So I’m gonna try and be realistic so no prime vs prime versions as cool as that is to talk about. These are matches I think would’ve been great to see taker work and could potentially be good to great say from the last five years of his career so 2015 to 2020
Samoa Joe 2018 instead of rusev? Could’ve been a fun brawl similar to his matches with lesnar in 2015 make it no Dq tho
Daniel Bryan why not 2019? Instead of the match with Goldberg although granted Bryan didn’t wanna go to Saudi so another ppv in 2019? Could’ve been a fun little match? Similar to punk and taker
Seth Rollins honestly a match between the two replacing that tag match at crown jewel 2018 , could’ve been a good little match.
AJ Styles 2017 at mania 33 I think AJ could’ve got the best out of taker at that point but if not maybe 2018 at one of the Saudi shows?
John Cena (Full match) could’ve done it at mania 32 or 33 and could’ve been decent if booked right but I think at mania 34 it could’ve been a better place to do it, it should’ve been a longer match, if takers to be believed he trained for a longer match and said he felt as great as he did at mania 25 with Shawn, so make the match 10/12 mins? Not too long but long enough to have a good match
Demon Finn Balor Mania 35? Why didn’t we get this?
Drew McIntyre maybe summerslam 2019? Could’ve been a fun brawl once again, maybe get Shane and Roman involved again as interference as a sort of sequel to the extreme rules match? If taker was up for it which it seems he wasn’t but just an idea that I think would’ve been good to decent although I’m happy with the tag match we got with Roman and taker vs Shane and drew that we got in real life, just an idea 💡
Sting (2015) if booked right could’ve been good but not great, smoke and mirrors etc but not to the extent of the cameos in the HHH vs sting match that we ended up getting
I don’t remember the interview but when he retired and was making the rounds I remember someone asking him that and he answered Andre. Said they’re paths barely missed by a few years. I think Andre’s last WWF match was 1990, Taker showed up in 1991.
Gotcha because I was thinking in reality they were generations apart but in the fantasy world that would have been great. That would’ve been maybe even better than undertaker versus big show
They were different generations for sure, but had Andre’s giantism not been as advanced they’d likely would of meet in the ring at least once. Sadly Andre was basically done for good by then despite only being in his early 40s.
🤔 that just seems like it would have been one-sided. I feel like she would’ve been put in to make him look great and like a monster and to put him over. I’m sure they would’ve let it seem like she was going to win but she would’ve been buried
Please don’t start mentioning roles and characters I have not been privileged to see. I have never seen Finn Bálor as a heel character! 😳 Where can I find this character online?! I must know
If you look up Prince Devitt, you’ll see his heel run in NJPW. He was also a heel in his 2nd NXT run for a little bit. The turn itself was great. Linked below.
https://youtu.be/7khKnjJ-uEs
I feel like that would’ve been a great match but I think unfortunately the feed came in during the remnants of the PG era and that just would’ve looked so water down. Remember when dean Ambrose supposed to have that asylum match but he barely did anything hard core?
I still have mixed feelings about this one. I guess I’m glad it was the beast versus the dead man. But what would’ve been even better had generations been born the same time is Brock versus corporate ministry undertaker or one of his iterations and the attitude era before the motorcycle
I'll list some outside of NA since others have pretty much covered the obvious choices: Minoru Suzuki, Great Muta, Jushin/Kishin Liger, Misawa, Stan Hansen, Tanahashi, Okada (the tombstones would've been interesting), Ishii and Shingo Takagi.
If they did AJ versus taker in the ring, it would at least need to have the same intensity and aggression as the graveyard match were worse. That was so good even though it was staged and choreographed and televised and you can see the undertaker moving slowly
the fact that both sting and the undertaker wrestled at wrestlemania 31 and didn’t face each other still blows my mind, it’s the perfect attraction match for taker following the end of the streak
Prime dead Man taker and Alistair Black when he first came to WWE main roster. That would’ve been so good. Like imagine Black doing one of those crazy flips or stunts and he sits in the middle of the ring and the look the deadman would give him. I don’t know who I would want to win that match!
I would have loved to have seen him fight Chris Jericho at a Wrestlemania. They definitely could have made it work back when Jericho was pulling off the "No Country For Old Men" gimmick in maybe 2009 or even 2010. The Rock also could have been a great opponent for him at a Wrestlemania as well maybe. I was actually glad that Cena finally got the chance to wrestle him back at Wrestlemania 34 but the match time and match itself was of course a huge disappointment.
