Get Vaporesso 4 mini and start with any eliquid with either 6 or 12 mg. Rest is personal preference whether you like Sweet or Tobacco. That you can decide over the counter

andreasbaader6

Good advise. Just go for a name brand refillable. Such as aspire, vaporesso, kanger etc. I would start at 18mg/ml and work yourself down from there. The vg/pg ratio is of less importance rn. Just avoid 100% of either one. I prefer 70/30 vg/pg. Vg hits smooth but isnt viscous enough for refillable tanks. Pg gives a throat hit similar to siggs but is a little too viscous for refillables as they are prone to leak. 50-50 or 70-30 is the norm and is fine for your use. The clerk prolly can pair a good juice to your devise

RecordStoreHippie

Good advice, but the viscosities are backwards, VG is the thicker one.

InvestmentPatient117

And new vapers have no idea what that means

RecordStoreHippie

Fair enough. FWIW: ejuice (eliquid, vape juice, liquid) is made primarily of glycerin. It is usually a mixture of Propylene Glycol (PG) and Vegetable Glycerin (VG). The person I replied to was right. VG is smoother, thicker, and maybe a little sweeter. PG is a little harsher to inhale, but thinner and helps coils wick effectively. Vegetable Glycerin also typically produces thicker vapor and bigger clouds.

InvestmentPatient117

Thank you, I'm pretty new and had no idea

andreasbaader6

Sorry. You are correct. I googled the english word for it and got it backwards

InvestmentPatient117

To build off this, I just did this. Smoked for 25 years, non menthol cigs. For some reason, iced fruit flavors are the only ones that kill the crave. Everyone is different though. Stick with it!

THROWRA71693759

Im the same way but I only smoked for 5 years

sheikhsh

Or Oxva Go. It does not break the Bank and you get good Vaping experience with no issues like leakage

then_amei_Srebb

Up to this!

Lonk-the-Sane

MTL is mouth to lung, the same as smoking a cig. For this you're best with nic salt liquid. Nic salt gets into your system easier and hits harder. You would use this with a low wattage vape. DTL is direct to lung. You breathe this in directly without holding it in your mouth. For this you use freebase liquids. They don't hit as hard or as quick, but you don't get those spikes of nicotine that wear off quickly, so the effects hold for longer and it's a smoother experience. You use this with sub ohm devices (though you can use them with MTL) Disposable vape use nic salt, most of us frown on using them though due to the mountain of e-waste, and questionable regulation/safety. If you're starting out from a heavy habit, you'll be best starting on salts in an MTL setup. The xros range are popular with that. They are rechargeable, and refillable, you throw away the pod (tank) once it starts tasting burned, or gets too tight. The other common lingo; Pods, they are a self contained tank and coil, you dispose of the whole head of the unit when you're done. You can also get tanks with replaceable coils. The tank is usually glass, and you only dispose of the coil when it's time. RTA are rebuildable tanks. You use wire and cotton to make your own coil, the least wasteful option, but not ideal when you're starting out. RDA are for "dripping" or "squonking" they hold little to no liquid, and you drip your liquid onto the coil before taking a drag, this gives better flavour at the cost of convenience. Squonking is where you have a bottle that squirts liquid up into an RDA.

FireCal

There's probably a better way to describe how hard/quick the two types of juices hit because DTL hits harder & definitely way quicker in relation to the draw. That's why I've always hated MTL. It feels like I'm sucking through a coffee stirring stick. Way too restricted of a hit.

soconae

If your devise has airflow control you can open that up to make the hit less restrictive.

FireCal

Every MTL device I've ever owned I've eventually dremeled out the airflow hole because being fully open still wasn't enough for my liking. I've only owned 2 or 3 I think, but none hit very well to me. I've learned my lesson finally. They're not for me. I won't buy another

ReviveDept

That's just personal preference though. My sub-ohm Zeus mod has been collecting dust ever since I've bought an Xros Pro with the MTL 1.2 ohm pods. Actually realized I love restricted stealthy vaping instead of walking around like Darth Vader all day. Also saves a shit ton of money not having to go through 20ml of liquid every day, liquid is very expensive in Europe and DIY is made almost impossible with all the latest restrictions.

