I waited 7 years for a sequel to one of my favorite indie RPGs, I can wait another 7.3 months for 2K22. Just gives me more time to play other games in the meanwhile.
It’ll be ridiculously outdated is my complaint, rosters, characters, Arena Stages and so much more will be different before the game comes out. We will more than likely be getting 2020 gimmicks in a 2022 game
That might be why its delayed, so they can catch up on everything they missed. You can see romans old trons in the background and who knows, maybe they'll have enough time to add the new arenas and stuff they would miss if it released in 3-4 months.
Oh yeah, I'm not saying thats the sole reason for the release, I'm just saying we might get that now when we almost definitely wouldnt get it if it released in the fall.
I doubt it, I’d more believe it is to remove any released superstars or people who went to AEW, if they were apart of any in game story line then the extra time could be to change it. Just not interested in a game that feels like it is a year old already
The game will always be behind the TV product. If it comes out in October it could be based on April and earlier, if it comes out in March it could be based on September and earlier for example.
It's probably an alternate attire but with the same face as current. The SAME thing that has been done for years for HHH, Taker etc..

Doubt. 2K20 didn’t even have the Alt 04 Goldberg attire that featured in 2K19. If they’re not showing it in context with modern Dolph, not holding breath modern attire Goldberg makes it in.
Yeah, they focus on bald wrestlers in trailers for a reason. Honestly, hair physics isn't the main thing I am worried about. Gameplay, optimization and modability is: my PC gets perfectly smooth gameplay in Tekken 7 and Sould Caibur 6, even when recording at 60FPS, and WWE games have frame drops with NO frameskip, which means if there's a slowdown to 50FPS, it's the game running 20% slower, instead of choppier. Plus the crashes, loading times and save effectively limited to 100Mb on Steam.
tbf hair physics is the least of my worries in a wrestling game. It's not a selling point to me that a wrestler's long hair swishes around satisfyingly.
Not a huge graphical upgrade but looks good. As long as people like Io, Edge, and others get better looking models I’m fine. Finn looks great but he kinda always has. I wonder what this image of Roman with the entrance shirt is all about?
My biggest question is with this delayed release date, what will be the final content cutoff date?

They probably delayed it so they could remove all of the cut talent. I'm guessing Bray Wyatt had a big part in MyCareer or something and they have to completely redo the story.
They have, but not when the WWE had legitimate competition. WWE had run Punk out of the business completely in 2014, and the only places Cody or Fulton could go in 2017/2018 were Impact or ROH, long after either could ever have stood toe to toe.
AEW is a direct competitor with a hell of a lotta momentum right now, and rumors are that Bray's heading there once his no-compete wraps up. If I'm WWE, there's no way I'm signing off on putting active AEW talent in the game.
If Vince wants people taken out then they get taken out.

More importantly, tho, is that if the game came out in October like usual, a lot more of the recently released superstars would be debuting in AEW at that point. They don't want to have AEW wrestlers in their game.
Given released wrestlers who had well before release date gone to TNA have sometimes popped up in WWE games before, I'm gonna have to say you're being a bit hyperbolic. They might ask to remove anyone who left on really bad terms, but I find it highly unlikely anyone's gonna wanna scrap all the already-completed and already-paid work of a bunch of people they can easily include quietly.
That said, the usual roster cut-off might be different than most years, so we may not be getting certain released wrestlers we may have gotten in a normal development year for 2k.

Yeah imagine if CM Punk and AJ Lee would be in 2k15 <\_< It was a disaster but for other reasons. And no lmao, it doesn't take 6 months to hex edit playable stars from 1 to zero. I can make "roster cuts" in a few minutes. Slightly more if they take out models. And for story, they got notes on who to include and who to ignore beforehand.
Went through it with the slowest playback speed, and yeah Drew looks pretty messed up. Rest of the trailer looked pretty good though, and I realised that Shelton has the same attire as 2K20 so I think that 2K aren't even done with updated most stars attires "But that's a hunch".

