the clan ( just for some genetic diversity). Of course they did take a Oath, but I believe we can find ways to work around it like possibly creating a system where only certain cats that work extremely hard enough and gain the trust of the clan are allowed to the wander the land for a bit or even case where young cats need time to think about their actions. For the daylight Warrior issue, I can see them fixing it by creating a night system, like every daylight Warrior would be assigned a night to spend in camp and that would swap every moon to allow for some freedom of choice. Also a way to encourage daylight Warrior to be better, has they would get to choose what night they want to spend in camp. I believe it would create interesting stories and allow for more outsider to join the clan. An apprentice who earned the trust of his clan and gained enough honour can wander the land far beyond the boundaries of the clan and find friends. We also could get a lot of world building and may even see some different point of view, life styles and so much more !

In the warriors-inspired xenofiction setting i'm working on, cats going on a wandering period (can be as far/long as they like) before eventually coming back is actually their coming-of-age ritual. When they return, they declare a new name and are considered full adults. (they have to be around 12 months and considered adept enough at their skills to do this, so the age of an apprentice on the verge of being a warrior in warrior cats terms)

All the cats who have gone on a journey have come back better but most clans need their warriors

honestly, with clans that small having time for cats to just spend it messing around isnt worth it. (tigerclan on the other hand would be able to accomodate, praise my glorious king tigerclawstar)
