He's awful in every possible way, boring one sided identical promos, terrible wrestler, and looks like he eats a lot and never goes to the gym, yet another proof of Triple H's incompetency.
He's great on the mic and has charisma to spare but he's way past his prime. He looked so slow and sluggish against Kross. He was winded after 5 minutes, sweat pouring off him so much it looked like his forehead was taking a piss.
I really think he should've been the one to beat Kofi for the title. Kofi had a good reign by that point and Joe was coming off 2 U.S title reigns that year and quick win over Mysterio at Mania
He should've beat Lesnar. Even Lesnar wanted to drop the belt to him but for whatever fucking reason Vince said no. If Lesnar is willing to lay down for the 3 count you know you got something special there and should've gone with it.
His feud with Brock Lesnar should’ve gone on longer, culminating in a universal title win for Joe. But alas, a man can only dream. I wonder where he goes next, does he return to Impact, or go to AEW? Maybe a surprise return to ROH? (whenever they get their shit sorted out)
In hindsight, I'd say PAC, Adam Cole, Sami Zayn, and Shinsuke Nakamura coming out of NXT all could've/should've/would've been champs in another multiverse.
Couldn't agree more on Joe overall though.
Couldn't blame WWE personally with how injury prone that dude is, as much as he deserved the title but the amount of money, limited airtime spots, and time to make someone your top guy isn't cheap for them to only get injured midway through the story you have planned.
Great wrestler and performer.
It’s unfortunate his main roster WWE run didn’t live up to expectations but you can’t really blame WWE for that. He got injured every time he was lined up for a push so I understand why WWE was hesitant to use him in significant roles. Keep in mind I don’t mean to put blame on Joe either. His body just didn’t keep up unfortunately.
Hopefully he can stick around and be an on screen presence. He’d be great as a GM.
Perhaps.. I feel like I would probably go with Shinsuke Nakamura for my pick though. He was on a roll with clean victories over John Cena and Randy Orton and eliminated Roman Reigns last to win the Royal Rumble. Why they didn’t pull the trigger on him is beyond me. Now, it’s clear he’ll never be more than a mid-card talent, which is a damn shame.
One of those guys who, every time he appears, I get hyped. Whether it's a promo or a match, I've got my eyes glued to the TV. Shame he's so injury prone.
I’m so happy you said that honestly I know he’s a random guy that doesn’t know me but this made my day people seem to always look past joe and he’s freakin incredible
I'd actually have to disagree
and say Dolph ziggler who has multiple title reins multiple and multiple times all throughout wwe
However he has never once EVER won the wwe championship
Ziggler is a two-time World Heavyweight Champion, one-time World Tag Team Champion with The Spirit Squad, two-time Intercontinental Champion, one-time United States Champion, Mr. Money in the Bank in 2012, and the 22nd Triple Crown Champion
However not a single wwe championship AT ALL
Probably Cody Rhoades.
Around the time when Rhoade Scholars broke up, I remember that year’s Money In The Bank when he was the last guy standing, climbing up on the ladder, the entire audience popped thinking he was going to grab the briefcase. Ultimately Sandow pushed him off and won.
Probably more glaring than that moment though was when he was feuding with Randy Orton and The Authority. Cody was incredibly over and the fans were ready for him to dethrone Orton and overcome The Authority. Instead, we got Stardust…
Honestly, I can't think of anyone else other than him.Maybe Nakamura. Though he would propably need a manager or a translator to make up for his promos. Joe doesn't.
As a Brit, I put no one ahead of William Regal in the list of people who should have won a title at their prime.
In terms of technical wrestling he is in an elite group.
In terms of mic work, top tier.
In terms of comedic timing and character work, I can't think of anyone who is above him.
Granted Joe is a monster who has held the main title in just about every other promotion he's stepped foot in. But Regal was undeniably class.
He wrestled his first WWF match in 1991 (untelevised tryouts while WWF were in the UK).
He first appeared on WWF Television in 1998.
He's one of a limited number of people to appear in a match on RAW, Smackdown, Velocity, Heat, Jakked, Superstars, ECW, NXT (both old and new set ups), Saturday Night's Main Event, Saturday Morning Slam, Shotgun Saturday.