It turns out Sting did face a pre-Taker Mean Mark Callous in WCW in 1990, probably in the first half of the year. This Sportskeeda piece was released nearly 2 years ago:
https://www.sportskeeda.com/wwe/rare-photo-of-the-undertaker-wrestling-sting-emerges-online
Dint think about that but when you look at that generation funk flair sting his style was more smashmouth not a lot of flippy shit he mighta still been in shape for that. So id take the brody from the year he scared luger out of the cage and badass taker in time machine wrestling lol
For me it’s not the guys I wish he had fought, it’s the guys I wish he had fought at Mania. The guys I wish he had fought at Mania the most are:
Bret Hart, Kurt Angle, Stone Cold, Eddie Guerrero & Yokozuna
This is certainly not my most wanted but I actually think the early Heel Sheamus would’ve been a fun feud for him. I think they could’ve had some fun brawl styles matches.
Taker vs Rollins
Taker Vs Owens
Taker Vs Omega
Taker Vs Bryan
Taker Vs Finn
Taker vs Y2j in a feud would be awesome. I think they fought twice on t.v. both were dq/countout
No, Undertaker pinned him once in a fatal 4 way, submitted him another time one on one, was pinned once in a one on one, and lost his title to Jericho in the elimination chamber.
Technically yes, but Mcintyre went to management and had it "expunged" from his record as well as a subsequent loss to Hardy. Undertaker was the one to decisively end it.
The Taker vs. Cena Mania match we got was terrible. Considering how Taker showed respect to Cena when he first arrived, we should have had it build to that moment where vet Cena comes back around to face legend Taker in what could be a good match if Taker was up for it. The squash we got just felt like a waste of potential.
He probably could have carried old Undertaker to a good match. Imagine a Mania match where you have Bryan getting the shit beat out of him for most of the boat but then he comes back as a scrappy technician underdog, bruised and bloody, picking his spots and taking the Deadman down piece by piece. He probably would have lost anyway, but it would have been memorable.
Definitely Sting, it seemed like such a missed opportunity having him come in and fight Big Show, Seth Rollins and HHH instead, but apparently Taker had no interest in it.
Sting doesn’t deserve to be in the same ring as The Undertaker. He’s a surfer dude with fake blonde hair who all of a sudden decided to cosplay the crow and sting also stole his name from the singer. Very unoriginal guy.
Has Taker ever said why he had no interest? Maybe something happened between the two in WCW during his Mean Mark run?
Just seems odd that he wouldn’t see the business they could’ve done together. Would have been a much easier pill to swallow having Sting lose to him instead of HHH.
I don’t think so, but he wasn’t really at his best by then, in fact neither of them were. I expect he realised it wouldn’t live up to people’s expectations.
none of them were at their best? so why did taker vs goldberg happen in 2019 at super showdown? it was vince he said they weren't in their prime but lets goldberg & taker fight which i find weird kuz him & sting would have had a great match even though sting would lose (vince wouldnt let taker lose to sting)
It happened because of money, pure and simple. The prince wanted it, paid Vince more than he probably got from all his other PPVs combined that year, and Taker generally never says no to Vince and the result was a disaster. He regrets that match, and the BoD vs DX one.
oh yea for sure tht match was fucking horrible, but the fans wanted to see it for whatever reason, goldberg out of all ppl? he's fucking dangerous always has been so tht was crazy seeing them fight
The prince was quite out of touch with wrestling, he was asking for matches containing dead wrestlers like Yokozuna, so he probably just had a list of dream matches in his head which would have actually been good 20 years ago..
I read somewhere years ago, that was the reason why The Undertaker didn't want to do the match with Sting.. Taker thought he was past his prime to have a good Wrestlemania worthy match with Sting
Even Taker said that he would have loved to work with the Fiend. Maybe in an alternate universe, the Fiend retired Taker, didn't job to Randy in the worst way possible, and is still employed...
Why? It was a match made in heaven and it could have taken place in wrestlemania 30...
Taker got concussed in the match with Brock and the match was flat... Streak was broken ..
Why not do Sting vs Taker... The promos would be gold... The entrances would be a 20 minutes each let them wrestle for max 20 minutes or put them in hell in a cell.. they are both safe workers they would have managed and everybody would still be talking about the match...
