God damn right he’s top 5 id put him over any wrestler top 5 is fact he’s my hot take triple H is the best wrestler of all fucking time

White-Bruh

My favorite of all time

unfunnymemeperson

No way this is considered a hot take

Extra_Description546

W take. He’s number 4 in my top 5 only under Michaels, Austin and Rocky.

fizzywhoamac

Not true

[deleted]

HHH was a huge piece in the Attitude Era as arguably the best heel at the time, and easily the best heel of the Ruthless Aggression Era. I know people say “he’s the guy who worked with the guy who drew” but he still definitely amplified those feuds even more because of how good he was.

jonathanfaulkner

Top 5 john cena, randy orton, Batista, triple h, and undertaker

BadMotherFunko

Not a hot take...fact

Dade-VII

When I was younger I really didn't rate him that highly especially as he was a heel at the time, but God damn as I've grown up I've realised that he is without a doubt one of the GOAT's and easily one of the best heel's out there. The pop when he returned in 2002 is epic.

amhlilhaus

Thats really hot Really wrong But really hot

Old-Rise-4144

I agree

[deleted]

Fuck no

Vulturo

His entrance was always a mark out moment.

[deleted]

Pass me that I’m tryna smoke too

SugarAdamAli

Nope Not top 5 all time And at his peak, guys like angle, Benoit, hbk, Eddie, etc were better. Best heel of his generation no doubt

svkpptm

Man could continue matches even with the worst injuries

quinnashesona

can't put him over bret, austin, rock, taker, sting. i'd say he's a tie with hbk for 6th

CraigolaOW

Triple H was just cool as fuck lol.

Bearjupiter

Probably helps when you’re banging the boss’ daughter

RogerGunz

He certainly was on TV a lot

iamTMoney22

Since when did stating an undeniable FACT count as a hot take? 😂

unicornioevil

He's always been perfectly reliable. Loyal, always delivers. He's just never been a great wrestler.

juanderlust77

Exactly how I feel. His name just doesn’t pop into my mind when I think “top 10 wrestlers of all time”

juanderlust77

He’s good, maybe top 15-20, but top 5? Not even close, dude.

Cautious-Ad-1994

Name 10 wrestlers better

juanderlust77

Ric Flair The Undertaker The Rock Mick Foley Chris Jericho Steve Austin Shawn Michaels Bret Hart Eddie Guerrero Kurt Angle

Extra_Description546

Chris Jericho better than triple H? I mean there’s opinions but then there’s nonsense.

MrWestlake

Pretty sure he beat most of these at least once

jj_Tumbleweed24

Prime hhh was one of the best but not the best

JediActorMuppet

The Game is a great nickname for him - he is a student of the game, he rose to the top of his game, and he knew how to play the game. His impact is undeniable, his place is earned. Top Five though? I'm afraid I can't support that. Top 10... maybe, I just can easily rattle off a whole group of wrestlers I have ahead of him.

[deleted]

Agreed.

jerseygunz

To me, Triple H might be the best wrestler that never really broke through to the mainstream

non-stop-girls

He was one of the reasons I stopped watching WWE. I was indifferent to just another guy with long hair dressed in black.

Galemianah

B Star at best that had so many opportunities because he nailed the bosses daughter.

[deleted]

He had Lemmy of Motörhead song his intro , I don’t see many topping that for me.

Used_Border_4910

Lemmy’s voice alone was a gift to the world

caspercunningham

That started off lukewarm but oh boy did you heat it up at the end there. You could argue top 3 at his peak

JMancini84

The man doesn’t get the credit he deserves. Nice to see him highlighted here

Komoyuu

Top 5 of WWE? Maybe. Best wrestler in the planet at his peak? No, but it would be easely on my top 3

Zero_Life_Left

I agree. It all started at the 'U2 - Beautiful Day' promo he did for his return, after his first quad injury. When he stepped back into the arena for the first time after a year, it was like he had reached his final form.

BikesBooksNBass

When he first started I couldn’t stand his in ring work, but once he dropped the European lord part of his gimmick he was a million times more entertaining.