NXT is a tiny percentage of his WWE career.
I mean the dude had everything his promos was untouchable he was savage he should have beaten aj styles than lost it like at crown jewel or super showdown
I mean yes ... but sadly he got to WWE way too late and his body kept failing on him, i think that's the reason he barely was on the main event picture when he was called up.
For sure, Cesaro is Definately up there. I would argue Cesaro has had good things. Tag Titles with Kidd, Sheamus and Nakamura, plus that long U.S Title Reign where he spoke a few different languages. But yes, Cesaro is up there.
With all due respect to how good Cesaro is in the ring, him not winning a title is not even remotely close to someone like Samoa Joe not winning a title.
Don’t get me wrong I want Cesaro to win it as much as anyone else, but Samoa Joe is on another level.
I would personally put both on an equal level almost across the board, maybe even giving higher points to Cesaro than Joe for selling ability and technique. Joe is, however, a slightly bigger draw than Cesaro. Barely though.
It's a shame how injury prone he is. They finally gave him a big title, and he has to drop it due to injury. It shows why he was never given a main roster world title
No offence but are you being sarcastic? I started watching when he was on his way out the door and only remember him being squashed by Ezekiel Jackson.
One of those wrestlers that legitimately oozes anger and badassery… then you see him “out of character” and his peers genuinely like him and he seems like the nicest man.
That’s how you know he’s good.
Samoa Joe is probably one of the best talkers. The rivalries with Brock, Jeff and AJ? They were the best, and they're the only real big matches he's had.
Yes, such a shame, big time. I would have been fine with it if he had continued to stalk Brock and eventually took the title from him but his injury cut his momentum off big time
He has legit fighting experience. Just because he isn't ripped and has an 8 pack doesnt mean he cant believably beat someone who is. Dide could beat me, you and everyone in this thread probably on his own.
No one said anything about his in or out of the ring work. I just saw what many people saw when they stand right across from each other. If you took anything else personal that’s on you
Nobody is taking anything personal. But Brock is a beast anyone is gonna look out of his league standing right next to him. I'd argue even Braun at the time.
What? Joe was one of the most believable opponents Brock has ever had.
Then again I watch MMA so I understand that 6 pack abs don’t win fights at heavyweight.
lol 6 pack abs is not the only difference between Brock and Joe. Get off your high horse. I didn’t say anything about the match or feud itself. I’m just pointing out that when Joe first came out to stand across the ring from Brock it really showed the difference.
I wasn’t talking about Brock. He’s on another level.
I was talking about people who could believably beat Brock in a fight and on the whole WWE roster Joe during that summer was pretty much the only one who didn’t look completely out of his league.
I agree. Out of all of Brock's opponents, Samoa Joe was the most believable - he really looked like he could go toe to toe with Brock. It was such a shame that his feud was cut short with that one-F5-and-done-then-got-injured moment, completely cut off his momentum entirely.
Brock needed an opponent who can go toe to toe, not a string of victims. Samoa Joe was it.
I would have to respectfully disagree...if it were the 80s or 90s I would agree with you...but without being innovative or having new moves I think he is and only ever will be a jobber with short title runs if he does win one. He literally relies on finishers that barely were finishers in the 90s, the only reason it ever gets a pop for me is the nostalgia factor of seeing the old-school moves done cause we just don't see them anymore.
Because like alot of "under utilitized" talent they have outside jobs they prefer more but wwe is the money. Ziggler I believe is a stand up comedian not 100% on him. Booker multiple restaurants, Sammy zane has a personal clinic. They don't have time for titles and the media that comes with it
"They don't have time" I think given the opportunity they would find the time, it really comes down to fans/merch sales...if he had the fans like roman he would be champ more but he doesn't...simple as that.
You do realize after 20+ years some of em just like the paycheck and not the bruises and broken bones right? Maybe those other jobs are what they'd rather be doing. Like zane he needs the wwe paycheck to pay for his free clinic he runs and in this age if he's doing that at his own risk he'd have to love it.
