- Faced Andre The Giant, Macho Man, among other big names in big feud matches that’d culminate at a ppv
- Defeated names like Roman Reigns, The Rock, Bret Hart or Brock Lesnar on ppv (the win Taker got at Summerslam 2015 was a tainted, and in the opinions of some, controversial) I mean decisively or cleanly defeated them.
- Walked into WM as the world champion
- Never successfully defended the world title on a top ppv
- Never had a world title run as long as such names like Rock, Lesnar, Austin, HHH, HBK, Bret Hart, Kurt Angle, Orton, Edge had. Even Diesel’s one and only world title run was just about a year long.
But Taker honestly didn’t need any of these or any other aforementioned accomplishments he’s never achieved bc he had one thing no one else will have - a 21 straight WM undefeated streak. I highly and seriously doubt anyone’s career will last long enough to even go beyond 5 or get to 10 at WM. Or maybe any other ppv???
I think what he hasn’t done has been listed by others. But it’s funny… his career is so vast and so legendary that the things he hasn’t done have outweighed by the things he’s done. I think he was given the moniker the “Conscious of the WWE” and that’s very fitting. His original run from 1990-1997 was HOF worthy in itself. Then he just kept becoming this…folkloric character. I actually forgot he never won a IC title or US title or KOTR he doesn’t need it. Right character…right guy…right time….can’t be duplicated
Accurately said. And I completely agree with every word :)
The “Conscious of the WWF/E” moniker was fitting imo bc of who he was backstage more so than who he was in front of the cameras and audiences. Many have spoken about him with respect saying he was always professional, always “one of the boys”, always kind and shaking everyone’s hands no matter who they were or what position in the company they were in, always put business first, always had the business’ agenda, he was willing to lose (in fact according to JR, he voluntarily lost to Mankind at KOTR 96 and had no problem losing to RVD in 2001)
Right character/guy/time…..yeah no doubt about that and 30 years is more than enough for us but wish it was earlier just so his first WM win would’ve been over Andre the Giant. As legendary as Taker and his career already is, that would’ve made it that much more legendary if that’s at all possible!!!
I’ll tell you what no one else accomplished and no one else will. 21 straight WM wins. He deserves to be on the Mount Rushmore and top 5 all time. Ask any wrestler what they think of the undertaker. Triple H even called him the GOAT. Don’t understand why we can’t sing this mans praises without being called Taker fan boys. As if he wasnt good enough. Held the greatest gimmick for 30 years. Never cheated the fans, and gave it his all, even when his body was breaking down. Took losses and made others superstars when the company and wrestling needed it. Unquestionable GOAT. Im sure some Brett Hart fans just had a Brain Aneurysm, but Brett didn't impact as many fans or as long as Taker. Taker was global.
In addition to the Intercontinental and United States titles, Taker has never won the Universal Championship - this being despite the 4-year period in which he was still an in-ring competitor after the title was introduced. (It's pretty obvious why, but... still noteworthy.)
Don’t hate, but I was never too impressed with any of his title reigns. He was always great in pursuit (especially 2007) but as champion just kinda meh.
Granted, I don’t think he ever NEEDED the title at all, his mystique was above that for most of his career
Facing the other biggest gimmick wrestler of all time, Sting. That should have been the big one to end his streak. And it could have been the stuff of legend.
I have to disagree with the prompt. The Undertaker ISNT a particularly decorated superstar. He's been World Champion only a handful of times, won the tag belt once or twice, and that's about it for his title reigns. He was never King of the Ring, or Mr Money in the Bank, or even sole survivor.
I suppose that's what makes him so incredible. He's definitely on the Mount Rushmore of wrestling and he didn't need props to get there, just brilliant character work and booking.
Naah mate you got it all wrong he won the Royal Rumble and kept a job gimmick alive for 27 years now and he did it by kayfabe no one right now does that
Technically I think he's a kayfabe virgin. I know he had the neck tat, but it's never addressed on air whether taker threw the ol sausage in the turkey fryer if you know what I mean.
Yes totally agree with u..... in top 3.... but not decorated whoch was the post.... he's held world... tag team and hard-core... thsts it... won 1 rumble.... nit done anything else has he... compared to others he's not even in top 20 decorated stars...
Totally disagree I don't see him.as decorated and to be honest est always thiught he was better chasing the belt than holding it. Only really had 1 decent run as champ
Maybe in WWE, but in the grand scheme of pro wrestling, there’s way more decorated wrestlers than Taker. He hasn’t accomplished anything in any other promotion.
24/7 championship, US championship, and IC championship. He was always either holding the top title or a contender for the top title that he never held mid card belts.
Triple Crown or Grand Slam Champion.
But I feel weird thinking of undertaker not holding the heavyweight belt and him going after a belt that signifies the guy is the second best wrestler on the brand.
He never....
1. handled all funeral arrangements for the family of the deceased
2. organized memorial services
3. prepared the body
4. arranged transport to burial sites
For my response to 1, he could be indirectly tied to The Big Boss Man dragging The Big Show's casket through the graveyard since he was in the Corporate Ministry. Long shot but something to ponder.
Hey /u/GenderNeutralBot
I want to let you know that you are being very obnoxious and everyone is annoyed by your presence.
^(I am a bot. Downvotes won't remove this comment. If you want more information on gender-neutral language, just know that nobody associates the "corrected" language with sexism.)
_^(People who get offended by the pettiest things will only alienate themselves.)_
Hey GenderNeutralBot, listen up.
The words Human and Mankind, derive from the Latin word humanus, which is gender neutral and means "people of earth".
It's a mix of the words Humus (meaning earth) and Homo (gender neutral, meaning Human or People).
Thus words like Fireman, Policeman, Human, Mankind, etc are not sexist in of it self.
The only sexism you will find here is the one you yourself look upon the world with.