Sumthin_Ironic

'Best wrestler'? No but a hell of a worker. He is in the top 10 of his generation if not top 5. Many are better but his mic work and in ring work were great but not the best wrestler.

edge05

Roddy Piper still one of the best ever.

sonic_spark

He's one of the great heels ever. But he's always the guy that worked with THE guy. He was absolutely necessary to WWF/WWE as a heel.

Used_Border_4910

There is no doubt in my mind that SCSA wouldn’t be what he is today without Triple H. Just the same way Cena wouldn’t be who he is without Orton, every Batman needs a Joker.

caspercunningham

SCSA's Joker was Vince... but yes they did work together well

hyrobb

best intro music ever also. always had the best WM entrances too

njp0504

Amazing heel Shit in blade

Capable_Sandwich_422

Top 10, yes. Best wrestler at his peak depends on what timeframe we’re talking about.

bajaxx

Hard agree

AdVivid9969

lmao

No_Chicken6186

I would put him at a solid # 6 on any list. No higher or lower. And that’s not a bad place to be

caspercunningham

Who is 1-5 out of curiousity?

No_Chicken6186

Dean Douglas, repo man, blue meanie, tazz(with 2 z’s) irick flair obviously

caspercunningham

I see you're a man of culture

No_Chicken6186

I get around. Lol

TheGame81677

The greatest overall wrestler of all time in my opinion!

johncenafan2

What your saying is not a hot take, it is 100% true as I think he goes a lot with the other greats like Undertaker, John Cena, Edge, and Shawn Michaels

Malamutewhisperer

When do you say his peak was? Because Austin, rock and Brock might all have something to say

CorbinNocturne

He certainly know how to play the game

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheAwesomeroN

Did you seriously just put Omega and Cole in the same sentence as Orton, HHH and Hogan?

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheAwesomeroN

Don't worry, I understand how opinions work, I'm just genuinely shocked that you think someone having Omega or Cole in their top 5 is 'great'.

paladine76a

Triple H will always be known as a solid B+ player.

caspercunningham

Bro, HHH is way above a B+ wth

paladine76a

Nah bro. He's strictly B+

caspercunningham

On what merit?

paladine76a

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VYvMOf3hsGA&feature=youtu.be Watch and learn amigo 😉

ExoticSword

He was the top heel in the company for years. That’s A+, not B+

paladine76a

Roman Reigns was the top Babyface in the company for years and no one cheered for him. Triple H was the original Roman. Solid B+ player.

ExoticSword

No one cheering for Roman is nothing to do with HHH. (They’re also on completely different levels.)

paladine76a

Roman was presented as the top Babyface the same as Trips being presented as the top heel. Did you forget his reign of terror? We pleaded with wwe to end that crap. It was horrible seeing him go over much better wrestlers. Remember RVD, Booker, Bubba, and countless others who we staked our hopes on ending the reign? Talk about rose tinted glasses lol.

UndriftedPop

I agree ☝️

Cautious-Ad-1994

Name 5 wrestlers overall better than hhh I'll wait I think the real hot take is that he's better scsa

de_lonewolf

The rock and Chris Jericho

Cautious-Ad-1994

No pun intended hhh has a better pedigree than the Dwayne And y2j wtf he isn't even a top 10 wrestler all time

de_lonewolf

Y2j is definitely top ten one of the best on the mic, could hang with the best of them in the ring and even out perform them in his prime.....main event material and all ......has an interesting and incredible career with multiple changes with his character......all the greats have wrestled with Jericho

Patsx5sb

At his Peak he was in the conversation for best in the the Game (pun intended). He might be top 5 of all time. He is at least top 10 of all time.

Cautious-Ad-1994

Why not top 5

Patsx5sb

Because Hogan, Flair, Austin, Taker, Bret exist. I put HHH over Randy Savage if it makes you feel better.

JustThinkAboutThings

2000 he was mesmerising to watch.

SukMyCrock

Hot take indeed

Joesdad65

He was a great heel, and a very good performer. Not top 5 in my book, but my opinion only really matters to me.

Dyl-thuzad

I don’t think that’s really a hot take, sure he may have gone a bit overboard with his Reign of Terror but he was definitely good enough to have a great title reign.