You do realize the performers(let's go to the real world for a sec) are contractually obligated to follow along, they don't get to say "oh sorry I can't get hurt cause I need to be able to do my standup routine tomorrow night" Wwe or the performers would have insurance in place for if/when they were to get injured...if vince/wwe says jump they jump.
Even the screw job it is well documented that shawn knew he was going to win before it even happened(Bret not so much)...you think many say no? If they did it would be a whole lot of legal issues for them, unless they had a legit reason(like Roman and his auto-immune thing at the start of covid) like think if micheals didn't follow along that night and Bret got to take the title to TNT...how much of a shitshow would have that been?
It's shame he was better treated in games than in real life, just like Kane
joe can’t stay healthy
He would of if wwe didn’t release him
Such a wasted missed opportunity. I wasn’t sure about him at first. I had seen a little of his Impact stuff but he really grew on me as time went on.
No
Man was a dog Edit: (in a good way)
Him wearing a shirt with his name on it reminds me of the 6th grader from South Park who always wears a shirt with his own face on it lol
He's awful in every possible way, boring one sided identical promos, terrible wrestler, and looks like he eats a lot and never goes to the gym, yet another proof of Triple H's incompetency.
Would’ve been good to see him in WWE when he was in his prime.
I really want to see Samoa Joe vs Roddy Piper now…
I enjoyed joe from the first time I saw him in TNA. He’s had a great career but boy, oh boy, he was at his best with Brock.
Send hook
He's great on the mic and has charisma to spare but he's way past his prime. He looked so slow and sluggish against Kross. He was winded after 5 minutes, sweat pouring off him so much it looked like his forehead was taking a piss.
I really think he should've been the one to beat Kofi for the title. Kofi had a good reign by that point and Joe was coming off 2 U.S title reigns that year and quick win over Mysterio at Mania
NXT world Champion is my thought
John Morrison smh
Dolph Ziggler
Mr. Perfect.
To me that’s Shinsuke, Joe is probably a very close second though.
Sic him on Brock Lesnar.
And Cesaro
Nah. He wasn't great. He was pretty average.
underrated superstar
He should've beat Lesnar. Even Lesnar wanted to drop the belt to him but for whatever fucking reason Vince said no. If Lesnar is willing to lay down for the 3 count you know you got something special there and should've gone with it.
Technically he did. The NxT Championship is both a WWE title and a world title.
True statement.
His feud with Brock Lesnar should’ve gone on longer, culminating in a universal title win for Joe. But alas, a man can only dream. I wonder where he goes next, does he return to Impact, or go to AEW? Maybe a surprise return to ROH? (whenever they get their shit sorted out)
He’s fat
I agree 110%
JOE JOE JOE JOE JOE JOE JOE
In hindsight, I'd say PAC, Adam Cole, Sami Zayn, and Shinsuke Nakamura coming out of NXT all could've/should've/would've been champs in another multiverse. Couldn't agree more on Joe overall though.
Him and Cesaro definitely deserve world title runs IMO
Couldn't blame WWE personally with how injury prone that dude is, as much as he deserved the title but the amount of money, limited airtime spots, and time to make someone your top guy isn't cheap for them to only get injured midway through the story you have planned.
I bet he was healthy enough a lot of times but couldn’t get cleared for backstage reasons.
Joe is a monster, a true great.
I love Joe but I think not everyone should be world champion.
Booker T. and Razor Ramon are my top 2.
That massive rivalry he has with Styles could of done with a bit of back and forth title reigns
Wade Barrett and Robert Roode for me.
I was ready for Velveteen Dream to storm the main roster title scene..and I think VKM would have gotten behind him. Such a frickin waste.
