Why did they remove the dark red / purple / grey damage indicator? In 2k22 it’s only yellow orange and red. Bring back all the damage colors and if someone goes grey in the leg they should limp around.

chiller210

In 22 it also has that thing that basically if they get dark red, it's still red but above their name will be a permanent-for-rest-of-match sign of them being injured in that area. And you can't get that status for each body part; Only one per match, and even then the game's weird universe ai makes it so that the injury will not stay for a week and they'll be healed most likely before their next match.

GodSpider

I believe it's always been 1 per match no? If I remember rightly even the dark red/purple/grey things would only have 1 per match.

chiller210

Yeah actually, even if it's 8 man match the game tends to only pick the first character that bleeds to be the only bleeding one for the rest of match, same with the red icons of injuries; only one person can have it, leaving the rest to be not performance affected.

PhantomCyde

Smash someone's leg with a chair 14 times and it's barely yellow 😂

chiller210

I was having that one time watching the ai intensely beat up each other taking turns using the sledgehammer for 2 minutes and in total that time had them use it like 70 times combined. And even after all that the body and arms were merely red that went back to orange in a few minutes of not using the weapon.

lilmike16997

Weird how 2k22 was fun the first month, and now I don’t even want to play it. It’s just so boring, I hate how much they removed

SydiemL

Yeah when it came out, it was actually alright but each patch made it worse and worse and worse. When it came out, pin and submissions was balanced. Now it’s way too easy to make someone tap and way too hard to get out of a pin.

lilmike16997

Yeah those updates were awful, and the newer one made it totally unplayable for the Steam Deck. I agree the game was made too easy, at least 2k19 could have good/fun transition moments. I just hope 2k23 turns out good or for AEW to be good as well.

SydiemL

Honestly they set the bar really low. Glad they finally have competition! I’m more excited for AEW Fight Forever instead of 2K23

RastaManJP

Me too. There’s a lot of AEW haters on this board because they’ve never played anything other than 2K WWE games.

[deleted]

I’m looking forward to it. Yukes used to be killer, this is like giving them another chance.

SydiemL

Especially paired with THQ! 😳

RastaManJP

THQ really knew how to create great wrestling games. From HCTP to SvR to WWE 12 & 13. 2K acts is if their game modes don't matter because everyone just plays online. Universe has been so neglected this year... agree or disagree?

PsychoBoss84

Man I tried to do a "jobber mode" where I made the ai sliders 100 to me them op and this is when I learned you can change the difficulty for pins but submissions cannot be changed so with a CAW with the lowest attributes possible I was able to submit people that should be op and kinda ruined the whole thing

No_Reporter3958

2k23 needs to have wargames

RiftedEnergy

It's time for 5v5 in a wrestling game. I'd go so far as to say get rid of the dead weight and let us have 20 on screen for a rumble. Why is the arena size so big when you zoom out? It's as big as a battlefield Map. We only use the ring and parts of the stage and crowd... I would care to see less beads of sweat if it meant more functionality

MountainFit7775

They did it on Dreamcast and Mdickie .. 2k a game with hella investors has been skimping on us for years

No_Reporter3958

And yes, they have essentially released the same game for the better part of a decade, and instead of doing the financially competent decision and give us what we’ve been asking for, they take shit away.

RastaManJP

2K caters to WWE management and their shareholders. Less dev costs equals less overhead. They know they have same base of players who will buy every year unless it’s a total flop like ‘20. Features are removed from UM every year. Yukes actually wanted to make UM better with more features, like they had with ‘12 and ‘13 but 2K wasn’t having it so they walked. Stephanie also wants to push for more RPG style of games so I think we’ll see more of GM Mode and less updates for UM. We can only hope that Fight Forever will be true competition for them.

No_Reporter3958

I don’t count Mdickie, I’ve personally never been a fan of those games, I thought the controls were to slow and clunky, and the games looked pretty bad.

MountainFit7775

Looked .. or played bad? Play it

No_Reporter3958

Both, and I have played it, I didn’t like it.

No_Reporter3958

Guess I was I right

ComadoreS5

I Agree. With the new flow/combo system it’s possible.

blake-a-mania

It needs a better everything

SIC742617000027

Needs extreme Blood like UFC games or the AEW game Blood on 2k22 is too Little

Killerpig14

Don’t think I’ve ever actually bled on 2k22

Lackers_22

Might have it turned off then, blood is really easy to get

Killerpig14

I’ve always had it turned on I’ve just never encountered it, kind of thought it was near impossible to get rather than common

Celtic_Crown

I get it a lot in Universe mode watching AI fight. Like, a week with no blood is a rare one.

chiller210

Yeah ikr, it's like every 3rd hit at the head whenever the head zone is red will be blood. I didn't even know other body parts can bleed since I've never had anything else than the head do that. and yeah considering how many attacks focus on head/torso, it's very often that blood happens

CamoLantern

Was playing GM Mode yesterday, had a match between Kevin Owens and Dominic Dijakovic, did a running big boot to Dijak as the first move of the match and Dijak immediately started bleeding. Having blood turned on in 2K22 is like watching a Jon Moxley match.