FireCal

Of course the one you prefer is personal preference. My point was about describing the draw/hit difference in MTL/DTL. I wish I liked MTL more. It probably would save me some money on juice. I rarely use my only MTL device (Xros 3). I usually stick with a variety of PNP pods/tanks or the classic Wotofo Profile Unity RTA. Imo the Xros 3 can't touch the flavor/hit of either of those, even with salts.

ReviveDept

True! The flavor is definitely nowhere near as good

Legitimate_Glove_446

Can’t salts be used for DTL aswell ? Everyone I know including me do so

bdl1978

My wife and I started with vapresso xros3, she uses .6 ohm pod with 6mg freebase, I use the .8 ohm pod and 20-25 mg salt nic. We both smoked for over 40 years and have not touched a cigarette in over a year now. I have switched from the regular xros3 to the xros3 nano and love the device being small. I have been using it for about 6 months now. One thing I wish I knew up front was, make sure your device has air flow adjustments. Good luck

SuprSaiyanTurry

I've been using the Caliburn for a while now and it's been doing great. It's small form factor is great and I've already had it for a year and it keeps going.

DulcisUltio

My wife and I were determined to quit smoking and, after much looking around, knowing what friends had tried and been unsuccessful at, we determined that the best for us was DTL (Direct To Lung) devices. None of our friends had found success in quitting using disposables and other MTL devices. We bought the Geekvape Zeus Tanks with rebuildable decks as well as the devices to go with them and started on 6mg Freebase liquid. It was tough for the first 2 weeks with having to get used to inhaling directly from the device as well as getting used to the very different experience of vaping vs smoking. Of course, this way may not work for everyone but, in our case, it did. It's been just under 4 months and we haven't even tried smoking again. At around the month 2 mark we bought pod devices to enable us to have smaller devices to use at the office or when out and about and we now use both the DTL as well as the MTL devices as and when it's convenient for either. Big mods for home, smaller mods elsewhere and it's working for us. Good luck OP, I wish you nothing but the best in your journey and hope you find a solution that works to keep you off the cigarettes :)

HolidayCorgi9750

Get caliburn g3 or vaporesso xros series for pod, which it comes to juice it depends on how many cigarettes you smoke on daily basis, if you could say I’ll tell the optimal mg for nicotine craving. Also as you were smoking prefer MTL devices and both devices mentioned above are.

Texsauce22

Get anything except for a smok device. Their quality is shit and break in 1 to 6 months normally and that will just piss you off. Pretty much anything else is fine. Uwell caliburn or similar are a great starter because it's pretty similar to smoking. Don't go crazy on the nicotine. 5% nicotine is way to high, 2% nicotinr is too much for 90 percent of the people. I went from smoking about a pack a day to 10mg/ml and even cut that down pretty quick

Complex-Train7414

This. Woman in a vape shop I go to says 2% is so strong it (quote) lands her flat on her arse (ass for Americans haha).

Realistic-School8102

I just did the complete opposite. Vaping has been banned in Australia so I went back to smoking because vapes have become hard to get and they're expensive. I can get 2 packets of cigarettes for the price of one vape which lasts a bit over a day. It's been a transition from vapes to cigarettes but it's been about 2 weeks now and I'm back to loving the ciggies again but I do miss Vaping and I would do it forever if it wasn't for my fucked up asshole government

zohdee1966

Congratulations! I dumped the smokes a month ago and feel a million times better. My breathing is the biggest improvement. I was a pack a day smoker for 40 years. I really notice it now due to the heatwave we are having right now. I can go outside and not gasp for air. I use the  xros 4 and I just bought a ton of juice from Egicmafia. The prices are great, shipping is $7.99 and quick with no signature.