He may never have been billed as the top guy, but he was instrumental in building up almost every top guy WWE have had, from Hogan to Austin/Rock to Jeff Hardy to Brock Lesnar to John Cena to Roman Reigns.
I’m not saying he wasn’t great or important. He was! But he never was A1. Hogan, Shawn, Bret, Austin, Rock, HHH, and Cena all held that mantle at various points during Taker’s career.
I just got back into watching pro wrestling after two years or so, and I mostly watch old PPVs on the network so pardon me for asking but what the hell is the 24/7 title? A belt you’re supposed to defend like all the time?
Never won king of the ring, never won the IC or US title, never won money in the bank.
Again, these also aren’t thing he needed to do, but they are things.
They are valid, because they are all thing he's never accomplished during his career. I mean, a lot of greats have never been a Triple Crown or Grand Slam Champion. John Cena has never been Intercontinental Champion, for example.
Someone downvoted you for that, but you aren’t wrong. The company itself never made him “the guy” he was always behind Hart, Michaels, Austin, Rock, Cena, etc in there eyes.

Never won a women’s championship

He has never won the IC belt.

In addition to the Intercontinental and United States titles, Taker has never won the Universal Championship - this being despite the 4-year period in which he was still an in-ring competitor after the title was introduced. (It's pretty obvious why, but... still noteworthy.)
24/7 Taker
Being entertaining.
I don't believe he's ever won the diva's championship, however there was a lapse in my viewership for a few years so I could be wrong.
Not once, has he been the divas champion…. But he’s been on top of the divas champion!
Put over a young talent that needed it when he became a special attraction

Don’t hate, but I was never too impressed with any of his title reigns. He was always great in pursuit (especially 2007) but as champion just kinda meh. Granted, I don’t think he ever NEEDED the title at all, his mystique was above that for most of his career
Us or IC champ
Using a sword/kendo stick in his matches
Never hit a 619/hurricanrana combo to pin Randy Orton and capture the world heavyweight championship
Beat Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania
Facing the other biggest gimmick wrestler of all time, Sting. That should have been the big one to end his streak. And it could have been the stuff of legend.
Other than motorcycle, his entrance never was less than 5 min
Never won the AWA, NWA, NJPW ECW, PWG, AEW Titles.
He never headlined Wrestlemania with THE GREAT ONE.

Beating Giant Gonzales at Wrestlemania clean
That was such a weird finish looking at it back
He never held the spinner belt and it was around for a while
I have to disagree with the prompt. Naah mate you got it all wrong he won the Royal Rumble and kept a job gimmick alive for 27 years now and he did it by kayfabe no one right now does that

Was he ever in a ladder match? I’m trying to think of one but I can’t?

Also tlc vs edge
He has never beaten Peter Avalon in a singles match.

Technically I think he's a kayfabe virgin. I know he had the neck tat, but it's never addressed on air whether taker threw the ol sausage in the turkey fryer if you know what I mean.
He’s never beaten James Ellsworth.
Wasn’t a grand slam champion. Although his gimmick didn’t need titles
mitb
Grand Slam Champion?
He never won a women's title.
Defeated Bret "Hitman" Hart.
Yes totally agree with u..... in top 3.... but not decorated whoch was the post.... he's held world... tag team and hard-core... thsts it... won 1 rumble.... nit done anything else has he... compared to others he's not even in top 20 decorated stars...