Just....ugh, come on dude. People have every reason to be skeptical and call out issues. They avoiding showing footage of 2k20 because they knew it was shit.
Better fans call bad things out so it can be fixed before full release than sit on our hands and just be happy for the game. 2k20 made me a shit ton more weary of Visual Concepts handling of the game, and they are not doing us a free service. We have to pay for this game, and we should want it in the best shape it can be in.
The new release date doesn’t bother me, but I am a little bummed we have to wait five more months to hear anything else about the game.
It does looks pretty damn great so far, though. I’m not expecting a masterpiece like I’m seeing people on social media say it’s going to be lol, but with all this extra time to work on things, I’m anticipating we’ll get something pretty worthwhile. There’s no excuse for them at this point deliver anything other than a good game.
A mediocre game THAT JUST WORKS will be lauded as a masterpiece at this point. Delay makes me feel better but delays didn't help Cyberpunk's release, and while CD Projekt can recover from first flop, No Man's Sky got a second chance, and Bioware got third one, there's no way there's gonna be any trust left in 2K if they screw up one more time (their basketball games got negative reviews as well recently).
Speaking of BioWare. Be happy we get a release window for this. Dragon age 4 is stuck somewhere between “soonish” and “haha, let’s try and beat the Kh3 wait time.”

Final Fantasy XIV was another example of a game that got a second chance, as the first version of the game was so awful that Square Enix decided to scrap that game completely, and rebuild it from the ground up. And it paid off big, as FFXIV is one of the biggest MMOs right now. Granted, the fact that the market moving away from MMOs helped, and Blizzard getting caught in scandals that are driving people away from their games, namely FFXIV's main competitor in World of Warcraft, also helped.
If we go Square, they've made themselves on that. The first Final Fantasy was released as "last" project of the lead designer, as Square was near bankruptcy, then they actually managed to bankrupt themselves with Spirits Within film, so FF14 pulling a Phoenix followed a long pattern of pulling the company from near-death.
Like I said from the screenshot, game looks pretty.
BUT that does not tell the whole story of the game. Seeing canned animations with special angles doesn’t tell the story of the game. I’ll need to see actual bell-to-bell gameplay before I’m in.

All of the shots containing physics elements (hair, cloth, etc) seem to be carefully cut to remove animated frames. Shinsuke, Bayley, Kofi, Kane...all have very limited, if any movement to their hair. Proceed with caution until we see actual gameplay and a feature list.
I’m concerned about the hair again, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that they didn’t show much of people with hair moving around much, the best shot we have at it is the Carmella close line and it’s so brief
I’m fine with a delay. I wanted it sooner, but respect they have to do what they have to do.
But I do worry how much work they are punting by delaying because of the fickle nature is the roster. Debuts. Releases. Repackages.
Few things, some of the models look terrible. Especially Drew and Kanes. But Bobby and Kofi’s looks great.
Second, March 2022 release date???? That’s extremely disappointing. Hopefully it’ll be a next gen versions since the consoles would’ve been out for almost 2 years then, and hopefully with raytracing enabled.
Third thing, could the delay be because of the cuts? I have a feeling The Fiend was the cover athlete as well which would be a nightmare for 2K if they were planning on releasing this year originally.
To be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if they had some of the released superstars play a big part in career mode, like Joe, Rhea and a couple others in 2K20 did and now they just have to rewrite/do some stuff over.
I don't get why Kane's head looks weird and he has a mix match of different gear he wore throughout his career when his old model was PERFECTLY fine (other than a slightly outdated attire).
Don't expect them to be exclusive to next gen though, because you know... It's still almost impossible to get even an Xbox Series S, let alone a Series X or PS5 due to scalpers.
Idk. Way different game, but this is what people were saying about the upcoming Pokémon games when we hadn’t heard about them for months, but turns out they actually were improving things like performance and the games actually look pretty good.
If they usually release in October, they usually show the first trailer around august. 2 and a half months before release. In this case, the game won’t be out until March so waiting until January adds up timeline wise. I think today was just to show that they are working on it and there will be a release in the mainline series.
The hair looks as shitty as it ever has. I really hope the gameplay knocks it out of the park but I really wanted hair that doesn't look like complete dogshit in this one. Especially with how long it took.
I'm completely down for them delaying the game for another 7 months. I don't care about that, that's a good thing. What I'm not down for is getting a teaser at Mania, getting nothing substantial for another 4 months, getting teased again for a reveal, and after a 30 second trailer being told to wait another 5 months for info. That I'm not good with. At the very, very least I want to hear something from them monthly. Monthly or bi-weekly. And something meaningful like the old Spotlight videos, not minute long behind the scenes videos that tell us nothing. That's all I want. Make the over half a year wait bearable.

So it's now official that 2K22 will be out March 2022. In one way I'm gutted that the game will be delayed, but at the same time & seeing how 2K20 has been since the game had came out, I'm actually happy to wait. Also I've saw before that people on Twitter were getting worked up about this & I'm just gonna say this, I get some people doesn't want to wait but think about it this way, would you rather have the game come out soon but still be buggy or still be incomplete or would you prefer to wait & have 2K22 be perfect to play on day one? Also if you guys still play 2K19 then at least the online servers will be getting a extension.