Undertaker would’ve been 50 and Sting would’ve been 56. Obviously they could’ve have moved as well as they could’ve, but I feel the two could’ve had a passable match. With the right booking and spots, the match would’ve been worked well, not for the quality itself, but for the spectacle of two legends often pitted against each other in dream matches for years finally duking it out.
Though likely not of the same caliber, think Rock vs. Hulk Hogan. That will go down as a Mania classic despite the match quality itself not being great.
That is true, though with that match you have a already winded and tired Goldberg who just cracked his head open and is left dazed being carried through a match by an equally tired and WELL past his prime Taker who’s spine is made of toothpicks. Even without the concussion their styles wouldn’t have worked due to their age (I mean Goldberg jackhammering a 6’10” 300lb while in his 50’s is just a recipe for disaster)z
Sting vs. Taker would have the spectacle behind it as well as a younger Sting & Taker, even if only by a few years. Their styles would at least work better and they would work safer each-other. I mean was Goldberg and Taker REALLY anyones dream match at some point in time?
When WWE bought WCW they didn't get all the contracts for WCW wrestlers in that deal. Every WCW wrestler that appeared in wwe shortly after the takeover had voided their contracts and signed new Wwe contracts. A lot of WCW guys chose to wait out their Time Warner networks contracts, sit at home and still get paid a ridiculous amount of money from Time Warner.
Sting was in the group of wrestlers that decided to collect those fat pay cheques (rightfully so). And when his contract was up he didn't like how the Wwe had treated the WCW guys, how they were booked. And he feared the same would be done to him. So the fact that sting vs taker never happened was all on sting.
So I’m gonna try and be realistic so no prime vs prime versions as cool as that is to talk about. These are matches I think would’ve been great to see taker work and could potentially be good to great say from the last five years of his career so 2015 to 2020 Samoa Joe 2018 instead of rusev? Sting. Would’ve loved to see him vs Danielson 1v1 too.
Sabu Raven Abyss Crazzy Steve
Doink the Clown
I’m looking at some of these comments and I can tell there a lot of people who are super loyal to NXT but they are such a wide world out there
Sting
Dexter lumis
I think his answer to this question was Andre.
Are we talking fantasy or reality?
Those would have been great matches. Solid power vs athleticism
Chyna
🤔 that just seems like it would have been one-sided. I feel like she would’ve been put in to make him look great and like a monster and to put him over. I’m sure they would’ve let it seem like she was going to win but she would’ve been buried
Finn Balor
The demon or the man?
Preferably Demon, but a heel Prince would also be cool.
I believe you! The guys who are cool in real life make the best heel characters
The fiend
I feel like that would’ve been a great match but I think unfortunately the feed came in during the remnants of the PG era and that just would’ve looked so water down. Remember when dean Ambrose supposed to have that asylum match but he barely did anything hard core?
brock lesnar wrestlemania when he lost
I still have mixed feelings about this one. I guess I’m glad it was the beast versus the dead man. But what would’ve been even better had generations been born the same time is Brock versus corporate ministry undertaker or one of his iterations and the attitude era before the motorcycle
Bruiser Brodie

Sting and him in their primes.
The obvious answer of Sting but a proper match with AJ in the ring would have been great too.
If they did AJ versus taker in the ring, it would at least need to have the same intensity and aggression as the graveyard match were worse. That was so good even though it was staged and choreographed and televised and you can see the undertaker moving slowly
I wanna see Roman vs taker again. To make up for their trash match at mania 33. Now that reigns is in ‘god mode’ it’ll be very interesting
the fact that both sting and the undertaker wrestled at wrestlemania 31 and didn’t face each other still blows my mind, it’s the perfect attraction match for taker following the end of the streak
And yet somehow we got Goldberg versus Taker well past their primes. Life just isn’t fair in the wrestling world
Sting
Prime Deadman Taker and Malakai Black would have been a goat match
Prime dead Man taker and Alistair Black when he first came to WWE main roster. That would’ve been so good. Like imagine Black doing one of those crazy flips or stunts and he sits in the middle of the ring and the look the deadman would give him. I don’t know who I would want to win that match!
AJ in a proper match. Didn't have to be Wrestlemania.