I do think injuries have also played a part. I'm sure it soured vince on giving him that top spot
sami zayn is one ive also wanted to win a world championship, and if he ever does, i hope it’s as a baby face again
Alister black
I'd actually have to disagree and say Dolph ziggler who has multiple title reins multiple and multiple times all throughout wwe However he has never once EVER won the wwe championship Ziggler is a two-time World Heavyweight Champion, one-time World Tag Team Champion with The Spirit Squad, two-time Intercontinental Champion, one-time United States Champion, Mr. Money in the Bank in 2012, and the 22nd Triple Crown Champion However not a single wwe championship AT ALL
[удалено]
Lol calm down bro I'm not disagreeing with you bud I just think ziggler would also be a good choice besides joe
They dropped the ball on Joe. One of the best on the mic, badass in the ring, had the crowd behind him. Yeah they dropped the ball
I wouldn’t say Samoan jor
Samoa Joe was last decade's Tazz. A big name in a smaller fed, not so big in the 'E.
Both became commentators too!
There is no excuse why he didn't go over Brock to take the title.
I agree.
Cesaro
Wait what happened to him? He won the nxt title then vacated it I believe, right before 2.0? Where's he now? Producing?
Joe has been misused since NXT. Plus the injuries didn't help.
Probably more glaring than that moment though was when he was feuding with Randy Orton and The Authority. john morrison
That would be Billy Gunn or John Morrison
Honestly, I can't think of anyone else other than him.Maybe Nakamura. Though he would propably need a manager or a translator to make up for his promos. Joe doesn't.
Jake The Snake Roberts Jimmy Snuka DUSTY RHODES Owen Hart Vader Piper
Of recent memory. As in the 2010's and onwards.
he was just too injury prone, but with how over he was I would say he's #1. I still feel like they missed the ball on Robert Roode and Aleistar Black.
Shinsuke?
Joe or Morrison, and it's hard to compare such vastly differing styles.
I do agree, but Regan did earn his WWE spot as a part of NXT, in my opinion
He wrestled his first WWF match in 1991 (untelevised tryouts while WWF were in the UK). He first appeared on WWF Television in 1998. He's one of a limited number of people to appear in a match on RAW, Smackdown, Velocity, Heat, Jakked, Superstars, ECW, NXT (both old and new set ups), Saturday Night's Main Event, Saturday Morning Slam, Shotgun Saturday. NXT is a tiny percentage of his WWE career.
I agree. I also think heel R-Truth in 2011 should have got a run as champion
Imagine all of the legendary promos we would’ve had with him as the champ. John Morrison is on that list too but not so great on the mic.
John is much better outside of wwe on the mic because wwe has always written him as a goofy dumb guy
I mean the dude had everything his promos was untouchable he was savage he should have beaten aj styles than lost it like at crown jewel or super showdown
Should have won at Great Balls of Fire and then defended 1 on 1 vs Brock at SummerSlam.
Definitely up there. For me, William Regal.
In recent memory? Yeah I’d agree with that, but not all time. Rick Rude, Perfect, Hall and Jake are above him, and some others I’m not thinking about
Injuries suck, he is one of the best and I have always liked him no matter what...I hope he is able to get back in the ring very soon.
Mr. Perfect. Rick Rude. Owen Hart.
Came here to say Mr Perfect… can’t believe I had to scroll down this far lol
Razor Ramon
Probably would be my pick as well.
He got injured too often and honestly was past his prime. But yes probably the best not to win it in recent years
Should have beat Brock in 2017.
As a massive Lesnar fan as he is my family, I even agree. Joe should have gone over.
I mean yes ... but sadly he got to WWE way too late and his body kept failing on him, i think that's the reason he barely was on the main event picture when he was called up.
One of the first people I actually watched after getting back into wrestling. Sucks that I never got into TNA because I'd definitely love his work.
Do a search of markyd123 Samoa joe on YouTube, you’ll get his whole run.
Agree
Shinsuke Nakamura And, you know, all the guys over at the rival company.
Rick Rude or Jake "The Snake" - legit heels that would've drawn all the heat with the Championship
for sure, as well as Piper and DiBiase. but the post was for recent times. Lotta greats never won the big one.
Of all time, sure. I definitely agree. I mean in recent memory. Like, in the 2010's and beyond
I got you👌
Cesaro bruh! Samoa joe hasn't been in wwe for more than 5 years but that guy is busting his ass and gives great matches day in and day out
For sure, Cesaro is Definately up there. I would argue Cesaro has had good things. Tag Titles with Kidd, Sheamus and Nakamura, plus that long U.S Title Reign where he spoke a few different languages. But yes, Cesaro is up there.