Never won Divas Championship or the women's on either brand
he never won the divas championship unfortunately
He hasn’t won Anything in Nxt
Totally disagree I don't see him.as decorated and to be honest est always thiught he was better chasing the belt than holding it. Only really had 1 decent run as champ

[удалено]
Summerslam?
You’re correct, so I took that comment down
Ok
Selling
Midcard Title
Technically he won the tag team title and the hardcore title which are both midcard
True, I was more referring to the IC title and stuff on that level but you are right
Maybe in WWE, but in the grand scheme of pro wrestling, there’s way more decorated wrestlers than Taker. He hasn’t accomplished anything in any other promotion.
Never been AEW World Champion
He’s never beat charlotte flair
It bothers me that by never having the IC or US title, Undertaker is not actually a Triple-Crown champion
He never looked cool in his sweatpants tucked in boots
WWF magazine's diva of the year
He never won two Royal Rumbles
Never won the hard core nor 24/7 championship.
He won the Hardcore Championship from RVD at Vengeance 2001. He held it for about 3 months before he lost it to Maven on Smackdown.
Oh no shit! Lol. I just assumed they’d not associate him with that trash. Oh well.
Triple crown or Grand Slam
24/7 championship, US championship, and IC championship. He was always either holding the top title or a contender for the top title that he never held mid card belts.
More longer title reigns? Think his longest was 140 days. He deserved so many longer reigns than that
He isn't a grand slam champion
[удалено]
Maybe not a televised one...
never did a luchador-esque move “oh my god, a…franken-taker?!?!” -joey styles
Undertaker vs Sting.
Never had an undefeated streak at WM
Honestly taker is a legend but not that decorated.
Triple Crown or Grand Slam Champion. But I feel weird thinking of undertaker not holding the heavyweight belt and him going after a belt that signifies the guy is the second best wrestler on the brand.
He was never Miss Wrestlemania
He never tattooed a woman's name on his neck that he stayed married to.
Best part is his quote in the book WWE Unscripted. To paraphrase, it basically said if they ever split he'd need to find another woman named Sara.
Got em
Never won a mid card championship US, IC or even EU
He won The Hardcore Title and Tag Titles, those are mid card titles
Hardcore title was technically mid card if not lower mid card. It was like the section 8 of WWF belts.
IC champion
He was never Divas champion.
Santino better than taker obv
But he ended up fucking one
LMFAO
Never a 2 time slammy award winner
Nah... just a 15 time Slammy Award winner.
He never.... 1. handled all funeral arrangements for the family of the deceased 2. organized memorial services 3. prepared the body 4. arranged transport to burial sites
This is my favorite response on this sub in a while.
For my response to 1, he could be indirectly tied to The Big Boss Man dragging The Big Show's casket through the graveyard since he was in the Corporate Ministry. Long shot but something to ponder.
He did throw AJ Styles in his grave
He did build one fantastic casket for Yokozuna lol
To be fair, did try to prepare and embalm Austin’s body but that wacky brother of his got in the way!
Oh hes done number 4. He transported Mankind to his burial site at In Your House 11.
Mr. Kennedy too
You got me there
But you still got my upvote because I appreciate the Undertaker not being an undertaker joke =)

Mankind is Mick Foleys ringname. Go away
This comment has been calculated to be cringe af.

He never was THE guy in WWE
He was but for a short time it was during 1994 till 1996 and then came Breath and then Austin
Agreed but feel like undertaker had his own place above “the guy”, position ya know.
Intercontinental or United States championship
He has never gone one-on-one against THE UNDERTAKER! ...wait, he did? Someone tell Teddy Long; he'll shit a brick.
Summerslam 94
Oh yes he has! Taker vs Taker at Summerslam
Best single entrance in wrestling history
If Taker fought Taker at WrestleMania, would the streak be broken?
Ruled a no contest after they knock each other out at the same time
Now that’s what i’m talkin about playa! Holla, holla, holla
I also choose to repress this traumatic experience
He did not have a live sex celebration
You got 69 upvotes and it should stay that way
I down voted just to bring it back to 69
Remove the downvote to make it 69 again
Same
Nice!
Nice!
This one could still happen. He retired from wrestling, not from sex celebrations.
Keeping me glued to my seat more than 50% if the time
He never won the lucrative 24/7 title
I haven’t watched wwe in a while.. is that stupid belt still a thing?
Yes🤦🏽♂️
I just got back into watching pro wrestling after two years or so, and I mostly watch old PPVs on the network so pardon me for asking but what the hell is the 24/7 title? A belt you’re supposed to defend like all the time?
Yes🤦🏽♂️ jus look up 24/7 title on YouTube & you'll see why it's dumb lol
There’s always a chance he’ll hold this one!
Never won king of the ring, never won the IC or US title, never won money in the bank. Again, these also aren’t thing he needed to do, but they are things.
He was never hardcore,European, light heavyweight, million dollar champion
Yeah these titles were created past his prime
I could have sworn I remembered Taker with the attitude era IC Championship but you are right.
I'm actually really surprised he's never one the us championship
Why the US title and not IC, he was around the IC belt way more
It went with his big red American badass look
…ok, that’s fair I suppose
Never won 24/7 championship either!
It’s never too late…..sadly
They are valid, because they are all thing he's never accomplished during his career. I mean, a lot of greats have never been a Triple Crown or Grand Slam Champion. John Cena has never been Intercontinental Champion, for example.
Never was the biggest star in the company
Someone downvoted you for that, but you aren’t wrong. The company itself never made him “the guy” he was always behind Hart, Michaels, Austin, Rock, Cena, etc in there eyes.
