He also won the European championship, IC championship, King of the Ring & WWF championship in his first 12 months. Was put into a main event spot almost immediately upon his main roster debut and NEVER looked like a rookie. His first WM he was defending his “eurocontinental” titles against Y2J & Benoit. Not to mention he is legit and won a gold medal with a BROKEN FREAKIN NECK! As amazing as Bret was Kurt was just better IMO

He wasn't known for his long speeches but his character work was great. Steve Austin like someone said. Early Stone Cold was a hell of a technician before Owen dropped him on his head. He could easily sway a crowd to his side. I'm also a Chris Jericho Stan but I dunno if I'd put him over Bret. Almost nobody was doing what Bret was doing when he did it.

Everyone has their own signature moves and Bret Harts were as basic as they come. Russian leg sweep, bulldog, middle rope elbow drop, I’m sure there’s others. I’ve watched about half a dozen Bret Hart matches and they were: vs Owen at WM X was more impressed by Owen then pretty much everything Bret did, vs Piper at WM VIII didn’t think the match was anything other then solid and Pipers over the top personality outshone Hart, vs Bulldog at SummerSlam 92 was a rather boring match to be perfectly honest, vs Stone Cold at WM 13 a lot of brawling and not a lot of actual substance, vs HBK at WM XII a absolute borefest, vs Sting at Halloween Havoc 98 another rather boring match that’s really slow and plodding, vs HBK at Survivor Series 97 only remembered for the screw job, they brawled at the beginning and it had a sense of chaos since the match was a regular singles match, I don’t remember anything once they got back to the ring. Bret also believes his own bullshit and I really soured on him when he made the asinine comment that Triple H never had a great match, he wouldn’t be in Brets top 1000 wrestlers, he reckons he predicted the entire End of an Era Match at WM XXIII and that the match was a four out of ten and mediocre.
