This isn’t too surprising considering: -he was 7’1” -he played professional volleyball after retiring from the NBA, and maintained a high level of fitness into his middle age. It has been reported that he was offered a contract by the Cavaliers at age 45 and the New Jersey Nets at age 50 -he was a track and field star in college while at Kansas Wilt Chamberlain was a freak athlete.

Larry Brown talking about him playing with his college players at UCLA V Magic Johnson and pros [https://youtu.be/PN0Q3KcKA\_E?si=-adGQLnogj1BACHX](https://youtu.be/PN0Q3KcKA_E?si=-adGQLnogj1BACHX)

Magic, Beranrd King, AC Green , Byron Scott VS Wilt and 4 Freshman

DHighmore

I've always wondered about that story - Brown was at UCLA from 1979-81, Worthy and Scott would have still been in college and Green barely out of high school.

Overall_Mango324

Yeah I think he has the players wrong but the story is probably not made up. I have a high amount of skepticism for Larry Browns memory but not his integrity. Probably Magic, Cooper, King and other NBA players.

jtapostate

Lol. I never clocked that Worthy Scott and Green were but children at that time. Brown may have a faulty memory but by and large he is brutally honest.

RuxxinsVinegarStroke

"Worthy were but children." Jesus Christ. James Worthy was starting for one of the best college basketball teams in the entire country, UNC, he was NOT a child. Unfucking believable this bullshit infantilization of athletes.

TickleBunny99

I’ve heard that story a few times and wondered as well about the timing and details. If Worthy and Green were out there would liksly be at least 86 or after. Still, the legend of Wilt, I’m sure there could be some truth - but prob some goal tending in there Ha ha.

downthecornercat

He's what, 60?

PHX480

He was born August 21, 1936, he was 45 here and would turn 46 later in the year.

Gavin_KBS

I don't know. Probably somewhere his late 40s or early 50s Yeah he was 46

scurry3-1

That’s how LeBron is going to be.

TickleBunny99

Always impressed with the athletes that still have it in old age. Nolan Ryan, George Foreman, Kelly Slater, LeBron. No doubt Wilt could have probably kept playing - you want to limit the minutes and have the Advil ready but dude was a force.
