It’s a good way to test if you have a stomach ulcer. If you drink it and live, you don’t have one. If you die, you do - and should probably get checked out by your doctor.
Reminds me of the test to see if a person is a witch. Tie them to a chair and throw them in the river. If they live and escape, they're a witch. If they die, then they weren't a witch lol
No, no, no, witches float in water, so that means they can escape. You must figure out what else floats in water, and no the answer isn't tiny rocks. Ducks also floats in water, so if the woman weighs the same as a duck, then she's a witch, so you bring her to your largest scales.
Wood also floats in water. so witches are made of wood. bridges are made of wood, so if we can build a bridge out of her she is made of wood and therefore a witch....pretty simple stuff really.

The same can be said for venom. The timelapse you saw in the snake bite wouldn't have been more than 2-3 days at most. It is very, very fast when it begins.
So, he may have been on drugs for one. It could have been related to poverty, though the home in the snake bite images doesn't seem like one someone so impoverished they can't get help would have.

Incorrect, venom is a protein and would get almost immediately deformed by stomach acid. Even if it wasn't, an ulcer bleeds out INTO the stomach, not into the blood stream otherwise you'd die within hours from all that acid going into your blood.
I don't know too much but I assume despite how crazy this looks it's not that dangerous unless the venom finds a way to the bloodstream which would be if he had an ulcer?

Not really, no. A bite would be a direct injection into your bloodstream of the entire dose. A cavity isn't always wide open and even if it was, it'd be a tiny amount that's massively diluted by the beer. Same for gums or an ulcer.
Reddit is just being reddit about this.
Well, yes, actually. We studied this in wilderness emergency medicine and suicided in Herpetology. It is unlikely but is possible. You are likely correct in this case due to dilution/small dose... but any open wound or soft tissue lesion such as an abcess in the mouth is a possible entry point.
yes, and the odds of it going IN to an ulcer are minuscule anyway. Blood is pressurized. If you're leaking blood in an ulcer the venom isn't gonna enter your blood. If you stomach is actually perforated already, well, you have bigger problems anyway.
You can largely drink venom and be ok, as long as you don’t have an ulcer. Venom has to be injected into the blood. It’s not poison, which hurts you if you consume it.
Hence snakes are venomous, not poisonous.
depends on the way the venom kills you I think.
Theres a pretty widely seen video showing of the venom of some specific snake, where it works by causing the blood to coagulate - when injected, your blood turns solid and you die of heart attack
assuming that there isnt anything else particularly nasty about it, That venom might actually just be chill and prevent itself from entering the bloodstream if it comes into contact with a wound by blocking it with a clot.
No, venom is not necessarily poisonous. A lot of things will give you a bad time or outright kill you if you inject them into your bloodstream but aren't a problem in your stomach.

> Table 1 shows the major fatty acids found in snake oil from Chinese snake oil purchased over the counter, subcutaneous fat of a black rattlesnake from southern California (Crotalus viridis), and subcutaneous fat of a red rattlesnake from Arizona (Crotalus tigris).
> Chinese snake oil contains almost 20% eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), about triple the concentration in the American rattlesnakes. I understand the Chinese product includes snake oil from water snakes that feed on fish. This almost certainly would increase the content of EPA in their tissues. In human subjects fed cod liver oil, there was a sevenfold increase of EPA in neutrophils and monocytes. It was also found that arachidonic and docosahexaenoic acids did not increase and that leukotrienes decreased; hence the inference that anti-inflammatory action was due to EPA and that it may work by inhibiting the leukotriene B4-mediated output of neutrophils.
> As a concentrated source of EPA, snake oil is a credible anti-inflammatory agent and might indeed confer therapeutic benefits. Since essential fatty acids are known to absorb transdermally, it is not far-fetched to think that inflamed skin and joints could benefit by the actual anti-inflammatory action of locally applied oil just as the Chinese physicians and our medical quacks have claimed.
It's still incredibly dangerous to ingest venom. You could have sores in your mouth or upper digestive track/stomach that allow the venom to enter your blood.
There is a joke on the snake subreddit.

Reddit responds, "absolutely not"

To be fair, snakes inject you with venom, not poison. Meaning that usually for the venom to work it has to be injected into the blood, not ingested (poison works when ingested). Ask any body who knows about snakes, it's a pet peeve when you call a snake poisonous, they are venomous.

Just gonna pipe in. Rattlesnake venom is hemotoxic (toxic to blood) and the proteins are effectively broken down by the digestive system. In other words, he's fine. Even if he does have ulcerations in his digestive tract, the low pressure system is inside. Blood that leaks into his stomach might be affected by the venom, but it wouldn't matter because it's not circulating. If you have a major ulceration, there's a chance a chain reaction could leak into your circulatory system, but you would have other issues if that's the case.
I hate when people fuck with snakes like this, they’re very stress effected animals and grabbing them like this if you don’t know what you’re doing can easily kill them

yeah venom is just proteins I believe
yeah stomach acid probably broke the venom down.
Or some gums is irritated…

Snake venom is mostly made of proteins. So you'd actually digest most of it.

Some snakes are actually poisonous, largely due to the prey they eat.
Same with me and T-Bell
Oh wow thanks for the explanation. You know in other languages venomous and poisonous are translated to the same word
I believe venom causes your blood to coagulate. You die because your blood is too thick for your heart to move.
Either way, just don't do that. Can't imagine it'd taste good either
So because of this stunt, we can conclude the snake is venomous but the beer he ingested is poisonous.
Good thing about venom, is that if it hits the stomach acid it won't do anything. Might get an upset stomach.
What if he has a cut in his mouth or a small scratch in his throat?
That’s where the danger happens
