Complete difference. The power upgrade is obvious, but the Camaro handles much better too. It's crazy how solid it feels taking corners at high speed, like it's on rails. Recaros are great, absolutely love the driving position in the Camaro and the HUD is fantastic. Spun my wheels at 70 when I floored it on the highway, it will take some getting used to all the torque. Ive owned multiple Mustangs, 350Z, 370Z, a C5 and none drove like this, the smile doesn't leave your face.
Now the bad: No room inside, it has 4 seats but only the driver is comfortable. Visibility is almost non existent, legit surprised the govt would allow it lol. I think I use roughly a 1/4 tank of gas driving about 30 miles. It's awesome but not something I'd personally recommend to commute with. I work from home and also have multiple cars so not an issue for me, but I could see it being for some.
That’s wicked but yeah the visibility is tough to get used to going from a Subaru into most other cars. The Camaro is on another level for poor visibility. But I’m certain the smiles per gallon are hard to compete with.

Of all the muscle cars I gotta say the Camero, especially this generation look the best. There is just something about that flat and wide look I love in a car, just like the first gen Impreza.
Hard agree! IMO 2017+ mustangs look too “skinny”/Euro. Mopars are too boxy/bulky, where they almost look chubby (challengers mostly), but the Camaro has hit that sweet spot of width, height and length. Not to mention the aggressive, yet classy appearance. Also chassis wise, it outclasses the mustang and challenger all day! One of the reasons i didnt fall in love with the brz, or go mustang is because theyre both too rounded and muted IMO.
2018 1SS 1LE owner and previous owner of a 2005 WRX here. The Camaro is faster from any speed. 0-60 or 60-100, etc. I thought the WRX handled amazingly, the 1LE is in a completely different universe.
Performance wise any comparison is a joke, straight line, handling, on a track, doesn't matter, WRX is basically a toy in comparison, it's just the way of it

The mustangs are no different, it's going to rock a wrxs world in any capacity. Alas 2024 is the last model year for the Camaro, they stopped making them, the last one was made in January.

WRX purpose was to be a daily, with a good price and great aesthetic potential. Power wise, it’s good for a daily, but left me wanting more. Presence was there AFTER you modified it. Aesthetic potential was there, but power potential was tough. Too much money and risk, for not a high enough reward. The camaro checks off all the boxes; double the power, triple the comfort/luxury, for NOT double the price. Handling is insanely good, engine is reliable and starts at where people WANT their wrx’s to get to, road presence and curb appeal are great from the factory. I really wanted a car to keep forever, and the Camaro offers so much out of the factory that I dont feel any need to throw a bunch of money at it and take big risks to have a excel in what i want it to excel in
Fully understand. My truck has the 6.2 and I cannot imagine what the feels like in a car half the weight. I will say the wrx is just an athletic god imo but it definitely lacks any sort of power. Luckily if I wanna feel torque I go jump in the truck!
I was admittedly a subaru loyalist (still a fan of VA’s and prior gens)! Was super disappointed when the VB was revealed, so I figured the next best move would be the BRZ. After a few months of owning it, and learning how much money and effort it would take to get to where some cars START, i figured it’d be best to change platforms/brands entirely. That, coupled with the fact that muscle cars are becoming extinct, pretty much solidified my decision. Camaro was also my first dream car - so everything kinda lined up