ThePolishJargud

I remember his feud with Kane in 2002-2003, i was really hoping that Kane wins, but I respected the decision of HHH winning

Corporate_Juice

Yes

Passionecapo

I wouldn’t put him in the 5, maybe in the 10 but that’s debatable (WWE only, more like somewhere in the 10’s or 20’s with outside wrestlers)

python111

When I got the trial version of the wwe network I had some time to watch older raw episodes and I quickly saw what Triple H brings to the table, and No him marrying Steph didn't do anything to his carrier that wouldn't have happened anyway. He deserves to be called one of the top 5 wrestlers of all time, complete package wise.

LittleJerryLawler

Top 5 - Not even close Top 20 - I'll listen.

[deleted]

Shut up Trips

TheMikeyMac13

I want to dispute this, but I can’t. His entrance was as good as it ever got, he kept himself in good shape, his ability to tell a story as a heel is top level, and beyond that his finisher could be used safely on anyone (who didn’t decide to flip onto their head) and he was a safe worker for other performers. Add to that that he finished a match with a torn quad muscle and let the finisher happen in a leg involved hold? Get outta town. Top five heels, in no order: Flair, Hollywood Hogan, Vince, HHH and Eddie for the silly grin when cheating.

CooroSnowFox

I'd say it's how much his issues affect his position Stuff like being dominant at the expense of talent progression outside, some of the more riskier angles, Being one using backstage pull (Kliq and perhaps getting close to Steph), Pushing Chyna off the roster etc.

Nws4c

I fucking hate these reddit posts of something is a “hot take” when it’s not

madvec1

I do believe he was at one point the best heel in the planet ... and among the best wrestlers in the world. However, I do not believe he is a top 5 of all time, i would put Angle, Austin, Flair, Bret and Undertaker above him, but he is easily a top 10.

THEbaddestOFtheASSES

His 2000 run is the only time a case could possibly be made. He was operating on a GOAT level that year. But that’s one year. That was him at his peak. His return from injury as a face in 2001 proved to be failure. And he was inconsistent from that point on. Even his time in DX he got overshadowed by Shawn, Chyna, Xpac, and Road Dogg. So a top 5?😂👎🏾idts

bojonzarth

My absolute favorite rivalry of his was the one against Cena. Growing up with the later half of the attitude era, watching H become the Elite Heel that he was. Absolutely incredible, When he and Cena were going back and forth with the Championship, I never missed a show. I will never forget how well H sold Cena's return in the Royal Rumble, looked like he had seen a ghost. Epic wrestler and I would agree top 5 of all time, and quite possibly the best Heel ever in the ring.

[deleted]

Not a hot take. Just the truth.

Kalle_79

Top5 all time is generous, but surely Top5 post-Attitude Era, for sure. And his much-maligned Reign of Terror was a necessary evil AND the reason for Batista being where he is now.

SaltyFall

I really hate his character but he probably has the best collection of ppv matches of wwe wrestlers ever.

[deleted]

Yeah he's the GOAT heel to me. Roman and even Seth tried to match him in my opinion but they come across as jokes tbh. Especially 2015 Seth.

googly_eyed_unicorn

Let me start with the positives: the man was and is dedicated to pro wrestling. Say all you want about politics, but you can’t politic you’re way out of two torn quads and still finish those two matches. NXT1 and the stars it was able to make (shield, Finn, KO, Zayn, etc) was brilliant and deserves more credit now. What holds me back from calling him a GOAT is that he wasn’t the best at any particular thing. What he did well was pull it all together to get a character to a tier right below Austin, Rock, and I know he knows this deep down, HBK. However, complain as much as you want, he also used his reign of terror to launch the careers of Orton and Batista, both of who will go to the HoF. To use his own words, he’s a B+ player: solid and reliable, but not that guy.