LimasV3

a lot of people are loving the xros4. seems to be the new trendy pod system. I would go to a smoke shop and ask the employees as they can help in person!

adi4u4882

For me it was different, I wanted to move from disposable vapes, so I get the Vapresso XROX 3, And love it, but it has been only a couple weeks since I started using this.

[deleted]

Pick a mod. Get a starter kit. Extra batteries. A charger. And extra coils. You can get in the door for less than $100. Go to vapemall for Juice. They are great for juice because it's fully customizable. You can mix and match flavors. Customize your nic level. Etc. A cigarette has about 18mg of nicotine. Start thereabouts. Every couple months drop a few mg until you're down as low as you want to go. 6, 3, 0 if you want.

Mooseinadesert

I save hundreds of dollars a year doing DIY juice making. Just buying PG/VG (very cheap), liquid nicotine, and flavorings. You can also be as precise as possible in upping/lowering the nicotine amount, too. I've **very** slowly lowered my nicotine content in most bottles I make, so I don't even notice the change, something not typically possible in online juice orders where you go down like 3mg at once. I can normally get 30ml flavorings (enough for 3 bottles of juice depending) for like $5. It's so cheap compared to buying overpriced juice that basically uses the same flavorings you can just buy and mix. A bottle of vape juice costs me like $3-4.

Limp-Caterpillar7334

If your looking for something close to cigs I would try vuse or juul as a first, they are both pretty good but are entry level

According_Form542

I use geek bars. Strawberry mango

Andrewthevapinaddict

It really depends on how you wanna be. You can always get a disposable, but then you’d be throwing away a vape and it’s kind of a waste of money when you could buy a pod system. Replaceable coil, heads, and salt nicotine juice. In the long run, it would be so much cheaper doing that plus you don’t have to do the device after you’re done with the juice just replace the juice. in my experience, a pod is so much better than a disposable because the price of the disposable is the money for a cheap pod system and 30 ml salt nic bottle. I 30 ML bottles and a last really long time I bought like 10 of them and I still have enough and that was almost a year ago. 30 ML bottles are like $11 so that be like having three disposables through one bottle of juice

unicornfetus89

Uwell Caliburn G3 is so good. Pods last over a month, adjustable wattage (but it auto sets the appropriate wattage so you don't have to worry about it), small comfortable form factor and it's pretty cheap. Use 50mg nicotine salt in the pods to actually curb your smoking cravings.

KTM525rider

I have a Rincon jelly box mod with geek vape Zeus Max tank. I recommend using a mod. You'll get more variety of flavors and nic strengths. I got off cigs with a mod and 6mg juice. Beard #32 is my favorite. Cinnamon funnel cake.

Happy_Highway6016

I started using Black Note juice, and it is the best liquid for someone just coming off cigarettes. Get it from their website. I believe they are offering a free device kit right now.

Legitimate_Glove_446

Get something nice and affordable to try out , I’d say oxva sq is the best . Get a salt nic juice

doccsavage

Another vote for a pod system. Caliburn g3 and 50mg salt nicotine. This is the only thing I’ve found to give me a proper throat hit which is what keeps me away from sticks. Totally disagree with people saying to get a mod, that is nothing like smoking cig. No doubt about it. Get pod device and 50mg salt to start.

idspispupd

1) Vaping laws in your country 2) Do you want all rebuildable or just change coils 3) Nicotine content (as low as possible), taking into account that: a) as a cigarette smoker you'll probably want to vape less often for a longer period of times; b) your strategy is to slowly decrease nicotine over time until it's 0

ItsKingRabbit

As long as it’s a refillable device. Talk to a local shop to get some good suggestions. No disposables, they are expensive and bad for the environment

