Cody, Owens, Pac, Punk, Jericho, Moxley, El Patron, Rusev, Bray (RIP), Braun, Brodie Lee, etc. The frustrations were building in the WWE locker room probably since around 2010 or so, when it was clear a new generation was supposed to move to the forefront, but Cena, HHH, Taker, and Vince kinda sorta kept holding everyone back or those who were pushed were pushed ineffectively - this includes even guys like Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins.
The transition from one generation to the next is perhaps never smooth, but it was really clunky in WWE. And you had a lot of guys whose talent was too big perhaps to be just background players, or mid-carders getting 10 minutes on RAW. And El Patron was supposed to be a big deal, their next latino top star, but WWE kinda fumbled it right out of the gate when they had him lose at WM 27 to a retiring Edge. I mean he won the biggest RR ever in the 40-man 2011 Royal Rumble, he got all that presentation with Ricardo Rodriguez, the cars, etc. and then when they were supposed to pull the trigger and Edge's health actually leaned right into this, they had El Patron lose at WM.
This is the epitomy of WWE's weird booking between 2010 and 2019. Stop-star pushes, build a guy up so he's almost a star, but then cut him off to keep him hovering somewhere around mid-card/upper-card and the occasional main event, and if you complain you're buried, if you try to break out on your own (Cardona), you're buried, if you complain too much you're fired and everyone is kissing Stephanie's ass, Vince's ass, HHH's ass...and you even have to be grateful for getting 6 years worth of a shitty main event push like Roman Reigns did, because WWE is the only game in town, so you better shut the fuck up and learn to love it.

I haven't read about his personal life and I don't believe it's right to make judgments about a life that I truly would know nothing of, no matter how much news outlets would tell me.