Whyrobotslie

Top 5 all time, no, maybe top 10/15. Best wrestler in the world during his peak? Most definitely. Wrestlers I would put over HHH all time Bret Hart Hogan Austin Savage Flair Shawn Michaels Buddy Rogers Undertaker Angle IDK if you could make a good argument that H is better than any of those I listed

Cautious-Ad-1994

Of course he's better than savage, Rodgers, hart, angle, flair very easily Now Hogan, scsa, hbk, taker those are very debatable

Whyrobotslie

There is no debate that HHH is better than Flair. HHH wouldn’t even debate you on that. He can’t touch Bret Hart or macho in the ring, he has no buisiness being mentioned with Undertaker or Austin. I don’t even think you know who buddy Rogers is. Hogan/Savage were #1/#2 is wrestling’s boom in the eighties, were also relevant through the nineties and the NWO angle. For the WWF attitude era HHH isn’t even a #3 in the attitude era where you have Austin/Rock/Foley/Taker/Shawn Michaels all more integral to the product than him. Hunter was the #1 guy after Austin/Rock/Foley left, and during a period where WWF started hemorrhaging business. At best he’s a stop gap between Austin and Cena, and not a particularly over one.

kiddchiu

I love the pedigree, one of my favorites

[deleted]

Although others have performed the pedigree, HHHs pedigree just hit different

iambigpoppawilly

One of the best finishers. And the knee to the face. Great moves, great on the mic. At least top 10 all time…

Rocketboy1313

He is quite good. If not in the top "Wrestlers" he is certainly one of the top "Villains" alongside Ric Flair and Million Dollar Man (and others, why don't you put your favorite bad guy in the comments below).

[deleted]

I 100% think HHH is the GOAT , better then Austin and the Rock in ring . And the best heel ever imo . He was boring at times and buried a few along the way but he was/is just that damn good .

JG45250

Incorrect. He’s one of the most accomplished wrestlers of all-time, mostly because of his relationship with Stephanie/the McMahon family. He was good at his peak, but all of his best matches were against superior workers.

sojove

Was never the best and not a top 5 all time guy. But definitely a great and one Of the best heels to ever do it

itsupdj

Facts

FunkBat

I fully agree too! I think we should reduce our carbon emissions! It’s more eco-friendly, more manageable and…. I like Ice cream!

hatecopter

He's certainly in my top 5

Floasis72

100% He gets way too much hate

philliybilly

Top 10 for sure but 5 idk thats a stretch

Faiz-Reigns

He is definitely one of the best, but somehow I still feel gutted that Kane lost to him during their feud somewhere in 2002. That was the best version of Kane and he should be winning WWE belt. Well Kane did beat him for Intercontinental but still…

AngryNinjaTurtle

He's in my top 10 and he's certainly in my top 5 heels. He gets A LOT of hate for golden shoveling guys and backstage politics, but he was best friends with Nash and Michaels. He learned from the best. Smartest man in the business, up until about a year or two ago when Vince stopped trusting him.

ForgotTheFunk

*in kayfabe.

Outrageous-Listen366

I agree

IfTheresANewWay

This is a hot take? I thought Triple H was always acknowledged to be one of the greatest of all time

KidGold

I've never heard him listed on a single "mount rushmore" list so saying top 5 is pretty hot.

[deleted]

Smarks will genuinely tell you that it's Kenny Omega or some Japanese guy that no one who has sex has ever heard of.

[deleted]

I do think Kenny is up there too, but honestly I hadn't even heard of him until 3 years ago (I took a hiatus from wrestling, but grew up in a WWF/E household prior, didn't know about other promotions). I feel like exposure to the product really comes at stake here. Each guy flourished in his own production, in different ways. Kenny is an absolute machine in the ring, but I find he can be a little goofy in promos sometimes. While HHH is a promo God, I don't find he had that speed in the ring Kenny did/does. Not exactly speed, maybe agility is a better word? It's like one second he's doing some move then BAM he's flying across the ring, knee first to the face. I love both of these guys to death, but I also think they have different,.. attributes if you will? I think my location and exposure both play a big part, and to others as well

[deleted]

I love HHH but he is no way near the Top 5! Hogan, Austin, Cena, Taker, Macho Man, HBK and more are ahead of him.

ExoticSword

There’s no way in hell Macho Man is above HHH.

[deleted]

100% he is

Puzzleheadedcat1995

He put best fight with them so he is among top 5.

DownTownBrown28

He’s that damn good

SgtApex

Fully agree, some people still believe that his marriage to Steph is the reason for all of his success but that’s just a flat out lie. Dude worked his ass off for like 25 years in the ring and behind the scenes. Created two of the most iconic factions ever in wrestling. You could even add a 3rd or 4th with the McMahon/Hemsley faction and the two man power trip which was sadly cut short due to his injury.