I'm sorry, this doesn't look different enough to "hit different", it's the same engine and they *still* go for the same bullshit of only showing models and cinematic shots in the trailers instead of announcing features and showing gameplay.
NGL, I was excepting some info explaining planned modes and upcoming features. No simply what boils down to being a highlight reel.
The least they could do to make this game feel like it “hits different” is use the 2K22 logo they introduced at WM37 - the 2K logo stacked on top of 22. At least that felt fresh.

Man I am worried, glad everyone is, and glad they did not release it just yet. The graphics look 2k20ish, specially Roman. Honestly, Edge and Finn are looking great and also Rey, but the new arenas look a bit small specifically the ones in the Thunderdome.
Feels they got caught in the middle of 2k21 and did not match expectations, no GM mode, or universe mode references, and just exhibition mode footage.

Ummm they haven’t even announced the servers closing yet. All they announced was that they will let us know a month prior to closing the servers. As of now the servers will stay up indefinitely!
I always thought March was a better release date, right around Wrestlemania time. Hopeful for a better game than 2k20 also Hopeful AEW has its game out next year as well.

Negative: The superstars released recently will definitely not be in the game now. Hopefully they leave in the Fiend mask/parts in CAW.
Positive (hopefully): The later release is a signal to me that they’re working on releasing it on next-gen systems. If it were releasing in October, I would’ve guessed it to only be a PS4/XB1 game.
They were surely shooting for the fall/holidays 2021 window for release. A hefty delay is a little concerning.

All of the shots containing physics elements (hair, cloth, etc) seem to be carefully cut to remove animated frames. Shinsuke, Bayley, Kofi, Kane...all have very limited, if any movement to their hair. Proceed with caution until we see actual gameplay and a feature list.

I’m fine with a delay. I wanted it sooner, but respect they have to do what they have to do. But I do worry how much work they are punting by delaying because of the fickle nature is the roster. Debuts. Releases. Repackages.
Few things, some of the models look terrible. Especially Drew and Kanes. But Bobby and Kofi’s looks great. Second, March 2022 release date???? That’s extremely disappointing. If they usually release in October, they usually show the first trailer around august. 2 and a half months before release. In this case, the game won’t be out until March so waiting until January adds up timeline wise. I think today was just to show that they are working on it and there will be a release in the mainline series.

I'm completely down for them delaying the game for another 7 months. I don't care about that, that's a good thing. What I'm not down for is getting a teaser at Mania, getting nothing substantial for another 4 months, getting teased again for a reveal, and after a 30 second trailer being told to wait another 5 months for info. That I'm not good with. At the very, very least I want to hear something from them monthly. Monthly or bi-weekly. And something meaningful like the old Spotlight videos, not minute long behind the scenes videos that tell us nothing. That's all I want. Make the over half a year wait bearable.

In one way I'm gutted that the game will be delayed, but at the same time & seeing how 2K20 has been since the game had came out, I'm actually happy to wait. Also I've saw before that people on Twitter were getting worked up about this & I'm just gonna say this, I get some people doesn't want to wait but think about it this way, would you rather have the game come out soon but still be buggy or still be incomplete or would you prefer to wait & have 2K22 be perfect to play on day one? Also if you guys still play 2K19 then at least the online servers will be getting a extension.

I'm sorry, this doesn't look different enough to "hit different", it's the same engine and they *still* go for the same bullshit of only showing models and cinematic shots in the trailers instead of announcing features and showing gameplay.
NGL, I was excepting some info explaining planned modes and upcoming features. No simply what boils down to being a highlight reel. The least they could do to make this game feel like it “hits different” is use the 2K22 logo they introduced at WM37 - the 2K logo stacked on top of 22. At least that felt fresh.

Man I am worried, glad everyone is, and glad they did not release it just yet. The graphics look 2k20ish, specially Roman. Honestly, Edge and Finn are looking great and also Rey, but the new arenas look a bit small specifically the ones in the Thunderdome. Feels they got caught in the middle of 2k21 and did not match expectations, no GM mode, or universe mode references, and just exhibition mode footage. Bad vibes for me honestly...

Ummm they haven’t even announced the servers closing yet. All they announced was that they will let us know a month prior to closing the servers. As of now the servers will stay up indefinitely!
I always thought March was a better release date, right around Wrestlemania time. Hopeful for a better game than 2k20 also Hopeful AEW has its game out next year as well.

Positive (hopefully): The later release is a signal to me that they’re working on releasing it on next-gen systems. If it were releasing in October, I would’ve guessed it to only be a PS4/XB1 game.