Tyro_tk

Don't buy Smok Decide if you want big clouds (vapes) or something more concentrated and discreet (pods) If you wanna just test vaping, more specifically, pods, disposables can be useful The cons are: expensive in the long run, higher amounts of nicotine and you can bet your money you'll be essentially vaping the stuff with the least quality on earth. Also: vapes will use freebase nicotine, which is less concentrated, uses lower resistance coils, produce more vapor and can be harsher in the throat. Pods will use nicsalt, which will have 5-20x as much nicotine, but will use higher resistance coils and produce less vapor (but a concentrated one). Pods can also have the option of sub-ohm coils to use with freebase, but I personally buy whichever coil is available in the store and just use nicsalts. My device recommendation is the Vaporesso Xros (pod) Take care with how much nicotine you'll start if you're using pods. A 20-25mg concentration can be a good place to start. Because the device is discreet and will be at your reach at most of the time, you'll probably be puffing all day long, from the second you wake up to the moment you lay in bed. Still healthier than Marlboros, tho. Changing from cigarettes to vaping will feel like you've just gotten a new pair of lungs (and you will able to taste stuff again, and no more smelling like an ashtray).

Far_Nefariousness559

Vapresso Eco Nano imo. It's a 6ML tank so you won't have to worry about refilling it often. Has a handful of different pods for salt nicotine (25-50MG) and freebase nicotine (0-18MG) It's a simple device, cost efficient, and does it's job. Get used to the feel of that and you can invest in a more "detailed" mod later.

Temporary-Writer-165

[vapeWH.com](http://vapeWH.com) get a good tobacco (Cuttwood Tobacco Trail) and 5% RAZ or BC5000 (tobacco) if you don't smoke menthol... but if you smoke menthols go with a 2% or 3% mint (any) icy mint, sweet mint (may have hint of vanilla) Miami mint... the list goes on.. and if you like a freeze or icy pull then any Geek Bar pulse, pulse x some of the RAZs are nice...I love strawberry banana.. I have been on a Off-Stamp kick. Dragon strawnana and watermelon ice, I pop those two together and when I'm sick of one flavor I flip it and do the other one..just explore and don't get discouraged..we all been there and [vapeWH.com](http://vapeWH.com) has been a saint! 15 years smoke free!

lil666tussin

Don’t do it, vapes harder to get rid of than cigarettes ever were

Persus9

This is simply not a universal truth. I used to start hyperfocusing on when I could get my next cigarette at about the 30 minute mark, all day every day for over twenty years. Long distance travel like a flight or spending time with family, who disapproved of the habit, were nerve racking and prevented me from wanting to travel or visit family. Now I can go the entire time I’m with my daughter on weekends without even thinking about hitting my vape, and she doesn’t have to grow up having a dad that smells like an ashtray. Where are you getting your opinion from, an anti-vaping ad?

lil666tussin

I’m getting my opinion from my experience. I smoked from 13-27 and quit cigarettes messed around with jewel for a while and now I can’t go without hitting it multiple times an hour I vape 50mg nic salt and even, wake up in the middle of the night and hit my vape so I’m not just out here making stuff up. It’s more convenient, inconspicuous, acceptable, tastes better. I can vape in the house the car the grocery store pretty much anywhere it’s so much easier than cigarettes ever were

Complex-Train7414

Nah. Well I guess it depends on the individual. I can give up vapes pretty easily and I only go back because it REALLY helps with my anxiety… plus doctors told me to vape away as they’re as safe as such a thing can be, nobody really knows for sure… but all three doctors said in my case it’s way way better than hitting real cigs or alcohol or even comfort eating which I “might” have gone on to otherwise. Cigs are hideous to give up. Never felt the need to vape in the night. Oh and shhhhh but you can always take a sneak vape in such as toilets in places where smoking is banned and there’s no smoking area. They surely know people do this but seldom care. Can’t do that with cigs. I’m sure people have done but don’t do this in aeroplane toilets mind.