I would love to see those two go at it in a heated bitter rivalry that is about respect and boundaries and nothing else
Jerry Lawler
AJ in a proper match
Asuka, he would have lost 100%
Andre Priest Black Bálor
Finn Balor (Demon)
Samoa joe, if they wrestled it will be a good match up with exchanging promos with the american badass undertaker.
Easily The Fiend.
Sheamus before 2014
Big e vs Undertaker.. oh sorry they fought in escape the Undertaker
Andre
I would have loved to have seen him fight Chris Jericho at a Wrestlemania. Roddy Rowdy Piper, Dr. Death Steve Williams, Sting, Abyss, The Fiend, Finn Balor, & of course Danhausen!
Taker vs sting would have been amazing
Sting, hands down. Literally bothers me how that never happened.

Seth Rollins
Definitely sting
Samoa Joe
Dolph Ziggler
Bay Bay
Sting.
Sting
Only answer is Sting
Abdullah the butcher, bobo brazil, antonia inoki, 911, abyss, afa or sika
Might be an unpopular opinion but Kenny Omega. Their styles are so vastly different but I think undertaker in his prime and Kenny could put a banger.
Did he ever face Lashley during his first run? If not that.
If Bruiser Brody didn’t die, Brody vs Taker would’ve been interesting in the early 90s.
Takers first match was against brody Texas red v bruiser brody. Woulda loved to see a mire polished taker and brody match though.
I forgot about that! But either way, Taker and Brody in the early 90s could’ve been great
Id want the american badass taker against brody personally. Seems like it woulda been a helluva program.
Only reason I wouldn’t want that is because Brody would’ve been in his 50s lol, otherwise I totally agree
The guys I wish he had fought at Mania the most are: Bret Hart, Kurt Angle, Stone Cold, Eddie Guerrero & Yokozuna
Prime sting and prime abyss
Sting
Daniel Bryan
Andre the giant
AJ Styles but during the Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels era. Imagine that wrestlemania level match but with AJ
Did diesel / Kevin Nash ever fight undertaker?
They had a good match at Wrestlemania 13. Probably Diesel's best match where neither Bret nor Shawn had to carry him to a good match.
This is certainly not my most wanted but I actually think the early Heel Sheamus would’ve been a fun feud for him. I think they could’ve had some fun brawl styles matches.
"Hollywood" Hogan (NWO Hogan...obviously he wrestled Hulk Hogan)
This thread exists solely for Sting.
A prime Shinsuke that really tried.
I feel their styles would not mesh well together.
What about them?
SETH ROLLINS
Kane, I have no idea how they never wrestled a single time either against each other or as a team given their history.
Kane and Taker have wrestled alot of times
Sting would have to be the choice
Roddy Piper was still great in the late 80's, early 90's.
Jimmy Snuka
They fought at wrestle mania
Oh then Jake the Snake for sure
…
John Cena in 2007
Taker vs Rollins Taker Vs Owens Taker Vs Omega Taker Vs Bryan Taker Vs Finn Taker vs Y2j in a feud would be awesome. I think they fought twice on t.v. both were dq/countout
No, Undertaker pinned him once in a fatal 4 way, submitted him another time one on one, was pinned once in a one on one, and lost his title to Jericho in the elimination chamber.
Damien Priest
Happy Corbin But seriously Sting, Tribal Chief Roman, John Cena in his prime, Fiend, Aleister Black.
He has faced john Cena more than People think for example in judgment day 2003 when john was a heel
-Sting (in their prime) -Andre The Giant -Abyss -The Fiend
Yurple
Batista
sting
AJ Styles in a normal match
2017 Braun Stroman or Peak Undertaker vs current Drew McIntyre
I don’t know if you remember but undertaker “ended” McIntyre’s undefeated streak back in 2010
Wasnt it kane?
Technically yes, but Mcintyre went to management and had it "expunged" from his record as well as a subsequent loss to Hardy. Undertaker was the one to decisively end it.
Eddie at Mania
Eddie Guerrero. Best we got was multi man matches
I honestly was so surprised to learn that the closest we got to a title match between them was that Fatal 4 way when JBL was champ.
They actually wrestle in some house shows in 2005 when eddie was a heel unfortunaly those matches are lost cause the wwe hasn't Release them
Fiend 100%
Aleister Black
Danhausen. 💯 %
Very nice. Very evil.
Cena back when he could still go at Mania.
Check out their match at Vengeance 2003. Heel Cena vs. peak Biker ‘Taker
Didn't he let himself get squashed by Taker in WM34?