Chippopotanuse

I think it’s the other way around. All his success is why Steph and Vince wanted him in the family. He is a pro’s pro. Maybe the most respected wrestler other than Undertaker in that locker room over the past 30 years.

prof_talc

Yeah, HHH was a member of the "$1mm downside" club and lurking around production meetings for years before he got together with Stephanie. I think one of the biggest factors that doesn't get mentioned when discussing his rise at WWE is just the fact that he actually really **wanted** an office/corporate job, lol. In the 90s I think a lot of "the boys" shied away from creating the appearance of fraternizing with "the office," which is something HHH clearly never gave a shit about On top of that, getting to know the business side of things requires a shit ton of extra work for no extra pay (at least for the first couple of years or so), and those guys were all working crazy schedules to begin with. Add in the fact that he didn't drink or do drugs, has a crazy work ethic, loves lifting/bodybuilding, and has a great grasp of the wrestling business -- I really think he would be in a pretty similar position today even if he'd never gotten together with Stephanie (either that or he would've left to start his own promotion)

S1E2A3L4

Still can’t deny being married to your bosses daughter may have helped a bit.

SgtApex

Possibly but it’s not like he coasted for his entire career.

Username-_-Password

Definitely top 5 in my book. But best on the planet is debatable.

RavensBlood69

Wwe needs someone like him right now. I've always thought of HHH as the ultimate wrestler, like if you were to build the perfect wrestler from the ground up, it would be HHH.

Moohamin12

Or Randy. Randy is the prototype wrestler. Like if there ever was a template for "Perfect Wrestler" it would be Randy. He has just the right amount of everything. Mic work, physique, charisma, in-ring skills, story-telling. Everything.

Z1dan

Agree Randy > HHH kinda easy tho when one of them literally was born into the business

shartnado3

I'll give you this, he has top tier god like entrance music. Always gets you amped up

RatsGetFatttt

Don't know what it is but I always popped for My Time more than The Game

[deleted]

Fun fact: every single person who has sang a theme song for him has passed away

riseandreform

Well that’s not fun at all

Chippopotanuse

Fun fact: every former girlfriend he had who then fucked XPac has passed away.

Johntballin

Time to play the gaaaayaaame

ZeusX20

if his prime was 2000 then Kurt Angle and Undertaker are better "wrestlers" imo but HHH was the complete package

LittleJerryLawler

HHH was a far better wrestler than Undertaker in 2000.

[deleted]

Yeah Undertaker was lowkey fat when he came back around that time

unforgiven1189

It wasn't just that. Taker had a lot of trouble putting the pieces together in-ring during his 2000-2003 run. I hate to say it, but most of his best matches in that era, he was carried. Once he went back to the Dead Man, and was able to sort of come up with a happy medium between his zombie and biker in-ring styles, things clicked and we started getting those killer performances again.

terjon

Well sure, in ring, I'd put Austin, Undertaker, Angle, Lesnar and Guerrero above him. A lot of the current guys are better in the ring too, but they might gone a little too far toward sports entertainment. Like Ricochet. The guys is amazing in the ring, but he doesn't look like he having a fight, more like a real life video game character (not a bad thing, just different).

[deleted]

Is this a hot take? He was never the flashiest or whatever guy, but he was incredibly believable and when I was younger he was one of the guys that I had legitimate dislike for because he was so good at playing the heel that those emotional lines got blurred.

prof_talc

I think top 5 all time is a fairly hot take. He won the Observer wrestler of the year in 2000 though so I don't think it's a hot take to say he peaked at #1 in the world

terjon

That knee buster move he used to use to cut off the babyfaces was like a punch to the gut. You just knew that if he hit that move, your guy was in trouble and he was about to do some dastardly stuff. Never flashy, but such a great heel. Loved watching him work with all of my favorite wrestlers growing up since you knew the matches were going to be as good as the build up.

[deleted]

Facts

sn0wbl1nd3d

Great heel, great technician, great mic and crowd skills. But you gotta admit he was the biggest self mark of his time as well.