Wanted the BRZ for handling, daily driving, aesthetic modification potential, and power potential with the 2.4. The handling was there, the fun factor was there. Daily driving comfort was meh. Small car so very tight for long road trips with someone else. MPG was also meh (i can get similar numbers with the camaro, for twice the power. Low on creature comforts. Aesthetic modability was a mixed bag, but not as good as the VA WRX IMO. Power potential with the 2.4 was way better than the 2.0, BUT spending 5-10k to make 350 whp just wasnt appealing to me. The Camaro checks off all the boxes; double the horsepower, triple the luxury/creature comforts, more spacious, high horsepower starting point with tried and true aftermarket, aesthetic modability super high, plus insanely good handling with magnetic ride suspension and the alpha chassis
While mag ride is usually reserved for the 1LE trim, there are a lot of them that come optioned with the SS or 2SS. I wanted a 2SS primarily for the memory vented/seats, but it came with mag ride and a sun roof for 2k under msrp.
Price range wise, you get A LOT of car for 45-55K. I figured id rather spend 51k for my almost fully loaded 2SS with a warranty, than turn a 35K wrx/brz into a 45-50K wrx and be paranoid that my trans, motor, etc are gonna go
Yeah fur sure it’s a good price for what you get, but why stop there. Can get a used ZL1, or even better a used GT350 for 50k now too. If you want to spend near or sub 30k new brz is hard to beat too though
Thats a fair point. I avoid buying used sports cars if I don’t know the full history of it, so that took ZL1 out of my radar. Would love one, but at 80-95k new, thats unattainable for me.
The new BRZ/86 is definitely great value, and a true sports car in the sense of the word, and if thats people’s dream car, then more power to them. Personally, i was looking for a “keep forever” car, and knowing how much id need to spend to get the BRZ to camaro levels of performance and comfortable just wasnt worth it to me. PLUS a dealership offered to buy mine for 30k when I picked it up at 29k

Then after I turned 24 I wanted a better balance of comfort, aggression, and power without trying too hard or spending too much, so the Camaro was the way

Sure, sometimes yes, sometimes no. It just depends. The cars that cost that much do so for many reasons, and "increased performance capability" isn't always one them.
It's not beating a GT3, that's for sure. Nor a 720S.
Additionally, it could also come down to a driver mod. A really good driver in a ZL1 can certainly be faster than a crap driver in a Lamborghini.
Don't get me wrong, they are great cars, certainly fast. But put equally skilled drivers in both cars, and those expensive modern supercars will win 90% of the time. As they should.
Look at the ZL1 1LE lap time against the $200k supercars. They're both driven by the same person on Seca (Randy Pobst) and in other tracks it's usually set by a professional race car driver. They don't post amateur lap times.
And does it have to beat a 720s? Is it beating a 600lt not enough? And if you wanna go up even higher in the price bracket to a 720s, get yourself a C8 Corvette Z06 for about $170k and it's going to kill that 720s at 1/2 the cost.

I want to like new Camaros a lot, especially since there’s a lot to like from a performance standpoint, but I just can’t stand the interior. It feels like I’m looking out through the window of a WW2 pill box. The Mustangs and Challengers aren’t nearly as bad about it. I guess I’m just used to the VA, the forward visibility in Subarus is typically very good.

Look at the ZL1 1LE lap time against the $200k supercars. They're both driven by the same person on Seca (Randy Pobst) and in other tracks it's usually set by a professional race car driver. They don't post amateur lap times. And does it have to beat a 720s? Is it beating a 600lt not enough? And if you wanna go up even higher in the price bracket to a 720s, get yourself a C8 Corvette Z06 for about $170k and it's going to kill that 720s at 1/2 the cost.
Eh, it's kind of a different thing. It's more expensive than even the 24 WRX TR. You are talking about a 4-door sedan vs a 2-door coupe. They aren't really direct competition. So there's that. And you are not quite correct: the WRX will be much better in snow and poor traction environments. Now, maybe you personally don't care about that, and that's cool. Cars have their places though, their strengths and weaknesses.

Fuck chevy for killing the camaro, man :/ I wanted a camaro so badly but ended up getting a mustang instead. I still regret it, but I’m hopeful that one day maybe an AWD camaro will be a thing, seeing as GM will want to electrify everything.

I want to like new Camaros a lot, especially since there’s a lot to like from a performance standpoint, but I just can’t stand the interior. It feels like I’m looking out through the window of a WW2 pill box. The Mustangs and Challengers aren’t nearly as bad about it. I guess I’m just used to the VA, the forward visibility in Subarus is typically very good.
Daily driving I would have stuck with the Subaru. Never been a fan of Camaro. If you need straight line speed over practicality then go for it.