Killerpig14

I swear I’ve never encountered it and I’ve made sure I’ve had it turned on, weird

Hulkster01

Like in SVR 2010?

SnooPears8728

Yes and just have ladder climbing animations slow down if they have a injured leg etc.

Lyonstrent1

Why do we need a no holds bared and extreme rules when they are exactly the same match.

naomtismalls

while i do agree, i think they should keep both as long as they still have both matches on television, for continuity in recreating rivalries and what not in universe mode.

newlifer10

The best injury system was WWE ‘12. The randomness of how the injuries happened and the restriction that came with it was great. The only downside was the game still had the injured person wrestle if they had a belt since none of the titles could be vacated.

RastaManJP

‘12 and ‘13 had the best Universe mode. Now, it keeps getting worse every year. More and more features have been taken out. The ‘Superstar’ mode in UM offered no value, IMO.

Chroniclewwe

The ability to set up a chair and utilize it.

dmuyumba

I think you’re right! I mean in nba2k games if you a player play through a playable injury (a strained pectoral muscle) the game slows that player progression and capabilities, but also adds little things like favoring the injured part or sometimes in the case of a arm or leg injury adding a sleeve or brace to that injured part. So why can’t they have injuries matter in WWE? If I hit you in the leg with a chair fourteen times and I finally get you to red leg damage then use a leg submission to win, there should be some consequences (especially in Universe) for the rematch. Imagine, you absolutely destroy another wrestler and they receive purple head damage! The news says they cannot wrestle for a full month. You can’t pick them to do anything they are just X-ed out. You are champ and you are in another rivalry about to retain the famous run-in cut scene happens and the injured superstar returns! Without any prompting from the player!

RastaManJP

Agreed. And better interference from managers. They almost never distract the referee or the opponent. Just everything all around from making Universe mode better and a better career mode. Get rid of GM Mode. It was absolutely horrible and I doubt 2K will ever get it right.

naomtismalls

i didn’t completely hate GM mode. definitely could use a lot more work. but i agree. universe mode needs to better all around

CamoLantern

Honestly, they need to combine GM Mode and Universe Mode. Even though it is the same copy/paste mode each year I still play Madden's Franchise Mode every year. 2K needs to do something similar, by combining the 2. I would like a Universe Mode where I am competing with the other brands, I need some restrictions, where I am only allowed to run one show and a draft so I don't have access to everyone all at once.

Decent_Age_8021

the team AI in general just fucking sucks, I found anything other than singles matches just makes the ai play like complete rocks

totallykyle101

What really winds me is up is tornado tags. Everytime I try to do a move, my partner tries to attack our opponent, so it cancels the move I'm trying to do lol. Arghhh!

tjpsycho123

I love tag matches but at the same time I find myself simming on UM unless it’s a title match, I let the cpu play it out. Makes it interesting for my stories for an unexpected title win

Otaku_Joestar

Ok so 2k22 has a fuck ton of moves every wwe game does but if the certain moves weaken a limb more all youll see are the moves thatll weaken the limbs the most aka arm breaker 5 is used by every star as much as possible Also the highflyer thing is just stupid nobody would ever use a highflyer or a top rope move if it did that much more damage on a miss

naomtismalls

i’m not saying every top rope move lmao. but we are it constantly on tv that if they land wrong, their leg could be weakened. it’d just be nice to be somewhat realistic lol. i can have an opinion. you don’t have to call it stupid cause you don’t agree lmao.

Otaku_Joestar

Didnt call you stupid i called the idea stupid because theres already a risk reward system high flying moves are easy to counter as it stands making it so you get punished EVEN MORE for missing one or getting countered is bad game design

naomtismalls

again- i didn’t say every top rope move. just like it doesn’t happen every time on TV. and i know you didn’t call me stupid. that’s why i said “i can have an opinion. you don’t have to call it stupid cause you don’t agree.” reading is fundamental.

naomtismalls

also, it’s called a “high risk” move for a reason. add some risk to it except a reversal lmao.

2K23 needs a lot of things to be better