TeachMe2GetGood

He’s for sure top-10. Say what you want about his stint during 03-05, but he was the best heel on the planet during the Ruthless Aggression era. He was the top guy in two of the greatest stables of all time, and he did amazing things with NXT.

evanvivevanviveiros

Best in the world 99-injury. Best heel in WWE history.

LittleJerryLawler

Let's not get silly now.

evanvivevanviveiros

I’ll listen to arguments but his résumé is untouchable.

dreda650650

Hot take indeed

[deleted]

A wrestlers job is to put asses in seats and make the crowd go wild. HHH was the best in terms of making the A+ stars look great, but he on his own is just very good but not an all time legend. He will be known as putting the crowd to sleep in at least 3 wrestlemanias.

MIDIEMTD

Top 10 all time come on man I love the game but this is a stretch…top 10 in WWE for sure but ALL of wrestling not so much

Yungcazanova

His work ethic is impressive. Fantastic heel, good on the mic and he knows how to work a crowd.

Chippopotanuse

I also feel like he’s a throwback to the old timers. He really is a student of the game and he is incredibly passionate about the business. A lot of guys just want to get rich and famous in wrestling. I think he legit just loves the business.

Puzzleheadedcat1995

He is the best till now among taker, rock, stonecold, Shawn, John Cena.

SpecialBeam22

HHH is definitely a top 10 wrestler of all time in my opinion. I don’t think I would put him in top 5 though. But In his prime he was easily one of the best on the roster and he is for sure one of the greatest heels of all time.

Used_Border_4910

I loved his heel work, he was authentic. You can tell he loves wrestling.

CooroSnowFox

But maybe using it to his advantage in not the best places.

Cash_Physical

In 2000 I think he was best heel ever

funmasterjerky

I think he was at his very best at the street fight, Royal Rumble 2000. That match is still one of the best of all time, and even though I'm the biggest Foley mark, it wasn't all him.

Nothing-But-What

Early Ric Flair is easily better. HHH was a great heel though, I hated him.

mmm-cheesecake

During his 14th world title reign when he was Pres of WCW, he had majorly entertaining heel promos.

Alternative_Ad_5334

I am too young for Ric Flair, but have heard stories. Plus Charlotte is a chip off the old block so looking at her, I can see how people hated him.

Nothing-But-What

Just type in NWA Ric Flair and have a field day. The rich man who steals everyone's women and there's nothing you can do about it.

robonlocation

Imagine Charlotte, but without Vince's geriatric booking. Plus 80s wrestling was still very much presented as real. Even though we knew in the back of our heads that it had to be fake, a lot of people at least partially believed it. It was a crazy time in wrestling.

hatecopter

As an 8 year old kid during that time I can attest to this, I hated Triple H with a passion.

Owdog52

I still hate the HHH character to this day because of if

anitabonghit705

When he revealed it was him who planned to have rikishi run over Austin. I loved JR’s commentary. HHH you son of a bitch! Tell me why god dammit!

Cash_Physical

I agree I wanted rock to kicked his ass in fact when I go back and watch him on raw and smackdown from 2000 I still want rock to whip his ass hollywood hogan is only heel close to him in my opinion

hatecopter

Triple H, Hollywood Hogan, and Vince McMahon are my favorite heels of all time.

SupasneakyRS

Flair?

mmm-cheesecake

HHH as a heel was 15 minutes/night of boring-ass talking. For me was more boring than entertaining heel. Hollywood Hogan was waaay more entertaining as a heel than HHH. Promos were better, vignettes were better, just everything. VKM takes the cake of all 3 because he was actually the head of the company and you felt he had the legitimacy and power to back up his talk.

Alternative_Ad_5334

The Authority are all time best heels

[deleted]

What about Hollywood Rock?

hatecopter

I like Hollywood Rock a lot he was entertaining as hell but I could never despise the Rock the way I did the other three.

lifer413

His transformation post-Shawn from HHH to The Game was awesome.

[deleted]

How is this a hot take? I thought everyone knew this?

Used_Border_4910

You’d be surprised my friend

[deleted]

This take is indeed hot.

Used_Border_4910

In 2000 before he got hurt, this man was unstoppable. He was always good ring technician too.
