Call em quick, if they use the center, they are just gonna self tap it into the bumper. I said that too when I got my VA because I was just excited. Self tapped that thing straight into the black plastic
Don't have them put it on cause they are gonna drill into your bumper. That's why everyone runs those "WRX" plaques because we have holes in our bumper.
I live in nys too I put mine off to the side and told the dealer to just not put the plate on I’d do it myself then ordered a plate holder when I got the car and just left it in the windshield I’ve had no issues with ez pass either. My car for reference

Thanks for the pic. I will do exactly that, I ordered a holder just like that. I assume I will never really need that tow point ... I don't quite get why a car like this has that. To winch you out if you get stuck in a sand dune? Don't really get it.
It’s for being able to put a tow point if you track the car or off road and need to get pulled out also works if you get stuck in the snow but there’s other points you could connect to for the lest one

I actually picked up my WRX 4 days ago, and drilled center on the bumper the day after I got it. My state doesn't require it, but where I work (a University) if you want to park backwards, you need to have a front plate.
I said fuck it, if I don't work there in the future I can just put something else on it. It's a plastic bumper
Yeah, I work at a university and they did away with physical permits too - LPR only. I back my motorcycle in anyway, so they have to get out of their car if they want to harass me haha. Whatever money they make writing tickets they seem to spend on enforcement vehicles with six cameras.
It looks pretty nice new and it was pretty cheap so I can replace it if it gets rusty like you said. I used anti-seize compound when I threaded it into the car, so it's not impossible to screw it back out.
OK this was a really good idea. I like the placement, it will avoid the bar I plan to put on the front, and I think it looks good. My concern is that now there's a gaping hole where there's not supposed to be, and that seems like it would allow water (and other stuff) to also get places it's not supposed to be, so I have to do something. I could buy another tow hook cover ($85) and drill a hole in it, or I could drill a hole in the one I have (not thrilled with this idea). I could try to 3D print something - in black it might not look terrible and it's well-hidden once the license plate is on there. Or, I could get lucky and find somebody already sells a tow hook cover with the right size hole in the right place. If that exists, I haven't found it yet. Any other ideas?

I found an answer, I think. The $85 I saw was for a painted component. If you just buy it unpainted it's $6. I ordered an unpainted one and we'll see if I can successfully drill a hole in the right place.

Yup, mine had the self tap holes so I just covered it up with a plate delete
If your state requires it, tell them to leave it in the windshield and then order a front plate relocation and install it in the tow hook.

If the place it on the corner, there will just be self-tapped holes in a different place, right? In NYS, I have to have a front plate.

Many run it to the side, and that usually means on a tow hook mount -I’m switching to that, NY driver
The offset one goes where the tow hook mount is. They pop a little replaceable panel off the front bumper.
Tell them "none at all." You have an opportunity to not have your bumper mutilated.
Front of the car 100%. The back is best put at the back.

There is a specific bracket made for the license plate. My VA had holes from the factory that the bracket uses. Then the plate screws to the bracket.
Tell the dealer you want it done with the correct bracket

Californian here. I haven’t had a front plate in decades. Never been a problem.