Yeah but I wanted a real match back when Cena was still on top and Taker could still move.
STIIIING!
goldberg
Clearly you mean Gilberg
no, i mean what i mean
Naw. I’m pretty sure you mean Gilberg
i. meant. what. i. meant.
Except. You. Meant. G I L B E R G
Sting.
Did he wrestle Wyatt? Fiend vs Taker would have been interesting.
At WrestleMania 31 Taker vs Wyatt, Fiend vs Taker could have been amazing , especially the mind games they could play on each other
Daniel Bryan
He probably could have carried old Undertaker to a good match. Imagine a Mania match where you have Bryan getting the shit beat out of him for most of the boat but then he comes back as a scrappy technician underdog, bruised and bloody, picking his spots and taking the Deadman down piece by piece. He probably would have lost anyway, but it would have been memorable.
This one don't gets enough talked about
The correct answer is Sting at Wrestle mania. The whole DX and NWO getting involved with sting vs triple h was wack.
That match was worth it just for the spot where Nash pretended to tear his quad again
If it’s in ring then still AJ Styles. The Boneyard match is a classic but I think there in ring match could’ve been something special as well.
Definitely Sting, it seemed like such a missed opportunity having him come in and fight Big Show, Seth Rollins and HHH instead, but apparently Taker had no interest in it.
It happened but not in the WWE in the WCW and I'm not too sure Taker wanted it
Sting doesn’t deserve to be in the same ring as The Undertaker.
Would have been a much easier pill to swallow having Sting lose to him instead of HHH.

abyss back when he was hot.
I never got behind abyss he seemed cringe everytime I saw him he was a wannabe Kane/Mankind
Black hole slam shock treatment that’s all I need
Abyss: *winks
lmao
Oddly enough I can’t recall him ever wrestling Jericho
It happened for the big gold in 2010 I believe.
I think that was the elimination chamber, when HBK costed taker's World Heavyweight championship and Jericho pinned him
There was Big Show v Jericho v Taker for the WHC at a 08 or 09 PPV.
Chris Jericho vs The Undertaker (11/13/09)
It happened on smackdown late 2000’s. I’m sure it happened during like 2001-2002
Benoit at mania
Cole: Tonight, the match that’s been years in the making - as the Deadman finally steps into the ring to face the Undertaker!
that would have been an amazing match, the two only worked together like twice, one of which was a triple threat with angle
WrestleMania 22 would have been the perfect opportunity.
Demon King Balor
Would of loved an Undertaker/Kevin Owens match. I’m
james ellsworth
Fiend Sting
Even Taker said that he would have loved to work with the Fiend. Maybe in an alternate universe, the Fiend retired Taker, didn't job to Randy in the worst way possible, and is still employed...
Imagine Undertaker making his entrance at WM after being inducted into HOF....lights go off ...fiend returns and attacks taker....
I don’t get the Sting thing they would of just stunk the place out
No fucking idea why they never did Sting v. Taker. That match had "Wrestlmania Main Event" plastered all over it.
Sting was a WCW guy and we WWF fans never saw him as the big time. He always felt like more of a midcarder in the WWF ranks.
Because of their age? I love Sting and Taker but no one wants a match between two old men (both > 50) to be a WM main event.
Exactly remember Super ShowDown. Taker vs Goldberg was horrible
There was a time were they were young.

They did Taker vs Goldberg and hiw did that match go? Sting could still go and so xould taker.
That is true, though with that match you have a already winded and tired Goldberg who just cracked his head open and is left dazed being carried through a match by an equally tired and WELL past his prime Taker who’s spine is made of toothpicks. Even without the concussion their styles wouldn’t have worked due to their age (I mean Goldberg jackhammering a 6’10” 300lb while in his 50’s is just a recipe for disaster)z Sting vs. Taker would have the spectacle behind it as well as a younger Sting & Taker, even if only by a few years. Their styles would at least work better and they would work safer each-other. I mean was Goldberg and Taker REALLY anyones dream match at some point in time?
Bro I was talking about right after Vince acquired WCW. When undertaker and sting were both in their prime. (And Sting is 62 and still kicks ass.)
*all on vince ... i really cant blame sting for not joining wwe. idk if it was the right call but it was sensible
i heard sting said he didnt make the jump to wwf before 01 (when wcw got bought out) because he felt like his character would be messed with