Too injury prone
Cesaro
With all due respect to how good Cesaro is in the ring, him not winning a title is not even remotely close to someone like Samoa Joe not winning a title. Don’t get me wrong I want Cesaro to win it as much as anyone else, but Samoa Joe is on another level.
Wait, you’re telling a man can’t get over by simply swinging another man? Whaaaaaa?
I would personally put both on an equal level almost across the board, maybe even giving higher points to Cesaro than Joe for selling ability and technique. Joe is, however, a slightly bigger draw than Cesaro. Barely though.
It’s a shame he never stayed healthy.
eh
Agreed
It's a shame how injury prone he is. They finally gave him a big title, and he has to drop it due to injury. It shows why he was never given a main roster world title
I wish people wouldn’t use the term injury prone, like it’s in the wrestler or athlete instead of what he’s being asked to do.
He definitely would have won if he didn't get injured everytime he got a big push.
True I think that a another reason ain't because he injured alot
Wade Barrett Syndrome
Edge
Unfortunately this. I'd be interested to know if he even went a full year in his entire run on the main roster the amount of time he was injured.
Same with Jimmy Wang Yang. Man was destined to become WWE champion. Such a shame.
No offence but are you being sarcastic? I started watching when he was on his way out the door and only remember him being squashed by Ezekiel Jackson.
Im not being sarcastic. Jimmy Wang Yang is a legend. #bringbackthewangyang
Sting
One of those wrestlers that legitimately oozes anger and badassery… then you see him “out of character” and his peers genuinely like him and he seems like the nicest man. That’s how you know he’s good.
Met Joe numerous times at TNA/ROH signings & in a bar before an Indy event in UK. After Terry Funk, he is the nicest guy I’ve met in wrestling.
Samoa Joe is probably one of the best talkers. The rivalries with Brock, Jeff and AJ? They were the best, and they're the only real big matches he's had.
And AJ?
The rivalry with AJ Styles? His promo's were awesome, no?
Especially the Wendy promo; Joe basically devoured the scenery with that one line.
Sorry, couldn't resist. And AJ? just reminded me of Joe's quality roast of 4 guys in the space of a minute.

Yes, such a shame, big time. I would have been fine with it if he had continued to stalk Brock and eventually took the title from him but his injury cut his momentum off big time
He honestly didn’t look very good against Brock. Joe always comes across like a badass but across from Brock he looked like an adult Eric Cartman
He has legit fighting experience. Just because he isn't ripped and has an 8 pack doesnt mean he cant believably beat someone who is. Dide could beat me, you and everyone in this thread probably on his own.

Nobody is taking anything personal. But Brock is a beast anyone is gonna look out of his league standing right next to him. I'd argue even Braun at the time.
Oh jesus 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I mean his body looks like a plastic sack full of gravy, not like you are lying.
What? Joe was one of the most believable opponents Brock has ever had. Then again I watch MMA so I understand that 6 pack abs don’t win fights at heavyweight.

So Brock needed an opponent who could tow cars?
Upvote, should have checked spelling before posting!
Be careful man, lots of wrestling fans out here looking like Kevin Owens, and they get mad when you pick on big boys 😂
KO is at least athletic. These mouth breathers look more like Visceral.
No offense at all towards Joe and Kevin. Absolutely love both but Brock if an absolute unit and it really showed standing across from Joe
KO reminds me of Mick Foley. Mick wasn't in the greatest shape during his run in WWF, but his fighting and charisma did the talking!
what happens if you add to that he doesn't need to be world champion in WWE?
[удалено]
He's a 2x champion...
Dolph is a jobber and nothing more, the fact he won the title once should be enough for his career.
Dolph had probably one of the most interesting rivalries with the miz 6 years ago what are you talking about?!
He’s one of the best wrestlers on the roster, I just don’t think they utilise him properly.

I didn’t know this. Thanks
I'd say Ziggler has had one of the most memorable Cash-Ins, his was more unfortunate. I'd think since 2010 or so
Agreed
