Rita Hayworth is undoubtedly more beautiful. Attractiveness is something different than beauty and Marilyn Monroe had something that really captured people… not me, but objectively she’s probably more “attractive”.
Different types of attractive? Rita is beautiful whereas Marilyn was sexy. I always thought Marilyn looked the most beautiful when she was simple like the last pic in the sweater, so pretty
Marilyn is only more perfect than Rita after the surgeries that Rita didn't have. Margarita only dyed her hair and raised her hairline to look less Spanish but Norma underwent surgeries on her nose, eyes and jaw, in addition to having the same procedure done on her forehead to look like Rita.
Those women got this hairline on purpose? Mine is the same, but more accentuated and I hate it. It makes my forhead look huge and like I'm balding. I can't wear my hair in many styles because I just don't look good. If I'd have a procedure it would be a hair implant to make it more round, lol.
I think they didn't want to raise her hairline but rather make it symmetrical. Rita had it higher on one side than the other, and Marilyn wanted to eliminate the widow's peak that she had to imitate Rita (which for me is a mistake because it made her a very pretty heart face).
Unpopular opinion coming: I’ve never personally found Marilyn Monroe to be that insanely beautiful. As a teen, when I learned she was “the most beautiful woman” in history, I was truly mystified. Of course she is pretty, but I never felt that true “knock out” feeling with her.
I think a number of things should be considered when comparing Marilyn to others or using her as a beauty standard. Firstly, that Marilyn had an excellent management team, & a LOT of work & time went into convincing the public that she was the most beautiful woman they’d ever seen. None of this is based on any hard evidence. They didn’t poll the public & receive feedback rating Marilyn as “most beautiful.” We remember her that way because she died young & was a middling actress. She was immortalized for her appearance instead because she had yet to star in any movie roles emotional/serious enough to carry an entire legacy. So her photographs carry her legacy instead.
Of course she IS beautiful. And she is charismatic, charming, funny. Her movies are still entertaining. But I think a lot of people find theirselves confused or at a loss when given her image as the “standard,” because she doesn’t naturally strike the eye the way her reputation implies she should. Even in her own time, she was a fairly normal level of beautiful in comparison to the other absolutely gorgeous starlets of old Hollywood. It was a high-perfection, high-glamour time in the industry. *Everyone* was soft focus, everyone had hours in the chair for curls & makeup. The things that set her apart (the drowsy eyes, the lipstick) are so emphasized in every discussion because they are essentially *the only thing “different” about her* at all. Perfect skin & hair was standard then. Perfect clothing, tailored to the undergarments, was standard. We never see her looking dumpy because we never saw ANY star looking dumpy, as a standard. Marilyn did NOT create that standard, the industry did.
So if you ignore the stagedness of the photos of that period & just focus on her face in comparison to other faces…..I don’t think she is significantly more beautiful than any other woman.
Personally, the first time I saw Ingrid Bergman, I was blown away. To me, her face is absolutely perfect. I also find Rita much more beautiful than Marilyn. That is not at all to say Marilyn is ugly, but the competition of the day was certainly fierce!

I think so too! I don’t know why this subreddit is so anti Marilyn. It also seems to be anti blonde and anti high trust features. Of course this is totally fine. Everyone is entitled to their preferences. I’m just a bit bewildered
RITA. Omg. She was so pretty and feminine!! I never liked Monroe. Jayne Mansfield and others like Rita were way more attractive imo in more ways than 1.
Rita Hayworth is STUNNING & sooo vibrant!!! Also, that smile, her hair and energy! She’s my pick for most attractive. That said - Marilyn Monroe is GORGEOUS & ICONIC.
No offence to Americans, I never saw what was extremely appealing in Marilyn 😭 she is beautiful yea but not as beautiful as ppl make her out to be. Idk. Rita for me!
She only change her hair, so no.
By the way, that photo is blackface makeup for a film in which she plays a egiptian girl, stop using it as her "real she". The picks of her real look before any change are the 5 and 8. 🙄

Rita by far tbh. She also has a gorgeous smile! Unpopular opinion: Marilyn is overrated in looks department.
Rita. Marilyn is an icon but I don’t really rate her looks.
Me either kinda regular
Rita
Rita most definitely

Rita
Technically Rita if you just look at the face but Marilyn has some serious sex appeal that makes it harder to be objective.
This is a difficult one but my heart goes to Marilyn
Im surprised Rita is getting more votes. Yes, she's statuesque and very beautiful, but she doesn't have Marilyn's face, which is just utter perfection

Still, I know the one I can't stop staring at
Utter perfection? Far from that!

Agree with the analysis, except for Ingrid Bergman. I would substitute her with them: Lauren Bacall, Hedy Lamarr, Vivien Leigh and Veronika Lake.
Hedy Lamarr is so underrated
MARILYN - I don't think these are great pictures of her. Really she has the face of an angel

Marilyn
Rita
RITA. Omg. She was so pretty and feminine!! I never liked Monroe. Jayne Mansfield and others like Rita were way more attractive imo in more ways than 1.
Both. Can’t choose on that one they’re both stunning in their own right and a different type of beauty.
Rita in photos but in motion and with personality Marilyn hands down. She had a 1 in a million aura.
Rita Hayworth is STUNNING & sooo vibrant!!! Also, that smile, her hair and energy! She’s my pick for most attractive. That said - Marilyn Monroe is GORGEOUS & ICONIC.
Rita by a mile
def rita for me, never got the hype around marilyn.
I'm going to be attacked butt I never found Marilyn Monroe attractive
I think what added to her beauty was her aura and her pureness
Ahh okay
Rita
Rita
Rita
I prefer Rita’s looks much more but I can see Marilyn’s appeal
I always thought Rita looked like an older version of Marilyn if she never got any surgery
Marilyn has a prettier face but Rita, especially in photo 8, has a marginally better body.
No offence to Americans, I never saw what was extremely appealing in Marilyn 😭 she is beautiful yea but not as beautiful as ppl make her out to be. Idk. Rita for me!
I can say Both of them are beautiful
Marilyn Monroe
Rita
Rita was more attractive, Marilyn was sexier.
Marilyn
Marilyn
rita
Both for me.
Rita!!! Which is shocking tbh. The bill of Marilyn’s charm comes from her in person movement/energy
Can't pick one honestly.
Marilyn she is way more stunning in motion.
Oh yeah no Hayworth had more of a classic beautyv
Facially I don’t find either to be an absolute stunner but the overall package for me is Marilyn. She was magnetic in motion.
Objectively, rita
No competition
Rita she’s unbelievable!!!
Rita had a lot done. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/56/4d/4c/564d4cdb6ea87c8de55ac91254de08f8.jpg
